i got sheldon 6 years ago from a pet store. he had a few medical issues when we got him, nothing severe. he got to be very healthy and happy. at this point, he was just a pet. i feel so awful. i didnt play with him like i used to, nobody else did at all. he was just there. and tonight he passed away. i am so absolutely heartbroken. you walways wish you had done more with them. we used to go on walks and sit outside together, and he would sleep on my stomach and accidentally thump on me when he got too excited. his favorite treats were shaped like hamburgers. i know he's just a bunny, and if it was his time then it was his time, but it hurts so bad to know that i wont ever hear him jumping around anymore |

I don't know really what to say except I know exactly how you feel. It's hard losing a pet and yeah after they are gone it's hard not to remember the bad stuff you did to them like ignoring them. Around four years ago I lost my family dog, she was the best dog my family had ever had. I'm still heartbroken when I think of her because I know I'll always miss her. |

one of the best things to do after a pet dies is get another fairly quick but tell yourself it is not a replacement just another pet. |

That's not always true. I speak from personal experience. My cat passed away earlier this year and it was extremely hard for me to move on. She was a sibling to me, as she lived with me for 19 years. When she passed I was so heartbroken that I couldn't look into the yard anymore. Sometimes I still think I see her in the yard and take a double glance, but it's a pair of boots. I still sometimes see her curled up in her favorite spots. About 2 months after her passing, me and my mother started looking for a new cat, but they all just reminded me of her. Don't push yourself too much into getting a new pet, we recently got kittens a few months ago, and I just knew when I saw them, that they were the cats for me. Even though one of the cats slightly resembles her, I still feel good about it. Don't rush into getting a new pet, the right one will come to you. |
