Name:
Terrance Evander Pruitt
Nicknames:
Livia sometimes calls him T, but other than that, he doesn’t really get close enough to others to warrant nicknames. Sometimes people call him Terry to get under his skin, but he despises this name because it does not give off the impression he wishes to.
Age:
Nineteen
Gender:
Male
Familial Dynamics:
Terrance is the eldest child of five. His siblings are Livia (16), Tomas (13), Phoebe (10), and Lester-Philippe (7). His mother was terminally ill from the time he was nine until she passed away just after Lester-Philippe was born, when Terrance was 12. Because of the age difference between him and his siblings, Terrance often takes a rigid stance on the death of his mother and believes that he’s the only one who weathered the full impact of her loss. Their father has never been an easy man to deal with, but he was and has always been the hardest on Terrance, and things only got worse after her passing.
He respects Livia and tries to look out for her, often trying to control her wild side like the overprotective father they didn’t have. With Tomas, he’s quite indifferent, the pair never talk. He’s extremely close with Phoebe, perhaps most close with her out of all of them. She’s the only one that truly brings out his soft side and his emotional capabilities. He has never really had much of a relationship with Lester-Philippe because he’s the youngest and the closest to their father. The only one he talks to their mother about is Phoebe, and he doesn’t get to see her often because of being shipped off to the academy. Their father believed Terrance was good for nothing and wouldn’t be able to carry on the family legacy, so he sent him away at thirteen, the minimum age for entrance. He sent Livia to a different school, then transferred her on her thirteenth birthday as well. Finally, he worked on brainwashing Tomas, and with minimal success and a preference for his youngest son, he sent him to the academy as well. This is his first year, while the two youngest children receive education from someone that Terrance’s father pays to come in and individualize their education.
At the academy, Terrance tries to conceal the fact that he comes from money as often as he can, although he has certain expectations regarding how he is treated there. A lot of the staff and faculty at the academy have had some kind of relationship with his father or wished that they had. At times, this is useful, and at others, it’s not at all. The dean of the academy was almost his stepmother, and she’s just as wicked and cutthroat as his father, even more so now that the pair had a falling out that was less than amicable.
Appearance:
Terrance is definitely considered attractive, if the throngs of students that throw themselves at him regularly are any indication. He has fluffy brown hair that is styled quite precisely the majority of the time, although it can tend to become quite wild and unkempt when he’s asleep or studying furiously, which occurs quite often. Still, he tries hard to keep his overall appearance perfectly in order, which is only one indicator of his obsessive and anally retentive demeanor. His skin is somewhere between olive and bronze, and he stands at around 6’4. He is quite a bit taller than the majority of the men and women in the academy, which certainly doesn’t help him with trying to keep a fairly low profile. He likes to be known for his academic prowess and skills, not his reputation and his physical attractiveness.
In addition, his eyes are a pale hazel color that seem grayish-green. They’re often a bit sad, though he never speaks of it. He doesn’t have any piercings or tattoos, though he has scars on his shoulders and back that speak of the unspeakable horrors he’s seen. This is part of why he always wears sweaters rather than revealing his muscular and refined physique. In addition, he seems like the kind of figure who gives good hugs, which is often told to him, despite his cold exterior.
Clothing Style:
Terrance’s clothing style is confined almost exclusively to collared sweaters and pullovers with riding breeches. He wears mostly dark colors, although he’s been known to wear something completely bright, flashy, and out of character for him at a party or two. He doesn’t really like to be predictable despite his organizational genius and his tendency to have everything exactly in its place. While he mostly dresses one way during the academic day and his time riding, his personal time is completely separate and he seems like a different being.
Scent:
Terrance smells oddly feminine yet masculine in a way that seems difficult to comprehend. The truth is that he still buys his mother’s perfume to feel close to her, and often mixes it into his cologne or sprays it onto his clothing separate from his own hygiene routine. He smells of horse grain, old books, coffee, pine, and jasmine. Because he’s so hygienic and organized, he often gives off, above all, a very clean smell like fresh linen. While this seems as though it may be an overpowering or confusing scent, he doesn’t use an excessive amount of cologne, perfume, or any other scent, so it remains quite faint and only noticeable if someone is standing close to him.
Social Dynamics:
Terrance is not the most social figure, but he's very well-known at the academy because of the various positions he holds. For example, he's been class president for the last three years, and he's running this year for student president of the entire academy, a right reserved only to students in their penultimate or final year. He's also a mentor for younger students, a tutor for nearly all of his classes as well as many classes he's done in years prior, and he works in the library and in the faculty offices during the time he has that's not designated for classes, studying, and horses. Because he stays busy, he pays little mind to the student drama happening around him, and is often seen alone. It's not that he's not well-liked, it's that he doesn't do much of the liking. Because of his family's philosophy on life, he's been taught from a young age to keep others at a distance. This is undoubtedly due to his father's experiences in government and politics.
Because of this, he does best with people who are more outwardly emotional and more extroverted than him. He admires people who are honest, no bullshit types, because the general atmosphere of the academy is that of polite, elitist students who suck up to him and anyone else in a position of power. Because he’s confined to his duties as a responsible and upright citizen, he thoroughly enjoys studying people who are quite troublesome and cause lots of drama within the academy. Sometimes they inspire him to do the same, for he is not without his own mischievous side. In addition, he truly dislikes those who are clingy, and has a bit of a tendency toward individuals who are quite unpredictable. Like anyone, Terrance enjoys a mystery, and his fickle emotionality can do much better without a source of constant affection.
Backstory:
As previously mentioned, Terrance has spent the last six years at the academy. Prior to this, he was privately educated at his home in the capital city of their realm, where his father was not only a well-known politician but a businessman known for monopolizing the majority of the country’s resources. He grew up in such a way where he had little exposure to the people or their needs, and only knew his family and a few others who were very close to their family, primarily staff. Now that he will be graduating soon, he hopes to return to the city in order to get his own job in politics, countering his father’s terrible practices and educating the masses on ethics, philosophy, and his overall vision for how things should be run throughout the realm. While he would rather be a professor and stay at the academy, he feels a duty to push back against his father, as he believes he is the only one who can.
Academic Standing:
As far as academics go, Terrance is absolutely the best and the brightest out of his class. He’s excellent in all of his non-performance classes, which is likely due to his maddening hunger for knowledge that keeps him in the library until early in the morning. He speaks a variety of languages including most of those spoken throughout their realm and several dead languages that he learned for various reasons, primarily as a hobby. He also enjoys the arts such as analyzing literature and art and playing music. However, his magic abilities keep him from graduating early, as he’s always suffered with an inability to commit to one thing. When he initially entered the academy, he was quite interested in the inner-workings of a fellow student, Caleo, and declared fire as his element despite having significant strength in his earth element roots. Seeing how much destruction the earth elements caused the country and acknowledging his father’s expectations that he grow his abilities in order to succeed him, it seemed fitting. However, his fire skills are weak at best and are best suited for assisting him in earth-related ventures. He is a light-wielder, meaning that the best he can do is create light where there is none by diverting it from other sources or storing it within himself. That doesn’t assist him much with self-defense or any of the other uses measured by the academy, leaving him as an average student at best where performance classes are involved.
Athletic Standing:
While most of the riders are only allowed to bring one horse and get assigned to one horse each semester, Terrance’s father made it so that he would have the opportunity to bring as many as he pleased. As he has grown better and better as a rider, he’s been able to take the coveted spot of team co-captain for nearly every team at some point or another in the past three years including polo, dressage, eventing, showjumping, reining, breed showing, cutting, and vaulting. Although it keeps him absolutely scheduled to insanity, Terrance is a very gifted rider and has managed to convince his father and everyone else that he is going to pursue a path as an equestrian athlete following his graduation, which is both pathetic enough and non-threatening enough in Terrance’s father’s eyes to keep him at bay, temporarily. For the most part, when Terrance is not in classes, he’s down at the stables training, caring for his horses, or strategizing.
Magic Abilities:
Terrance considers himself a jack of all trades type, and has picked up many variations of magic from others who have expressed vulnerabilities around him. He sometimes jokes about being a bit psychic, but it’s not confirmed whether or not he’s taken up this skill from someone, or whether it’s simply humor. His main skills are light-wielding, which he can use to illuminate a path or blind someone temporarily. His greatest strength lies in his ability to heal, although it comes at the price of wiping a memory from the person he is healing and absorbing it himself. Sometimes this is pleasant, sometimes the memory is the source of his nightmares for weeks. He can harm or heal both living and non-living objects, and the more he heals or harms that person, the more memories he steals from them. While harming someone is extremely easy, it takes a gigantic deal of effort for Terrance to heal people, and is sometimes at his own detriment depending on the weight of the injury.

Horses:
Because it is the beginning of the year, Terrance has not received his assignment for the semester yet. However, he’s strongly biased toward mares, and has four of his own at the stables currently. Caledonia, known colloquially as Callie, is a black splash warmblood who is quite big-bodied, standing around 16.3hh. Because she’s quite a large mare and holds a very nonchalant, accepting temperament, she’s his mount for dressage and vaulting mostly. Hesperia, also known as Hess, is a smaller mare, and is a Thoroughbred Connemara cross. She’s 15.1hh but most of her height is in her legs, so she is still able to carry Terrance with little issue. She’s a markingless dark bay who is full of vitality and is quite agile and quick. She is primarily utilized for eventing and showjumping, but he’s also been trying to get her to fit as his polo mount because of her size and agility. Despite this, she’s quite young and a bit too hot-headed for this as of yet. She’s also his cutting mount when an academy horse is not available who is more equipped for the task. His third mare, Esther, he bought as a foal, and has successfully gotten her trained for breed showing. Because she’s only three, he’s just beginning to break her now, but suspects she’ll be his next show jumping mount. Celestina is his fourth mount, a large liver chestnut warmblood mare. He utilizes her primarily for dressage, showjumping, and eventing, although he’s looking to trade her in for a different horse soon. He received her in the late spring and has simply not been pleased with how they work together. She doesn’t show the level of personality the others do, so he’s hoping to sell her and get something new soon.
