About the Academy
The Academy was found by some of the first generations of riders, wanting a streamlined way for new riders to learn and grow safely. It features basic education as well as everything revolving around dragons from care to flight to sparring, and everything in between and beyond.
The Academy is much like modern day college, in the fact that the chosen riders leave home to live on the grounds. Their dragons also live on the grounds in the rookery, though are typically much less happy about it than the humans. The humans are split into two dorms, one for boys and one for boys, and are assigned rooms that they share with two people in each room. Each of the dorms have common rooms where the students can relax on down time, and a dining hall for meals, though they aren't always required to eat there.
The Dragon counterparts stay in one of the two rookeries. The first is the top level of the school, carved out and fitted so that each dragon has a little outcropping of space for its nest. It's a very large and open room, and spans much of the building. It has openings on either broadside that the dragons can enter through by flight or glide. There is also a human door that allows the students access as well.
The second rookery is underground, a expanse of cave systems that gives each dragon a bit more privacy than in the first rookery. Each dragon has its own cave, and the nests are all connect by a system of tunnels which then connect to the large main tunnel, which can easily fit multiple dragons in it at once, that leads to the entrance. Ironically, the tunnel entrance itself looks like a cave mouth until one were to venture within it further.
About the Dragons
There are a variety of dragons in the world, though everyone single one of them fall into one of the classes listed below. Each Class has been determined based off its characteristics and its singular special ability. While each dragon within a single class will vary considerably, they all have similar traits that they carry and specifications they fall into.
All the dragons in the Rp are the same age group of young adult, which is the stage where they are 50 years old or above, becoming full adults at about 250 years. The older a dragon gets the longer the aging stage lasts, ergo ancient is longer than adult, which is longer than young adult, which is longer than their adolescent stage, and so on and so forth. Dragons are considered semi-immortal but it has never been proven what age they die naturally at.
Below each Class of dragon will have a basic description that each dragon has in its foundation. It will include things like height, traits, etc that you will need to include.
Classes
Each Class of Dragon has color variations within it, all dragons within that Class share a special power that the other classes do not have.
Fire Class
Common
Special Ability: Extremely Hot Fire Breath
The Ability is to breath hot fire, varying in degrees through their control. It isn't enough to melt Dragon Scales, however, it can melt metal, stone, wood, etc. Relies upon the dragon being well fed to sustain the flame. Lack of food = lack of flame. Use does burn energy. Their fire can also be different forms, from flame to magma, so more fire like or more liquid like, etc.
Color Variarions: Reds, Yellows & Oranges; other Colors are only Mild Markings
Size: 8ft - 17ft at the Shoulder
Traits: Hot-tempered, Aggressive, Stubborn, Territorial, Confident
Build: Large and Muscular, but with more Athletic Build. Leaner than Earth Dragons, Thicker than Light Dragons.
Habitat: Deserts or Volcanos
Strengths/Weaknesses: Impervious to Heat and Fire, Can't breathe fire in cold climate, Must be well fed to maintain fire, Loses Energy through use of fire breath

Water Class
Common
Special Ability: Water Blasts
Rather than breathing fire, these dragons are able to "breathe" streams of water of any temperature at others. They, like fire dragons, can adjust the temperature of the water from ice old to boiling hot. They must be hydrated to use this ability, and while they also pull from their own moisture, they have resevoirs of water in their body they use first. Once their Resevoirs are Empty, they have about 1 to 2 usages before they're completely dehyrdrated and unable to do anymore. At this point it's important that they get access to water asap.
Color Variations: Blues & Purples, Grey & White is Possibly, but Rarer
Size: 7ft to 15 ft at the Shoulder
Traits: Calm, Disdainful at Times, Intelligent, Resourceful, Territorial
Build: Lean and Muscular, almost Lanky. Built for endurance and stamina. Webbed feet build for swimming. Small wings designed for aiding in swim and gliding, not able to use them for true flight. Not scaled, instead thick, leather like skin.
Habitat: Beaches or Aquatic
Strenths/Weaknesses: Get dehydrated faster, skin is sensitive to fire and heat, efficient swimmers and can hold breath for long periods of time, unable to fly but can glide, must be hydrate to use water blast, using ability dehydrates them

Ice Class Common
Special Ability: Ice Breath
Ice Dragon's ability is simply called "Ice Breath" by most but that doesn't quite cover it. They can breathe ice, they cannot turn things to ice but they can cover them with it. This ability can be use offensively as such, or, more often, Ice dragons have learn to "breathe" the ice onto themselves, coating themselves in an armor of ice that can be regenerated when broken. They can regnerate the amor once fully, or broken spots two to three times depending on the size of the spot needing to be recovered. Once they do that, though, they're fully drained. The Armor only takes the shape of their natural scales, spikes, and horns.
Color Variations: Light Cool Colors, White, and Light Grey. They don't come in Bright Colors.
Size: 7ft to 15ft at the Shoulder
Traits: Stoic, Cold, Distant, Independent, Intuitive
Build: Slightly Leaner in Frame, but Bulkier than Water Dragons, Thick Hide and Scales to Keep them Insulated, Can be Furred. Built for Stamina and Strength, but not as much for Speed. Average sized Wings, Average speed when Flying. In general, more Average in General in terms of Size and Build.
Habitat: Snowy Terrains
Strenths/Weaknesses: Impervious to the Cold, but Cannot Generate Ice in Hot Environments. Fire Attacks do Greater Damage against them. Have natural Camoflauge in the Snow Terrains. They often Hibernate when Drained, or when it gets too Hot [degrees of 100 F and above]. They cannot fly when covered in Ice. Cannot freeze to Death.

Earth Class
Common
Special Ability: Acid Spit
This is an ability that's primary function is to air in burrowing. The spit has a mild decaying aspect, and soften hardened ground to make digging easier. It's relatively harmless to dragons, though irritating to them and more so humans, however, it's entirely painful and can cause terrible damage if taken to the eyes. They have acid glands, which have a limited quantity that replenish over time (talking hours).
Color Variations: Greens & Browns, More Metallic Colors are Rarer
Size: 11ft to 19ft at the Shoulders; They can be Shorter Depending on Build
Traits: Calm, Serious, Determined, Hard Working
Build: Earth Dragons are one of the largest classes, and are the bulkiest. Heavily muscled, the carry around a heavy assortment of scales. They can be built like battening rams which can make them slow. They cannot fly, but can have small wings or frills on the legs and sides that allow them to glide.
Habitat: Forests
Strengths/Weaknesses: Large and Powerful, Cannot Truly Fly, But they Can Glide if they have a Form of Wing, Climb and Burrow is possible too, Tend to be Slower Moving, Need lots of Rest, Acid Breath is Mild and is only a mild irritant to others unless it gets in the eyes, Naturally more Armored, Sensitive to Cold

Uncommon
Special Ability: Wind Tunnel
The Air Class ability is pretty much exactly as it sounds, their jaws produce a wind tunnel that can either create a tunnel of wind of varying speed and velocity. The wind itself cannot cause harm, but strong winds can throw things, including beings light enough to be lifted, which can end up damaging anyone caught within it's range. Those outside of it's line of fire [about maximum 20 feet in a conical shape] will feel the wind, but are out of harms way. Air dragons can choose the direction the wind blow too, so they can push or pull things, though it is only either away from them or towards them, they cannot actually throw a specific target in a specific direction.
Color Variations: Pale Colors, Including White or Pastels
Size: 6ft - 12ft at the Shoulders
Traits: Peaceful, Passive, Compassionate, Light Hearted, Easy Going
Build: Slim, petite dragons with large wings for their bodies. Fastest of the dragons when flying. Not very hardy in comparison to others, slim figure built for speed and agility. Smallest of all the dragons. They often have talons on their wings to use to anchor them when using their ability as the force of it can push them backwards.
Habitat: Mountain Tops
Strengths/Weaknesses: Lungs are better able to filter oxygen, can fly higher for longer, more resistant to temperature changes, fast flyers and few larger dragons can keep up. Pretty stealthy since they're smaller and faster.

Venom Class Uncommon
Special Ability: Invenomation
The Venom Class is pretty self explanatory to a degree, they're dragons who have Venom and are able to Invenomate others. Each Dragons' Venom is different in terms of Potency, but all of them are curable with the right treatment, basically a Natural Anti-Venom. Most Dragon Venom is Nonlethal, it's merely used as a way to weaken a Dragon's target, whether it be for hunting or for fighting. It might still be excruciatingly Painful to get through, but for the most part the Venom itself is unlikely to kill, there are exceptions though [like if the dragon bites multiple times and ends up unloading it's entire venom amount]. Venom Dragons have about three to four good and strong Invenomating Bites in them [or whatever way they inflict their venom]. Once they're drained, they'll recover their venom from eating and time, their body naturally generating the venom itself, but it's a process and it takes time and requires nutrition. Each Dragon's Venom has a different effect, but it all works towards the same goal: weaken the target so it can be killed or escaped easier.Venom has only physical affects, it cannot cause halluncinations, etc. Typically most of them simply cause pain, but the way the pain feels can vary per dragon.
Color Variations: More Earthy, Natural Tones. Naturally Patterened for Camoflauge.
Size: 6ft - 14ft at the Shoulders
Traits: Territorial, More Reclusive/Solitary, Verbally Bold, A Bit Aggressive
Build: Average to Smaller Sized Dragons, Designed to be Quick and Agile they do not have the Bulk or Physical Strength of Larger Dragons. They tend to have a Very Streamlined build, and are definitely More Snake-Like or Lizard Like than Other Dragons.
Habitat: Variable, but Deserts are Most Common
Strengths/Weaknesses: Once they're out of Venom it Takes about 24 Hours for their Glands to be Full Again if they Eat. They Can only Invenomate Through One Process [Teeth, Fangs, Spitting, Spikes, etc.]. They can Choose How Much Venom to Use at a Time, using Lower Dosages means their Venom Lasts Longer but the Effects of it are Weaker. Each Venom has it's own Natural Cure, plus Invenomation can be Cured by a Lunar Dragon's Healing Aura.

Storm Class Uncommon
Special Ability: Lightning Breath
The Storm Class of Dragon is feared for it's lightning breath, though it isn't as dangerous as it appears. They have the ability to charge and then unleash blasts, or bolts, of lightning from their jaws at their targets of varying degrees. The strength of the attack can be from anything of a little static shock like thing where it's a bit of a discomfort, but harmless, to the same strength of lightning from a storm. It's hurt, fry things that are too small, and can be fatal if the targets heart cannot handle the attack. It also will have a momentarily stunning affect when strong enough, but it only lasts about 10-15 seconds at maximum effect on average to smaller sized targets, larger targets only about 5-10 seconds. Some dragons don't use their jaws, but instead use their horns to conduct their attacks.
Storm Dragons can only produce about 3 to 4 fully charged attacks before being depleted of strength. Can they be devastating, but once they're out, they're out. They charge through the energy storms create, and quicker if struck by lightning [they're a natural magnet to it].
Color Variations: Dark Colors. Usually Two Toned.
Size: 9ft - 18ft at the Shoulders
Traits: Confident, More Solitary, Can be Loud, Aggressive, Serious
Build: Tall and Well Muscled, Large or Big but not in a Stocky or Thiccc way. Their Large Builds are Accompanied by Large Wings, some of the Largest for the Dragon Classes.
Habitat: Mountains, or Humid/Rainy Areas
Strengths/Weaknesses: Immune to Storms or Lightning, and Resistant to Water and Fire Attacks, but not Immune. Can create a Booming [harmless] Sound from Flapping their Wings Hard a Specific Way. The Lightning Attacks have a Charge up Time, the Stronger Attack the Longer the Time [10 Seconds for the Strongest Attacks]. Their Attacks are Difficult to Control and Aim. The Lightning can start Fire if it strikes dry foilage. They don't handle extreme temperature well, and don't do well in super dry climate.

Lunar Class Uncommon
Special Ability: Lunar Aura
The Lunar Dragon has a very Unique ability unlike any other dragon, one that isn't supposed to be offensive or even defensive. Instead, their's is more Supportive. A Lunar Class dragon's ability is to create an aura around themselves that will heal themselves and anyone within range until the Lunar Class is drained, or everyone is healed. This can be directly focused into someone, but it requires all of the Lunar Dragon's concentration, otherwise it will not work. There isn't anything truly offensive about this aura, at most it might be a bit uncomfortable for others as it can be a bit cold and sometimes a bit thick or slimey since it's pure energy that is radiating around the dragon, but it doesn't do any harm. It's important to note that the Healing Aura can not bring anyone back from the death, or prevent it from happening. If something is dying, the Aura will simply make them more comfortable so, perhaps, they don't die in pain.
Color Variations: Often 1 Base Color. Shades of Grey, Blue, and Purple, and White. Black Markings Common.
Size: 8ft - 16ft at the Shoulders
Traits: Elusive, Observant, Empathetic, Quiet, Light Hearted
Build: More Average Size to Tall in Height with a Lean Build, Often Long Wings. They are more similar in size to Ice Dragons, but with Leaner, Thinner Build. Almost like a Cross between Air and Ice Dragons.
Habitat: Slightly Cooler Regions
Strengths/Weaknesses: They cannot Recharge during the Day, New Moon, or Lunar Eclipse. They Don't do well with Heat or Fire Attacks. Mildly Resistant to the Cold. They Cannot Heal Mortal Wounds. If they deplete themelves, and then are Wounded, they cannot heal themselves until they're in Moonlight. They are Strongest at Night, as they Recharge as long as theyre in Moonlight.

Dream Class Rare
Special Ability: Dream Manipulation [Including Daydreams & Nightmares]
The Manipulation of Dreams, whether they be during the day or night, a short nap or a long slumber, is the primary basis of a Dream Class Dragon's powers. They have the ability to control the dreams of whomever they desire. They aren't omniscient, so they don't know their worst fears or nightmares, but they can basically make them dream whatever they desire [within reason]. This does mean they can give you the worst Nightmare they can think of, or the sweetest purest dreams. It also means they can take them too. Dream dragons cannot physically hurt others with their Dreams, but they can make them so vivid it causes them to lash out in reality, inadvertently hurting themselves. If they push hard enough, they can get people to act out in their sleep or sleep walk, which, if they're having nightmares, might cause them to attack others.
Most Dream Dragons who are Old Enough to Learn How can also Project Themselves into the Dreams of other, controlled by her or not. They cannot cause harm to anyone while inside another's dream, more so they're just there to spend time or comminucate with you for some reason. Typically Dream Dragons have to be within the vacinity of whoever's dream they're jumping into.
Dream Dragons Must sleep in order to recharge after using their abilities, until they've slept enough to recharge, they are dreamless.
Color Variations: Vivid Colors, White, Typically Multi-Colored
Size: 6ft - 13ft at the Shoulders
Traits: Whimsical, Empathetic, Intelligent, More Free Spirited, Imaginative
Build: Dream Dragons tend to be Smaller, more Lithe Dragons with a Lean Builds. They aren't bulky or overtly muscular. They're more so built for Speed, Agility, and, Unsurprisingly, Stealth. Their Wings are Well Proportioned to their Bodies, and they're one of the Few Dragons who can Fly Completely Silent at Times.
Habitat: Forests, Flower Fields, Mossy Caves ⇒ They Aren't Picky, Just Needs to be Peaceful
Strengths/Weaknesses: Despite their Bright Appearances, They're Difficult to Follow when they Get Moving, Dream Dragons themselves have Natural Mental Fortitude that Makes them Impervious to any form of Mental Attack, They can only Use their Ability on Someone they can See and they Cannot Prevent them from Waking up, Dream Walking does leave Dream Dragons vulnerable as their sense are dulled incredibly when in another's dream.

Light Class
Rare
Special Ability: Blinding Light
Light Dragons can emit a flash of blinding light, think flash bang without the bang, which can temporarily blind and/or stun opponents. They have one good charge in them before they need to rest for an average of 3 hours to even get enough for anything useful. They can all use it in a more mild manor where they illuminate their body, something that doesn't require much energy, and might even be more natural. This is controlled though, and can be turned off. This is recharged through the sun. They can also direct this as a beam of light through this jaws, which has the same affect.
Color Variations: Gold, White, Silver, & Opalescent/Pearlescent
Size: 8ft - 17ft at the Shoulder; Their Wings Make Then Look Taller
Traits: Good, Calm, Kind, Open, Intelligent & Wise
Build: Light Dragons, like Dark Dragons, Vary Considerably in Size. They can either be smaller to large, with wings that are commonly on the larger side. They tend to have leaner, but powerful builds without being overtly bulky. Because they're rare, there is less known about them.
Habitat: Anywhere, Like to Live Among Other Dragons (Espeically Air Dragons)
Strengths/Weaknesses: More Fragile Wings (Due to Size), Can Radiate Light When Needed And Can use it as a Flash of Blinding Light, Highly Intelligent, Absorb Energy from the Sun which Powers their Ability, High Fortitude

Dark Class
Rare
Special Ability: Smog Breath
Able to emit noxious gas that is dark in color, Dark Dragons primarily use their ability for defense. It provides cover, the dark plume both physically hiding them as well as causing confusion within anyone trapped within the fog or inhales it too much (3+ breaths). If too much of the gas is inhaled, it can cause hallucinations, and eventual unconsciousness. The gas is fueled by a chemical reaction caused from stored minerals gain from mushrooms. When those stores are empty, they can't create it. The smog can also emit from glands beneath the wings and at the tip of the tail.
Color Variations: Black, Near Black Colors, Iridescent
Size: 9ft - 16ft at the Shoulder
Traits: Elusive, Solitary, Highly Intelligent, Wary
Build: Lean and Muscular, but with more Variation than some of the Other Species. Almost Cat Like in Movement, Very Graceful. Well Balanced Proportions for Speed, Grace, and Strength. Because they're rare, there is less known about them.
Habitat: Any place that isn't easily accessible or darkest
Strengths/Weaknesses: Immune to Most Toxins, Stealthy, Silent When Flying, Can use Smog Breath to Create Cover, Breath is Highly Flammable, Sensitive to Light and Fire, Camoflauges Well, Sensitive Sound and Scents

Seer Class
Rare
Special Ability: The Sight
The Seer Class of Dragon have a Unique Ability, like several other dragons do, that is not seen in any other type. Rather than having an offensive or defensive ability, Seer dragon's have a more intel based ability. They are able to use one or both of their eyes to see through the eyes of others animals. They do not control this animal, though they can communicate with it telepathically to look in a certain direction when they are inside their mind. Seer Class dragons cannot cause any harm when in the minds of an animal, they cannot read any thoughts unless they are directed at them specifically, and they cannot force them to do anything. They are, basically, just there for the ride to see what the animal sees. While they are there, the animal can still see just fine, but they are aware of the extra presence within their head.
With Dragons, the Seer Class must gain permission to see through their eyes, but they can be difficult to shut out once permission is granted. If a dragon wishes to grant them long term access, the two must touch their foreheads together and verbally speak permission and acceptance.
While looking through the eyes of another animal, dragon or other, the Seer Class is vulnerable, as their senses are decreased, as their mind is focused through the eyes of another. This means they don't always have the reflexes or time to respond to an attack if they are found Seering. It takes them about 5 to 10 Seconds to completely reorientate into their own body basically.
Color Variations: Varying Shades of Whites, Brown, Greys, and Greens.
Size: 10ft - 18ft at the Shoulder
Traits: Solitary, Stoic, Quiet, Observant, Calm
Build: Tall Dragons with a Large, but Lean Build. They aren't Super Bulky, but their Height can make them Appear So. They often have Unique Appearances to help Camofluage them. Typically Always Scaled for Better Protection. Not Very Fast.
Habitat: Forests or Cliffs
Strengths/Weaknesses: They cannot Move when Seering, they can be present enough to Speak when they are to whoever is around them, but they cannot fight, move, etc. They can quickly switch from target to target. They can see anything that they eyes they're looking through see. They must rest after projecting, if they don't they can die from over exerting themselves. They can Seer for about 20 Minutes before being Completely Exhausted.
