|~| Irfam |~|
How does your character feel about their own physical appearance?
Oooh boy. A lot to unpack here. Uhm… Hm… Consciously, Irfam doesn’t really like it. They don’t feel comfortable with a lot of how they look nowadays. It sucks, but they can’t fix it. And they know they can’t fix it, so they think they’ve adapted pretty well to it. Subconsciously though? They are disgusted, they are disfigured and sickening. They hate it. Appearance alone is enough to make them hate everything about themself. Pretty big denial about hating it though, which is obvious by the conscious thought.
How does your character react in social situations where they're forced to be around strangers? What about friends?
Strangers? He tries to hold back some of his eccentric personality, usually to less avail than he’d prefer, but he still tries to be social, unless it’s obvious no one wants him there. Friends? He doesn’t reign in his eccentricity as much, though still tries somewhat, and will definitely rant about anything and everything unless they show even the slightest hint of not wanting to hear it/listen to it/be around him.
Are they good at expressing their emotions or more stoic?
Uhm… That’s a hard one. They’re great at expressing positive emotions! They try not to bring anyone down by being upset or negative though. They aren’t exactly stoic though. They’re very emotional, very loud, and very expressive. They just don’t express negatives often. That isn’t what people want to see, after all. Especially in Everlong.
When was the last time they cried?
Ooookay. Let’s think. Hmmmm. Is it right to say that it’s been a year or three? Or was it more recent? Hm… Probably more recent, honestly. He tries not to, but if he accidentally caught sight of a mirror in the last month… Well, who can blame him?
Where do they fall on the scale of introversion and extroversion?
Hehe. Either 100% introvert or 100% extrovert, there’s no inbetween. Some days, they’ll be talking and talking to anyone and everyone about anything and everything. Others? They’ll be hiding out in their room unwilling to come out at all. Even for food.
What is their outlook on life like?
“Life is something beautiful, something amazing, and something almost completely left in the realm of the unknown and undiscovered. There’s still so much people don’t know, and if it takes a few explosions to figure that stuff out? To truly learn and see how wonderful this world can be? Well, not like there’s much left for a fire to take off of me, right?”
Do they have a life philosophy?
“You gotta be able to make sacrifices. If something requires blowing someone up and you may get caught in the explosion? You don’t have time to think, you just have to do it. And hey! You may survive! Who knows?”
What is their alignment (ie. Good, true neutral, chaotic evil)?
Most certainly Chaotic Good. They aren’t afraid to blow something up for the people they care about.
Do they have certain words or phrases they use frequently? (ie. "Hmmm. Fuck.")
Just stoppers like ‘Uhm’ or ‘Uh’ or ‘Um’. Otherwise, not particularly.
How do they handle stress?
Ignore it, deny it, shove it aside, and keep on going. Way too much to do to let himself take a rest, way too many explosions to plan too.
Where do they like to go to unwind?
Somewhere they can blow things up. Bombs are really soothing, believe it or not. Or just their room, which also works as somewhere to blow things up at.
How adaptable are they to new situations?
Irfam is actually very adaptable in new situations. As long as one thing can be connected to a different experience, he can figure it out.
When was the last time they told a lie? Do they have a bad opinion of liars?
Hm… Well, technically, they’re constantly lying in order to be in Everlong. But that lie is for a good reason! But, then again, Irfam also just lies sometimes on accident about random things too. Either way, they don’t have a very good opinion on liars, but if the lie is for a reason that makes sense? They’ll move on along.
Do they make promises? Have they ever broken a promise?
Yes and yes. Irfam will make promises and try to keep them as much as possible. Promises that he’s broken though are ones that eat at him. He does not like breaking promises.
What annoying or bad habits do they have?
Oooo boyyyy. Tons. So many. Irfam doesn’t take care of themself, they’re very self-sabotaging, and self-destructive. Also just them talking, they’ve been told they can be very annoying just by talking. And ranting. And getting hyper-fixated on things. Like explosions. And covering every mirror or reflective surface they own so they have no idea what they look like most of the time. We could keep going but uh, you get the point.
Are they prejudiced towards certain groups of people?
Uhm… Not really? Maybe the Queen herself? But even then… Maybe she’s just hurting? Irfam doesn’t know.
What's their sense of humor like?
Broken. Really, really broken. A mix of slapstick, dark, sarcastic, snarky, and some humor that only they tend to understand.
What makes them sad? *cue the sad puppy commercials*
Okay, uhm. Seeing people sad, seeing people hurt, seeing people suffering, seeing people struggling- Just, anything negative happening to other people. Friends especially, and even more especially if it’s those friend’s own doing.
What gets on their nerves?
Themself(everything about themself), laws that get in the way of science, mistreatment of other people, and hmm… Ah, right, friends not taking care of themselves.
What things do they like or obsess over?
Science, explosions, information, creating things, engineering, inventing, random trivia. He’s all over the place.
What's the thing (physical or abstract) they want more than anything else?
Physical: Fix their… Everything. Please. They can’t deal with this (disgusting, nauseating, repulsive, disfigured, grotesque-) appearance they have now.
Abstract: He wants those he cares about to be okay, happy, safe- You know, all that good stuff.
When was their first kiss?
Uhm… Irfam remembers one, but they aren’t sure it actually happened… They hope it didn’t.
How did their first relationship end?
He has never been in one, that much Irfam knows is certain.
Have they ever been in love?
No. Irfam hasn’t ever really paid attention to any of that stuff either though.
Have they ever had their heart broken?
Not romantically!… A few different ways though, yes. Definitely yes.
How do they flirt?
Flirting? Ha! As if they could possibly flirt with anything other than science puns! They still suck at it.
How do they display affection differently to their friends, families, and romantic interests?
Irfam is clingy. He’ll be the first to admit. Hugs, half hugs, just being in their personal space… Also taking care of them anyway he can though. If he notices they aren’t taking care of themselves, he will drop everything to help. If he sees that one of them has a problem(ie, Darwin’s one arm), he’ll try to fix it for them somehow.
Do they get jealous?
…Yes. Unfortunately, they do get jealous. They know, they know! It’s bad to compare and get jealous and obsess over what others have that they don’t! But- But- They used to have some of that stuff! Is it really so bad that they want it back? They want a normal face- They want friends, and real ones not ones that are only friends with them because they pity them- They want to be able to walk around without carrying a cane- They want to not have to wear a mask all the time- They want to be able to look in a mirror without punching it or throwing up or crying or all three- Why do other people get to enjoy life?! Why can’t they?! Did they really mess up that badly to deserve this?!
How do they react to rejection?
Depends. What kind of rejection? Did he fail to notice signs of it earlier? At the first hint of rejection, Irfam excuses himself and avoids that person as much as possible. If he somehow managed to miss any and all hints? Yeah, he’s not going to take it lightly. He’ll act respectful, shrug it off in front of everyone- He’s totally questioning reality though.
How do they react if someone they aren't particularly interested in expresses interest in them?
Time to question reality! How the fuck does anyone like them? Irfam may end up convincing themself that they also like them and end up in that scenario somehow, or they may end up thinking it’s a joke and try laughing. Either way, the outcome probably isn’t nice for anyone.
How confident are they (with relationships or otherwise?)
Relationships? Haha, kill him now. He has no confidence, whatsoever. Otherwise? Fluctuates. A lot. All the time. In relation to reality? Is there such a thing as confidence that goes into the negatives?
Are they forgiving or do they hold grudges?
Both. For themself? Haha, grudges for life. Other people though? You could kill someone and they’ll most likely forgive you as long as you have a good reason for it.
Do they believe in redemption?
Oh most definitely. For everyone except for himself. He does something wrong? That’s it, that’s his only chance. Basically anyone else though? Here’s fifty chances, hope you’re doing alright, have a good life.
What's their reputation like? Is it different in different circles? Do they like their reputation or would they like to be perceived differently?
Oooooh boyyyy.
In Everlong? Irfam is definitely seen as eccentric, just barely normal enough in terms of personality to not be kicked out. Their intelligence makes up for the rest, apparently. Most people in Everlong still don’t like them though, seeing them as a stain or smear on Everlong’s greatness. They can’t help but agree. Within the Exiled though? Definitely still eccentric, weird, and odd. Their intelligence also isn’t in question. A bit much, to some, sure, but they make sure to avoid those people so as to not make them uncomfortable. They’re also seen as generous, kind, and helpful, Irfam’s pretty sure the group mostly just puts up with them because they have to though…
Do they like to think on their feet or plan ahead?
Both..? Kinda… Irfam likes to have plans, is paranoid enough to have tons of plans for basically every situation- He just… Ends up never using them. He tends to think on his feet, even though he has plans for everything. Call him reckless, he usually still follows his plans somewhat. He has them drilled into his mind at this point to make sure that he has the best chance in any situation regardless of how much he actually follows the full thing.
Do they struggle with impulsiveness?
Oh most certainly. You are looking at the king of having no impulse control. They want to blow something up, chances are that they’ll blow something up. Anytime they aren’t doing something impulsively though, they’re overthinking and self-criticizing and just overall bullying themself.
Do they have any nervous ticks?
Hand fidgeting, feet fidgeting(when sitting down), taking out a spare wire he keeps on him and just messing with it, biting his lip, biting his fingernails(the mask makes that harder though so it doesn’t happen much nowadays), scratching the back of his neck, scratching his head, frantically looking around a room for no reason, bouncing in a seat, tapping his feet, mumbling to himself about random things, and probably a ton more.
What are their most positive and negative character traits? What about their most prominent character traits?
Positive: Empathetic.
Negative: Self-Destructive/Self-Sacrificial.
Prominent: Intelligent.
Do they have any regrets in life? What do they feel most guilty about?
Irfam regrets a ton of stuff. He has so many regrets. Just an insane amount of regrets. Let’s not get into what he feels most guilty about though, too hard of a choice…
What achievement are they most proud of?
Uhm… All of their inventions and scientific discoveries? Adopting Agnar?
What is their first memory?
Unsure. What constitutes something as a first memory? The first he remembers perfectly? The first he remembers at all? The first that adds substantial value to his character/person?
Their fondest memory?
When they adopted Agnar! Easiest question ever!
Their worst memory?
Too many options. He can’t choose. There are way too many options. He doesn’t want to think about any of them either.
What smells remind them of the past?
-Acid.
-Blood.
-Different Types of Smoke.
-Paper.
-Ink.
-Rust.
-Different Types of Fires.
-Alcohol.
And some other things that they do not want to get into right now.
What's the most beautiful thing they’ve ever seen?
Everything that isn’t himself. Beauty is subjective, and he can’t find it in himself to pick something as most beautiful. After all, the answer could change depending on different factors or categories. Always though, he is never the answer. Never will be the answer, especially now.
What are their greatest fears, both physical and abstract?
Ah. Fears. Great. Irfam has a ton of fears, some bigger than others. For main ones, they’re terrified of being abandoned, of being left behind by those they care about(it’s better for Irfam to leave on their own). They also are terrified of mirrors nowadays, of seeing their reflection, or of just being without their mask. They’re terrified of being found out by Everlong. And they are especially terrified that nothing they know is real, that reality is fake, or that someone has lied to them to make them believe one thing about reality when another thing is actually true. Oh, and large crowds, crowds are horrifying to be in. And those they care about dying or getting hurt. Oh, and of trauma repeating itself. Ughh, there’s too much that they’re terrified of.
What are their goals or ambitions?
Irfam actually has a ton of goals. Fix the kingdom of Everlong, allow his child Agnar to have a better/happier life, make Darwin a working arm, help anyone and everyone he possibly can, and make plenty of scientific discoveries and inventions.
Do they have a fatal weakness?
Haha. Yes. Multiple, honestly. Their paranoia, their insomnia, their terrible immune system, their workaholic tendencies, their self-destructive behaviors, how selfless they are, how absent-minded they are, their recklessness, their impulsiveness, their anxiety, their hallucinations, their delusions, their extreme curiosity, and so many other things too.
How do they react to criticism, praise, or other judgments cast on them?
Badly. For all of those. Criticism makes him feel small, though he won’t mention it to others. Praise makes him feel like it’s only a matter of time before they take it back or that they’re only giving it out of pity. And other judgements? Depends, usually similar to praise and/or criticism though.
Are they competitive? How so?
Yes and no. It depends on what it is and if they have strong enough opinions/feelings on it. Or enough information on it.
Has anyone ever saved their life?
…More often than Irfam would like to admit… Far more often than he would like to admit… Causing and being in explosions can cause that.
What things are they very opinionated about?
Science! Explosions! The unknown! Their appearance… Oh, and basic human rights.
How do they respond to threats and conflict?
It changes from conflict to conflict and threat to threats He almost never responds to conflict the same way twice. Mostly because of his lack of impulse control.
Are they trusting of strangers? What about friends?
Yes and no? To both? They’re usually paranoid and prepare (as much as they possibly can as Irfam) for worst case scenarios. They also trust most people to not be a worst case scenario though. Well, you know, in theory. Even when they trust someone though, they still prepare for worst case scenarios. And even if they don’t trust someone at all, they’ll still listen to what they have to say and may end up believing whatever the person had to say.
How do they defend themselves weapon-wise?
Bombs? Their cane? Just being overly eccentric and unpredictable? Bombs are best though, those are the most fun.
Do they have any special skills or training?
Uhm… Actually- Yes! They do! In making bombs! And defusing them, technically. But mostly making them! And just inventing, engineering, and science in general, I suppose. Mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, you name it!
What causes, people, or ideas, would they put their lives on the line for?
Everyone he cares about, getting rid of the Everlong hierarchy, and uhm… This is going to seem stupid but convincing people that the unknown isn’t scary and is actually a beautiful thing. And that explosions are actually awesome and totally way more helpful than people think!
How do they treat their hierarchical superiors/inferiors?
Uhm… Well, Irfam tries to treat them with respect, everyone deserves it and all(except for them). But uh, either way, they aren’t sure how well they succeed in that…
If they could change one thing about themselves, what would it be?
Only one thing..? Um… He isn’t sure… There’s a lot he wants to change… His appearance, his entire personality, his trauma, his everything. He doesn’t want any of it. He hates all of it. Just one thing though..? Maybe his inability to accept that these traits are just what he’s stuck with now… He doesn’t know… There’s too much…
Do they have family? If so, what is the nature of their relationship and how do they feel about their family members?
Uhm, none alive. Except for Agnar!!! And Agnar is awesome, just the best. So cool. Agh! They’re so proud of him!!’
How do they treat their friends?
Clinginess, being overbearing, generosity, kindness, friendliness, loyalty, and just being there for them in any way that he possibly can! Unless they don’t want him to be! Then he’ll leave them alone!
Do they have a nemesis? How have they made enemies in the past?
Uhm… Maybe..? They hope not… They can’t remember… They don’t know… Maybe the Queen..? Irfam doesn’t know… They wouldn’t be surprised though…
What kind of people do they get along with naturally? What unlikely people do they count as allies?
He has no idea. Everyone’s unlikely, he supposes. Irfam doesn’t know how any of them tolerate him. At all.
What was your character's background like? How have they developed personality-wise from childhood?
Let’s not talk about all of that. Irfam would rather prefer not to question everything they know today, surely you understand.
What is the worst thing they've done to someone they loved? What about an enemy?
Ooh, haha, it’s the same answer for both! Yay! :D
Killed them. Or, well, blown them up, more accurately.
What's their personal moral code?
“Let’s blow things up for science! Oh, right, and remember to protect the people you care about, regardless of the consequences to yourself. Haha, I totally didn’t forget that for a moment there…”
Also…
“Being unpredictable can be good! Don’t let your enemies know what to expect out of you! They think you’re about to blow them up? Stab them instead! That works just as well as a bomb usually!”
Were they ever bullied (or have they bullied others?)
Well… It depends on who you ask, Irfam doesn’t know anymore. The whole thing is confusing… But he knows he hasn’t ever bullied anyone at least!
If they could travel back in time, what event would they alter?
Uhm… Again, way too many options… They probably just wouldn’t travel back in time, too many variables and too many options. If they did end up going back in time, maybe whatever event hurt Agnar most..?
What would they ask a fortune-teller?
“Is everyone okay? Did they do it? Is everyone happier without me? How many explosions did it take to finally put me down permanently?”
What advice would they give their younger self?
Along with a list of equations to always quadruple check? “Invest in a cane, go outside more, get some sleep, remember self-care, and uhm… I’m sorry for everything that happens in advance… Hopefully you have a better chance now than what I had… Hehe…”
What do they love to hate?
Uhm, Everlong..? Don’t get him wrong, the scenery is beautiful! The majority of people there need some work though…
Where do they go when they’re angry?
Either to somewhere crowded so they can shove down their anger and pretend it doesn’t exist, or their room in order to hide and shove away the world and pretend that it doesn’t exist. Or somewhere to just cause a few explosions.
What is their current occupation? And do they like their job?
Shadow Perfect. It’s a lot but… Irfam definitely doesn’t mind it, just means there’s less time in the day for him to question everything he knows. Plus, he got to adopt Agnar so… Yeah! Definitely awesome! Technically he’s also an inventor, scientist, engineer right now too… He definitely loves those jobs.
What are some of their past jobs?
None that Irfam can actually remember. They don’t think they ever had any… (No. We are not getting into this.)
Do they have any talents?
Does causing and surviving explosions count? Inventing, science, and engineering…
What is their educational background? Are they more intelligent than average?
Having grown up in Everlong, they have quite a good educational background. Compared to others in the kingdom? Irfam is quite above-average. In fact, they’re recognized as one of the top minds within Everlong.
What's their ideal life that they would be happy living?
…One where he just isn’t himself… One where he doesn’t look like this… One where he doesn’t act like this… One where he doesn’t have these problems… And just one where those he cares about are all happy, and safe, and okay.
What possessions do they use daily?
Mostly their mask, goggles, gloves, and all of their tools they use for work.
What possessions do they value?
His mask, goggles, cane, gloves, anything that covers as much skin as possible, and anything that can cover up reflective surfaces/mirrors.
Do they believe in the afterlife?
Ehh… Irfam knows that there’s something after death, not like they have any idea as to what it is.
What are their religious views?
He doesn’t have any. Not that he’ll ever admit that out loud.
How would they like to die?
Honestly? Saving those they care about, probably in an explosion. Those are just too pretty not to die in, plus- It’d be too ironic if an explosion doesn’t end up killing them at this point.
What is their zodiac sign? Enneagram sign?
Zodiac: Taurus-Gemini Cusp. (May 20th.)
Enneagram: 2w1. (The Companion.)
What are their eating habits?
Anything liquid tends to be both easier and worse for them, both because of trauma. They also just don’t tend to eat much nowadays. Whether this is because they can’t handle not having their mask off long enough, some other trauma, not having time due to work, or some other reason… They just don’t tend to eat unless absolutely necessary at this point.
What's their living space like?
Messy, disorganized, with plenty of marks from fires and explosions. And every mirror and reflective surface is covered up, unless Agnar is coming over- Then there’s one mirror that isn’t covered for if Agnar needs it. He still knows where almost everything is.
Do they like to party? *tunes lute*
Hm… Yes and no. It depends. Sometimes. How much work do they have to do? How bad has their entire existence been recently compared to the average? You know, the normal questions one has to ask.
Ale or wine (or water)?
Depends on his mood and how he’s been doing recently. Technically, he isn’t supposed to drink anything alcoholic, ever. It makes him even more prone to hallucinations and impulsive decisions and all that jazz. At the same time… When has he ever taken that into consideration? If he’s doing terrible and just can’t deal with it all, yeah, he’ll take a drink. If his friends are wanting to go get a drink and he doesn’t have any work to do? Then sure, why not? He’ll join. He does prefer water when it comes to taste or just in general though. So, there is that.
