The Miserable, The Victorious, the Golden ∞ History of Dorada Brigade
Weariness, dark and towering as high as the mountains before them, cold and cutting as deep as the midnight wind, traced their steps, whispering her sweet, melodic deceit: 'lie down here, rest young wolf, you'll get up again refreshed. Lay within me and awaken anew.'
And yet they pressed forth, thin, battle-wrent skin stretching across emaciated muscle, dragging on one paw at a time. Three wolves scoured the earth with their ragged claws, leaving their near-invisible traces upon lush, dew-kissed forests and fruitless, blazing deserts.
Weariness taunted them endlessly; sent the pattering of rabbits' feet in their ears, watching them race desperately between the ravenous thorns of brambles; promised the relief of a warm cave only to summon thunderstorms and rain so cold it seemed to freeze bone; and yet her efforts were barren.
For they were driven forth, exhausted yet unyielding, but one word more powerful than weariness.
