The Territory Pack Traditions / Culture Apprentice Ceremony For apprentices - this is a time of great excitement, they are beginning their journey into the pack. But first, they must offer something to the Lord and Lady to prove themselves as willing and ready to provide for the pack. What they bring to their ceremony is a reflection of the role they hope to obtain within the pack. - A rabbit pelt for hunters to demonstrate agility/quick thinking. - The fangs/claws of a predator for warriors to demonstrate strength/resilience. - Feathers from a bird for sentinals to demonstrate observance/strategy. - A fish for healers to demonstrate dexterity/precision. They present their offering to the Lord and Lady and swear their loyalty to the pack. And afterwards they are assigned their mentor and touch noses with said mentor. Hunter's Ceremony Once an apprentice has finally completed their training and passed their test ; this test is to hunt a rabbit, a bird, and a fish and do this before the sun sets to show they are agile and quick enough to keep up during the hunt ; which will be proctored by the Second-In-Command Male. After successfully completing this test, they are tasked with leading a deer hunt and must successfully hunt one (and again this will be proctored ) Once they complete these two tests, the next day - the pack hunters led by the Second-In-Command Male all dress in pelts and they hunt for a deer herd - the new hunters are allowed to make the killing bite for the deer(s). And then they must each feast on the heart of the deer . Warrior's Ceremony Once an apprentice has completed their test ; which consists of a duel with their former mentor ; the object of the spar is to remove a designated object from their mentor - they can chose whether it be a earring or necklace piece and it is witnessed by the Elders of the pack and the Lord & Lady. After they prove themselves worthy of becoming a warrior, they obtain a mark that signifies their warrior status and as they join in battles they get a notch on an ear - usually filled with a fang of some sort, for each battle they've been in and won. The more notches they have - the more respected they are as warriors. Healer's Ceremony Once a healer has show interest in completing their path ; they must begin a period of fasting. In which for three days they fast and are isolated to the wilderness to study for their exam - they must successfully complete a day as a healer (with no help from their mentor) and then complete an exam given by said mentor to prove their knowledge on herbs, flora, fauna and healing methods and techniques. Once the test is completed ; they begin another journey. The process of Rebirth. The new healer is adored ; if male they are adored in feather and herbs, and if a girl they are adorned with flowers and in addition their faces are painted with the dye of crushed flowers and berries. They then make a silent journey - apprentice and mentor, to the Crystal Caves where the apprentice walks in the lake and submerges themselves and comes out "reborn" and they take a sacred oath as a Healer and then sleep near the crystals to commune with their Ancestors and the God Of Life. Once they come home, they are welcomed back with a bountiful feast. Pack Law Edited at February 27, 2024 05:34 PM by Spellbound
