So, the general consensus is that we'd eat them and (potentially) tame them so that we could eat them.
Sounds about right; on par for mankind if we're being honest.

I feel bad for people who were the first ones to try it in the trial and error honestly lmao. Although I'm curious on how much pufferfish chefs make if it's that much of a delicacy and takes that long to be certified in preparing it

Hi! I'm going to be posting short stories about my wolves here. I'll keep a link in my pack bio so this is easy to find!
If there is a wolf in my den that you are curious about and I have not yet written their story, tell me and I'll write one about them!
The first story will appear soon.
Thanks!

Moonseed's Tale
-
Moonseed glanced up at his foster mother, Ink. She was licking Tourmaline's ears. He glared at Tourmaline.
-
Why does she get to be so special? he wondered, disgusted.
-
Tourmaline was the favorite pup---she was great at learning. But she got all the attention, and Moon and Tourmaline's sister Clove were left out.
-
Moon couldn't really blame Ink. She was still getting over the loss of her third pup, Mallow. He blamed Tourmaline for being so perfect. And he blamed his pack. He loved Cove of Stars, but he was hurt that his pack had sent him to the free range, and knew he was lucky that the Sanctuary had picked him up.
-
Really, it was his best friend Stella who had urged the alphas to get him from the Sanctuary. He was glad she had. Topaz and Milkweed were uncertain about taking him in. But Stella convinced them that otherwise he might be killed by another pack. And Moon loved Cove of Stars now.
-
At first, he had suspected that the reason he wasn't favored was his defect. He was melanistic, which caused his pelt to be solid black. But the pack didn't seem to care, or even notice. Which he was glad about, because he felt very conspicuous around his packmates with their intracately patterned pelts.
-
After thinking for a while, Moon realized that maybe it didn't matter if Tourmaline was favored. Stella still liked him. So did the rest of his pack. And that, he thought, is definitely enough.

I'm writing a series of short stories about a dragon named Aurasky. Here are some notes about the stories before I post them:
-
Main characters:
Aurasky--main character
Willowstep--Aurasky's mother
Winterhaze--Aurasky's father
-
Aurasky's home:
A huge cave with six tunnels connected to it. Each tunnel has three caves on each side. The tunnels are named and the small caves (each is a home) are numbered. Aurasky lives in Silver Tunnel.
-
The dragons' world:
There are lots of small villages all over the dragons' island. Aurasky's home is in a mountain called Pyrite Mountain. There are other communities like hers.
The dragons vary in color and power, and groups adapt to live in specific environments.
-
Enjoy the first chapter!

Aurasky, Chapter 1
-
Aurasky pulled the scroll from beneath her favorite
pillow-- the one with the embroidered pansies on the
edges. The scroll was her only way of learning how to
control her power, besides strict Jewelheart, her tutor.
Jewelheart didn't even have the same power as
Aurasky, but the scroll was written by a dragon who did.
-
Aurasky unrolled the scroll and started to read.
-
"Aura! Jewelheart is here!" her mother, Willowstep,
called from the hall.
-
"Coming!" Aurasky called back, putting the scroll away
and wondering how she could get out of these awful
lessons.
-
~•~
-
Jewelheart stalked over to Aurasky.
-
"Have you been practicing?" she asked.
-
Aurasky didn't meet her eyes. Jewelheart was a huge,
silver dragon with piercing blue eyes that seemed to
follow Aurasky everywhere she went.
-
"Yes," Aurasky told her tutor, hoping that Jewelheart
would believe her.
-
Jewelheart narrowed her eyes but didn't say anything.
-
Aurasky shivered--nothing would ever change.
-
~•~
-
Aurasky dove down and caught a pigeon in her talons. The
gray and white bird was plump and perfect for breakfast.
-
"Aura! Did you catch anything?" her father, Winterhaze,
asked her.
-
She flew over to where he was perched on a rock and
displayed the pigeon and two thrushes.
-
"Good job," Winterhaze said. "Let's bring them back for
the group."
-
Aurasky nodded and the two of them flew back into the
tunnels.

It'll be a while before I post the next chapter of Aurasky, so I decided I'll post another story about my deceased wolf Maple.
The story will be posted soon.

Maple's Tale

Was she ready to face the unknown? This was Maple's question. Last time she was here, she had found blood on the ground--wolf blood. She had left instantly, for she was barely two then and still young and cowardly.

But now? She was older--now nearly three--and she could do this.

But she was nervous. Still nervous, after everything.

"Calm," she told herself. "Steady."

And she padded down the hill.

~•~

Maple trotted down the hill. A month had passed since she had run away for a second time.

"I'm three years old," she thought. "I'm ready to explore. I won't be a coward like the last two times."

She tilted her head and took a whiff of the sweet summer air. She could scent a young wolf and the tang of a rabbit's blood. She followed the scent, running swiftly through the forest.

~•~

A young, light red wolf with a pink nose sat beneath a tree, a dead rabbit at her feet.

"An amela like me," Maple gasped to herself, slowing down and walking, warily, towards the wolf.

"Oh!" the wolf cried. She leaped to her feet.

"Hi!" Maple said, ignoring her mother's words flowing through her brain: "Be cautious, step slow, stay away."

"I'm Azalea!" the wolf said.

"Maple," Maple told her, and they became friends.

~•~

The next day, Maple went back to the same spot to wait for her friend. But Azalea didn't come. Maple hunted until the sky got dark. She fell asleep under the tree in a tangle of restless dreams.

In the dreams, Azalea was there, crying for help. She was always desperately afraid and starving.

Maple shook herself awake. Azalea wasn't there yet.

"You."

Maple turned to see a silvery pale wolf, staring at her with emerald green eyes. She sat up, her tail between her legs. "I'm harmless," she whispered.

"I see that," the wolf told her, padding closer.

"Be cautious, step slow, stay away," Maple hissed under her breath.

"Who are you?" the stranger asked, his black-tipped ears twitching rapidly. "I don't know you."

"I'm Maple," Maple whimpered. "From Cove of Stars."

"We've been waiting for you," he said. "Come with me."

~•~

"Why?" Maple demanded, leaping to her paws.

"Azalea wants to speak to you," he said.

Maple reluctantly followed him to a huge den. Azalea was sitting outside with a tall brown wolf.

"Hi," Azalea mumbled. "Um. Maple, this is my cousin Pyrite. Pyrite, this is Maple."

Pyrite nodded, flicking her tail.

Two wolves climbed onto a stump. One, a light cream she-wolf with black rosettes and a white muzzle, called out, "Flowerstones, join us!"

Five or six other wolves joined them under the stump, followed by three pups.

"This is Maple," the she-wolf said. "Maple, I am Mica. My mate here is Pokeweed. We are the Flowerstone alphas, and we would like to invite you to live with us."

THE END
