Rough Plot:
A Herd of Previously Owned mares, ranging in value, age, and breed, roam the hills, taking refuge away from people in the unclaimed lands they now call home. The road after their release was rough, and some have already been lost in the short time since, but the small herd has carved a life out for itself after being released from the confines of their stalls by their previous owner. He knew the odds were low they would all survive, but it gave them a fighting chance when the other option was far worse.
Whispers of a herd of mares, rumored to be unprotected by a stallion, have spread across the lands, drawing the attention of many in search of them. Their bloodlines and value unlike anything seen within the herds has captivated stallions in search of power and prowess. Many believe to capture this band of mares would bring them marvel from other stallions, and would raise them above all others. Bachelors have ventured in search of creating their own herd, while Band Stallions drag their current mares in search of flooding their own ranks with the new stock. Some Herd Stallions have even abandoned their herds in search of the whispered prize.
Not all, though, are happy about this herd's existence. Especially the mares who have been abandoned or forced to journey in search of them, in fact, many of them wish for them to go away so lives can return to normal. They're not afraid to hide how they feel either. New mares, preferred mares, are a threat to their herd hierarchy and so much can change when the favor of a stallion is lost.
Of course, not all have the same mindset as the disgruntled mares or the hungry stallions, some seek this new herd in hopes of providing them a safe life where they are welcome and guided through how to survive as a wild horse.
The rumors though, don't extend to just the horses though. Humans have heard about the existence of this herd, and have begun to search for them in greed. The whispered value of some of the mares enough to draw the attention of many willing to risk coin and life to capture them for their own.
It will be a perilous journey for the mares to remain, but they are determined to, in some way, remain in the wild where the confines of humans can no longer touch them. With the cold chill of the coming winter on the air, it feels like more of a threat than a promise, as the mares will need to not only survive, but protect themselves and their foals from all the threats that come with the promise of winter.

Further Roleplay Information
For this Rp There Will Be: - The Broodmare Herd - The Wild Herd - Bachelor Stallions & Bands
I did not want there to be four different herds, and this way it'll allow better interaction between characters.
The Broodmare Herd This is the Herd of Mares that have come to exist after being released from their home by their previous Owner. They were released because he had gone into too much debt, and would have had to sell everything, and them, to the highest bidder without any sort of guaruntee they would be treated right. Not wanting them to be sold to slaughter or to horrible homes, he elected to release them, believing it to be the best option to give them a fighting chance. The herd consists of mares of extremely high value, so mares of Racehorse lines, Arabians, etc. There aren't going to be many, if any, regular ranch horses, etc. There are no Stallions in the herd, the closest thing there would be is colts who were released with their mothers or born after the fact. In this Herd there are: Mares & Foals. Herd Name: TBD
The Wild Herd This is the Herd of Wild Horses that have come in search of the Broodmare Herd in hopes of adding them to the Herd's Ranks. The Stallion desires nothing but to have the best herd, the most saughter after herd, and the power that goes with it. His mares aren't as happy about his decision to seek out the Broodmare herd, wary of what will come with it if he finds them. They aren't too thrilled to have been dragged from the safety of their home in hopes of finding some "pretty mares" to give their stallion more power among stallions. This also puts his own mares at risk of being stolen by Bachelors taking advantage of his goals. In this Herd There are: Stallions, Mares, Yearlings, and Foals Herd Name: TBD
The Bachelor Bands These are the Bands of Stallions who have herd of the Broodmare herd and desire to find them in hopes of creating their own herd. It is not yet decided among all of them exactly how that will work out or look, but they have decided that working together to achieve their goals gives them the best opportunity. These bands consist of anywhere from two to five stallions at a time, and are lead by the oldest and most experienced of them. Typically, when finding mares, he's the first to branch off and take them to create his own herd, and the next stallion in line taking his position as leader, and then so on and so forth. With so many unclaimed mares around, and herd mares on the way, though, this may change. They tend to work together to steal mares rather than to challenge directly unless necessary. In these Bands there are: Stallions
The Bachelor Stallions These, like the Bachelor Bands, are the stallions without any mares or herds. However, these are the stallions who have chosen to travel alone. Usually they either choose to steal a mare or two when the time arises, or they will challenge a lead stallion directly to takeover. In this case, they aim to arrive to the herd and woo the unclaimed mares into following, and leading them away before any others can. These are just Stallions.
The Lone Mares These are similar, in a sense, to the Bachelor Stallions. They are mares without stallions or any type of herd. They may be with a foal or pregnant, but they are otherwise alone. These Lone Mares in particular [for the purpose of this rp] are looking for a herd for one reason or another. These reasons can include safety and support, power, etc. it's entirely possibly a mare is hoping to take over one of the most sought after mare herds and become it's Lead Mare. Either way, whatever the reason is, these mares want apart of a herd, whether it's the Broodmare Herd, the Wild Herd, or to form their own with a Bachelor Stallion. These are Just Mares, and Maybe their Foal. Edited at September 18, 2022 02:00 AM by Imperial Sands

Important Herd Role Descriptions
For the Broodmare Herd
Lead Mare She is the Mare that Stepped Up to Lead the Mares. They now trust her to lead and guide them as she has done so far. Her word is law, and she is to be respected by all. She ultimately makes the decisions for the herd.
Deputy Mare This is the Mare who is like the Lead Mare's Lieutenant. She is the Most trusted mare of the Lead Mare, and helps faciliate anything the LM needs. She's also the one who will takeover in the event something happens to the LM.
Herd Mares The other mares in the herd. Pretty simple.
Foals These are the horses under the age of 1 that are the offspring of the mares. They were either unborn or newly born foals at the time of the release. Since a few months have passed, most of the foals have been born, there are a few exception, but the ages will range from 1-4 months.
For the Wild Herd
Lead Stallion He is the Leading Stallion of the herd, and everything he says goes. He leads them, and his main job is to protect them, from whatever it may be. His word is law, and he is to be respected. He is the one with majority of the breeding rights to the mares within his herd.
Lead Mare She is the Leading Mare of the herd, and is primarily in charge of the mares. She leads them to safety when the LS is taking care of a threat, and also keeps them in line if the mares start to act out. She helps the LS decide where to go for grazing, and solely chooses where to go for foaling.
Lieutenant The Lieutenant is the other stallion in the herd who is tasked with keeping the herd safe. He doesn't interfere with challenges for LS, but he does protect them from stallions trying to steal mares, or predators attacking, etc. If the LS is gone, he is the Stallion who takes over in his place and will eventually find a new Lieutenant for himself. He has some breeding rights, but he must get permission from the LS.
Herd Mares These are the adult mares who make up the bulk of the herd.
Yearlings These are the young horses over the age of one, but under the age of three.
Foals All horses under the age of one, and the offspring of the mares.
For the Bachelor Bands
Lead Stallion He is the oldest and most experienced stallion of the band, and he leads them. When the band claims mare, he is the one who typically takes them, and breaks off to form a herd.
Band Stallions These are the other stallions in the herd. They respect the hierarchy of age, knowing that the oldest horses get to form herds first. When the LS leaves to form a herd, the next most experienced horse steps up to lead. Sometimes, the LS will take a stallion with him to be a Lieutenant. It's their choice to go or not though.

Name: Astraia Age: 5.5 Years Gender: Female/Mare Herd or Band: The Wild Herd Rank: Herd Mare Desired Rank: Unsure. Astraia is Newer to the Herd, and is Adjusting to Herd Life. Thoughts on the Broodmare Herd?: Astraia is not thrilled about the situation, but she doesn't blame the mares for it. She feels some sympathy and pity for them for being in the situation they've been put in and how they're being viewed as trophies instead of actual other equines. Appearance: [Insert Image Here - WIP] (Insert Credits Here)
Astraia is a mare of unusual, and remarkable appearance, and it's not uncommon for her coat to catch the eyes of those around her. Although, she doesn't think there's anything special about her appearance. First there is her general build, but a rather sturdy and thickly built mare. She's rather big boned, with wide hips and strong shoulders. Her stature combined with her 16hh height makes for a rather impressive sized mare, as she isn't a dainty or delicate one. She currently has a rounder and lower hanging belly do to either having recently given birth or currently still pregnant. Still, even if she weren't with foal, she would still be a rather stout mare. She's just built different.
Besides her size, Astraia's coat tends to be what garners the most attention. She's, without a doubt, a grey mare, as her once black as night coat as greyed out to appear like a dark night sky of clouds and stars. She's the canvas for a blend of shades of grey with white speckling to it, giving her the impression of a starry sky. This white speckling can be seen across her coat, even on the darker areas of her head and legs, and come in various sized spots too. Due to her greyed and speckled appearance, Raia almost looks like some sort of roan, having a darker head and legs with a lighter body coat. However, it's just the unique what the mare has greyed out, although the spots are an interesting one.
The Mare's mane and tail are of medium length, and are a soft off-white color, that darkens at the tips. Even as a dark mare with her original black coat, she seemed to carry the silver gene, as her mane and tail were always on the lighter side. On her forehead is a white star, and her eyes are a dark, midnight blue color.

Registered/Show Name: Red Velvet Barn Name:Honey, or Red. Honey was her Actual Barn Name, but several called her Red because of her Show Name. Age:Twelve Years Gender:Female/Mare Herd or Band:Broodmare Herd Rank:Lead Mare Desired Rank: Content Breed: Thoroughbred Thoughts on the Wild Horses: She isn't necessarily against them, but she does not want to be ruled by stallions who don't treat them with respect. She won't give up her position just so a Stallion can parade them around. Appearance:
The Broodmare is a rather tall horse, standing at 16.2 hh. There is something elegant and lean, almost lanky, about the mare's build. She's tall and graceful, moving around with an easy purpose, while carrying the foaling belly with pride. While she has birthed her foal, she hasn't quite lost the roundness of having done so. The mare doesn't sport a very heavy figure, not being very big boned, but she's a surefooted and steady mare. Honey isn't a mare that you can call dainty, there is a maturity to her figure that only comes with age, but even as a youth she just never quite seemed to be dainty, she never seemed breakable.
The tall mare is a rather pretty mare, but she isn't flashy or young like other mares are. She sports a rather light chestnut coat, not being overly bright or deep in coloration. Her mane and tail, which are more medium in length, are richer in color, appearing a slightly deeper red than her base coat. She isn't a mare that is going to stand out from the crowd or attract a lot of attention, and, truthfully, that has never bothered Honey. She's always gotten exactly what she needs, and she's content with that.
The mare has two white socks on her hind legs, and a blaze on her face that begins as a star on her forehead before painting down her face. Her grey muzzle as a blotch of pink where the blaze comes down, making her easy to identify because of it. Her voice is more matured than other mares, and thus appears to be a bit deeper, but there is something naturally soothing and comforting about the warm tones of her voice. As scent is something that resembles fall or autumn as well, something warm, maybe a bit of spice, like cinnamon, but not overwhelming.
Credit for all Three Images Belongs to Velvet-Stain on DA. These are Stock Images.
Personality: Calm || Motherly || Nurturing || Comforting || Quiet || Reserved || Observant || Level Headed || Collected || Patient || Wise || Advice Giver || Experienced Mother || Helpful || Kind || Soft Spoken, but Not a Push Over || Selfless || Caring || Calm Under Pressure || High Expectations of her Foals || Humble || Self Assured
Honey is a chestnut mare, who doesn't seem to match the fiery temperment most Chestnut Mare's are labeled with. In fact, Honey more so has a temperment that matches her name: she's a sweet mare. Kind and compassionate, she's got a good and level head on her shoulders and is good at putting the needs of others first. There is a very soft and motherly aspect to the female that has come from being a Broodmare for years, having raised several foals to adulthood. This experience has lead her to be a very patient and nurturing soul, one who comes with wisdom. She's someone others can look up to, and it's likely why she's become the Lead Mare of their herd, as she was some semblance of one when they lived with their owner.
The mare is someone who always appears to be calm and at ease, having a very collected mind. She's someone who is good at giving advice, will do so happily when someone comes to her. She doesn't like to give out unwanted advice, knowing it's not always wanted, but if she feels it's necessary she will. Despite that, she isn't a pushy or even a very bossy mare, instead having a more quite and reserved disposition and leading with a steady and loving way. Someone who is understanding and comforting to others. Now, just because she is soft spoken in nature, and not someone to push others around, that doesn't mean she is a push over. The female is very firm when she decides on something, and it would take a very reasonable agurement to sway her otherwise. She respects others, and when it comes to the safety of her herd, she will always try to do what is best.
She's a self-assured mare, quite confident in her abilities, but not in a loud or obnoxious mare. She isn't going to force others to see things her way, they're more than allowed to have their own opinions, but she won't risk the safety of her herd, their foals, for opinions. Honey is quite the same as a mother too, having a more gentle approad than one of harsh corrections. Does she have high expectations of her foals? Of course, but she doesn't expect them to be perfect, and to never make mistakes. She's there to teach them, afterall. It's her years as a mother that has allowed her to be an over all calm but persistent mare. She remains relatively calm while under pressure or during panic, but she isn't perfect. She still makes mistakes too. Backstory: Honey, or Red Velvet as is her Registered name, was one of their previous owner's first horses. She had been with him since she was three. Because of her calm and sweet demeanor, the owner thought she would be a perfect candidate for breeding. This started him on his Broodmare journey, something that Honey didn't mind, and actually seemed to come rather natural to her. Together, the two of them paved his pathway. Unfortunately, bills kept adding up, and the income generated from the foals and broodmares wasn't enough to keep up with the costs of everything in the man's life.
So, now that they're "free" Honey is doing her best to lead them on their path of survival. Part of her longs to go back, but she knows she wouldn't end up in the same home she once had. It's the fear of who could own her that keeps her from returning to fenced pastures. Crush:None Mate:None Foals:Open for Foal Open for Adult Offspring Kin:Wip Affiliations:Open - Wip Other: She was Primarily Bred with Quarter Horses to make American Appendix Horses, so that is likely what her offspring are. Though potentially a Thoroughbred too. Edited at September 20, 2022 06:38 AM by Imperial Sands
