Herd: Diverged
Every year, from about February to the End of May, the Plains Herd spends the foaling seasons in the large valley in the mountains known simply as North Valley. This year wasn't going to be any different for them, they make the same journey every year to the Valley, their Lead Stallion and Lead Mare working together every year to ensure their safety.
Unfortunately, the fates decided things would go differently. About half way through their journey, a terribly rockslide separated the Herd from its Lead Stallion, forcing the herd to move on towards the valley without any assurance their Lead Stallion was even still alive.
Its been months now, with no sign of hide or hair of him, and with May setting into the valley, the Bachelor Bands are arriving, their intent clear. While there are other herds in the Valley, the Plains herd is the only one without a Lead Stallion to protect them. A small herd with only a Lead Mare at their helm is ripe for the picking from the Bachelor Stallions.
With New Foals and Yearlings to protect, the mares will have to decide, do they wait in hopes that their Lead Stallion is still alive and will arrive to take them back? Or do they decide to accept a new stallion in as their Lead, so at least they'll have protection as the warm weather draws in, bringing with it the last few foals and more dangers to the herds.

3. Stock Images and Artwork are allowed to be used alongside Description Appearances, HOWEVER, you Must follow WP's Rules to Use Images.
4. When I check forms, I check Images first, so if I tell you to fix your images, this doesn't automatically mean your accepted. Please put the duplicate number in your form, but hide it.

6. Read Everything. I'm trying too keep things as short and simple as possible. So do your part and make sure you read all of it.
7. We are somewhere between Semi-Realistic and Realistic in this Rp. Some stallions might be a threat to newly born foals, while others might not be.

The Plains Herd
The Plains herd is a smaller herd, of about 5-7 Adult Mares, maximum, plus their yearlings and foals. They've, up until now, have been lead by a singular Lead Stallion, and his aging Lieutenat who, unfortunately, passed away this year from old age, and have lived relatively easy lives by horse standards. They spend 3/4's of the year in the plains and forest South of the Mountains, and then move to the North Valley for Foaling season from February to the End of May.
There aren't many threats in the North Valley at the beginning of the Foaling seasons, but as the temperatures warm a few predators always make their way in. This includes the one resident Mountain Lion who lives on a Mountain Nearby, but only ever seems to enter the Valley periodically. The main threat, though, as May sets in, is the Pack of Wolves that patrol the Southern Range [where the herd lives most of the year] and through the Mountains to include the North Valley. They know most of the foals are born by then, and can be easy meals with the right tactics. However, they rarely show up before may because they have better hunting areas during the colder months.
With it now being May, all but one or two of the mares will have given birth already to their foals. Those mares will now have to decide to either wait and see if their Lead Stallion returns and mate with him, or accept a new Stallion instead.
The Herd Hierarchy
Lead Stallion Lead Mare Lieutenant Deputy Mare Herd Mares Yearlings Foals
All foals will be 3 Months or less in Age, whereas Yearlings will all be 1 year to 1 year and 4 months, but have to be 11 months older than their foal sibling if they have one. The previous year's yearlings will already have been pushed out.
The Lieutenant was the former Lead Stallion before the current one took over. Since he was an older stallion and no threat to the new one, the LS let him stay as the Lieutenant and continue covering mares while the LS dedicated himself to his Lead Mare. Unfortunately, the old Lieutenant Passed this year during the Winter. All Foals, with exceptions of mares who joined pregnant and the Lead Mare, will be this Lieutenants Foals. Eventually, the LS will find and choose another Lieutenant.

This is Now Open!
The previous Lieutenant was a Amber Champagne Dun Paint Stallion. I'm not going to give him a specific genetic paint marking, so just mark it as any paint markings are acceptable, this does not include appaloosa. This makes it so that there could be a wide variety in his foals, especially depending on what the mom's genetics are. Edited at June 23, 2024 07:04 AM by Imperial Sands

Name:Haloma Age:Six Years Old Gender:Female Herd: None Rank: Lone Mare Desired Rank:Herd Mare for a Herd Appearance: Credit Belongs to EquimazingStock on DA. This is a Stock Image.
Haloma is a mare who, quite often, stands out from a crowd. At only 15 hh tall, she's rather short, even petite, in build. She has a more delicate build than some mares, not overly stocky at all, though her belly is quite round right now as she is still with foal. Since she isn't a very large mare, this pregnancy has taken a toll on her, as she's slowed down, doesn't have much energy, and always seems to be uncomfortable.
However, it isn't her height or even her belly that draws the most attention, instead its her coloration. Being a blue roan tobiano, the mare is a pale canvas with various shades of roaned blue splashed onto it. She has a lighter blue roan color on her sides, flanks, and belly, though most of her body is white. Whereas she has the darker roaned color on her head, primarily around her eyes, and on her ears and nape. She has a pale pink nose, as well as a white mane and tail, though her forelock appears to be more silver.
Being softspoken, and overall quiet, there is a gentle and softness to her tone of voice, it's warm like honey, but not terribly low. Her scent is something more akin to spring rain, though with her being pregnant there is a subtle muskyness to it.
Personality:Kind || Sweet || Motherly || Protective || Patient || Understanding || Gentle || Loving || Empathetic || Quiet || Demure || Go With the Flow || Friendly || Quietly Confident || Sure of Herself || Reliable || Dependable || Soft Spoken

Name:Atiena Meaning "Guardian of the Night" Age:6 Years Gender:Female/Mare Herd:The Plains Herd Rank:Lead Mare Desired Rank:Content. Appearance: Credit Belongs to Alla-Equi on DA. This is a Stock Image.
Atiena is an almost shocking mare to lay eyes upon for the first time. She's goliath for a mare, standing at 17.1 hh, which almost seems unnatural for a female equine, but Ati comes from a line of large sized mares. Often mistaken for a stallion, Atiena is a formidable creature to come across. She has a muscular physique, as since she hasn't mothered too many offspring, she still has a muscled leanness to her instead of the roundness of a more seasons mare. With large hooves, powerful legs, and her distinguished figure, Ati has always taken an active role in the defense of her herd wheneber necessary, and doesn't shy away from violence or danger.
The large mare is also easily identified for her her appearance. With a coal black coat, without the speck of another single color on her, her coat seems impervious even to the sun. Void like in color, the mare sports a true black coat genetically, with a long, unruly mane and tail to match. She has a bit of feathering almost on the back of her hooves, but nothing too noticable, something seen as pretty standard for wild horses. Her eyes are a dark, dark brown, and can often be mistaken for black in certain lights. Ati's vocals are low, and while they're usually warm, they can absolutely turn cold and dangerous.
Personality:Serious | Elegant | Dignified | Strong Willed | Confident | Stubborn as a Mule | Imposing | Noble | Scathing | Acerbic | Critical | Mordacious | Decisive | Determined | Unwavering | Emphatic | Steely | Unyielding | Unrelenting |Fierce | Reliable | Intense | Compassionate & Passionate | Thoughtful | Perceptive | A Bit Impatient at Times | Motherly | Helpful to Others | Deliberate | Direct | Unconventional
Crush:None. Mate:Would likely be considered the Lead Stallion. However, Atiena doesn't really believe in mates currently. It would take quite the stallion to truly steal her heart. Foals:Her Foal this Year is Hawthorn. Hawthorn's father is unknown to the herd, as, with his coat it's unlikely to be the Lead Stallion, but Atiena has been known to choose her foals sires based on perceived strengths and not rank. Open for a Yearling. Possibly Open to a Two Year Old. Kin:Possibly Open Other: Atiena is only so loyal to the Lead Stallion. She wholly believes in following the strongest stallion that lays claim to the herd and can keep them safe. She's content to defend the herd until the Lead Returns, but if another stallion comes forward to try his hoof at leading, if she thinks he is suitable, she will allow him. Name: Sage Age: 6 Gender: Stallion Herd: None Rank: Bachelor Desired Rank: Content Appearance Credits to Staycalmpartyon on DA Sage is a tall, stocky stallion. While he is not the absolute tallest, he stands at an impressive 16 hands and has a broad, muscular build. He was made for battle, not speed, but his movements are quick and graceful nonetheless. Sage is very proportional; while some tall horses could easily be described as more leggy, his legs are sturdy and just thicker than the average equine's. His large head has a slight dish to it, lacking the jugheaded and Romanesque features of some other wild horses. When he moves, his tail hardly raises at all, suggesting that if there was any Arab in him, it has been quite suppressed. His ears also lack any curl whatsoever. Sage was named for his coat, which is a lovely grulla color that carries the dusty cool-gray of sagebrush. His legs and head are a dark slate. His underbelly is slightly lighter than the rest of his body, and this light gradient moves up his front ribs and into his stifle joints as well, at which point his flanks and shoulders become darker. His thick mane and tail are fairly short compared to other horses' and are pitch black. Sage's dark eyes are always slight with an intelligent, witty gleam, and they are truly the windows to his soul. He can stonewall if he wants to, but generally, his emotions will at least be visible in his eyes. His sleek, short coat's sheen allows for improved muscle definition and shows off the various scars he has received, many of which were from fights that he won. There are various notable gashes across his body, though most of them are on his neck and chest as opposed to his flanks and sides. The oldest ones are marked by the lack of coat regrowth, and the newer scars are still tighter skinned and rather shiny. True to his name, his scent is that of sagebrush flowers and crisp rain. Sage's voice is a low, calm drawl. Personality Stubborn || Loner || Wily || Aloof || Confident || Observant || Debonair || Respectful until he's not || Likes foals || Somewhat flirtatious || Does not do well working under anyone else || Mostly patient || To the point Crush: None Mate: None Foals: None Kin Open Other Spirit was always a "wow so cool" dude.
