INTRODUCTION In the year 2050, humans and canines alike have shifted to a foreign, strange land where the popular majority are canids. The area is prone to flooding and weather shifts. At first glance, the island seems normal - despite its above average dog population. It is strange, but liveable and functions as a normal society with bustling city life and wildlife, as well as a vast majority of tamed and feral dogs. It seems like the perfect society, only the humans vanish every year for 4-6 months, depending on the floods of the island. The dogs and other animals remain on the island despite the difficult conditions. Strays have adapted to these conditions and as for pets? They have as well, with some of their humans leaving behind automatic feeders for them and such. During this period, dogs tend to leave their homes and wander - hence the relaxed attitude towards strays. No dog has dared to leave the island, though nobody really knows why. It’s just instinctual and can almost be described as an urge to remain there. So common knowledge among the population: the dogs do not leave the island. A specific group may be tracked down, however they mostly reside on the outskirts of the city and range further into the forestry. This group is said to be descendants of the founding dogs, and are easily identifiable by their heterochromic eyes. They are rarely seen in the city and are said to live in a temple somewhere in the woods. These dogs are very knowledgeable on the history of the island and have been there for generations. No one has really sought out these dogs, but there have been many rumors of them being quiet, aggressive or more feral than most - however, rumors can just be rumors. If you strive for answers about the mysterious conditions of the island, seek these dogs out. But beware, they are few and hard to come by. Do you dare seek the truth behind the island? Name: Sequoia (Coy for short) Gender: Male Age: 4.5 years old Dog Breed: Belgian Malinois Stray/Pet/Descendant: Stray Appearance: [c] 152281 Strengths/Weaknesses Description: Coy has keen eyesight and comprehension skills. He’s able to act quickly and is always ready on his feet when needed and easily learns things. While his eyesight and brain are his strongest sense, it does not mean he is lacking in any other. His best trait however is his agility. Due to his lanky build, he is quite the athlete.
He is passionate and dedicated to his loved ones to a fault. In dire situations, Coy will be the first to throw himself into the fire, which can be good and bad. He is quite capable, but often overestimates his capability when given an adrenaline rush. Overall, he’s a well rounded dog and lives up to his breed standard and can best be described as a bullet: direct, hard-hitting, and quick. Design Notes (Optional): His ear piercing is non symmetrical and gold. His eyes are topaz colored. Personality: Truthfully named Sequoia, Coy comes across as quiet, but is direct and bold. He isn’t super selective with his words, so he’s quick to say what’s on his mind the bluntest terms - which can come across as rude to many. Quick to snap when his boundaries are crossed, he isn’t the best to get along with, though it is not impossible. He can be cold, cautious, and calculative at times, though in nature tries to make the best decision for himself and his loved ones. He is independent and capable of caring for himself, giving him a quite expectant attitude as he hates incompetence. Typically, Coy remains in his head most days as he’s often using his brain, and frankly, thinks small talk is a waste of breath. His intense character leads him to be curious and adventurous and not afraid of taking risks, for better or for worse. Despite this, he is not stubborn and is fairly easy to reason with.
Once befriended, Coy expresses a whole new side of him. He is considerate of his peers and has their best interest in mind. He can even tend to be more talkative and energetic at times - though it is rare and only when he isn’t hyper-focused in survival mode. Being the malinois he is, he is rarely just simply relaxed. To make up for his lack of words, Coy is surprisingly affectionate. He loves to give a quick reassuring lick or head nudge every now and then - and if you’re close enough, cuddles during colder days. He is extremely protective of those close to him. Background/History (Optional): N/A
Roleplay Example: The fawn colored brute trotted towards the sand, his light and quick paws barely sinking, only enough to leave a distinctive print among the mineral surface. He reached the waters edge, the salty smell of the sea painting over his leathery nose as his topaz gaze focused on the view above - the sky alive with the orange, pink, and blue shades of the sunset. He watched the sun dip below the ocean’s surface and settled onto his haunches, his double-coat now sand-specked. He watched the sea with a curious eye, striving and wondering what was beyond it. As the sun sank below the sea, Coy raised himself to his pillars and turned away, making his way back to the depths of the city to walk beside the looming buildings. Bear with me, lads, I haven't roleplayed in a hot second and I am rusty. You can hear my keyboard creaking. Word of warning, I am the most unreliable roleplayer ever. Feel free to shoot me a DM if I've missed that your character is interacting with my boy <3 [c]157083 Name: Viyon Pronunciation: "Vee-on" Gender: Male Age: 6 years Dog Breed: Mutt. Notably Yakutian Laika and Central Asian Shepherd among other large breeds. Stray/Pet/Descendant: Descendant Design Notes: Weighing in at 140lbs, Viyon is a powerhouse of muscle and fur. He's quite the sight to behold with thick fur cresting his head, chest, shoulders and tail. Cropped ears suggest ownership at one point, but it's clear he's very settled into the wilds of the island. His striking white coat is mottled with stark blacks and soft creams, paired with rich hazel eyes. Sectoral heterochromatic eyes would boast his heritage if only most knew the link between eye colour and descendants.
Personality: Showing general disdain for most of the world, this canine is known to throw his weight around. Though not necessarily ill-tempered or mean-spirited, his patience runs thin and his fuse burns short. His grudges remain forever as a low simmering flame that always chances sparking back up into a raging wildfire. Revenge is best a burning fury if you ask him. Opinionated, stubborn, harsh, it's hard to tell if his temper burns hot or icy cold. Some are simply volatile, he's a great example of that.
A dog of few words, he's notably antisocial and keeps any response or conversation as efficient as possible, he's not one to waste words when he doesn't need to. For supposedly an antisocial canine, he does spend a rather unusual amount of time within the city and frequents the streets during the cover of the moon. This beast of a dog might seem out of place but he manages to keep his head down and not draw unnecessary attention to himself; quite the feat for a dog who towers over most others. Practical by nature, he's remarkably thoughtful despite the overall volatility.
Deer and rabbit might be the dream for most dogs, but he seems to have a taste for shit processed food. It doesn't take much to please Viyon or keep his focus. He's got a deep love for the little things and the simple things in life. Grand plans and grand ideas are generally lost on him, he'd rather settle to watch the world go by and chow down on something he likely pulled out of an overflowing bin.
Strengths/Weaknesses Description: Physical strength- As one could easily guess by his appearance, Viyon can easily muscle his way out of most tricky situations. Reflective- With all that time sitting around doing not much, he considers most things in great lengths. If you can manage to get enough words out of him, you're sure to get a thoughtful response to your questions. Territorial- Both a strength and a weakness, he's keen to protect his turf and will do so with unparalleled determination, no matter the threat he's up against. Thick-furred- Good luck getting your teeth through his pelt.
Speed- Though surprisingly quick for an animal of his weight and size, lighter and more athletic canines are sure to give him the run-around. Stubborn- Once his mind is made up it's made up. He's not one to forgive, so if you get off on the wrong foot that's it. Traditional- Not a fan of change or new things, it can take Viyon a while to come around to anything he's not used to.
Roleplay Example: Massive head buried into the dry grasses and seedheads of the field, it'd be easy to assume the lumbering beast was asleep. He was, in fact, dozing, and all too aware of his surroundings. His eyes closed against the beating sun, the only thing that divulged his state of consciousness was his twitching ears, circling around with each crunch of arid grass. With a low groan, Viyon stretched out achy and sleepy limbs before settling once more. It'd take something mighty important to get him to even consider moving from such a sun-drowned and comfortable spot amid the clearing.
In full confidence, or perhaps just a lack of care, the canine rolled onto his back in one slow and almost clumsy motion. Now at the absolute pinnacle of comfort, it was time for a nap, and at that conclusion he began to slip into a deeper slumber, allowing his surroundings to slowly melt away with the heat of the afternoon sun.
Other Notes?: I know I'm a forum mod but I'm not scary to rp with, promise! <3
