° P L O T ° The kingdom of Lyderia has been ruled by the same royal family for centuries. They have never been disputed, never usurped. Why? Because they are... different. Each member of the royal family is born wielding abilities that mark them as royal blood. The purer the blood, the greater their powers. This has made it easy to root out impostors, vanquish foes, and maintain a strong grip on their kingdom. It's reliable and foolproof- Until now.
A stranger has made themselves known to the kingdom, and they bear the same great power as the ruling family themselves. By the laws, they may very well be a legitimate contender for the throne -- a throne that this family will not so easily relinquish. ° E X P O U N D E D ° The stranger did not show up at the most convenient time for the royals. It was the night of the coronation celebration for the oldest child of the king and queen, one week before they would officially be crowned a ruler. All are welcome at the celebratory ball - maids, servants, farmers, traders, foreigners, lords, ladies,... However, never has a member of the common population approached the king and queen with such purpose. Never before has one so boldly claimed their right to the throne - and actually been correct. The celebrations continue, but the coronation has been delayed until the true heir to the throne can be sorted out. The child of the king and queen is now in a precarious position. Is this their sibling? A cousin? Are they related at all? Is their crown, their throne, their country, in danger? Sides are being taken. Tensions are rising. This challenger has no intentions of leaving without the truth. ° L I N K S °

° ABOUT THE KINGDOM ° Credits to Me. Black squiggles are main roads. Lyderia's capitol is simply known as the Citadel. The Citadel sits almost squarely in the middle of the country, situated nicely between the sea and a nearly impenetrable mountain range. The Qura Sea separates them from the rest of the world to the west by two days' journey by ship. The Dagan Waste, which begins not long after the Idris Mountains, stretches for miles. Their nearest neighbor eastwards is so remote that contact with them is nonexistent.
Wylen, a more minor kingdom, lies to the north. A stretch of the Dagan Waste forms a snowy border with them. Most merchants from this neighboring kingdom prefer to sail down. Their exports are furs and exotic meats, though their are some tropical places up past the snowfields.
Lyderia is a flourishing trade center. Their main port is Port Valiant, as it is one of the few well-developed coastal cities with beaches and docks that doesn't have to worry about rough waters or jagged cliff edges. There are two other main areas that traders will sail in from: Argonlea, to the north, has a small bay area that leads into the Kurk Strip, and Cobalt Delta to the south. The Regency River is the largest in the country, both wide and deep, and it feeds into the Cobalt Delta and surrounding rivulets. Ilonwea Spring is situated in the mountains; it is the main source for the Cobalt Delta. A smaller spring further north is the mouth of the Kurk Strip. Lyderia is split into several provinces, each with its own export. Just west of the mountains is Lych, a foresty area where the main export is lumber. Erwen, marked by the wheat on the map, is mainly produce and farmland. It is a plains-y area, and fog from the ocean is constantly rolling in and out. Marked by the "$" is Capern -- trading central. Slovern is the ranching community, furthest south in Lyderia and bordering the southern Waste. Those who live in the Waste do mostly as they please. Soldiers are mainly conscripted from the Waste just north of the Kurk Strip, but those on the other side of the mountains are considered more a territory than members of the kingdom itself. +++ Traditional Feasts and Balls: Sommers Promenade -- occurs every summer solstice. Usually lasts about a week. Vinters Promenade -- occurs every winter solstice. Usually lasts about two weeks. Coronation Celebration -- occurs after the eldest heir's birthday, starting anywhere from when they turn 20 to until they turn 30. Usually lasts a month or more. This is where they are named Crown Prince or Princess; about one week into the celebrations, they are officially crowned Heir Apparent. *This celebration is a little different because the king and queen are stepping down from their ranks. Whoever is crowned this time is the new King or Queen of Lyderia.* Trade Day -- occurs in late spring as the trade ships come in. It is the busiest time in the year for those who are buying, selling, bargaining, and travelling. Open to more. +++ The Abilities Each member of the royal family has the ability to create and wield fire. However, within that are different sub-classes. None is greater than another, and kings and queens have all had a variety. By law, all those wielding a flame are considered royals and must be taken seriously as such until disproven. Non-royal flame wielders are exceptionally rare. These abilities are manifested at a very young age. Toddlers, and sometimes even infants, tend to make their flames known by lighting the palace on fire. Blue fire comes with enhanced physical abilities, making these royals great generals and warlords. Red fire allows manipulation of the weather, though only within a ten mile radius of the wielding royal. White fire grants the user with the ability to communicate with animals. This is frequently used to widen the spy network, as the royal knows what the animals know. Purple fire harnesses the abilities of flora, and the manipulation thereof. Their abilities usually head extremely prosperous trade years. Yellow fire grants a royal with power over the treasures of the earth. Gold, jewels, ore, etc. spring up at their word and can be manipulated into jewelry, armor, weapons, or whatever else the royal desires. Green fire is an interesting one in the sense that there is no outward suggestion of an ability. However, royals wielding green flames never get sick, cannot be poisoned, and have some healing abilities. Edited at September 3, 2022 09:10 PM by Mother

° R A N K S ° King: His job is to rule the country. He manages politics, heads wars, declares laws, etc. The current king is King Valdir Anoran Winston Cahill IX. Queen: She also rules the country. There may be a queen without a king, and both rule equally, but a king is almost always chosen. When a queen marries into the family, her job becomes more elusive. She heads the spy network, pulls political strings from the background, and manages assassins. The current queen married into the royal family and is Queen Guinnivere Palora Imogen Cahill. Heir Apparent: This is the oldest son or daughter of King Valdir and Queen Guinnivere. They were officially crowned Heir Apparent already, however, they will not be crowned King or Queen until this debacle is sorted out. Prince: Any son of the royal couple. Princess: Any daughter of the royal couple. Lord: The male head of a province. They are members of the royal council as well. Those who are relatives of the royal family may have a flame, though it will probably be less potent. Lady: The female head of a province. They are members of the royal council and court, and are often close companions to the royal women. Those who are relatives of the royal family may have a flame, though it will probably be less potent. Nobility: Dukes, duchesses, and lesser nobility that may be of distant royal relation from any country. They hold sway mainly over their own towns and cities and are below Lords and Ladies. Foreign nobility are often guests at the palace. Commoner: Anyone not royal or nobility. Thieves, merchants, travelers, farmers,... You name it. Servant: They may have different duties around the kingdom based on their locations, but those in the palace are often maids and manservants to the royal family. Guard: They protect the Citadel, the towns, provinces, and the royal family. Some may be part of secret elite groups. Almost every assassin and spy has been a guard. Challenger: This is the stranger that showed up bearing the royal family's same magic. It is unknown if they are related to the royals, but by law they have a chance at the throne. ° R U L E S ° Follow all WP rules. There are a ton of ranks, so I'll allow two "high" ranks per person, for now. Just complete one high ranking form before starting on a second one. This is a semi lit to literate RP. As such, BOTH appearance and personality are expected to have at least 150 words each in your forms, and RP responses must be at least 200 words per character. For appearance, pictures are allowed, but THEY MUST FOLLOW THE RULES. Uncredited images, real life images, and AI generated images will not be accepted. Artwork is fine when free to use and properly credited. Reservations last 48 hours. Please be active in the discussion and the RP. Contribute to the plot and let everyone know if you will be on hiatus; life happens, but disappearing off the face of the earth for a month should be prefaced with a quick heads up when possible. No perfect characters. They must have strengths and weaknesses, physical or otherwise. While animals are not necessarily playable characters, pets are allowed. Images, if they are chosen, must be free to use and properly credited. NO HOTLINKING. I will allow ONE person besides the Challenger to be a commoner / non-royal that can also wield flame, but note that their abilities will not be quite as strong as a pure-blood royal's. This person has been claimed. Have fun and PM me with any questions :D Edited at September 3, 2022 10:07 PM by Mother

Gaia Eosín Altolos Credits to me. Age: 19 Gender: Female Flame: White Rank: Princess Desired Rank: Content Thoughts on the Situation She doesn't like it one bit. She believes her older sibling is the true ruler, and she is quite upset that their destiny is being bombarded by anyone, let alone a frontiersman from the Waste. Appearance Gaia is a beautiful specimen, both alluring and dangerous. She has a feminine form that, while sporting very few curves and minimal protrusions, still has the lithe grace and build of a woman. She stands at nearly six feet tall and weighs around 145 pounds. Her frame is on the slim side, yet it still hosts toned, wiry muscle that promises a painful punch. She is quite in shape and has the athletic physique to prove it; her pretty being is good for much more than simply being looked at. Her skin is naturally a golden tan shade, not dark but not pale, and she obviously gets some sun. Her shoulders, torso, and upper legs are several shades lighter than the rest of her, which has a bronzer look. Gaia's face is a diamond shape and hosts refined features. A long, straight nose sits above slightly pouty lips; dark, semi-arched eyebrows stand over large, round, stormy gray eyes framed by thick eyelashes. Her resting expression is rather daunting -- cool and collected, no matter the situation, and neither kind nor cruel. She is hard to read based solely on that. Her hair is quite interesting, especially considering the coloration of her eyelashes and brows. Rather than a matching deep brown, the hair on her head is platinum blond -- almost silver. In fact, the darker shadows in her hair do take on a more grayed appearance, though the highlights are more yellow. When let down, her hair comes to the middle of her back and has a very faint wave to it. However, her hair is usually pulled back in some braid, ponytail, or other updo. Gaia's voice is a high alto, not quite a soprano. It has an authoritative, thoughtful tone, as though she is constantly debating over something. She rarely raises her voice, although she is not soft-spoken in the first place. Her gaits are fluid and graceful, her strides are long, and she carries herself with the elegance and poise befitting one of her station. Personality firm - aloof - calculating - sober - mature - intelligent - feisty - stubborn - can be hard/callous - quiet - authoritative - can be flirty - easily exasperated - mostly patient - good with words Backstory She has lived in Lyderia her whole life, bred and reared to be a princess. She has had extensive schooling in a variety of subjects dealing with politics, sciences, histories, maths, literature, and, of course, the more physical aspects of leadership: combat, hunting, how to walk like a lady. Strengths + Her skills with horses are incredible. She was firing arrows accurately from the back of a galloping horse by age ten, and much of her free time is spent either riding or training with the animals. + She is physically strong and in shape. While she does not have the fastest get up and go or sprinting speed, her endurance is excellent and she has no troubles keeping a pace. + Weaknesses - She gets bored quite easily. Long meetings are the bane of her existence, and it takes all her mental fortitude to stay awake and pay attention. Oftentimes, she will zone out, only to miss some important issue a noble has brought up. Likewise, assignments to read boring books result in her skimming -- or skipping to the end. - She is not great with swords or hand to hand combat. Street smarts are one thing. - Affiliations Open Crush: Potentially. TBD Significant Other: Open? None Children: None Other WIP Edited at September 18, 2022 04:22 PM by Mother

Name: I'lenna Age: 12 Rank: princess Flame: white Rank: content appearance i'lenna has sunstreaked dirty blond hair that's always pulled back in a long braid. She is medium height with large almond shaped blue eyes. personality I'lenna would rather be out in the forest then in those "fancy" lessons. She is slightly rebellious but no two much . She is always curious about the world around her and is clever and smart. She can be rather festy and as a sly manner much like the foxes even with all this she is loyal and has more then enough courage for everyone. Though has the tendency of rushing in head on every once in a while she will stop and think about it especially if there's lots of spiders webs andor bones.... Personality she thinks she wouldn't make a good queen because of her wildness and she tends to learn more about things that interest her like aminals, plants, and some history, never really understood the concept of math and science though. I'lenna is hard to get to know how ever friendly she seems to be. If you ever even try to make fun of her you will find that it will backfire quickly and harsher then yours was. Sometimes she is as unpredictable as the weather other times is neutral and doent seem like much just other person... She could very well surprise you though the way she seems to know every thing she would rather be with the animals out in the forest then with human interaction. Most of the birds are annoying to her with their tendency to mock you well her cat is a good enough hunter to keep them from getting to cocky. I'lenna likes the other forest animals and can often be found in the forest with them. She tends to see more in life then the average individual, she is nearly always optimistic. I'lenna is quite good at drawing but not the greatest in the kingdom. thoughts on the situation personality I'lenna would happily like throw him back were he came from. Likes: animals, plants, sunny days, rainbows, cheese, cat s Dislikes: spiders, spider webs, pitch black rooms, cobwebs Strengths: she prefers her knife but is decent with the bow, steath, intelligence, wit Weaknesses: if she sees something new and exciting most lickly she will barge in without a second thought, allergic to carrots Backstory: I'lenna has lived in the castle all her life she has had a more adventurous life then most royal while exploring the woods and meeting the animals. She is glad that her flame allows her to speek with them the birds are always amazingly annoying though. Relationships: royal family, open Other: I'lenna has a pet calico Main Coon that is very sly and playful Edited at September 7, 2022 08:26 PM by Dawnforest
