PLOT

A group of survivors must find their way to the quarantine camp located in Washington. They first need to get out of California's airport, which has been heavily infected with those.. things. The EAS is being broadcasted; the instructions notify the media to get to a certain checkpoint with specified coordinates. The remaining survivors will be picked up by the military and taken to the quarantine camp via truck. If they can manage to get past the airport and to the coordinates, are they sure their safety is guaranteed by these soldiers?

What happens when even the military is overrun? Will they manage to group up with each other and find a way to survive? Or will they succumb to the infected, becoming a creature beyond their imaginations?

The RP is following a slight guideline but how your characters follow it and the rest of the RP is up to you.

QUICK RECAP

This RP has already started, so for those of you who are just joining or simply need a recap, read this.

None of the characters knew about the virus prior to the apocalypse. Some are currently just learning how the virus infects people. Most of the characters are hiding in bathrooms, and all of the characters are still within the airport. There has been a time skip to the morning, in which the characters are now just realizing how bad the situation is. An EAS is being broadcasted and their current mission is to escape the airport and head to the coordinates listed.

In this world, people don't have the concepts of zombies, so you have to come up with something that your character will call zombies. The characters will not know how to kill a zombie until they figure it out the hard way.

Nobody knows each other in this RP unless you pm affiliations with someone. Currently, the group isn't much of a group. Everyone's either in little couplets or alone. They'll either meet up at the coordinates or meet on their way out of the airport/on the way to the coordinates.

RULES

take all of these to heart, I don't like to repeat myself

1. 2 Characters max. This might be changed later on, but for now, you must focus your time on just 2 characters. If one dies, you may create another one, but make sure you play them into the plot in some way. Dont just randomly poof them into the group and pretend they were there the entire time- it'll mess up posts and interactions.

2. You must be a literate roleplayer. This means a minimum of 700 words per post.

3. No mary/gary sues or super young characters. Minimum age is 15. There is no max age to characters, but if they are on the older side (50+) make them realistic. They won't be as fit as the younger characters nor as lithe. Their chances of survival are very low.

4. The characters are going to get their first dose of the zombie experience, so their reactions won't be dulled down when they try to kill a zombie like most characters in RPs that take place years after the apocalypse... Keep in mind, to the characters, the zombies still look human.

5. Your character isn't some bodybuilder that can smash rocks with their head. If your character is tackled by a zombie, they'll struggle to get it off. After all, zombies in this RP zombies aren't deteriorating and have the same strength as a living human. Unlike zombies, humans have a sense of resistance when it comes to possible risk factors such as harming themself; so, breaking glass or other surfaces isn't going to be like slicing butter.

6. It's natural for your characters to panic, how they handle the panic is up to their individual personalities. Please make them as realistic as possible.

7. The characters are not going to have weapons on them at the start, so get creative. The also aren't going to run into a glock in the middle of the street, so finding weapons will also be a hassle.

8. Your character won't know how to handle every weapon or gun, nor will they be a Bear Grylls 2.0. Make them realistic. Humans have flaws.

9. Be respectful of others. Your character can have beef with their character, but don't drag any of the drama outside of the RP.

10. Romance is allowed and welcomed! But romance shouldn't be a priority when you're fighting for your life, y'know?

11. LGBTQ is welcomed.

12. I have the right to decline forms for breaking any of these rules.

13. I will send a warning if you break a rule. You only get 2 warnings before being kicked.

14. The signups are for signups only. Don't discuss or clog up this forum with unnecessary posts.

15. You may edit and add to the form as much as you want, just make sure that everything listed in the form is given in the finished result.

16. Put the word potato somewhere in your form if you've gotten this far.

17. You must be active. Post a minimum of twice a week, I'll PM you if you're falling behind and give a warning. If you lose interest in the RP, pm me; I'll remove your character so we can keep the RP moving without waiting for anyone.

18. Reservations last 12 hours.

19. Make sure your appearance and personality sections are detailed. I would prefer 3 paragraphs worth with 100-200 words in each. This helps me know that you are meeting the literate level and I won't have to worry about RP Examples :) If you don't have any information indicating your form is a w.i.p, I will assume its the finished product and act accordingly

20. If you find yourself wanting to pull out of the RP, pm me first. The same goes for going on a hiatus or not being able to have the time to post for a bit.

21. Your character cannot have pets. This will unnecessarily add complication to the RP.

22. Spots may open up in the future, so stay tuned. I have plans for this RP and not one of them includes letting it die >:c

Think of these zombies as something that you'd never want to experience.

.

THE VIRUS

This concept of zombies is driven by the idea of rabid animals. (The zombies will have hydrophobia, aka the fear of water) Seconds after infection, the victim will start to foam/salivate at their mouth and possibly start seizing. The foam draws immense amount of liquids and causes the victim to become dehydrated. During the short 10 second process of turning, the victim will undergo pulsing amounts of pain, along with anxious and fearful urges that turn into aggression and cause them to lash out at anyone who's near them. Once they're fully turned, they instead feel an unquenchable thirst, which causes them to target anything that pumps blood, i.e humans.

To get infected, all that needs to happen is something from an infected being's bloodstream or saliva, gets into your bloodstream. This means saliva/blood going into your eye, in your mouth, or in an open wound. The virus tries to spread by making the infected foam by the mouth, increasing the chances of saliva entering the bloodstream of a bite greatly. In fact, if you get bitten, it's a garuntee that you'll turn. A scratch, however, is not. Unless the zombie had infected blood on their nails or you got the virus in the open wound prior to getting it, you won't turn from a scratch.

Zombies will attack anything from rats to cows, but their number 1 priority is human. The virus that takes over their body craves living hosts, and the only creature that sustains this virus entirely is the human. This means that animals cannot become zombified, but, they can carry strands of the virus with them. Animals are unaffected by the virus because they lack certain functions that humans have.

The virus targets the brain and triggers mostly stress hormones. This causes zombies to be in a natural state of anxiety. Zombies are naturally quiet and won't shriek or make a noise on purpose unless they have a target. So, the only way to hear a zombie is by listening to the shuffle of their feet, or anxiety prone habits such as; picking their nails, grinding/clacking their teeth, rapid inhaling/exhaling, tapping their fingers or feet on the ground, etc.

Zombies aren't technically dead; the virus needs a live host. This means people who are already dead cannot rise from the dead and that zombies won't deteriorate or decay.

ZOMBIES

Zombies have a strong fear of water. They cant swim, and if they are plunged into the water, they will flail aimlessly before sinking. Zombies avoid water at all costs- but thats only if they notice it. If you jump over a creek, the zombie will likely try following you. If you run through the creek and interact with the water, the zombie will realize and try to find a way around it.

Zombies don't try to travel in hoards or travel much at all, but they will follow noise with a very hyper-active matter; The shuffle of feet of other zombies moving will urge others to chase that noise, therefore creating hoards. This doesn't always happen, but it can in open areas that don't have many surroundings to buffer the noise.

Zombies can sprint. Unlike humans, they don't grow tired, and they don't have a sense of holding back since they can't feel pain. They will go through the efforts of breaking or dislocating bones to get what they want. This also means that the true human bite force is revealed when they tear through flesh. If they see you through glass, they'll likely try to break it by throwing their body at the glass. They always go for the most "vulnerable" spots, so if they see something exposed, they go for it.

If they can't reach you with just their mouths, a zombie will instinctively reach its hand out and try to clasp their target-- they only do this as a last resort, though. They sprint almost identical to a human, just with the lack of technique. They're easy to throw off balance whilst running, but they can still sprint the same amount as the average human.

Zombies have a twitchy-like hyperactive stance when they don't have anything to chase and are widely reactive to noise. Their senses are muffled depending on the damage their body took before or during the process. If a person had hearing damage prior to being a zombie, they'd still have that hearing damage and it would cause as a buffer. The same goes for zombies who were previously crippled in some way.

Zombies cannot talk nor feel emotions. They are not human. They cannot preform simply human things that are aqquired after birth, such as opening locks, flicking switches, climbing advanced things, etc. Zombies can somewhat climb something if they can see you and know they cant get to you in any other way possible. Usually, a zombie can somewhat work its way around a puzzle. Say you jump over a fence, the zombie will run along the fence and find an opening. They aren't smart, but they are capable of adapting to situations; such as crawling or jumping in their own pathetic way (they more so fling their bodies over things).

Kine stands at 5'9”, but when standing straight he’s roughly 6"ft, and he weights a average of 220 due to his bulky build; muscular arms, legs, chest and a toned torso. He also has a oval shaped head, fairly large hands, and a medium sized nose. His skin-tone is a darkened tan.

He has short, yet straight hair that reaches the end of his neck, and his hair is a coal black. Kine has down-turned eyes, and his eye color is a mysterious oak brown color.

Kine’s ideal choice of attire is a muscle shirt, or a loose t-shirt. And to top that he'll usually wear his tight fitting leather coat that ends at his waist, with a tan fluffy head, and the coat he uses has a (on purpose) rip on the right shoulder. Jeans are his go to choice, unless he is heading to the gym or beach, and in that case gray, or black shorts. He usually wears navy blue jeans, or black jeans. Lastly, his ideal choice of footing are any dark colored tennis shoes, but he doesn't mind leather boots when hiking, or working in a field. He’ll try to not get any rips in his clothes, but he sure will rip em himself if he has to.

He wears multiple accessories, and not all are necessary, but wanted. It's rare to find him without his round raven black earrings. This next accessory is something he rarely takes off, and that's his silver locket with a picture of his beloved mother who died when he was roughly 10 years old. His final accessory is a leather belt which is a beautiful rustic red color.

"Can’t handle a bit of coldness?"

Kine has built walls around himself and will separate the outside world from his mind. Sure he was always cold, but he was never a keep to self type person when he was a kid. That all changed when his mother passed, she had left him a 10 year old boy and this didn’t set well for him. He began being preserved to himself when his father started abusing him, and his brother. He started to shut himself down, pretending everything was alright for his baby brother. As he grew into a teen, then a man those traits just stuck with him. Of course if you look past that and get to know him, you will see he has a heart.

No he may never tell you the truth about what’s going on his mind, but he is a dandy listener, and will let you ramble on about anything that is seemingly troubling you… The reason for telling no one about what happens in his mysterious thoughts is he’s trying to protect people from knowing what can happen abuse wise in your childhood and the doubt you can have in your teen/adulthood. If you are anything more then a stranger to him he will risk his life to protect you from harms way. And will have your back in anything and everything.

Kine can be very manipulative when he pleases. Yet he won’t use that side of him unless he 100% has to. Leading with that he is, and can be dominant. When he proceeds to establish his dominance or don’t try anything type gesture, he won’t use words, but fix a dreaded glare at the person, and his posture will change slightly.

Kine is very calm, and you’d likely never see him excited or chirping about. He isn’t much of a talker and when he is he’s honestly to blunt with his words. But he doesn’t care. He’ll quickly have his friend’s back or with a stranger if he thinks their idea is smart.

Like everyone Kine can be sarcastic, and a idiot at other times. But that is what makes him human so he doesn’t really mind how he acts. He is patient, but at the same time he won’t waste time.

Kine can be over protective of his friends, especially the ones younger then him. The protective state stays for all his friends, but he will try to help the younger ones more then he would anyone in the 30-40 age range. He in fact does not strive for fighting, but rather peace. He is someone who will lay his life down for his friends, and loved ones.

Appearance

-Hair color & Style: Ryker has medium golden blond hair, with darker blond, almost brown, roots. His hair style could be described as an undercut. Its about four inches long on top and usually slicked back, or in a messy, spiked, state. His hair then fades to become shorter on the sides a it goes down to his neck. His hair is as soft and smooth as it looks. It was once compared to the feeling of petting a cat. After that Ryker doesn’t let anyone touch his hair.

-Skintone: A medium beige skin tone covers Rykers body. He has thick skin, literally and figuratively. His skin is the type that doesn’t burn, it only tans. It also takes quite a bit for his skin to start to bruise. Ryker is also known to run cold. In 80 degree weather he could still be found wearing a jacket. His hands and feet get the worst of it, they are almost constantly cold and don’t warm up easily, making his skin feel cool to the touch.

-Face & Features: Framed with short, lightly colored lashes, almond shaped, gunmetal blue eyes, sit evenly upon his face. His eyes give him the appearance of being cold and threatening. Ryker has what you would call ‘resting bitch face’ that mixed with his square features and strong jawline, makes him even more intimidating. People don’t freely approach him.

Ryker has thick arched brows that sit above his eyes. They are a darker almost brown color in comparison to his hair. He has what would be called a Greek style nose with a long bridge. Full, pale pink lips sit below his nose, they’re probably his softest looking feature. Overall Ryker could probably be considered handsome to the right person.

-Height & Build: Standing at a height of 6’0” (182 cm) Ryker has a rhomboid shape to him. Meaning his shoulders are slightly broader than his torso and waist. Overall Ryker has a lean, yet muscular frame. He appears fit and strong, like most of his soldier bothers.

-Other (scars, tattoos, etc.): Right below his left eye Ryker has a small, but prominent beauty mark, on his otherwise clear face. Several scars mark his body, running from just a few centimeters to almost a foot long. Ryker’s most noticeable scar sits on the right side of his torso, starting from the side of his ribs, going down at a diagonal angle towards his center. Ryker is void of freckles and tattoos.

Personality

From a young age Ryker learned that maybe its better to be what people think you are, rather than try and convince people that you’re something else. So he became the cold and intimidating person people perceived him to be. He adopted the lone wolf personality, until it was all he knew. Ryker is often found working in some sort of way. Keeping his mind focused on a task to pass the time. It could be chopping firewood, working on an old car engine, or even running. He’s always been the active type, and had a good aptitude for it as well. Sitting for long periods of time not doing anything would drive him up the wall. Its a waste of time, and you’ve only got so much of it.

Ryker is an independent person. He’s capable of thinking for himself and doesn't rely on anyone else but himself. Which is ironic because he is extremely reliable. He’s the kind of person that you could trust with your life, because he’s brave to a fault and will do everything in his power to protect those he cares about.

When he was just 10 years old he started working doing small jobs for people, so he could earn his own money and buy his own things. He doesn't ask for help, even when sometimes he really should, because he believes that if he can’t do it himself, then he’s not good enough.

Ryker is oddly adaptable. He may not like change very much, but he is willing to bend and break his habits to move forward.

Ryker is never one to rush into something blind. He is extremely observant and always watches whats going on around him. He will take random notes in his head of things he sees, like a car license plate, or the color of someones shoes, all so he can calculate different possibilities or scenarios and try to predetermine his reactions. That being said, he is also very skeptical of people, and always either assumes they’re lying, or that they have some ulterior motive.

When Ryker finally found his team, a side of him he didn't know existed began to show.

He has all the hidden qualities of a great leader. And in certain situations it shows.

With his team, who he had grown to care for very much, he is like an older annoying brother who ruffles your hair and puts you in a chokehold. In the beginning he didn’t want anything to do with them, but they wouldn’t let up. Though he would never say it outloud, he thanks them for it.

Sometimes Ryker can be blunt, forgetting that sugar coating is a thing.

He also has this ability to be calm in situations when most people definitely wouldn't be calm. He can go into this state where a switch flipped inside him and everything runs purely on instinct and muscle memory. Like his brain shuts down to the bare minimum of emotion, and he only has one end goal in mind. Usually when this happens Ryker becomes like a completely different person. He becomes someone who can kill without a second thought, and its what makes him so good at his job.

Ryker is a cat person, but he would never tell.

Alyssia stands at around 5 ft 6inches and weighs in at around 120Ibs. She is built like an athlete; Long, muscular legs and a fairly lean, toned torso, and is lacking in any unnecessary fat, but this does not mean she is without any curves. Her shoulders are relatively narrow and splashed with childish freckles, and as she tanns they seem to become more prominent. Her hair is a light-ish brown, ever so slightly tinted auburn, and has rosy gold ends due to her last dye job. Her mop of hair is pretty long, just reaching her lower back. It's naturally very straight, however over the years it has formed a small wave where she would tie it up. In the day, when the sun finally arises, it does tend to shine quite perfectly. Her skin is fair, but not pale, lightly sun-kissed, and warm to the touch, however, is not without flaw, given that she has a small scar just above her eye from falling off a swing as a child, and her knees seem to be pretty battered up with scars and bruises from countless trip-ups from both when she was young and more recently false starts.

Her eyes are relatively large, and a bright, ocean blue color, that has a few grey-ish flecks that are surrounded by slightly darker rings, only making them look richer. Her facial features are relatively soft, but not completely undefined, with slightly higher cheekbones and lightly blushed cheeks. Her face is littered with very light freckles but is most noticeable around the bridge of her nose, which gives her a rather youthful, innocent appearance, so, much to her dismay, people tend to get her age mixed up when they first meet her.

Commonly, she wears anything casual: sweatshirts, exercise clothing, t-shirts, jeans, etc. Now and then she likes to wear dresses or skirts or dress up nicer. Generally, if it's a bit hotter though, she tends to feel more comfortable in denim shorts and a thin top, if there is a wind, she would be covered up with some sort of zip-up hoodie, however is not confined to any one style.

Most of the time, she wears her hair down, just behind her shoulders with a few bits falling forward, unless of course if she is on the track and doing her beloved sports, in which case it is slicked back into a medium (ish) ponytail, leaving not a stray hair out, because really? It could get rather annoying after a while.

She is not to be seen without one particular golden necklace, with a thin chain and a small, rectangular Rennie Mackintosh style charm. It isn't the prettiest, but it never seems to leave her side, having it been an heirloom from her late mother. She has her ears pierced but never seems to wear any sort of earings, so having them done was mostly a formality for one particular occasion. If you look closely, you can see the outline of a small horseshoe tattoo on the softest part of skin just behind her ear.

Her voice is relatively soft, however not at all airy. It's almost a godly tone, one that could sit in your head for a little while. She has a very slight old English accent, but growing up in a military household and moving lts as a child, she swaps through a few different accents, depending of course on who she was talking to and what the situation is.

Personality:

Alyssia is a quiet and reserved person who rarely speaks to anyone. She isn't exactly shy, she just doesn't like talking much, not unless she has to. Despite this, she is into fitness and sports and is a valuable member of her training team, having the most strength in the 200m sprints, though what she is good at doesn't mean it is her favorite; Alyssia actually really loves hurdles and even just a quiet walk in the park to clear her head. With her closest family and oldest friends, she drops her more reserved nature and actually becomes rather bubbly and at times very opinionated which is quite the contrast to her previously quiet state, but if the situation called for it she is happy to weigh in with strangers, after all, she was never to see them again, right?

She does not lack in brains or intelligence, being deeply observant and quick to learn, which makes new situations easier for her to understand and difficult moments simple to figure out. She is pretty trusting in her instincts, and while not always right, she uses it as an excuse to stay calm, and with humans being 'herd' animals, her general laid-back personality seems to affect other people, encouraging them to think rationally in hard situations. While saying this, she isn't completely aloof. In slightly more dangerous situations, there is very much a chance that she could seize up while trying to think things through. She finds that as soon as there is no immediate solution, if she can't think of anything, then she isn't quite as useful as she needs to be and kind of shuts down.

Despite all of this, like many, she doesn't tend to take threats awfully well. She won't lash out, or threaten you back, nor will she take it to heart and go cry in a corner, but instead she will stay silent. She is very much an 'if you react, they win' type person, but this doesn't mean to say she can't lose her temper every once in a while. And when she does, that means you really fucked things up; and now you need to be careful. As it was mentioned she isn't exactly shy. She just chooses not to talk to certain people, but this does not in any way mean that she will not put you in your place. Are you being gobby? You need to silence yourself. Did you scare? Take a second, breathe. Are you risking the lives of everyone around you? Get a god damn grip, you're not as important as you may think. A lot of things in her eyes simply aren't her problem, not unless you make it her problem. This doesn't mean she is heartless, for if someone really needed her, she would be at their side before they even knew it. Alyssia just struggles to empathize with overly vocal people.

Just because she can be reserved does not mean she will let people walk all over her. This means she has quite a few personality clashes with people. Normally with people who are overly extroverted and/ or arrogant. It might take a while, days, weeks, but as soon as Alyssia comes out of her little shell, it's relatively easy to see her revolt for someone growing, though that sometimes takes a while to come through.

Alyssia is truly an animal lover. She would normally spend more time with her pets at home rather than with people that could actually talk back to her. Back home she had one Belgian Malinois called Millie who would join her on all sorts of sporting activities, whether that'd be walking, jogging, or even mountain biking, she was always right there in the background. Who knows, maybe she was able to protect what family Alyssia had left while she was gone.

She isn't afraid of must bugs or reptiles... Snakes, spiders, roaches, worms, or any of the more regular critter fears they are not so much a bother to her. However, she is petrified of... What would you guess? Ladybugs. Most fears are irrational, but this one might just be the most idiotic. It's called Entomophobia, though she has no idea in hell how she managed to get so flustered about them.

Strengths:

-Fast as hell; a given

-Has pretty good hearing; just because

-Calming influence to most

-Determined

-Generally very athletic

-patient

Weaknesses

-Every few weeks, if there is a sudden change in her surroundings (.e.g bright lights, suddenly going from hot/cold or vice versa) it is likely she would get a migraine with aura. Of course, there are ways to prevent things, like drinking lots of water and eating enough to keep up with her exercise, however, these are things she struggles to keep up with, so she alternatively just doeses up on painkillers. These only last a few hours if handled correctly.

-Can be quite harsh; While quiet, if you were bugging her for too long, you can bet she would tell you to fuck right off.

-Teamwork; only with certain people, if they were over-demanding.

-Reserved

-stubborn; Not rude, just stick to her own guns.

-Can care a bit too much; and will try and go back for people it's too late for.
