•Rhory Laurier•

{"Red King"}

Age:

24

Gender:

Male

Sexuality:

Hetero

Birthplace:

Northampton, United Kingdom

“Please, I breathe excellence, you wish you could keep up with all of this.”

Appearance:

Attractively angular is Rhory’s face, with a soft diamond type structure. His cheekbones reign higher, in a more defined fashion, while his jawline is just short of severe. Running further down, rather than narrowing into a more pointed form, his chin gently rounds. There is no time one can catch this face unshaven, as Rhory prides himself in retaining a clean appearance. The greatest flaw of Rhory facial wise is the purplish tinted bags of an ever present exhaustion resting beneath his contrastingly lively eyes. These eyes, while possessing a gently hooded shape, possess darker faintly curled lashes atop, while the bottom lashes are a bit thinner. The color that makes for the spectacle in his eyes is that of a vibrant cornflower blue, with prominent flecks and streaks of sterling silver that are easily seen when they glint in the right light. Above these alluring orbs sit eyebrows that are of an average thickness at the beginning, while they form a slight arch just short of the midpoint before lightly thinning at the ends.

His nose is merely average, and dare be said delicately structured; with a neatly straight slope paired with a soft button type roundness. Below rests an easily defined cupid's bow, adding a soft flare of definition to his facial front. While his upper lip is rather thin, straight, and lacking much personality, his bottom lip has a visible, slight pout. These lips fair in the tone of a lighter peach, and blend nicely with his overall appearance. His ears retain a more rounded figure, though they are of perfect size to complement that of which makes up his facial structure and the shape of his head.

Shorter but full sits the lightly curled, dirty blonde head of ringlets Rhory possesses. A near ombre of light browns and dustier blondes make up his shades of hair, though these colors easily flow into one another rather well. Tapering down to the nape of his neck and both behind and barely over his ears, they handsomely thin, though that light curl is vastly evident. A few more wispy curls curtain his forehead, though none are long enough to brave past his eyebrows to impair his vision. No one could describe the sights of his locks as ‘poofy’, but it does reflect a voluminous shine and holds a silky texture.

When it comes to build, Rhory’s is that of a more proportional rectangular type figure. His shoulders are perhaps not the broadest, but they square near evenly with his hips that are straighter versus narrowing at all. At a height of an almost even 6 feet -a smidge shorter if we’re being honest here-, the guy holds a build that resides between the realm of athletic and lanky. A light yet noticeable amount of toning fares in his abdomen, thighs, and calves from his years of hobbying in long distance running. And the parts of his body that do without a complimentary show of light muscle are thinner, but not quite frail in appearance. Overall his skin tone can be regarded as fairing on the duller side of ivory, with complimentary cooler undertones to his light complexion. It is a color that stays the same relatively light pigment all year round, with the exception of a moderate sun-kissed type of look in the summer. There are few, faded scars scattering his body in various places, but none of much significance.

"Yes... Rhory likes this, Rhory likes this very much indeed."

Personality:

By a large margin, Rhory is a widely imaginative and exuberant young man. One who can be described as eclectic as well. Where most fellow intellectuals pounce on practical solutions and ideas to fuel their pursuit of advancement, Rhory is an entity that only has a thirst for interesting concepts and ideas. The wilder the theories and proposals there are in the world, the better! He is also a man that likes to try his hand at figuring people out through quick observation, which often gives off the idea that he’s a mildly judgmental man. Of course he’s more interested in seeing his guesses be right versus judging others though. Overall he is intellectually curious and propelled forward in life with his desire to explore the things others are too dull, or too afraid, to tackle. Rhory thrives on new experiences, and engaging with others who hold vastly different viewpoints and experiences than others is exciting to him. Without these things for Rhory, he is quick to become bored, frustrated, and overall unhappy with his life and everything in it.

In some sense, Rhory is also oddly mercurial; often flipping between a high-energy, bombastic idealist to a burdened, wisdom weary cynic with the snap of the fingers. So in this way, Rhory holds the key to the element of surprise with his ability to be unpredictable. He also possesses the flaw of not accepting certain realities and rather trading them with the embrace of his own perceptions of the world around him. Sometimes reality is just too much for Rhory… and he’d rather see the world through his uniquely tinted glasses in order to cope with a world of disappointment. The most hindering flaw to Rhory is his deeply rooted belief that he needs to fix everything. If he doesn’t step up to the plate to fix things, who will? Rhory carries the weight of the world on his shoulders day in, and day out. It exhausts the young man, but he refuses to relent from striving to be the sole bearer of good change, no matter how small his contributions may be.

Rhory lusts for the answer to one question; why? Why this, why that… Rhory seeks answers to the why of everything around him. He desperately feels he needs to understand how every little thing works- well, how everything interesting works that is. As one that would spend even just a few minutes with him would see, it’s rather easy for Rhory to get carried away with his ideas on a whim. The young man internalizes his thoughts, mumbles his babbles briefly with others, and nearly comes across as rude as he abruptly walks away from others to chase his news onslaught of ideas. This rudeness is just misplaced excitement, however… usually, as Rhory just has an interesting way of conveying his excitement. This isn’t to say that he isn’t rude though, as Rhory can certainly be quite harsh under stress, or especially cold and rigid when he feels someone has done something drastically and morally wrong. Good and bad are very big belief concepts in his life, and Rhory abides by the laws of right and wrong almost all of the time.

This intellectual madman also possesses a fun little thing called an ego. He thoroughly enjoys impressing others with his bouts of knowledge and his fascinating inputs, and Rhory loves it far more when he receives praise and awe. As a social butterfly, Rhory does tend to selfishly seek abundant affirmation from other people, as his intellectual prowess has been harshly downplayed by his loved ones since a young age. Rhory knows he’s brilliant, but he needs others to know this about him as well. So he comes off as a show-off, narcissistic even (which to a rather high degree he is), but Rhory just likes to be an object of others’ awe. On occasion Rhory can be playfully flirtatious too, but anyone who he deems attractive (to which he usually finds creative minds attractive), has the ability to woo him into more than banter should they play the strings of his ego. This quality also comes into play in terms of platonic relations as well; if one at least plays the part of being wowed by Rhory’s mind, then he’s already wrapped around their finger. But should Rhory detect falsity in a friend or partner, there is no repairing the tie he will sever; and he’ll cut ties with other individuals in a -more than likely- petty manner. Permanently.

Likes:

His Intellect; Rhory knows how to use his mind as a pistol, and he values his brilliance greatly

Affirmation; Being praised and knowing he's impressing others is something Rhory derives much pleasure from, so naturally it's something he pines for

Chaos; Bring it on, baby! Disruption of the natural order of things is such a fun thing, especially when it comes to rocking the world with outlandish ideas

Speaking in the third person; Rhory thinks speaking in the third person is cool

Dislikes:

Average; Average people, mundane lives, a bland mocha... by God, it's as if no one lives by the greatest philosophy ever preached; 'we're here for a fun time, silly gooses, not a long time! Dare to defy!'

Being put down; Rhory takes being put down by others for his behaviors, personality, and ideas very personally

"Toy Story"; It's unnerved him since he was a boy... and he's still not completely convinced that 'toys' are merely lifeless constructs of plastic

People with no sense of humor; Those who can't take a joke are just absolutely rubbish! For example, apparently if you ask an amputee if they need a hand, it's "offensive", "dark", and "grotesque"... pish posh, people just need to learn to recognize gold standard humor when they hear it

Strengths:

His mind; Ask anyone... Rhory is a genius. A brilliant madman, an idol for the ages (says him), and someone whose intellect is what keeps him alive

Endurance; Rhory can endure many things; long lines, marathons, conversations with idiots, and many more things

Jack-of-all-trades; Rhory is fairly knowledgeable in many things, spurred from his desire to experience new things... and his knowledge has come in handy on plenty of occasions

Weaknesses:

Stubborn; Just try to reason with his decisions... I dare you

Physical Strength; He's more brains then bronze, and he is far more equipped to run than throw down

Rude; Rhory can be harsh, selfish, and otherwise just a prick to others, whether he realizes it or not

Kin:

Family doesn't really matter, does it? Rhory would rather not discuss his family. Between his unimpressed father, inattentive mother, and lonely, lonely childhood... he's more partial to saying he spontaneously came into existence.

Other:

Might add something here later ;)

~Colette DuPont~

Age:

23

Gender:

Female

Sexuality:

Heterosexual

Birthplace:

Bordeaux, France

"I must warn you, my inner child is a mean little shit."

Appearance:

Colette is a woman of average height, standing around 5'6" and she weighs in at a light 125 pounds. Her body has an hourglass shape with a midsized bust and hips. Her legs are slightly long in comparison to the rest of her body. Her skin is smooth and a pale porcelain in color with only a single beauty mark at the outer corner of her left eye.

Her face is heart shaped, with high cheek bones, a narrow chin, and a soft, slightly rounded jawline. Her nose is slim and slightly upturned and she has rosey plump lips. Her eyes are light green with golden specks and almond shaped with long dark lashes. Colette has straight deep black hair that ends just at her rear, though it is normally kept in a single braid.
Her wardrobe consists of mainly whatever she can get her hands on, but currently is a set of thick black leggings and a black v-neck shirt with an oversized flannel and combat boots.
She doesn't have any tattoos, but she does have multiple piercings along both of her ears. She does have a few from general happenings and roughhousing, but a more major scar can be found running along the length of her left leg.

Personality:

Cheeky | Arrogant | Stubborn | Confident | Hotheaded

Colette is a woman who likes to jest and pick around. It makes settings less tense as well creates a fun atmosphere. Of course her jokes tend to be quite dryer than her humor, so she typically leaves the telling to others. However, she does love jokes of all kinds, even the darker ones. Her own fun tends to be more of dancing and singing and even occasionally roughhousing and wrestling.

Colette tends to think highly of herself. She knows (or more so feels) that she is better than most at many things and is no where near afraid to speak on it. Although arrogance is something she hates, she is quite spirited in the arrogant and egotistical nature, which surely has caused plenty of mishaps in her life.

To side with her arrogance is her stubbornness. Once Colette has decided she wants to do something a certain way, there is no deterring her. She always believes her way is best and refuses to change her mind until she has made a fool of herself. Her stubbornness is helpful in some ways, though. She stands for what is right no matter what and will not let herself be led down the wrong path often.

Colette is a confident woman. She knows she is beautiful and for the most part smart, and she rarely lets others make her believe otherwise. She holds herself to high standards and only ever wants what is best for her own self. Some may view it as her being narcissistic or cocky, but truly she is just most comfortable in her own skin.

When it comes to not getting her way, Colette can throw tantrums much like a child. She's got quite the temper that is set off by the simplest of things. It could be merely one wrong word or breathing too loudly depending on her mood for the day. She's not one to back down from a fight and has even been known to get physical when the situation is most dire.

Likes:

~Sweets: An absolute sure way to this woman's heart

~Nature: Very in touch with Mother Nature, and she's quite good at gathering what she needs from the earth to survive.

~Nighttime: This night owl loves nothing more than the serenity of a clear night. She's made it thus far by surviving in the shadows of darkness.

~Horses: She finds most animals unlikeable, but horses have always held a special place in her heart.

Dislikes:

~Cold Weather: It simply pains her body due to an accident that has left much metal in her left leg.

~Being Bossed Around: Being told what to do absolutely sets her off. She's strong willed and feels as though she should do as she pleases.

~Arrogance: There's nothing worse than someone thinking that they are better than everyone else (although she can over look her own arrogance at times)

~Bugs: Disgusting little creatures. 10/10 will definitely cause her to scream

Strengths:

~Quite Fast: Her long legs do serve her well. Length combined with her light body make her a bit... aerodynamic.

~Quick Thinker: Her mind constantly races ninety to nothing, helping her to always have ideas popping up, whether they be good or bad.

~Skilled With Guns: Having grown up with a father who was obsessed with guns, Colette is very familiar with the inner workings of firearms.

Weaknesses:

~ Slightly Physically Weaker: Being small comes with its downside. There's little to no muscle on this woman, making it easy for one to take her down in close quarters.

~ Panics Easily: Perhaps it has something to do with the way her mind races? Too many ideas coming in at a stressful time could definitely cause panic.

~Very Hardheaded: She always wants to do things in her own way even if another way may be easier or more practical.

Arrogant: Although it is something she loathes, she is a victim of its grasps.

Kin: Her father is deceased and her mother couldn't care less of what her daughter was up to, so with no siblings, family is the least of her concerns.

Other: Later :)

“Come on love, just a little more give… just a little more for me, eh?” Rhory lovingly cooed, whilst delicately siphoning battery acid from a variety of discarded batteries. When things had taken a turn for the worst in the world, batteries were quite the hot commodity, although Rhory always mentally shunned the ignorant, mundane individuals that would hoard them for even more mundane things. Like flashlights, losers. Of course not everyone was brilliant enough to make their own sources of artificial light though.

Just as he finished juicing his -more than likely- 100th double A battery, Rhory wiped a bead of sweat from his brow. The liquid was all carefully contained in a gas can he had carefully and thoroughly cleaned out in the early morning hours, and now… as Rhory glanced to the sky above, he was upset to find that twilight was already on the brink of engulfing the land in its dully lit blanket. “Fantastic, we love draining batteries day in and day out!” He voiced in false excitement, standing up and wiping his hands clean with a cloth he pulled from his khaki colored cargo pants. Regardless of what fashionistas said before the world’s end, Rhory always found cargo pants to be an exceptional piece of attire. They held so many things! And they looked good too, if he did say so himself.

Tossing the cloth back into the small, and weathered, black wagon Rhory had claimed as his inanimate companion, he bent back down to ensure the gas can was properly closed. He couldn’t risk losing any of the acid he had, and he couldn’t afford anything happening to it. So once he was confident it was safely stored, he stood back up and placed it in the already full wagon; with his multitude of cloths, electrical wiring he’s found, many varieties of tape, and a few other pieces and parts he would be putting to use soon. “Jacket… where did that silly little thing go?” He muttered to himself, patting his waist where it had been previously tied over his pants and loose fitting T-shirt. The blond turned to and fro, his eyes quizzically searching the space he was just in… “I’m an idiot,” he whispered, his eyes settling on the article of clothing he had placed into the wagon several minutes ago that was bruised by his other trinkets. “No Rhory, you're brilliant. Don’t say such cruel things to yourself.” He said in a reassuring manner to himself, but before he could start a full conversation with himself, his eyes leered up and towards movement.

He’s been here too long. Where there’s one screeching undead man, there are usually a couple more. Not too many though, Rhory assumed. He was in a fairly enclosed space in a ruined city -somewhere in Texas, he was pretty sure- surrounded by a multitude of warehouses and other miscellaneous buildings. Fumbling with his pockets as the monster screeched and began to hobble towards him from a side alley to a warehouse, Rhory finally found the small handgun he had on his person -the only gun he had on his person. He knew there were only two shots left in the tiny thing, but he honestly hasn’t used artillery much. Pointing the gun in the direction of the zombie, Rhory pulled the trigger that blew out the things kneecap, so at least it couldn’t follow him easily. Rhory put the gun back into his pocket, grabbed the wagon’s handle, and began to pull it with him down the side street. Which is precisely when all hell broke loose.

From that very alley where the first thing was still crawling out from, an extremely alarming horde of undead men and women flooded out from the open warehouse door… which surprised Rhory, he never would have guessed they were cooped up in there. And as what any sensible man would do in this scenario, Rhory ran. With the wagon in tow, and Rhory praying a wheel wouldn’t give out, the young man ran as fast as possible down the street. No building would provide shelter to him and the wagon, and he was not going to ditch the wagon either. There were too many important things he needed on it, so all he could do was run and hope that his endurance would put these undead bastards to shame… or he supposed, he would die trying. Which was not a very attractive thought.

"Shit, shit!" Sharp curses left the woman's mouth as some of her beloved grey powder spilt out onto the floor of the abandoned building. Colette had finally found a supply of gun powder and she found herself being too reckless with it. "I'll need every bit to make plenty of bullets..." Ammo was becoming less and less frequent, but Colette just so happened to know how to make her own and she could thank her father for that tidbit of knowledge. Of course, she had enough ammo on her at the time being, but she used it every day, so her supply was constantly dwindling.

Colette did her best to contain the powder in an old metal coffee tin that she'd cleaned out. She pulled some duct tape from her backpack- which was all that she carried aside from her weapons- and taped the lid of the coffee tin shut. She put both items carefully back into her bag, which was filled with food, water, and any other bits of useful items she had acquired along her journey. Colette could feel the chill of night coming along, so she put on her flannel, which was fleeced on the inside. It wasn't the most attractive piece of clothing, but then again she was in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.

Colette knew she'd need to be leaving. Although the night was still just as beautiful as it had always been, it was considerably more dangerous than it used to be. The undead seemed to prefer the darkness of night compared to the brightness of the day. It was seeming to get closer to the winter months though, so Colette expected that she'd start to see less of the creatures out and about in the cold. She had noted that without the proper blood circulation, the nasty creatures seemed to move much slower. She couldn't say much though, as she too moves slower when it's cold. "Pop out your thoughts, woman. It's time to head home for the night," she sighed softly as she swung her bag onto her shoulders before opening the door to exit the building. Colette's heart skipped a beat as she heard a shot fired a little too close for comfort. She could also hear the sounds of a hoard close by. Someone was in trouble, perhaps?

Colette's brain told her to just go home, but it had been ages since she'd been close to the living. She had made up her mind to see if she could help out whoever was surely in trouble. Colette slipped her gun from her thigh holster, which she had picked up at a gun store. The gun however, was her most prized possession. It had been the first handgun her father had ever given her and it had served her well so far. Colette's eyes saw the undead pouring from the building before she ever saw their intended meal. "Ah hell... not even I've got enough to handle this brood," she whispered and prayed that whoever it was would be ready to run like hell.

Colette then had the brightest of ideas. The creatures were drawn to sound as well as bright objects. Not only did this woman have a voice on her, but also a flare stick that she'd jacked out of some emergency kit. "Good god this better not get me killed," she said as she lit the flare. A few heads turned in her direction, but not enough. "Oi! Over here beasties! Come and get it," she hollered as she scouted her path around them. Most of the monsters paid her mind, but there was still a considerable amount following the running figure in the distance.

Colette threw the flare down the alley way, which kept the attention of most of the ones that she'd successfully distracted. However, it was a better time than any to start running. She shot down a few zombies that were too close for comfort as she went as fast as her legs would take her. She definitely wanted to catch up to the person, and so far she was. They were pulling a wagon which had to have been slowing them down. She hoped whatever was in it was at least worth the trouble. The ruckus still kept some of the hoard on their trail, but it wasn't long before Colette caught up. "I swear I'm a nonviolent, I just couldn't let the only person I've seen in months escape me," she said to warn the man that she was coming up close to. Some people preferred to shoot first and ask questions later, so Colette thought it appropriate to announce herself.

It truly did pay in recent times to be in shape, and by God was Rhory grateful that he kept up on running as a pastime. He’s probably done more running though recently than he has in his entire life, but regardless, he knew he worked his stamina and endurance down to a science -a very Rhory thing to do-; his average running speed is 9.5 miles per hour, more like 8.5 miles per hour with the wagon, and with such things considered he knew he could tolerate the run with the added baggage for approximately 21 minutes before he would start slowing down. He’d like to think that in 21 minutes most of the horde would give up, but it wasn’t a fact he could count on. There’s only one fact he could rely on with zombies; they want to kill him.

The blond wasn’t daring to peek back either yet, however he was certainly tempted to as he could have sworn he heard a female’s voice… or maybe he was simply hearing things, as that does tend to happen. Currently Rhory found there to be a silver lining in the short, but life saving distance he’s kept from the closest zombie still in pursuit of him. Rhory could only estimate and judge the proximity based on the horrid noises the zombie was making amid its run, but it was a safe way to gauge how much space there was between them. It did get rather difficult when it came to maneuvering both himself and the wagon around larger debris and cracks in the foundation of the ground he was running on. To make matters far worse, he still had quite the distance to go before he rounded the corner to the road where his safe space resided; an Avista power hub.

Rhory did faintly flinch though as he heard a feminine voice behind him, as he was hardly expecting to hear a coherent voice of any kind amid so many monsters. However, this voice in particular sparked a sense of familiarity… the bad kind. Daring to take a quick glance to the side behind him, his brows furrowed and his lips parted in puzzled surprise. And it took quite a lot of mental strain to keep his running pace steady. “Collie?!” He asked in a baffled tone, and he would've said much more if his turn wasn’t fast approaching. “Right.” He barked, gesturing with his head to make the tighter right turn down a short driveway that led to a small gated facility. “Of all the people…” He muttered under his breath, but he wasn’t quite sure if he was glad or disappointed to see her alive. No, that sounded harsh. Of course he was ‘happy’ to see her alive -he loved her at one time after all-, he had just already made peace with the thought that everyone he had previously cared about was dead. Or undead.

Running the short distance, Rhory passed through the currently open gates and dropped the wagon’s handle. He had the courtesy to wait until Collie was through before he hastily began closing the gates to thwart off the rest of the quickly approaching horde. So far, the metal chain link gate and fences have withstood the hordes, and fingers crossed it would continue to provide a sanctuary. As soon as Rhory finished tying another set of chains around the gate handles and locking them, an onslaught of zombies slammed into the gate, earning Rhory to make a subtle yipping sound as he jumped back. Overall, he was safe though, and so were things. That’s what mattered most.

Turning around, Rhory’s gaze faintly narrowed, but he had nothing in particular to say to Colette. What was he supposed to say to his ex?! He was, for once in his life, completely speechless. Instead of bothering with a snotty remark in her direction, he did what Rhory did best with his relationships; he walked away and pursued his work. Stepping towards the wagon, the first thing he carefully inspected was his gas can. It was still perfectly intact, and for the next several moments, Rhory could comfortably inspect it in order to pretend that Collie currently didn’t exist just a short distance from him. Knowing her though, she wouldn’t let her existence go ignored for long. Typical Collie.

The run was absolutely nothing for Colette, or at least it would be if it weren't for the cold locking her leg up. Of course, she knew she had to push past the pain and she did not wish to die. Especially not by a horde. She had seen it happen before and it was by no means a quick death. The last survivor she had been with got caught up in a battle with a group of at least fifty. She could see as all of those hands and teeth tore into flesh, and there wasn't anything she could do other than grant them a swifter death and run.
Colette was drawn from her flash back when she heard a nickname she hadn't heard in a long, long time. She faltered as she ran, causing her to slow. However, the slow worked into her favor as he directed to go right. She took the right along with him and picked back up speed. "Rhory?" She spat as she cut the turn. Of course she sounded shocked, but she also sounded a bit appalled. Of all people she could have just helped and followed, it had to be him? -Should have minded my business- Her thoughts were negative, but in all honesty, she was still glad to have ran into him. She needed the interaction, even if it may not be the best company.
Collie scrambled through the gates and paused for Rhory to close the gate back up. At least he did wait on her. They didn't exactly split on the best of terms, but maybe he had the same mindset as her. Living people were becoming quite rare, especially ones that you knew. She rolled her eyes at the pitiful noise she caught Rhory making. She wasn't a very jumpy person even when in close proximity to the zombies, especially if she knew they weren't getting through and it was obvious Rhory stayed in this place.
Colette crossed her arms as Rhory simply ignored her presence and started to work. A frown crossed her face as she moved to stand a small distance in front of him. "Uhm, hello? You seriously can't just ignore me now Rhory," she said as she shook her head. "It'll be a while before those nasties clear out, and we both know I'm not just gonna let you stay silent." It was true. Collie couldn't stand being ignored. It was rude, uncomfortable, and she couldn't help but talk to avoid silence.
Plus, she had just helped take out some of the horde. She could be a really resourceful person, but Colette was mainly worried about being left behind eventually. She knew she wouldn't last much longer being alone, and Rhory was exactly always the best with staying around during rough times. The fact that he walked away instead of acknowledging her was sheer proof to that. He didn't seem to care one way or another if there was someone to keep him company. Colette wasn't someone who thrived being alone. It was easier sometimes, but she couldn't let Rhory slip through her fingers.

There was a time Rhory found it endearing to hear his name spoken from Collie’s lips. But now? It was a crime. He despised hearing his name spoken from her, but he would bite his tongue on the matter. He could very well see her move in front of him with that frown he’s grown to know quite well from her, and after waiting for her to go silent again, Rhory tipped his head up in her direction and offered a highly forced smile. “No, you’ve never been someone whose valued silence,” Rhory quipped first, “but I very well can ignore you Collie, and I am going to do so right over there.” With the gas can still in his grasp, Rhory began walking forward in Collie’s direction. He contemplated shoulder checking her as he went past, but it just felt unnecessarily aggressive… no matter how funny the thought was.

However, Rhory did pause when he got beside her, his gaze fixated forward versus moving his sights to her. “For whatever it’s worth, I'm thoroughly impressed you’ve made it this long.” Colette could take that as an insult or a compliment, Rhory didn’t care. Not even he was sure which it was between being an insult or compliment, but it was what had come to mind. Pursuing his walk forward with the gas can, Rhory came to a stop and knelt down in front of a larger, clunky-esque machine with an open hatch and a variety of various tools and small scale equipment surrounding it. Rhory unscrewed a small cap from inside the machine, and raised the tip of the gas can to it before he began pouring the liquid contents into the small opening. After a few moments, Rhory set the gas can down and rescrewed the cap on. Glancing around him at the multitude of supplies surrounding him, he tapped his foot in thought before looking back up towards Colette.

“I think I’ve found you a purpose here, Collie. Come on over, love, I have a job for you,” Rhory waved over, with a false enthusiasm. He assumed Collie wouldn’t be enticed enough to just help him on his command, so he added onto his words. “If this goes as planned, we might have electricity, and if it doesn’t… I’m quite certain you’ll enjoy watching me electrocute the piss out of myself.” In all honesty, what Rhory was attempting could very well go either way; end in success, or end in failure. Rhory figured Colette wouldn’t mind watching him fail and flounder in yet another one of his projects, especially with her being one of the few who knew how passionate he was with every project he invested time in. It’s not as if he merely painted a negative label to Colette though, Rhory knew he could be just as cruel. Such as… he would think it rather humorous to see her falter on her bad leg. Colette has always been confident and poised in Rhory’s eyes, and to see her falter in her own arrogant stature brought a sense of satisfaction to Rhory. Of course, she’s never admitted to her own arrogance. At least Rhory owns his.

Rhory was highly accustomed to being alone though, which is why he never struggled in the isolated aspect of the apocalypse. While he was surprised to see a person, he could do without being in anyone's company. His early years taught him well enough how to survive loneliness with ease. Of course, it came at the price of being a little... odd. Where Rhory had no one else to talk to, he always had himself. It's spurred the frequent habit of him talking to himself, but it's not as if he minded his own company either. He's great company! Rhory just would prefer to not be in certain people's company... cough cough, Collie, cough cough.

Colette huffed as he pretty well stated he'd continue to ignore her. Just like always, he was stepping on her toes and getting under her skin. She was silent up until the point he paused beside her and spoke the words he did. Of course coming from Rhory, she took it as an insult. "I could say the same to you," she said with a roll of her eyes. It was an honest statement, but then again it could be taken as a compliment or insult all the same. She did quite well with surviving and could likely do just fine on her own still. She had already made up her mind that she wouldn't be staying with him. More bad would come than good.
Colette watched Rhory leave her side and a slightly pouty yet annoyed look crossed her face as he continued on to his work. It was just like him to envelop himself fully into his work. It was one of the reasons that they had split in the first place. Collie was attention seeking and Rhory was very invested in things he wished to accomplish. That wasn't a bad thing by any means and it was actually quite admirable. Colette simply didn't have the attention span for tedious projects. She'd grow impatient and irritated, which led to her arguing she never got enough attention.

Rhory's voice pulled her from her pouting as he said he had a job for her. She scoffed lightly as he called her love- a privilege he'd lost a long time ago. "Do not call me love. Even if it means nothing," she told him, grumbling softly. The little pet name really did mean nothing when he called her, but it was the fact of the matter that they didn't feel for one another like they once did. She waited to hear what he wanted from her before she walked over towards him with a small smirk.

"Electricity would be pleasant.. as would watching such a lovely scene. I'm sure it won't go that way, though. You're quite smart, Rho, so it'll go the way you've planned," she said with a shake of her head. Colette wasn't always a snarky person and her words were more than true. Rhory really did take pride in his projects, though sometimes too much. However, something like that had to have been planned meticulously and that always seemed to be when he was at his best. He did let it all go to his head sometimes, and even if she was the same way, she'd never be able to admit it.

Colette awaited Rhory's instructions as she stood next to him, her arms crossed over her chest. She hoped the building would have sufficient heat or at least a shower with hot water. Cold showers had been her worst enemy during the apocalypse. It was almost worse than being alone. "I hope you don't expect help or company for long. I plan to rest and do what work I need to do and leave," she said, her green eyes trained on a scuff on her boot. She couldn't believe that she'd be letting the only person she'd seen in forever slip through her fingers, but she couldn't stand to be with Rhory for longer than needed. "I'm sure you can't wait for me to move on though," she said as the looked up at him and mustered up a small smile. She knew Rhory was familiar with loneliness, but even then the apocalypse changed people.

With so many thoughts speeding through her head, Colette despised being alone. Of course, she'd talk to herself so that she wouldn't go completely nuts, but it only helped so much. A soft sigh left her lips as a part of her hoped he'd tell her to stay, but she had a strong feeling he wouldn't. He'd know now that she's more of capable of taking care of herself and he could careless about what she did with her life. That had been made abundantly clear once before.

Rhory responded with the honest reaction of a light snort after Colette returned the statement he dished to her. Quite honestly though, he was surprised he had made it so long as well. Rhory was never anything close to a survivalist, nor did he have any conditioned skill as a hunter, gunsman, etc. Experience as a gatherer maybe, but that was only due to the childhood that rendered him to be completely independent. He was of course a very smart man, and it's mostly due to the things he has picked up over the years from odd jobs and his extensive knowledge with fixing and rebuilding that he’s survived for so long now. Of course, it hasn’t been easy considering the limitations of the things he has now, but he’s managed rather well so far.

The look of vexation Rhory threw after her grumble did spark a rising heat to fester in Rhory’s blue orbs. “Don’t let that pet name go to your head, Collie. I call all women ‘love’, it’s the English equivalent to Americans calling people dude.” Rhory put a snarky amount of emphasis on his accent, just to rub his point in. He may have spent the last several years in the states, but he was still an Englishman at heart; born and raised. Northampton may not be as beloved as places such as London, but it’s a bloody brilliant place in the UK! Rhory’s own peculiar vocabulary reflects his heritage though, with his frequent uses of ‘cheers’, referring to women as ‘love’ or ‘sweetheart’, ‘bloody hell’, and his personal favorite word… ‘yowza’.

Rhory’s gaze remained focused on the generator in front of him as Colette walked over, but he did glance up to her as she used his own nickname. Collie was the only one to ever call him Rho, or more accurately, she was the only one he ever allowed to use a nickname for him. It was an endearing word long ago, and now… it just felt like a hollow reminder of what used to be. But what she said was motivating; regardless of where affirmation comes from ,or who it’s spoken by, Rhory needed it more than he’d admit. And quite frankly, he was getting sick of having to be his own hype man. “Alright, I’m going to start manually cranking the lever to jumpstart the fluid flow, which if I’m right, will spark the electron reaction in the battery acid I poured in on top of the-, nevermind the explanation, you are going to flip on that fuel valve on my mark, shift that choke rod to the left, and then turn over the ignition using that makeshift key. I’ll tell you when to close the valve back off.” Rhory explained, making sure to point out each part Colette would be touching to help him. Of course he could do it himself, but it would have taken a lot more time.

Just before Rhory began to start his own manual effort for the generator though, he released a light scoff, and a faint shake of his head with an irritated smile after hearing what Colette said. ‘Correction; I don’t expect your help or company for very long. Any other Godforsaken soul would be groveling on their knees with gratitude for what I’m about to do. But that’s alright, Collie, use up everything I have to give without so much as a ‘thank you’, you’re good at that.’ That was everything sitting at the tip of Rhory’s tongue, but he said nothing as he looked back to the machine. Sometimes saying nothing at all when it came to Colette was the easiest thing to do anyway. Her next comment did spur a dry chuckle from Rhory though. If she would have said that very sentence to him at the beginning of their relationship's end, he would have had a very different answer from the one he had now. “We’ve had our fair share of practice with moving on from one another before, so I think you’ll manage just fine this time around.” Rhory said, though he didn’t look at her as he did. Instead, he gestured with his finger to the valve before he placed his hands on the small crank and began turning it. “Flip the valve on, in exactly 45 seconds you’re going to shift that rod there to the left, and it has to be exactly 45 seconds Colette. And I’ll tell you when to turn over the ignition.” Rhory said with a lightly strained tone, due to the resistance he was getting from the crank, but once everything started functioning, hopefully it would begin to turn itself.
