Plot

Fae and dragons have been enemies since the dawn of time. Territory disputes, conflicts, and bloody skirmishes have marred their entire histories, and the enmity between them has only grown over the centuries. Fae decorated their courts with the bones of dragons while dragons displayed Fae hearts in their own clans. Each had become a "kill on sight" for the other, culminating in the largest war that either species ever endured. Now, fifty years into the war, a very uneasy, tense truce has been reached out of necessity.

Monsters are emerging from their dens radiating a thick, dark energy. Previously eradicated creatures are back with unseen strength and fury, leaving death and a literal darkness in their wake. Neither fae nor dragons can fight them off alone, especially when trying to win a three-way war. The elders of the courts and clans agreed to join together to create a counterattack, and they have sent their warriors to find the source of the monsters' power. But can eons of malice be set aside so easily?

1. Before you go hunting through the rules, I'm not gonna ask for a hidden word or anything, so you don't need to try and find any codes or missing numbers or anything. But please read the rules anyway <3

2. Follow the WP site and RP rules

3. 200+ words per response with the exception of writer's block. Please be active!

4. Images are acceptable if credited properly, but you must still write a good 150+ word appearance. Either that or provide an RP sample that accurately displays YOUR literacy (it's pretty easy to tell when someone's had chatgpt write them something)

5. Personality can be bulleted, but please elaborate a little. We want to get to know your character(s)

6. No overpoweredness. And, while drama is good, please don't make this a soap opera

7. Max 4 characters for now. Because the dragons don't necessarily have to let the fae ride them, I'm also not too worried about the ratio between the two

8. Every fae and dragon can have a maximum of 2 abilities for now. Otherwise, they'd be unstoppable. The ones I've listed on the Information post are just ideas; feel free to come up with your own

F A E -- I N F O R M A T I O N

Fae are elemental beings. They hail from one of four courts: Earth, Fire, Air, or Water. Each court is ruled by a council of ten High Fae, with a king or queen at its head, all eleven of which serve in the position their entire lives unless ousted. All fae range in height from 5 to 8 feet tall, though some may be a little shorter or taller. Each also displays abilities and physical attributes unique to their court and lineage. While height is not part of their sexual dimorphism, female fae do have longer, sharper nails -- more like talons -- and also typically have longer ears. Males, on the other hand, often have sharper or longer teeth and harder muscling.

Each fae's heart is a glowing, magical stone; they can sustain insurmountable injuries that would be fatal to any other creature, but if their heart is broken (literally) or removed from their body, they will die. A special poison made from the ground heartstones of dead fae also causes death when ingested, or inhibition of abilities if a fae comes into contact with it; the poison will shatter the heart. Because of fae durability and the likelihood of their heartstones shattering upon their demise, to display an intact one is seen as impressive and a show of strength among dragons.

Fae live for around 1000 years. Infants are 0-5, toddlers are 5-10, children are 10-30, adolescents are 30-50, young adults are 50-150, adults are 150-600, and elders are 600+.

Earth Court Characteristics

Earth fae have skin, hair, and eye tones that match those of nature. Because of the vast array of colors, they often look like they could fit in with other courts easily, and many do. Because of their affinity with the things of the earth, many of these fae are merchants, selling the bounties of their kinsmen.

Earth fae abilities include: communication with or control of flora or fauna, manipulation of minerals or earth itself, near-impenetrable skin, heat or cold resistance, chameleon skin, etc. Their heartstones are varying shades of green, and thus so is their blood.

Fire Court Characteristics

These fae look like lights, fires, and the aftermaths thereof. Their coloration can be anything from blinding white to charred black, and they generally have no pupils in their eyes. Among those who do have pupils, slits are most common. They are known for their jewelry, fireproof clothing, and stone dwellings.

Their abilities include: fire creation and manipulation, being fireproof, enhanced physical abilities in the heat or daytime, or anything else that has to do with flame, heat, or light. Their heartstones are varying shades of orange, and so is their blood.

Air Court Characteristics

Air fae are generally grayscale, though several have markings like stars or clouds (like vitiligo) on their skin. It is not uncommon for them to lack irises and pupils altogether, and their scleras are often shades of blue. They may also have wings.

Their abilities include: air and current manipulation, levitation and antigravity, temperature imperviousness, etc. Their heartstones and blood are white.

Water Court Characteristics

These fae are often blue, though they can display any coloration or pattern of anything in aquatic areas. They may have webbed ears or extremities and gills. Many don't have a sclera at all.

Their abilities include: water or blood manipulation, control of ice or rain, healing, pulling memory from the water, etc. Their blood and heartstones are blue.

D R A G O N -- I N F O R M A T I O N

Dragon appearances vary greatly, even among subspecies. Their shoulder height ranges from 3-16 feet, length 10-40, and wingspan 10-40. All dragons have an Achilles' Heel right beneath their sternum, where there is a soft spot in their otherwise tough hide or scales.

Their lifespan is about 1000 years. Hatchlings are 0-5, whelps are 5-10, fledglings are 10-30, adolescents are 30-50, young adults are 50-150, adults are 150-600, and elders are 600+.

Each clan has a lead dragon generally chosen by bloodline, and their descendants are referred to as heirs (even if they're 50th in line).

R O L E S -- A N D -- C H A R A C T E R S

Each clan and court has sent some of their best and brightest soldiers on the mission to scout out the source of the monsters' shadowy power. They may be heirs to their groups, assassins, advisors, or mere citizens, but they are now banded together. Because of the sudden formation, the leadership is unstable and not necessarily respected, especially as it has nothing to do with the traditional blood hierarchy that each species is used to.

Thoughts on the Truce: She is quite tired of the petty fights between them all, so a part of her welcomes the truce. On the other hand, she was only one water fae heartstone away from a complete collection, so that's disappointing.

Cyra is a decently sized creature, reaching 15' at shoulder and 30' long from tip to tail. She has a lean, sinewy body that resembles the shape of a greyhound's; long front limbs also function as her wings, though she is capable of using them to run, grab, and reach. She has a full hand at the end of each with razor sharp claws. Her hind legs are stereotypical ones with powerful haunches and raptor-like feet. She has one raised toe and claw on each of them. Her whiplike tail has a thick, downy tuft of fur along the end, like a lion's, that can catch fire but will not burn or singe.

Her scales are tight and smooth, almost snakelike but with more definition. Her base color is a golden one, and she has a red-orange shimmer akin to watching dancing flames. Along Cyra's dorsal line, her scales are more red, and her underside is lighter. A pair of thick, white, slightly curved horns shoot out of her skull in a streamlined fashion. Small, sharp, bony protrusions decorate the middle ridge of her face and, once they hit her neck, transition into a sort of exoskeleton of mirrored vertebrae. Hooked, riblike braces curve down from them, providing some extra protection to her neck and raising the fear factor.

Her head is long and refined with a slight point at the tip of her upper lip beneath her nostrils. Her upper canines protrude slightly, and her mouth is turned into a faint, wicked smile. Cyra'analeth's eyes lack pupils. Rather, they are a glowing white void. Staring into them is peering into the soul of the burning furnace that will incinerate you. Because of their nature, it's basically impossible for anyone to gauge her emotions by looking at her eyes, and her tone of voice or body language must be used as a guide instead.

Her voice is low and sultry, with a snakelike hiss underlying it. Her words are almost crooning, unsettling and promising poison instead of sweetness. Her movements are strong and predatory as well; she is not a dragon to be messed with. The discomfort she brings strangers in close proximity is enhanced by the heat and glow she normally radiates.

Personality

Her hot temper matches the stereotypical fire-type dragon classes. She is feisty and a bit snappish, purring out death threats that nobody knows whether or not to take seriously. Her sense of humor is fairly morbid, though more innocent topics may still amuse her. She is not a social creature; being around others is draining, and it doesn't take much to get on her nerves. While Cyra'analeth could wait centuries to win a battle or lie in wait for an enemy, this uncanny patience does not extend to other dragons or people. She is not tactful in her words and does not spare anyone's feelings; her philosophy is to say it like it is and not waste time.

She is also extremely stubborn and difficult to persuade. This female remains fairly neutral in many things, but when she is set in one direction, that is the direction and it will not be deviated from. She leaves room open for input in her strategies, though, as she would rather be correct the first time than allow her pride to be the downfall of her comrades. She has a scheme for everything; Cyra is always plotting about even the littlest things. Her attention to detail and astute observations make her excellent at being able to take everything into consideration, and she's quite good at reading the room.

She does not easily lose her head. Even when she is furious, this dragon remains composed, though she makes her feelings very clear. There are no rage-storms or tantrums. She likes to watch her enemies suffer, and she can't exactly do that if she blows them off the face of the earth too soon. This dragon is bloodthirsty and somewhat of a warmonger, and she certainly has some sadistic tendencies. Cyra is one to go all out with her vengeance and retaliation as well, ensuring that whoever crossed her, or someone she is acting on behalf of, will be unable to do so ever again.

Cyra is territorial with any mate, family, and others she has "adopted" as her family. She can be overprotective and is loyal to a fault to those whom she deems worthy. While most creatures won't even get her attention, those who gain her love and trust will get her world. She will move heaven and earth for them, and no stupid rule is going to stand in her way. Her morals may be a bit gray, but family is her priority and will always remain such.

Abilities

Solar Flare: She can pull the light and heat from warm objects (mainly the sun or an already-existing flame) towards her and let it build, releasing it in a flaming shock wave. The longer she holds it, the greater the blast radius. These flares must be used with caution, as she gives up her own body heat to use the ability and does not do when hypothermic.

Refraction: She can bend heatwaves around flaming or smoldering objects near her to create a mirror or mirage, effectively hiding whatever she's manipulated. She has to do it to individual objects, but once completed, it takes very little power to keep up as long as the sun is out and the fire is burning. Once it gets dark, and the colder it gets, it becomes unsustainable.

Thoughts on the Truce: The war started when he was an adolescent; he remembers the entire thing very well, and he is not about to trust a bunch of overgrown lizards with his surviving family members' lives. However, he also isn't going to go around starting fights with them.

Standing at 7'5, he is among the tallest of his kind, and his physique is a hardy, muscular one. While he is still considered lean, his frame is one made for strength and endurance rather than speed and nimbleness. He is quite agile, but he lacks flexibility and is much better at quick movements with a weapon than he is doing parkour. Ivan is all muscle and sinew, and his chiseled features accentuate as much, giving him a carved-from-stone appearance. This man has an assortment of scars, but his most notable -- by far -- is the massive chunk missing from the middle of his left ear. It is now held together by a piercing that acts as a brace, and he never takes it out; when/if he does, the further end flops over, and he thinks it looks ridiculous. He has half a mind to just cut the rest off, sometimes.

His round, stormy gray eyes hold a hint of green, contrasting slightly with the regular whites and the blood vessels therein. They are places beneath straight, furrowed brows and rimmed with creases. His skin is a warm, golden-bronze whose shadows and highlights change dramatically depending on the lighting. It is interrupted by the pinker, slightly paler colors of old scars. His hair is a deep, deep red-brown -- almost black -- and turns to a slightly lighter maroon or blood color in the sunlight. Ivan keeps the sides and back of his head closely shaved or otherwise short, and the top hair is pulled back into a short ponytail. It would only reach his jaw if let down, but he prefers to keep it up. Two longer, braided strands hang down from either temple.

He has a strong, confident voice that is fairly low and and a silky bass. He walks with purposeful, firm strides, and generally appears sure of himself. Some may see it as arrogance, but he does not intend it to be so. His presence is cold and foreboding despite his warmer coloration, giving him an air of unpredictability. When he fidgets, Ivan will twist one braid between his pointer finger and thumb, or he'll work his jaw (the stronger jawline may very well have originated from this habit).

Personality

He has a convincing way with words, able to use them in a way that makes him an excellent public speaker. Ivan knows how -- and when -- to stir an audience and push them in any direction with his eloquence, and he uses this to further his own devices at times. He is quite charismatic and charming. However, it never quite seems to reach his eyes; he has never been one for making close friends, and while he is friendly with most in the clan, there is no one that he will confide in. Not even his own family.

Ivan keeps his personal worries and insecurities to himself, outwardly displaying a poised, calm front. And, generally, it is not a false face. He is an honest man, though he is not above telling white lies here and there. He is good at maintaining the peace, whether that be through physical or verbal means. He is a leader, as he has been brought up to be, and strives for perfection. Too much is on the line for him to fall short in any way. Ivan is ambitious and strategic, concerned with keeping the students thriving and at the top of the food chain. They may have lost the powers of the school, but that does not mean they are weak or ripe for destruction.

He is a stubborn creature, and his stoicism is borderline self-destructive at times. He has a habit of ignoring his injuries of any kind and will overexert himself at times, but he refuses help until he can't hide his situation. Ivan is also very observant of others, making him a bit of a hypocrite when insisting others rest or otherwise take care of themselves at the same point that he would not. Despite being a cold, mule-headed grump, Ivan is an altruistic and loyal individual. Even if he doesn't particularly like someone in the clan, he will fight for them. His competitive and ambitious nature often gets in the way of friendships and familial relations, but he still cares for them even if he sucks at showing it.

He is also not afraid of doing what must be done. Hunting, battle, or otherwise (justly) ending a life has never upset him, nor is it ever likely to. He respects life, but death is a path that is central to mortality, and he doesn't mind that fact. This man sticks to his morals, though, and scorns murder or subterfuge. He's a good lie detector, too, and tries to prove himself trustworthy to others, as his own lies -- however small they may be -- irritate him the most.

Abilities

Metal Manipulation: Ivan can cause metallic elements and substances to bend to his will, creating or fixing weapons or tools quickly and efficiently. The metal must be above ground and already extracted from the rock around it, though, so he usually has a few spare pieces on hand.

Seer -- By touching a living plant or animal, he can connect himself to it and extract memories and information. It's harmless, but it is an easy source of intel and also gives him an affinity for wildlife. This ability also allows him to take away some of the emotion or feeling associated with a memory, which can be used to ease pain, among other things.

Thoughts on the Truce: A truce can't magically erase all of history, and she has beef with a particular solar dragon that now has to remain unresolved. She doesn't like it.

Abilities

Fireproof -- Just as it sounds, she cannot be burned, and inhaling smoke doesn't bother her. While she looks perpetually sunburned, her skin and hair are impervious to heat damage. She can still overheat, though; the temperature resistance can only go so far.

Burning Skin -- She can heat her body up enough to melt most metals. This helps blunt metal or physical attacks, and it also helps to prevent illness in herself.

Thoughts on the Truce: He's fine with the truce, but grouping fae and dragons together so soon was a really dumb idea. So, it was probably the fae's idea.

He is a massive dragon. With a height of 20 feet at the shoulders and a length double that, Shoteka is an intimidating creature. His body is lean but muscular, and his build is one made for battle. Shoteka has no exceptional boost in agility or strength; rather, he stands solidly in the middle, able to use either to his advantage to some degree.

His body scales are a cold blue in color, and they reflect much like an ice sculpture. In the light, the shadows on them become a pitch black while they reflect a glistening white. They are small and tightly knit together, much like a snakeskin, with size gradually increasing into sharp, paired ridges along his back and neck that are a circular-edged diamond shape. Tek's head, half of his tail, and up to his hocks and knees are black with a cobalt tinge, and these gradient into his main scaling. They have less shine to them, though they are still sleek in appearance.

His head hosts fanning, none of which are very long. Two rows of small protruding spikes become progressively longer as they travel up Shoteka's long, handsome, regal face, starting from his snout. They meld in with his fans, of which he has several short, defined spikes.

Each of the latter is pointed away from his face in a streamlike way. A thin sheet of icy skin stretches between them. These frills frame his face, starting at his cheekbones and curving around to the back of his skull. Two longer spikes protrude in line with his eyes. These, too, have flaps connecting them to the main crown, though they are set just behind the smaller frill. They appear more as horns than a second layer of frill, and they are not connected to one another.

His eyes are like sapphires. Their coloring is amplified by a lack of shine in the scales around his eyes. They shift colors like the cut gemstone, ranging from a deep aqua to piercing electric blue depending on the angle from which they are viewed. Tek always carries a deep, brooding, intelligent look in his brilliant orbs, which are also the only way he really expresses emotion. Shoteka is a smexy dragon, even if his face does not change much.

Long, muscular legs and an equally strong tail provide him with speed, balance, and quick maneuvering when in the air. His claws are a duller black in coloration, as are the spines along his tail and his dewclaws. He is built in a way that allows him to cross land terrain with relative ease, though he has to tuck in his front legs when he flies.

Shoteka's wings are monstrous. They are also a black gradient into the blue base, and they have strong yet pliable ribbing. The skin in between is covered in miniscule scales, much like a butterfly, that resists tearing impressively well and is light enough to catch even the slightest draft. Being the kind of dragon he is, though, Tek is not likely to be found flying outside of a glacial domain.

Personality

Aloof || Intuitive || Observant || Hermit || Perfectionist || Cool-Headed || Blunt

Shoteka is a scarily smart creature. His mind works quickly, and there are few problems he cannot solve if he works on them long enough. He focuses on the big picture of things and then works down to the threads of the smallest details of the inner workings of each functioning element. He is very invested in his tasks and will not move away from them unless they are completed in full.

His attention to detail makes it hard for him to not find fault with things, which in turn puts him in a position in which he is curt and rather blunt. If he knows how to fix something, he will share that information and move on. Tek will hold back from speaking at times, but when he does speak, his words are honest and to the point.

The icy dragon is not one of the feisty-tempered of his kind. Rather, he is extremely aloof. A loner, Tek prefers to work on his various projects away from others and keeps to himself. His feelings are never spoken of, nor are they ever really expressed in any way.

Besides his tendency to avoid socializing, Shoteka is a fairly even-tempered dragon. His time spent dealing with stormy-tempered storm dragons has extended his tolerance of idiocy and his patience, though he will make it very clear if a dragon is annoying him and testing the latter. He is much gentler in his words to dragonets and hatchlings; he expects adult behavior from adults.

The vast majority of his jewelry creations host blue gems, as that is the main one that he can create. Diamonds, onyx stones, rubies, and other precious minerals are rarer, but he uses them occasionally. Jewelry is more what he does when he gets bored, but it is quite ornate.

Tek is a quieter individual, but he is stoic, loyal, and will not back down from a calling. He respects those who deserve it and looks down on those who don't. While this dragon is more secluded, his mannerisms are regal and he speaks and acts like the majestic creature he is.

Sub-Zero: Shoteka can drop the temperature within a certain radius of himself, shooting it into the negatives with ease. The strength of the freeze depends on how cold Tek is: the lower his own temperature is, the greater the ability. While he can use it in warmer climates, it acts more like a quick walk into the freezer than anything dangerous.

Ice Formation: He can create ice projections anywhere on or near his body. This is most commonly used to create extra spikes or a pseudo-armor. The ice grows rapidly when touching him directly, though creating things on the ground or in the clouds a ways off from him takes more time. As the ice is relatively unnatural, it lasts longer than typical water-based ice, though it will still melt in warmer temperatures.

She's... intrigued. Ever since she was little, Kelsi has heard the tales of the dragons that have battled it out with her own kind for eons. She doesn't exactly know what to think of the dragons as individuals, and she isnt sure if it was the best idea to push them and her own kind together so suddenly. However, she is aware that whatever darkness is coming onto the lands is approaching quickly, and having whatever hands- or in this case, claws too- will only do everyone good.
