So, I've been on TONS of RPing sites like this, except I've never role played. I really want to start because I see so many good ones but I don't even know where to begin. I guess what I'm asking is, how do you role play? And I don't mean like, where do you find it and stuff. I mean how do you even begin to RP? I dont want to join one and be terrible, or create one and not know what I'm doing.
Other questions I have:
Do I need a lot of OCs?
Do I always have to type a paragraph at a time?
Group RPs confuse me, how do they know who should type next?
I know these are probably stupid questions, but I'm honestly so confused and worried if I RP people will be mad because I don't know what I'm doing.
BTW, if this doesn't belong here, I'm sorry. Edited at July 11, 2018 02:26 PM by Animeslayer327

Do I need a lot of OCs No, just as much as you need for RP
Do I always have to type a paragraph at a time Different RP require different amounts of writing but usually yes
How do they know who should type first You donÂ’t, you just kind of go along with it
Hope this helped a bit! :3

When you wore a reply, just do like if you were writing a story. RO is usually in third person, so it can be easy to follow along.
As for OC, it depends. Personally, I have one major, and I change her a bit with all my RP ^^

As DarkCloudClan said, roleplaying is like writing a story with other people-- but the main difference is that you're writing through your character's POV and responding to someone else's. It's normally done through third person POV, and in my opinion it's best to do it in past tense form rather than present ('he said' vs 'he says'.)
The amount of OCs you have is entirely dependent on how many you're comfortable with. I know some people on other sites who've made well over two hundred (I personally think that's insane, but they seem proud of it.
You don't need to type paragraphs, but people usually prefer if you at least try to match length. Try to give them something to work with, like actions and dialogue.
Usually, for group roleplays you set up a posting order. How I set them up is go by who posts the starter, second, third, etc. You just follow that order. Alternatively, you can talk to your roleplay partners to see what they prefer / do.
Hopefully that helped!
