Plot

Two tribes of wild dogs have lived side by side for generations. This all changed, however, when a young apprentice of the Ash shaman wound up dead inside the borders of the Oak tribe. Now, all dogs are on high alert and tensions are boiling over.

Each is plotting their next move, and all the while nobody knows for sure how the juvenile died in the first place. Rumors and accusations are flying, and the two groups are on the brink of war.

RP Rules

I have the right to deny applications. Three strikes and you're out.

Follow all WolfPlay guidelines and rules for RPing and gameplay in general.

All images, if any are used, must be properly credited and able to be used in the first place. If I notice that they are not, the form will not be accepted until this is fixed.

Show your literacy in your application. Proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation are highly encouraged.

Forms must be filled out completely; if it's a little out of order, I won't care, but if things are missing then it won't be accepted.

RP responses should be at least 180 words, preferably 200. Three strikes and you're out.

Reservations last 48 hours for limited ranks; any high rank must submit a writing example done by themselves before reserving the spot. I will not send personal warnings as reservations become due. If you will need more time, PM me.

These dogs are a variety of shapes and sizes, but none will be purebred. Hybrid breeds are allowed but they must be recognized breeds, not half-wolf.

For appearance, include any dog breeds (unless theyre so mutt that there's no telling) and size. Not every dog can be super big. Appearance and personality should be in complete sentences and at least 100 words each.

Be active, and have fun.

About the Tribes

Each tribe has the same beliefs, as far as "religion" is concerned. They believe that, after a dog dies, their spirit joins their ancestors in the sky -- not as stars, but as part of the northern lights. Stars, rather than being the souls of the deceased, are those of dogs who have yet to walk the earth. When all the stars go out, the end of the world will occur.

These dogs follow a strict set of morals, or Laws. They are:

Kill only when necessary, whether it be dog or prey.
Do not attack a dog that is already downed.
Spare pups, juveniles, elders, and mothers.
It is dishonorable to lie and steal.
Every half moon, there is a truce that must not be broken.
Shamans are to be respected in both packs and may travel freely between them.

Breaking these Laws may result in punishment, exile, or death, depending on the severity of the crime. The Laws may not be added to or taken away; in the tribes' eyes, they are eternal.

Patrols are currently carried out three or four times daily and hunts occur once or twice. Under normal circumstances, patrols are more lenient. Leaders are expected to participate in hunts, patrols, and battles.

Pups are revered and are the most cherished and well-protected members of the pack. They are named after things occurring in nature, usually, and, once they reach one year of age, they receive the name ritual. In this ceremony, the young dog chooses a new name by which they will be remembered by for the rest of their lives.

Shamans are the healers. They commune with the living and the dead, and they have no real side. They exist to serve their tribe members and keep the connection between the mortal dogs and their ancestors and descendents. Shamans are usually smaller dogs.

While intimate relations with opposite tribe members are discouraged, they are not against the Laws and can happen, though the dogs involved are forbidden from participating in battles. They may be socially frowned upon, and they are very rare.

Mothers stay in the camp with their pups until weaning, at which point they begin to ease back into tribal duties. The weaned pups begin training in the camp -- play fighting, practicing hunting skills, tracking -- and at six months begin to join patrols and smaller hunts.

There is no "omega" but the weakest dog has the unofficial position of being the lowest on the totem pole.

Mates of shamans, alphas, and lieutenants do not gain a higher rank, necessarily, but they do move up the social hierarchy and tend to have more say in things than other regular members. While shamans do occasionally take a mate and have pups, it is not too common, since their duties are primarily to uphold the physical and spiritual well-being of both tribes. A mate or pup dead at the paws of the opposite tribe may very well hinder those duties.

---

Tribe Rules (Same for Both)

The Shaman is not to be disrespected.

Follow the Laws.

Pups under six months of age are not to leave the denning grounds unless accompanied by one fully-trained adult.

The alpha has the final say in matters brought to them.

Challenges for ranks may only be issued and dueled out under a new moon.

As of right now, there is to be no contact with the opposite tribe.

Mothers and elders eat first with the pups, then the Shaman, alpha, lieutenant, and warriors.

No outside dogs are tolerated.

Mora/Shaman/Female/Oak Tribe/5
Mora just woke up the day after the Ash shaman Apprentice Was found dead on their side of the border.Mora was still confused at the time due to it being a shaman apprentice and wonder who killed the apprentice.Mora decided go walk around the camp to find anyone to see if they where awake. It was around dawn when she woke up. Mora due to the tension between the tribes she was unsure what was going to happen to them. She hope for the best but wasn't sure. Mora just walked around camp checking on the pubs and the mothers. She saw one dog in particular it was Claws. Mora wonder why he was up so early though she wasn't sure why. She just had to walk up to him and ask "He why was up so early". She looked at claws waiting for response. Mora wonder if her apprentice was up yet but she was not sure due to it being so early in the morning. Mora looked back at claws waiting for his response.

Pastora | F | 3.5 | Warrior
Pastora wakes up, yawning silently under a tree. She stretched out her legs and stood up. She shook out her colored pelt. The small patches of gold shimmered in the rising sun. Pastora looked around for any pack-mates that might be awake as well. No one else is awake, are they? Pastora thought to herself. Then she remembered the shaman's apprentice. The apprentice had been killed or so they said. Pastora was still confused about all of this. She would wonder if the other pack had killed him or if a predator had. Pastora shook her head, trying to forget that for now, and looked at her sleeping pack-mates once more. She saw the pups sleeping with their mothers. Pastora smiled to herself, seeing as how cute they were sleeping. Pastora started walking around to stretch her legs. She really only walked around a few wolves and back to her spot under the tree. She laid back down, laying her head on her paws. Pastora kept scanning the camp for any wolves that she could talk to. She tried to go back to sleep but the thoughts of the dead apprentice were still stuck in her head. She really didn't want to think about what had happened to the apprentice anymore than she had to.

Luna/Warrior/Female/Ash Tribe/3
Luna woke up to the sound of pastora roaming around the camp. She was wondering if she should go up to her but thought better of it. She looked around as she saw everyone else was asleep. Luna decides to head on a walk and lucky there was a stream nearby to get a drink. It only took Luna about 10 minutes or less to reach the stream. She bent down and took a drink and the walked away from the stream. Luna headed back into camp and laid down by a tree on the very edge of camp. The tree was an old tree but it was also next to the Alpha's den. Luna laid down under one of the twisting branches and put her head on her paws. Luna surveyed the camp but didn't see anyone else waking up yet. She thought about the dead Shaman apprentice and wondered what had happened. Luna hoped nothing bad would happen to her tribe but kept in mind that there wouldn't be an easy solution to this. She started to groom her fur and thought how the Alphas would deal with this but if it came to war she was prepared to fight.

This thread is for the RP only. Other talk belongs in the discussion thread.

Chinook || Ash Tribe || Alpha || M: Night (Deceased Apprentice), Tribe Members (Ind), Open

Pathetic.

Could their neighbors have been any more blatant in their actions? The audacity they must have to kill the apprentice and dispose of the body on Ash territory... How powerful did Oak think it was? Powerful enough to take on an angry tribe who were all convinced that the blood of the young dog was on their claws?

Chinook curled his lip, moving silently back into the denning area with a subtle, murderous air about him. He'd just finished burying the body of little Night, her tiny, fluffy frame caked in mud and her own blood. The scent of metallic liquid still clogged Chinook's nostrils, no matter how deeply he inhaled fresh air. Oh, if the Oak Tribe were indeed behind this, they would suffer.

Chinook would destroy them.

But first, he had to be diplomatic. He had to find out what exactly was happening, and, if it had not been their neighbors who had done the deed, he needed to find out who had. He could not ask his own shaman to take up the mantle of a spy; that was too much to ask and it was against many of the rules. No, Chinook would have to find someone else.

He himself, being the alpha, could not easily leave his pack, and his lieutenant had to occasionally lead patrols and hunts. Chinook briefly glanced at the dogs waking around him and shook his head. He would figure out how he would sneak around later; for now, he had the heavy duties of leadership to take care of.

Raven || Oak Tribe || Warrior || M: Open

The young female shook out her short, tan and black coat and released a long, drawn out sigh. The previous day's death of the Ash shaman's apprentice had been jarring, to say the least. News traveled swiftly, and it didn't help matters that she had been on the patrol that had met the Ash dogs at the tribe borders when the body had been found.

There was no doubt that it had been malicious, and the wounds were certainly caused by a canine. But who would have done such a thing? Who could have done such a thing? Of course the Ash Tribe suspected her own; a hunting patrol had been in the area and they'd already smelled of blood. Then, to have met so unfortunately on the border... Oh, what a mess.

Raven did not think any of her own tribe had killed the little juvenile -- barely more than a pup, that one had been -- but, then again, how well did she actually know them? And there was the possibility that the apprentice had been killed by an Ash warrior...

The female's thoughts came to a halt and she stood abruptly, shaking once again before huffing. She was not going to let such dark thoughts destroy her day before it had begun. Hopefully, the alphas would keep sense and there would not be a war. Until that decision was made, though, hunts and patrols were needing to be planned and it was highly likely that she would join one or the other.

Cirrus | Ash Tribe | Interactions: Chinook(ind.), Pastora

Cirrus watched Chinook, lightly shaking his head as the larger dog made his way towards the denning area. The Alpha looked upset, but he had every right to be. Cirrus had been shocked when he heard about poor Night. Who would dare harm such a young, innocent soul? Whoever had done the heartless and foul deed deserved whatever horrible end befell them, whether it be at Chinooks claws or someone else's. Personally, Cirrus wanted to find out who the murderer was and tear out their heart himself.

Cirrus rose to his paws with a sigh, shaking dirt and grass out of his fur, then went to find something else to do until patrols were organized. He couldn't stand doing nothing; it made him feel useless and unhelpful. Looking around, he spotted Pastora, one of his packmates, laying beneath a tree and padded over to her. It looked as though it was going to be a warm, pleasant day, but despite the golden light from the sun heating his back, he felt cold. He couldn't bring himself to enjoy the day, not after someone had been murdered.

Cirrus approached Pastora, sitting down one or two tail-lengths away. "Hey, Pastora," he greeted, dipping his head and giving her a rare smile that faded as quickly as it had appeared. "How are you this morning?" Cirrus knew it was a stupid question; everyone was recovering from the shock of losing the Shaman apprentice.
