`The world isn't as black and white as you seem to believe, the victors weaved the story, but the depths tell another.`

The land of the Northen Ridge has been the home of the three Northern cat colonies for seasons. The Hailfall Colony to the far north have ruled these lands with iron claws for generations, placing themselves as the heros of the land while deeming those far below the enemy of hard fought peace. The Chillingsun Colony to the far south struggle in an environment too hostile for survival, but they have nowhere else to go, held to their place in the coldest desert, "The Depths", as a punishment for a long forgotten crime, a crime many believe was never commited. At the very heart of the land, nestled in the marshes between the two realms, a new colony has formed, settled upon these lands for barely eight seasons. The Dragonfly Colony bring about change in the land of the Northern Ridge, showing no respect for the Hailfall Colony and no detest for the Chillingsun Colony. With this new colony formed on the lands of the two, will old grudges fade and new alliances be founded or will the war begin once more for the Hailfall Colony's rights to the entire Northen Ridge? That's up to you to decide.

Roleplay Rules
[ 1 ] All WolfPlay Rules Apply!
[ 2 ] Please try to keep everything to the right thread.
[ 3 ] Five characters max per person, all character must be used once weekly. More characters may be allowed in the future.
[ 4 ] No "perfect" charaters.
[ 5 ] All roleplay responses require a header to avoid confusion! Include your character's name, pronouns, colony and mention who they're interacting with!
[ 6 ] Message the password to me! If your user starts with any letter from A to M the password is "Heights" while if your user starts with a letter from N to Z the password is "Depths".
[ 7 ] Activity is important, any more than three days without roleplay participation will get you a strike.
[ 8 ] This roleplay is Semi-Literate to Literate, a minimum of 150 words per roleplay message. It is okay to fall slightly below this now and again!
[ 9 ] Keep characters realistic and follow colony standards! These standards are put in place to make sure your character could realistically survive in their environment.

The Hailfall Colony

`The Heights`

The Hailfall Colony are known for heroism, loyality and justice with a set of strict rules. They always believe they are right and anyone who stands against them is an enemy to peace. They consider themselves rulers of the whole Northern Ridge, allowing other colonies on their land under their rule. This colony live high up in the snowy mountains, their camp deep in the mountain's caves. The most common prey they hunt are deer which the colony eat together in rank order. This colony are the only ones with access to the ridge itself, the place said to connect the Spirits of Aurora with the living, though only the Spirit Speakers themselves know the truth, the spirits have never once spoken.

Colony Standards

Cats of this colony are usually larger breeds, allowing them to hunt prey much larger than them. They have long, dense fur made to keep them warm and the snow out. They are heavy with large paws made to sink into snow from which they stalk their prey. Most pelts are greys or white with blue, silver or green eyes.

Naming System

.
All Kitten are given a number which they'll be called by until they become Trainees. When they become Trainees the King/Queen names them, these names are usually adjectives referring to personality.

The Rules of Hailfall

.
1) The King/Queen makes all decisions and their word is final.
2) The King/Queen must listen to the Spirit Speaker as their job is to bring messages from the Spirits of Aurora.
3) Going against the King/Queen, whether it be by openingly disagreeing with their decisions, plotting against them, attempted assassination, speaking badly of them or anything remotely simular, is a crime to be punished as the King/Queen sees fit.
4) The colony will eat in a certain order. This order is King/Queen, Heir, Spirit Speaker, The Council, Healers, Commanders, Kittens, Warriors, Mentors, Trainees, Hunters, Gaurds, Scouts, Messengers.
5) All Overseers must have two Commanders. In the case of an Overseers death, the King/Queen will pick one of the Commanders to take the Overseers place.
6) The colony is more important than family or friendships. You must always prioritise the needs of the colony.
7) Violence against other colony members of your rank or higher is strictly forbidden.
8) Only the Spirit Speaker may stand upon the ridge.
9) Talking with outsiders is looked down on, relationships with outsiders are forbidden.

Ranks

King/Queen
A singular ruler of the kingdom that is the Hailfall Colony. They are the eldest child of their generation from a long bloodline of leaders. The King or Queen makes all the decisions and going against them would be breaking the rules of their colony.

The next in line for the throne and the eldest child of the current King/Queen. They are trained by the council.

Spirit Speaker
A cat who speaks with the spirits and is the only one allowed to stand upon the ridge. They are the only cat the King/Queen have to listen to. On rare occasion they may take a Trainee.

The Council (Overseers)
Collectively referred to as the Council while members are referred to as Overseers in reference to their duty, each one watches over a rank of the colony. They are allowed to give the King/Queen their suggestions and advice, but the King/Queen does not have to listen to them. (The list below shows where each Overseer ranks, the higher they are on the list, the higher rank they are.)

The Dragonfly Colony

`The Plains`

The Dragonfly Colony are the newest colony of the Northern Ridge. They're an odd bunch of cats who are considered quite disorganised, but are more focused on living their lives as they wish than forming any complicated ranking system or rules. They live in the swamps on the hillside between the two other colonies, there's always a chill in the air and deep, soaked mud underfoot. This colony has a fairly open camp on a large, dry, rocky outcrop where they weave their own dens out of brambles, bracken and gorse. The Dragonfly Colony also use flower language as part of their daily lives, wearing flowers, weaving them into their dens and giving them to others. (Please do some research into flower language if you want to roleplay this aspect!)

Colony Standards

The Dragonfly Colony have the most varied appearances, though most commonly have medium-sized builds and long legs with short, thick fur in most places to avoid mud getting clogged in it, though its not uncommon for their backs to be fluffy in a way similar to cheetah cubs. Their colors are mostly made up of blacks and browns with the occassional ginger or calicos. When it comes to markings they are frequently mackrel or classic tabbies and their eyes are most commonly greens and yellows.

Naming System

This colony do not have a set naming system, their mothers name them however they'd like.

Ranks

The only named rank in the colony is the Colony Head, but their is still a hierarchy that only effects social situations with those of closer rank getting along best while higher ranks may ignore lower ranks entirely. These ranks may change based on friendships, participation in colony buisness and accomplishments. (When filling in the rank section, pick a number from the list that is open, thats where your character will rank.)

The Chillingsun Colony

`The Depths`

The Chillingsun Colony are outwardly skittish and catious, but determined. Though within the colony they're very tight-knit and care deeply for one another. Despite their history, their accepting of outsiders and always help anyone in need. This colony live in cold desert with little rainfall, their only source of water being a single river that runs out of the marshland and through their territory. They do not have a camp due to sandstorms that, more often than not, turn camps back to desert. Instead, they move around their territory and sleep within the sand with their heads left out, sleeping close to their unit for safety, though its not uncommon to get a cold nose.

Colony Standards

The cats of this colony are typically smaller in size with small paws than allow them to move across the sand without sinking into it. While their fur is mostly medium lenght, they often have long manes of fur around their heads and fluffy tails, this fur is not very dense, unlike most colonies, allowing sand to fall out if it was to get stuck. When it comes to pelt colors they are commonly cream or ginger with spotted tabby markings or sometimes even point markings. Their eyes are often yellow or amber.

Naming System

Cats of this colony are typically named for their appearance by their mothers. Though they recieve a second part of their name from the Leading Pair when they accomplish something, this part of their name refers to personality and/or skills. They must recieve their full name before offically joining a Unit. An example of their names would be Willow Song. (Hopefully this isn't too much like Warrior Cats. If it is and a mod is reading this, message me to let me know and I'll change a few things.)

Ranks

Leading Pair
The Leading Pair are the decision makers of the colony, though they usual listen to the opinions of everyone in the colony. They are a partnered pair and are almost like the parental figures for the whole colony. These pairs can be pairs of any gender. A new Leading Pair are picked when one or both die, the new pair will be picked from all partnered pairs in the colony through vote. When reffering to only one of the pair they are only called by name. (If one slot is already full please ask the roleplayer for permission to take the second!)

Units
The entire colony is split up into Units of about six plus any kittens of members of the Unit. These Unit members usual have their own role in the Unit, but it differs between Units. If a member of the Unit dies, a newly named cat will take their place. When there's no space in already existing Units, a new Unit will be formed. (When filling out the rank part of the form, just write which unit you'd like. Kittens in this colony can only be added with at least one parent!)
