I feel like I read something in the tutorial about how you can have three packs per family or something? Could someone explain this for me? Because I'd love to have multiple packs to take care of, as that's how I'm understanding it

For more that one pack log out, on the log out screen you'll see a button that says 'click here to join' once you click that, you'd set it up like you did your current pack.
You can have 3 max, as you know.

Add on to that, you can 3 max free accounts, therefore, premium accounts make it so that you can have more, so if you had 20 premium accounts, you can have 3 basic and have 23 accounts

Also, if you lose your premium, another account doesn't automatically delete, but there is probably some time of warning system for that.
