Well that took longer than I expected. Lol

Went to get groceries. Partway through, I hear a noise. It almost sounds like wind noise but it follows my acceleration.

Pop out once I get to the store, my front wheel guard has come loose.

Get home and whatnot... and rummage around the garage to find stuff to fix it with.

I fixed it. But it sure took longer than I expected lol

alright, Granted, this doesn't really have a plot or anything. It's mostly for character interaction (right now) between pirates. Maybe little events and whatnot. Pfft.

The breeze danced lightly in his hair, tossing the strands up and down. His icy blue eye scanned along the stars overhead, taking in a breath of a slightly crisp and cool night air.

This was a lovely night.

The smile drew over his lips, a sly grin that he wore as he leapt forward from the platform, catching a rope to swing down to a lower platform. His boots clacked lightly as he landed, looking over the mingling crew. Home.

What a beautiful crew.

And he enjoyed every single member. And their dragons. Normally, he'd pester Velyran... but the beast was dozing high up on the roof, out of reach.

So he'd find someone else to pester. It couldn't be that hard. Right?

Sneeze.
-
"Shut up."
-
She gave him an indignant look, which was to be expected. He knew he couldn't tell her what to do, no matter what he thought he could do. His dumbass would probably still try, though. He'd get his head bitten off one of these days, but, hey.
-
The dragon lay with her body tight, fitting barely into the dining area that was meant really only for the people and not for the dragons to join them, but it was closer to the kitchens anyway and he didn't feel like carrying the strips of.. space meat? What the hell was this? He sniffed it. Smelled like stars. Whatever, it wasn't rotten, and it wasn't making her throw up, so it was good.
-
She sneezed again, and Dallas nearly fell off of her head. "Hey!" He protested, first in Human, but then growled (in very bad wordage) "Stop moving!".
-
Javalasii stopped, but let out an annoyed snort. He took that as his cue to continue slipping the meat carefully between her jaws, avoiding the razors he felt poking up from her fur.
-
Then there was a noise.
-
Dallas didn't hear it. But maybe it was a space dolphin in the distance, or a skag - he didn't know, but either way, Java was up, and Dally let out a squeak, clinging to her horns as she stalked out of the dining hall with a string of meat hanging over her head.

It was really getting too far into the evening for this kind of nonsense - how the dragons were still racing around with such energy was a complete mysterious to Vasilios. Ushering Urchin out of the way to avoid any further damage from the spiny, excitable creature, he gestured towards the examination table. His metallic hands clicked and hummed softly as they moved, a constant buzz that accompanied Vasilios wherever he went.

"Sit down, shirt off, let's see what we're workin' with." Came Vasilios's typical, straight-forward tone. "I won't watch 'cha if you're funny about it." He added, casually.

Getting thrown around by the dragons wasn't exactly atypical; he kept a well stocked supply of ice packs for this exact reason. He turned his back to Mylo, instead crouching down to rummage through the freezer to find a suitably sized ice pack and something to wrap it in. Huffing to himself, he pulled out one to examine - not at all pleased to see the sharp tooth marks scattered across the surface.
"Bloody dragons..." he muttered, resisting the urge to roll his eyes.

Yutaka's stomach growled. He ignored it.

Honestly, who would waste time eating when there was so much more interesting stuff to do, like this engine? He looked at it once more, hands coated with grease and whatnot, before turning around and rummaging for something.

(the following names are borrowed from a sci-fi book I recently read lol)

The engine, Quantum Singularity Hyperflux Induction Drive model X7, hummed quietly in the background as he withdrew his vaccuum pipe and reached deep inside the engine to figure out what exactly was it doing.

He had a report to file after this. Something was up with this girl. Not that, or that, or - ah. The coherence regulator. Yutaka yanked it out, the little heart-sized device that regulated the engine's fluid balances, and instantly regretted it as oil squirted the font of his tunic in protest.

Ignoring the wet (and oily) stain, he stuck the vaccuum pipe into where the coherence regulator was, which began pumping out a steady stream of oversaturated oil condensate. Exactly what the engine was running on - and apparently they just needed a new coherence regulator, else it'd become unbalanced again.

Great. Like they had a spare. The mixture was running down his arms, and Yutaka carefully placed the coherence regulator - Boze-Einstein model 92P - on the floor, where it vibrated slightly of it's own accord. Standing up and making his way to the washbasin in the corner that had been installed - really, while the others might cringe at oversaturated oil condensate, it was harmless, wasn't it? - he let the water run over his arms, letting all the liquid go down the drain.

Sighing, he turned the tap off, dried his arms on his pants - too bad he couldn't do anything about the new big black blot on his tunic until it got washed - and strode briskly out of the engine bay, casting around to find someone important enough to find him a new Boze-Einstein coherence regulator. It was pretty important, after all.

He had already served a meal for the evening, something simple. It had to be simple on this ship, or else he had one person or another complaining that they didn’t like the meat. Or that the vegetables were weird. It was exhausting. What Flux did supply was nutrient dense and perfect for the high energy inhabitants of the ship.

Flux had just finished cleaning up after the meal and had pottered out into the walkway between the dining hall and the rest of the living quarters. Most nights, he would retire to his room and pick through the scribbles of equations he had frantically written the night before and try to make sense of them. A new energy converter that meant a person could last weeks without food or water, or a new and improved prosthetic arm. That was his current hyperfixation, trying to find the best possible configuration for an arm. It was likely obvious to everyone else who the attachment was for, but Flux was seemingly unaware of that fact.

He wanted to ask Yutaka what he thought about his latest design for said arm, but the man hadn’t shown his face at dinner. Which meant he needed to go snooping through the rest of the ship to find him. Nine times out of ten, Yutaka was in the engine bay, but there were times where he was wandering the halls. He hoped he didn’t have to venture all the way to the other bay.

It was peaceful in the hallway until the doors behind him all but crashed open and Flux whipped around, mismatched eyes blown wide open in shock as Javalasii came galavanting out of the room. A quick sharp yelp and jumped back towards the wall, fingers splayed against the surface behind him.

“Damnit, Dallas!” He called out, huffing out a chestful of air as he watched the slice of meat hang from the dragon’s head.

“You two are going to break something! If you damage my kitchen, I’ll wring your necks!” The threat wasn’t very meaningful, he never meant the threats he made. Since his retirement, Flux had become all bark and no bite. Even when they were out of assignments, he never opted for the violent roles. More the scouting or just sort of being there ones.

As soon as he heard the voice, he felt his face go red.
-
Damn Flux.
-
"H-hah-ha- u-um, sorry, I couldn't-" when Java didn't stop stalking toward the doors, he let out another cry. "Stop, you oaf!" He growled at her.
-
"You could always let go," she pointed out lowly.
-
"Alright, fuck you, dragon-" he started to reply in Human, before she vigorously shook her head and sent him crashing into the wall.
-
"Oww.." he mumbled, face still red, and the trail of blood running down his forehead equally red. She gave him a glance before stalking away again. He'd be fine, she knew. Dallas pulled himself to his feet, his head spinning a little. "Sorry.." he mumbled to Flux again.
-
This was the only person in this stupid base that could make the smile vanish from his face and replace it with a furiously blushing face. It was infuriating. And distracting, because now, he was going to have to fix this wall.
-
Dally walked over to him, rubbing his left eye. "Are you busy? Going somewhere?"

Flux grimaced, crinkling his eyes as Dallas went tumbling into the wall, his dragon clearly not pleased with the interruption. His shoulders hunkering up at the thud that came from it. He was almost relieved that he didn’t have a dragon of his own to pester him, it looked awfully exhausting to have one. There was that spiky one that kept lurking around the ship…though she was always staring at Urchin rather than anything else. If Urchin was on deck, that other dragon was almost certainly somewhere nearby.

Flux straightened his spine, a sheepish smile on his lips as Dallas picked himself up from the floor. He stole a glance to where the wall had a rather solid dent in it before trailing his grey and blue eyes back to his crewmate.

“I didn’t know she’d toss you off, I should be the one apologising.” He offered, a smidge guilty about the damage dealt. But he soon perked up, looking over his shoulder with wider eyes and then back to Dallas. He’d probably find it boring, jabbering on about his inventions, it bored almost everyone he spoke to actually.

“Oh! Uhm, yes.” He chirped, clasping his hands together in front of him. A short lived smile lifted his lips before he began again. “I’m hunting down Yutaka, rather boring stuff, equations and..uhm yes boring things.” Flux chuckled, tilting his head to the side, opting for a more concerned look now as he tried to assess the other man’s eye.

“Are you alright? I mean, the wall has a new divot, you hit it pretty hard.” Obviously, Flux had seen and experienced worse damage. That didn’t mean that something like that wasn’t painful, just not excruciating.

"I don't think it would be boring." Dallas blurted almost immediately, and, almost immediatrlym feeling stupid for yapping, but his mouth wouldn't stop. "I'd be happy to come with you. And listen. To the.. equations and boring things."
-
He felt how wide his eyes were, and did a horrific job of trying to fix it. He just looked down.
-
"Umm.. it'll be fine. It doesn't hurt that much. Vas'll find me and slap a bandaid on it or something." He reached up and tried to wipe the blood off with the sleeve of his trenchcoat, which only made more blood spurt out in a steady stream over his eyebrow and sheek. "I'll be fine," he reiterated, deciding to leave it.
-
He looked over at the wall, assessing the damage. Wondering when he'd finally stop slacking and get to work on fixing all the dents in the walls and the holes left by Urchin. Dally sighed.
-
He still hadn't eaten. Snacks in his quarters? Beg Flux to make him something later? Bug Vas for more of those strange gummies that made him feel not hungry? He wanted to eat, desperately. He usually could on the ship, but at base, there was so much to do.. so much to fix.. so many people to discipline..
-
He coached the smile back onto his face. Good, keep smiling. You are not stressed out.
