Winters for the Sinum herd had never been too difficult until now. Before, they always had an experienced lead horse to guide them through the harsh times. Through starvation, thirst, predator attacks, even the nastiest blizzards when the vision was near limited to inches in front of you. They had always made it until summer was able to hit, until grass started poking from the ground once more and birds flew over their heads. They mourned their casualties during that season sure, as the cold got to the old and sickly and horses were picked off by predators, but they never were as bad as they could have gotten and fared better than the smaller bachelor or mare groups wandering the plains and forests that made their home. Times change however, and their luck has never been so bad.

Their lead stallion, however wise he had been, had finally succumbed to the cold on his seventh winter leading the herd. It had only been the first week of frigid snow. Their deputy fell sick and met the lady known as death. Their lieutenant went missing during a predator attack and hasn't returned to them since, so he's assumed dead. The Sinum herd has nobody to lead them. Their lead stallion never appointed a lead mare, as he hadn't found the heart to accept someone after the old lead mare died giving birth two years ago, the foal not making it either. Seeing the herd desperate and some already accepting that this winter they will all succumb to the elements one way or another, a lone mare appears from the blizzards to offer the Sinum herd her help.

This lone mare claims she can help them survive and knows tactics that can save this herd until the first sign of grass and birds begin to show once more. That she can help them live to see another day until the sun is bright against their backs again. The catch is that they must accept her and her two friends into the herd. Their lead stallion always had a key rule in place that was always absolute and kept them safe, to never let a loner close, mare or stallion, but with the worst of the cold quickly coming to claim their lands and with no high ranked horse to lead them, will the herd turn the complete stranger away or cast aside their deceased lead stallions keystone rule and take her as their temporary lead until the grass is green again?

ROLEPLAY RULES

1) Limiting the amount of characters you can play to 3 and the amount of high positions you can claim to 1, if you want to remove any character you play at any time then PM me. The limit is so everyone has a chance to take a role
-+★+-
2) Be able to write 300+ words with decent grammar, punctuation, etc. This will be a Semi-Lit RP but writers block will grant exceptions. That said, sentences should also be somewhat detailed
-+★+-
3) Hate the character, not the player, bullies aren't
allowed and I'll give a warning to anyone who violates this rule before kicking them the next time they break it
-+★+-
4) Drama and Romance is allowed, encouraged even, but no romance between 2 of your own characters. Additionally, be able to keep it PG-13! Your characters being related I will allow.
-+★+-
5) Wolfplay Rules apply here, in the discussion and in the Roleplay thread! Be able to follow them. They're here for a reason
-+★+-
6) Be inclusive to everyone within the roleplay! I am not turning this into a 1x1, as it takes away from everyone who found interest in this
-+★+-
7) Put the name of your alpha male in other
-+★+-
8) I have the right to reject your Roleplay form if I see you need to change something about it, if you need to do so more than 2 times I'll have to ask you to refrain from joining. I'll also be using it to gauge your literacy, so no one sentence descriptions. You don't have to go on an entire paragraph explaining their coat color but it should be good enough that we can paint a picture in our heads. That said, also include height please
-+★+-
9) Reservations last 48 hours, if you don't make your form in that time I'll notify you before removing your reservation. If this happens you're free to ask to reserve the spot again once but if you're still not able to make the deadline then you cannot reserve the spot again
-+★+-
10) Try to be active please! If you don't respond in 1-2 weeks I'll remove your character unless you have PMed me or said in the discussion about any absences
-+★+-
11) Have fun! Please don't be a downer. This is meant to be something fun
-+★+-
12) Not all stallions and mares are gonna be impressively tall giants or really strong and muscular, there's short horses in the world too
-+★+-
13) 3 warnings will result in a 1 week ban, 3 bans will get you kicked from the roleplay permanently and blocked
-+★+-
14) You're character can die! Whether it's a mishap when traveling the terrain or from a lurking predator. Fights break out, disease happens, births go wrong, etc your character isn't immortal
-+★+-
15) If you end up killing off one of your own, feel free to make another character with any remaining open spots
-+★+-
16) No OP characters, everyone has their limits. I don't want to see them suddenly gaining supernatural powers or mutations. The setup for this is probably going to be the only non-realistic thing about this roleplay.
-+★+-
17) If you're going to use an image in the appearance section of the sign-up make sure it doesn't violate any rules, that it's free to use, and you don't hotlink it! Additionally, even with an image I expect a decent description of their appearance
-+★+-
18) More Rules might be added

HERD RANKS

« - Lead Stallion - »
This horse holds the highest power position, but it comes with many responsibilities and is usually given to one of the leads' own foals. They are, with assistance from their lieutenant and deputy, tasked with making the major decisions, leading the herd through safe routes throughout the land, protecting the herd from challenging bachelor's, and chasing out and accepting horses into and out of the herd. They do make the decisions with consideration from their lieutenant and deputy but with smaller situations it's usually the lead that makes the final decision. If a lead were to fall and none of their offspring ready to take the position, the lieutenant will take charge
-+★+-
Lead Mare
-+★+-
« - Deputy - »
Deputy is a position given to a female member within the herd and is voted on who should be Deputy by mare vote. They are seen as the most capable to be in this position, and should be able to reinforce decisions, keep a lookout for potential dangers, give advice when needed, and take charge should they need to if one or both of the leads find themselves unable to be able to take care of the task. If the whole- or a huge majority of the herd -think them absuing their powers then the deputy can be stripped of their position in which case the herd will elect a new Deputy. This role can not be challenged for
-+★+-
« - Lieutenant - »
The Lieutenant, while not decisively next in line should anything happen to the lead stallion, is most commonly a stallion picked specifically by them. Whether they're trusted to help give advice in decisions and make calls when both the leads are absent or they're a horse they highly trust, what matters most in a lieutenant is that they're decisive. The lieutenant is there to help reinforce orders and challenge the lead's decisions if they ever find them taking a step too far. This position is given by the leads and can be taken away if seen abusing their position. Any stallion in this role can resign from their position, though be warned once stepping down it cannot be given again. This role can usually not be challenged for
-+★+-
Herd Mare
-+★+-
Herd Stallion
-+★+-
« - Yearlings - »
Those who are almost old enough to become actual members of the herd and where some of their more serious responsibilities are to start being taught to them whether they be mare or stallion. While it's good for them to start becoming more independent it's up to the parents to keep them out of major trouble. When the time comes for them to join the herd, they'll go through a test decided by both the lieutenant and deputy to see if they can join as official herd members. If they don't pass, one will usually be cast out as a lone stallion / bachelor
-+★+-
« - Foals - »
Their vulnerability makes them a priority, and seeing as they're the next generation of this herd, the future even, it makes them of the utmost importance that the herd raises them well. While they are encouraged to learn small responsibilities while they're young it's also important that they get a taste of their childhood and enjoy themselves to the fullest. It is up to the mother and sire mostly, along with, even though less, the herd to make sure these foals get the most out of their childhood and keep them away from trouble and danger alike
