Elena Fadden Nickname Lena Code name Raven Age 26 Gender Female Species Human Role Spy Apperance Starting off with her hair, Elena has long, silky, raven black hair. It reaches a little lower than her mid back so she usually has it in a high ponytail or a bun. She has what people call a baby face but nothing about Lena's personality is immature. Sure, sometimes she makes mistakes but she's by no means naive. She has beautiful sapphire blue eyes that often draw people in and make them fall for her. Showing off her eyes is very helpful when she's on a mission and needs people to let their gaurd down. Unfortunately, her eyes are usually dulled by her serious expression when she's not on a mission. . Moving on to her body, Elena has a lithe yet slightly muscled body. Lena was always on the small side as a child and that carried over to her adulthood. The only reason she has slight muscles now is because of her endless training. Her hands are calloused unlike most of the women in the kingdom, which makes her stick out more than you would expect. Even if she has the perfect disguise you will always know it's her when you go to shake her hand. She stands at 5'2 and weighs about 100lbs Personality Elena is the definition of, "Don't mix business with pleasure." She's a totally different person when she's at work compared to when she has free time. At work she is calm, calculating, confident and determined. But during her free time she is more of a loner, but if you get past that, you'll see her carefree side. She loves to be silly and play around, compete for fun and just overall but be an adventurous person. However, it will take a bit of breaking down walls to see her silly side. Most of the time, she's just a grumpy loner, so steer clear. Trust me, her fellow co-workers do. . So here are the different walls you will face when you attempt to get to know Elena. First you will be met with the air of indifference. She will only tolerate you if she absolutely has to. And you can bet she'll have the tightest lips in the world. This is why people call her cold or a grumpy loner. Most everyone who knows Elena is in the category. If you manage to break this wall, congrats, your way ahead of everyone eles. . The next stage is slight friendliness. Elena will wave when she sees you and talk to you occasionally. However, if you expect that she'll spill all her secrets to you, your horribly mistaken. Anyhow, this stage is mostly reserved for people Elena respects, so good luck ;) . Congratulations once more! In this stage Elena finally calls you a friend. You can expect her to be slightly more open about sharing stuff and being more like her real personality. She always makes time for people in this stage atleast once a week. She genuinely cares about them and will protect them, even if she still isn't totally honest with these people. But uh, there's literally only one person in this stage, which is Lena's childhood friend so it's a complete miracle if someone eles manages to get to this stage. . The last stage to Elena's heart is total openness. She tells you basically everything in this stage - unless it's confidential of course. And she lets herself let go and fully embraces her fun side. If someone could peek into this side of her but then see her other side, they wouldn't even believe that the two personalities are the same person. But that's just who Elena is. Currently no one is in this stage but - wait, what's this? Another stage? . This is the core of Elena's heart and all that's in it is... Loneliness and sadness. Her number one rule in life is to hide this part deep, deep inside her. So if you manage to uncover this part of her, you can bet you have the most loyal friend in the whole entire world. She'll die for you without hesitation so use her loyalty wisely. As for the reason for this loneliness and sadness, you'll just have to wait and find out(though you will get the picture in her backstory xD) Strengths 1. Combat - she's trained in hand-to-hand combat and most weapons so it's hard to catch her off gaurd in a fight. 2. Stealth - she's light on her feet and she's a sneaky girl. 3. Quick thinker - when you need to make a split second decision, she's the girl to come to. 4. She has excellent senses for her surroundings, making it hard to sneak up on her. Weaknesses 1. Blood - alot of blood makes her sick so whenever she kills she always trys to keep the death as clean as possible. 2. Heights - she's scared of heights and freezes up when she has to be higher than the lowest branch of a tree. 3. Pain - even though she's learned to hide it, she has a low pain tolerance, making her hate pain. That's why she always focuses on not getting hit in a fight instead of actually taking down the opponent. 4. She's not very good at reading people but she knows enough to get by. Backstory Elena was an only child in her happy household. Her mother was a doctor and her father was a rancher. Lena was in blissful happiness until her mother died due to a disease when she was 10. That's when realty came crashing in for the young girl as the family struggled financially. 6 years later, when everything had finally gotten back to normal, Elena came home from school to see her father dead on the floor. . That single moment made her sick of blood more than anything eles. When the authorities examined the body they saw a vampire's bite mark and Lena caught wind of this. Her father's death was never solved and she has yet to trust a vampire since. . After the incident the royal family took her in to live with them until she was old enough to be on her own. The reasons for the action is unknown but that didn't stop Elena from enjoying her new shiny life where she buried her loneliness and sadness deep inside her. Of course, Elena's care was kept under wraps and no one knows she's the adopted child of a royal. . After spending about a year with the royals Elena learned about spy work. She resolved to become a spy so she could pay back the royal family for everything they have done for her. Other 1. She is musically gifted. She has a beautiful voice and an ear for music. However, she never sings infront of people because of her personality and cause it makes her self conscious. 2. She's an animal lover through and through and she owns a wolf-dog as well as a falcon. Both animals are especially trained by her to aid in her missions if need be. 3. Part of the reason she became a spy is because she loves the thrill of trying not to get caught. 4. Her favorite food is garlic noodles :> 5. She hates the morning and waking up. She much rather stay up late. 6. Her go to weapon is blow darts or a gun. Both weapons leave little to no traces. Bit of an older sheet. May update as we go along? I'll have ta see. Name: Alexander Cortez Age: 359 Years Gender: Male/Man Species: Vampire Rank: King Appearance: Alexander Cortez is nothing short of dashing, easily stealing the spotlight upon entering any room. Though, this may be more so for his reputation rather than his looks. He stands at a height of 6’3”, towering over most of the humans in the castle. His build is lean and muscular, providing a good balance between agile and strong. The most defined of his muscles are those along his arms, upper back, and chest – giving the appearance of the common boxer. His legs, while not as defined, carry a decent amount of muscle and provide good balance during fights. His skin is of a pale complexion, one of which he likes to consider similar to the moon's glow. Those with a distaste for him, however, compare it to the tone of a days-old corpse. Along his chest is a long-running scar whose origins are unknown. This scar is never put on display, and only those close to the king know of its existence. The king holds a very regal posture. Back straight, head held high, and arms behind his back. This posture almost never falters, and it is only behind closed doors that it drops. The vampire king has rather defining facial features. For starters, he has an impeccably strong and masculine jawline, and ends in a prominent chin. Its “curves” are sharp and angular, creating an angle a smidge less than 135 degrees when moving away from his ears. Speaking of his ears, they are oddly pointed. Not enough to be akin to an elf’s, but enough to see a difference. The tips of these ears are always covered by his mop of black hair. His hair is more short than long, but still has some length to it. It ends a little over halfway down the back of his neck and cuts off at the top of his forehead. Bangs decorate the front of his hairline, curling around the sides of his face – going slightly past his ears. These bangs are slicked back in public, hidden among the rest of his hair. His eyes are sharp and upturned, telling all you the words that run through his mind that his face, posture, and words cannot. They glow a low, rose red at all times, but it is only noticeable in the dark. In place of his canines are sharp fangs, overlapping with the opposite set of teeth. Unlike what the popular folktales claim, they are non retractable and do not grow in length upon biting. The king does not have much of a taste for fashion. In his mind, as long as it is “proper” he will not care what it looks like – unless it is utterly ridiculous. Around the castle, he wears a red tux-like coat laced with gold embroidered over top a white shirt. Long black pants pair with this shirt, as do common black leather boots. A black, fur lined cloak rests upon his shoulders when in this outfit. It splits down the middle in a jagged pattern – starting at the base of his shoulders – that is oddly similar to the structure of bat wings. Meanwhile, a crown – one made of gold and encrusted with blood-red rubies – claims his head as its own. For any sort of party, meeting, or event, he wears a generic tuxedo with some dress shoes, his crown, and possibly his cloak. When preparing to sleep, he will change into a soft but deep red robe and pants that appear to be encroaching on the territory of magenta. These articles of clothing are made of the finest velvet, fit for a king such as himself. Personality: Cold || Calculating || Observant || Brutally Honest || Playful || Courteous || Protective “My dear girl, this is not a game you want to be playing.” Cold is how all of the world would describe Alexander Cortez, and they couldn’t be more spot on. He carries no warmth in his heart, nor sympathy in his soul. He only cares for himself. Do not come to him asking for anything, he will not grant it. Rather, he is more likely to punish the person asking for fun if anything else. To him, the world is a game meant to be played, conquered, and toyed with. Human lives are the expendable pawns, the vampires his tools, and the world his playbox. He plays this game in a very calculating manner, thinking through all possible outcomes that each scenario brings. He never acts first nor without thinking. The world may be his sandbox, but that does not automatically make him a god. Few things go unnoticed by this pale toned king. He is very observant when it comes to social interactions, and always tries to take in as much information about a situation as possible. What they say, how they move, changes in behavior, slipups, and the like. His observations about his environment, however, are not as good. Unless he senses danger, it is unlikely that he will notice any change – especially on his busy days. Alexander is known to be honest. He refuses to lie, finding that it would only do more harm than good. Sure, he may twist his words to sound like one thing while meaning another, but he never lies. While one might begin to see this as a good aspect, the king has found a way to completely twist it around. He is brutal with his honesty - never taking into account the feelings of the opposing party. If he feels the need to speak the honest truth, he will. No questions asked. The vampire can be rather playful at times. He enjoys toying with the emotions of others, twisting their minds to think much differently than before. Whether that be to cause self doubts or to turn them to his side depends completely on who he is interacting with. Though, he does enjoy more “normal” games such as chest. What? Just because he’s a ruthless, blood thirsty beast doesn’t mean he can’t have some class. Despite this chilling deminer, the king is rather courteous to those he deems worthy. Generally, those people are other royals, noble vampires, and any new maids entering the castle. Many see this as a way to draw them in. Alexander, however, is him just being his nonviolent self… until he finally decides what to do with you. Until then, he will remain polite, respectful, and somewhat considerate. What most humans in this day and age see as King Cortez’s possessive nature, is actually his more protective nature. When something important to him is threatened, he will immediately go on the offensive – defending it to the bitter end. Even if it cost him his life, he would never stop fighting for it. In the past, this behavior was always put on display for his kingdom. Nowadays, this is rarely seen – pushed aside by his less desirable traits. Oh, where the time has gone. Strengths: + Agility: The king is pretty agile for his size, able to dodge a decent number of attacks while dishing out a good number of his own. + Intelligence: Intelligence is one of Alexander’s biggest strengths. Without it, he would not be where he is today. + Lack of empathy: Not caring for others brings a lot of benefits in this world, including but not limited to a lack of guilt and hesitation. + Reputation: Having people know you for your ruthless behavior brings a lot more upsides than one would think. Sure, you won't have as many allies, but who needs those when your enemies are too scared to even think of attacking you. All one needs to do is keep up that reputation and voila! Thankfully, for someone like Alex, this is an incredibly simple feat. Weaknesses: - Sunlight: Being hit by a ray of sunlight causes severe burns to form along his skin. If exposed long enough, he will perish. - Can’t take hits: Damage is not something this vampire is good with taking. Just one or two hits is enough to knock him out of the fight for good. - Garlic: As with all vampires, Alexander carries an “allergic” reaction to garlic. Being near it for two long drains him of his strength and, eventually, life. - Lack of blood: Not having enough blood in his system can be very detrimental at times. The lack of blood weakens him greatly, sometimes to the point where he cannot even stand. Affiliations: Zebadiah (NPC) – His most loyal and trusted guard. Other: - Alexander has an odd attraction to music. If he could, he would have a band play for him everyday. Well, what am I saying? Of course he can. He just doesn’t have the time. - He can’t care. Never again. He will not fall for this trap called “love” that all humans so desperately seek… at least, that is what he tells himself. Edited at April 11, 2024 01:54 PM by High Hills Pack

Elena Elena barely made a sound as she walked down the palace's endless hallways. Her steps were brisk yet calculated, her head held high. She ignored the servants working around her, her mind on one thing and one thing only. Their majesties had called upon her and she intended to get there as quick as she could. The promise of a new mission made excitement bubble up in Elena's stomach which made her a steps a bit louder than they would normally be. Even in the palace the spy refused to let her gaurd down. But surely being a touch loud in your own home wouldn't hurt? . Elena pushed big ornate doors open, stepping into a lavish throne room. She quickly turned to address the queen and king, dipping her head in respect. "You called." She stated before looking up again. "Please, tell me what is to be done and I will execute it to perfection." Her voice radiated confidence as she spoke. Despite her excitement, the slight crease of her eyebrows suggested she wasn't going to let her feelings get in the way of anything. The king and queen smiled slightly at the sight of their youngest and probably most skilled spy and assassin, though they knew Elena preferred to keep the assassin part a secret. . "We have a new mission for you, Elena. But it will be by far the most difficult. Are you sure your up for the challenge?" The king's boomed through the mostly empty room, making him appear tougher than he actually was. Elena nodded, determination and excitement shining in her eyes. The king gave his adopted granddaughter a warm smile at her reply. "I knew you would be." He said before turning serious. "You will be spying on the neighboring king, Alexander Cortez. His shenanigans have gotten out of hand and he has gone too far." For a brief second surprise and alarm flashed across Elena's face but it quickly disappeared as she got ahold of herself. "Anything for you and the kingdom." She answered without wavering despite the unease starting to gnaw at her. . The queen smiled to herself as she sat beside her husband. "Besides, we could use the extra land that his defeat would bring. With him eliminated, we wouldn't have to worry about his army and unpredictable whims." Elena didn't bother answering the queen as she knew she was obsessed with power. She wouldn't stop supposedly worrying until the whole world was hers. "Your mission is to get as close as you can to that mutt of a king and learn his weaknesses. But if given the chance, don't hesitate to eliminate him yourself, Elena. You know the rules about elimination. Just don't get caught and you can eliminate your target however and whenever you want. So long as it gets done, I will not complain." The king said, speaking up again. Elena nodded but couldn't bring herself to be enthusiastic. Still, a mission was a mission. . "You will infiltrate Alexander's palace under the guise of his new personal servant. We had his former one eliminated and we already got you the job so all you have to do is show up. You should act as a naive young woman who is innocently interested in the king and his affairs. We believe this is the best route to him letting his gaurd down. Once you start working try to find anything that could be useful to us for taking him down. Otherwise, you are free to take the mission at your own pace. I don't have to tell you not to get caught, so you are free to ask your questions now." . Elena took a deep breath before looking her king in the eyes. "I only have one question, your highness. When do I start?" The king smiled, breaking some of the tension in the air. However, his smile didn't erase the dread trying to swallow Lena whole. King Alexander was known for his ruthlessness. And they expected her to go in as his naive personal servant? How was she supposed to defend herself if she was pretending to be innocent? "Tomorrow morning. 6am sharp. Don't be late to his palace or eles the mission might fail before it even begins." The king stated. Elena nodded before excusing herself. . As Elena walked back to her room she felt like throwing up. The king was right, this would be the most dangerous mission yet. If she got caught their majesties wouldn't be able to cover it up like they normally would and she herself would most likely be executed. All she could do now was use all the resources she had to her advantage to hopefully succeed in the mission. Still, Elena could already tell it would be a long night for her. . Alexander Night is a mesmerizing time, filled with all kinds of beauty and wonders for the world to see. From the smallest of fireflies to the brightest of stars, its presence was a welcomed sign to most “day-dwellers” as well as to those who roamed the night. A sign of an ending day or the start of a new one – whichever fits the person and their endeavors more, really. Though, no matter the symbol, it still held enough radiance to be beloved by many. Yet night is all starry skies and peaceful dreams for those who find themselves underneath its blackened aura. For those of Alexander’s kingdom, night was a different sort of beast. One unimaginable for most “sane” individuals. Where fiction becomes fact and truth becomes tales. This once mystical hour is now one of overwhelming terror for those humans within the kingdom’s domain. Monsters roamed the land at these hours, much like those of other monarchies – each as dark and ruthless as the king himself. A common theme for this kingdom, it would appear. Bloodlust was all they held in their ever quiet “hearts,” their hunt for violence seemingly never quenced until morning’s light. But, their ways were not as simple as heinous acts. Oh no. They liked to play first. Have someone fall for their ploy or give them the mere inkling that they ever had a chance to flee. To the civilians, night was nothing more than a death sentence. To the king, however, it still retained its majesty of soft velvety skies and serene silvery glow. Regardless of its looming threats or frightening shadows. Then again, he was amongst the ranks of beasts that roamed these lands. He had little to fear from the morals he called subjects, let alone those of his own kind. They knew well enough to respect his authority, lest they wish to become like the very people they prey on so frequently. Cortez let out a thoughtful hum at his reminiscing thoughts as he blankly looked out amongst blackened houses and shops of his land. He stood by the railing of one of his many balconies – this particular one being that which he frequented the most. It led directly to his main office, the doors of which had been left ajar following his departure from that room. Their glass panes of which glinted slightly from the last flames of that candle he had lit some hours ago. The dirtied metal between the panes held no such appearance. Darkened red eyes continue to scan the streets of this measly castle-town as the vampiric king behinds to strut towards the other side of the high-sitting balcony, his steps slow and methodical as he traversed the small area. His left hand runs delicately along the top of the stoney addition as he moves, mindlessly tracing each and every groove that it glided over. Everything appeared orderly to the king in the pitch of night, despite the obvious peril looming over the civilians he called his subjects. Brightened houses were and far in between, with most being enveloped in sugary dreams or bitter nightmares. Even fewer were the lights of “brave” souls wandering those perilous streets of his. Most were drunken fools, stumbling their way home after an evening at the bar. Their fates would be all the more welcomed for him, if they were to encounter them. Others were merely those unfortunate enough to find themselves out at this hour – late-night workers or family errand runners was usually their class. And though he would prefer that they be left to their own devices, he rarely stopped his kind from going after them. His walking stops as his eyes shift to the surrounding landscape of the town. It was a magnificent sight, in his opinion – a land of mountains and dense forests known for their unexplainable dangers. As far as humans were concerned, that is. “Legend had it” (as many of the more superstitious humans would say) that only those who found the king’s favor had the capability to migrate into the area and survive. It was as though he had cast a curse over the land, one that took the lives of those who dared to trespass into those darkened groves. Alexander found that he could not truly argue against this. With the amount of “monsters” he had patrolling those lands, the earth may as well have truly been cursed. Rare were those that entered without his knowledge, thanks to the near-constant surveillance of the area. Even fewer were those that made it through without perishing to the blood thirsty mongrels within. So long as their intentions were seemingly pure, he would permit their coming. However, that begs the question, the pale skinned flickers his glowing orbs to one of the paths that led to his castle’s town, how did that fiend manage to get in? Somehow, someway, a certain someone managed to slip their way into the black haired king’s domain. A head scratching predicament, but not something that he hasn’t dealt with before. There were always those few that managed to slip on by. It was inevitable, of course – no kingdom was without its hiccups. Though that didn’t stop him from punishing the incompetent scouts on the job. What truly set this apart from other intrusions was the human’s actions. That despicable wretch had miraculously pulled off the murder of his personal server. A shame, really, as she had been one of the more useful and intelligent ones. Still, that action had been enough to enrage him – but it seemed that the killer had the smarts to leave before being found. A pity. He would have made for a good feeding. Thankfully, the cold hearted king had managed to snag another servant rather quickly. The speed at which the role was taken, however… baffled him. It was strange that anyone was to jump on so quickly – what with the constant “disappearances” of most of his past workers and all. But he chose not to question it… just yet. For all he knew, it could be some newcomer to the town that merely wished to be near to the kingdom’s “spotlight.” Not the first time that would be the case, either. Though, the question remained: how exactly had that murderer managed to slip in in the first place? The slightest hint of yellow sparked upon the horizon, just over the mountains – the call of the rising sun and the postponement of his pondering. With narrowed eyes, Alexander turns on a dime, his cape whipping harshing at the momentum his action had carried. Long strides take him through the opened glass doors, the room they were connected to now dark from the lack of a candle’s flame. The second he entered, they swung shut with a small thud and the fluttering of moving curtains as he proceeded to call it a night.

Raven aka Elena A knock at Elena's bedroom door made her jump. She gritted her teeth in embarrassment, upset she had let her guard down. Though the reason she jumped wasn't exactly because her guard was down but more because of the frightening stories/rumors she had been reading. Disappearance after disappearance kept popping up when Lena went to do her research about Cortez's kingdom. Not to mention all legends and rumors about Alexander himself. Like seriously, every kingdom, king and queen had their fair share of legends and rumors but it seemed like Alexander had made some up just to get attention. Of course, most of the rumors were made up - but by the subjects, not the king himself. Elena was having a hard time finding anything concrete about the neighboring kingdom besides scary stories. She had never had this much difficulty researching before. Now more than ever she understood why she was tasked with investigating Alexander. Still, that didn't make it any less scary. . Another round of banging shook Elena out of her thoughts and back into reality. She cleared her throat before saying, "Come in." Immediately the door burst open and in flung Stephanie, Lena's only friend. Since the two were friends, Stephanie had gotten permission to enter the palace whenever she wanted. You could thank the perks of being the friend of the best spy the kingdom could offer for the unique permission. "I got your letter. This is horrible, Lena! Do you know how bad a reputation Alexander and his kingdom have?! You'll almost certainly die as soon as you get there!" Despite having the same thoughts, Elena shook her head. "Don't worry, Steph. I'm not called the best spy for nothing. You know I never get caught. Plus, it's just an info job. I won't be in any danger." . Stephanie plopped down on her friend's bed, taking in her surroundings before frowning. Her narrowed eyes met Lena's, clearly not pleased. "You didn't get a wink of sleep, did you?" Elena shook it off with a laugh, standing up and walking over to her wardrobe. "So, what should I wear?" Stephanie didn't answer and instead looked out Elena's window. "I'm scared, Lena. Your my best friend yet your always in danger..." Elena sighed and moved to bring her friend in for a hug. "I told you, I'll be fine. But if it makes you feel better, I'll send you a letter every couple of days. We can use the code we made up as kids, okay?" Stephanie seemed to calm down a bit as she nodded, pulling out of Elena's embrace. She then gave her friend a small smile. "Alright, I'll help pick out your outfit." ~~~ After saying goodbye to Stephanie, Elena got into a carriage that would take her to the borders of her kingdom. She then would travel on foot to Alexander's border. There, she would sneak in using the way a kingdom assassin - the one who killed Alexander's personal servant - used. Apparently the king had had been trying to find a way in to the Cortez kingdom for years, and since he finally found a safe route, Elena's mission was born. From what she knew, it was a miracle that they actually found a route in. Rumor had it, the Cortez kingdom was the most securely guarded kingdom for miles. Then again, the spy wasn't one for blindly following rumors. . It was still dark when the carriage stopped at the border. Elena took a deep breath before climbing out of her ride to face the wilderness in between the two kingdoms. Just a little hike through the woods and she would be stepping into Alexander's territory. As the carriage rolled away, the spy let out a sharp whistle. Minutes later, a peregrine falcon and a wolf-dog came shooting out of nowhere. The falcon landed on Elena's shoulder while the dog came to stand at her side. "Alright, you two. We need to be on full alert from now on. Be ready for anything." As if understanding her, Oaka, the wolf-dog, turned to scan the group's surroundings. Elena allowed herself to smile, patting the dog's head, before she started walking into the forest. . After walking through a small forest, Elena and her pets came out into a clearing. Right infront of them stood a small mountain which also happened to serve as a border marking for the Cortez kingdom. "Oaka, go patrol around here and bark if you see anyone coming." The spy whispered before getting out a map. Apparently there was a tunnel through the mountain that led you behind a waterfall and also into the kingdom. It was genius because no one would think to look behind a waterfall. Using the map, Elena quickly located said tunnel. Once Oaka was back from her patrol, which wasn't long at all, the group quietly headed through the tunnel. . "Once we get in, you two will have to stay by the waterfall until I can find a place for you to stay." Elena whispered to her companions. Not long after, the tunnel opened up and the group found themselves behind the waterfall. By the sound of the water, the flow wasn't super powerful, but the spy was still cautious as she slipped around the waterfall and onto dry ground. After giving her pets the signal to stay in the area, Elena was once again off. Even though the sun wasn't out yet, the darkness was lightening slightly so the spy knew she was running out of time. . After walking for a bit, Elena came upon a village. If her info was correct, all she had to do was follow the main road and take a right turn at the last minute and she would be at the palace. Unfortunately, no people were out that the spy could see. That meant she couldn't really blend in with the crowd, but she guessed that would be okay since she was already in the borders and she was supposed to be an ordinary maid or whatever. Sighing, the spy countinued on her way. To everyone on the outside looking in, you saw a normal young woman on her way to work who was maybe a tad oblivious. But in reality, Elena was on high alert and ready to fight or flee if necessary. . Since the streets were empty, it took no time at all for the spy to make it to the palace. Once she had given her name - rather, code name - and everything eles she needed to give, the palace's guard granted her permission to enter. However, something put Elena on edge. The guard just didn't seem...right. But there was no time to dwell on a single guard when the spy had a bigger target in mind. . As soon as Elena stepped into the palace, a servant cautiously approached her. "Um, hello. Are you a new recruite? I don't recognize you." The spy immediately got into character, beaming at the servant. "Hello! I'm Raven. I'm his Majesty's new personal servant. I'm so excited I can barely contain it!" 'Liar', Elena thought to herself. She was actually dreading this job unlike any other. Plus, she was kinda tired from the all nighter. The servant seemed uncomfortable. "His Majesty's servant isn't supposed to arrive until 6pm, not am. I suppose it's bound to be mistaken since jobs usually start in the morning, but being his Majesty's personal servant means you work at night." . Elena held back a growl when she realized her king had messed the times up. Luckily the servant didn't catch Lena's muscles tightening as she tried to calm herself. What was wrong with her? Normally something like this didn't shake the spy, but today she felt like one tiny mistake could cost her life. She supposed staying up all night, reading scary stories didn't help much. "Ah, sorry about that! What should I do then?" The servant gave a weary smile. "Just go to your room and rest up. You'll have a long night ahead of you." Before Elena could ask for directions, the servant had disappeared. With no one around, the spy sighed in frustration. She knew her room number, but not where the room itself was. . Elena took a long look around before heading down a random hallway. Hopefully she could find another servant who could give her directions, or at the very least, find the room herself. If she didn't she may just end up writing to Stephanie to pass the time. If only the spy could've found blueprints to the palace, things would've been alot easier. But instead, she had been reading nonsense legends and rumors. Elena took a deep breath as she turned down a different hallway. "Calm down, Elena. If you don't get your act together you'll get caught on the first day." The spy whispered to herself. . Turning down another hallway, Elena almost ran into a tall figure. However, with reflexes refined by years of spying, she was able to dodge the incoming person just in time. As soon as she had jumped out of the way, her head snapped up to identify the person. Her mouth hung open when she realized who she just about ran into. Without a second to spare, Elena, or shall I say Raven, dipped into a deep bow. "I am so sorry, your Majesty! I- I wasn't watching where I was going and I was trying to find my room and- I'm so, so sorry!" Once Alexander signaled for her to stand, Elena glanced over the king's appearance. His whole persona demanded the attention of the room and paired with his height, Elena shivered despite herself. "Your Majesty, if I may... I'm your new personal servant and I just want to say, It is an honor to work for you. I've always wondered what it's like to be a ruler and now I get to work beside one! Thank you, for this opportunity, your highness." Elena's attitude screamed naivety but inside she was gagging at her own words. Edited at April 18, 2024 06:50 PM by ~Terebinth Wolves~

Well that took longer than expected. ^^' Alexander Silence encompassed the darkened halls as Alexander gradually made his way to his quarters with grace only one of royalty could possess, save for his own footsteps and those of his companion. A single knight walked beside the ruler, towering over him in a fashion that most humans of this day and age would consider impossible. Zebadiah was his name, a brute of a guard that claimed loyalty to his throne and one that should be on his way to his own room, had he actually listened to the king’s order. But he didn’t expect anything less from him. A proper posture was adorned by the king, with a straight back and lifted chin. His hands were held behind his back, one clasping the wrist of the other in a light grip. His eyes were set forward, looking nowhere but his future location. The same couldn’t be said of the looming guard, however, who took up a more imposing and gruff stance than a regal one. Not that his wasn’t imposing in some matter of the word, he just preferred to let his presence speak for himself. The hallways the two traversed, though not void of light, were coated in looming shadows – ones which pricked at the skin of any mortal that found themselves wandering through this stoney expanse. The blinds to any and all windows were shut tight, denying any beams of light to slither their way into the lavish corridor. The only light source present for the mortals of the castle were the light of dying candles, strewn about the immediate area with seemingly no pattern to the untrained eye. The vampire's driven strides eventually bring him to a crossroads in the maze known as his corridors – a turn leading towards the entrance and left wing of the castle. There was nothing terribly special about this particular area of the structure appearance wise. Rather, it was what came from it that caught his attention. A small figure, especially compared to the two men, rounded the corner right as the king himself had reached it. One that very nearly ran into the man in question if not for the swift "dodge" they performed in order to prevent such a thing from occurring. Unlike the figure, he did not move from this previous pathing but merely halted. He was the king after all, they should be moving for him. Instead, he simply tilted his head downwards ever slightly to get a better look. A young, petite girl was the one who had interrupted his travels. Her raven black hair was all he could really see at the moment, his stature preventing him from properly seeing her facial features. That is, until her own face tilted up to see who she had stepped in front of. A stoney expression overtook his face as the tirade of stumbling words began, being borderline bored if not for the slightest glint of curiosity in his red eyes. He paid close attention to the human’s flustered or wary apology, coupled with a bow that could use a bit of work in this professional opinion. It was something he was not unfamiliar with, having experienced a number of apologies from intimidated human staff before. Though, none quite in this setting. It was amusing, the hasty explanation for her actions and repetitive “I’m so sorry’s.” It was clear that she very likely feared some sort of punishment for this mishap of hers – something that he wasn’t afraid to go through with had this not been a first “offense.” The signal to stand follows the end of her rambling, his expression still quite stoic after its completion. Though, it was quite clear that she had still yet to finish if her request to continue was anything to go by which he was quick to permit with the wave of his hand. His face retained its previous expression throughout the proceeding explanation, shedding no light on any possible emotions aside from curiosity in that moment. Not that he was experiencing many others, anyway. The statement itself was laced with nothing less than extreme naivety and hopeful placations. An attempt to ease any anger that may have stirred within him from her earlier actions. It was a sight to behold, truthfully. Few went so far as to claim that they were honored to work with him out of all those within his kingdom. Those who did usually did so to put on a show or what not. A way to get on his good side and ensure their longevity during their stay. Not that that had ever worked before. This time, however, he had difficulty deciphering whether this was a mere statement of appeasement or genuine innocence. In either case, he decided to play along. A splitting grin worms its way into his face, shattering the once stoic look he had been holding. The bare minimum of his elongated fangs could be observed glinting the dim candle light, appearing as any “human” fangs would – if not a tad larger than usual. “Ah, what a lovely dear you are. It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance,” he begins, gingerly takes her hand with a bow and presses a kiss to its back in the process – all the while holding contact with those sapphire orbs. Dropping her hand, the king straightens his posture before going on, “I am sure we will get along just swell if this product is anything to go by. Though, I must inquire,” his face changes to one of feigned concern, “Did my maids not instruct you to your room? I apologize on their behalf. I’ll make sure to address this issue as soon as possible.” Walking around her slowly like a cat circling a mouse, he drums on, “Well, no matter. My guard here will just have to do their job for them. Isn’t that right, Zebadiah?” The guard grunts in response, but doesn’t move to take residence at the girl’s side just yet – choosing to remain in his previous spot. However, he knew better than to expect disobedience at this moment. He would get the job done, so long as Alexander willed it. “Well, now that that’s settled,” he turns his back to the two beings with him, “I shall be returning to my quarters. I will be seeing you at sunset, my dear. Sleep tight, and don’t let the bats bite. We have a busy day ahead of us.” His grin becomes more lax as he says this, with only the side of it being visible to the girl behind him due to his turned head. Without another word, he begins his walk once more – one guard less. Edited at May 6, 2024 02:15 PM by High Hills Pack

Raven aka Elena Elena felt a glare cutting into her so she did a quick survey around the area as soon as she had finished rambling. She wasn't surprised to see a gaurd was accompanying the king. Her own king had two guards with him at all times, and only the most trusted of people. But, she was more than a little shocked to see the gaurd was even taller than the king. And what was with his glare? Well, she supposed almost running into the king hadn't given a good first impression. Elena resolved to not let him intimate her, but to keep an eye on him all the same. He could be trouble later in the mission, afterall. She then turned to the king, just in time to see a grin light up his slightly unusual pale face. 'I'm not going to let you intimated me either', Lena thought to herself. She had to admit though, she wasn't expecting a smile from the man who she just about ran into, and, to top it off, was king. Or was her majesty right: Alexander really did favor innocent, naive little maids?(it sounds really wrong but you know what I mean ><) . As the king took her hand and kissed it, Elena froze for a second. Hold up, he was being way to nice. Not even a prince would do that to a servant in Lena's home kingdom. Despite being suspicious, the spy forced a bright smile that made her eyes sparkle. "The pleasure is mine." She responded, not letting her innocent mask drop for even a second. Even though she didn't show it, she was glad when Alexander dropped her hand. Physical contact with anyone could be dangerous in the spy world. You never know if they are trying to get your gaurd down and what lies hidden in their shirt sleeve. "I would be most delighted if that is the case. But no, they didn't. Don't worry about it though, I'm sure you have way more important things to think about!" . Warning bells began to go off in Elena's head as the king began to circle her. This wasn't a very desired position to be in, especially since it would be easy for Alexander to strike without a second thought. Not that he had any reason to, but that thought didn't stop the spy from going into super high alert. Through it all though, she didn't drop her smile. And at the mention of his gaurd, Lena shifted her focus over to him. She wasn't surprised to see his expression hadn't really changed. She was surprised, however, when all this "Zebediah" fellow gave was a grunt in response to his majesty's request. She was even more surprised when Alexander didn't say anything about it. Wasn't gaurds and other staff supposed to say "Say, sir!" no matter what? . Elena turned back to Alexander when he spoke once more. 'Don't let the bats bite? What the heck is with that translation?' "Sleep well, your majesty. I look forward to our next meeting." Lena said with a smile, her words punctuated with a curtsy. 'Never turn your back on me, Alexander. You won't live to regret it', she thought to herself when Alexander turned away. She watched the king walk away for a second before turning to Zebediah. If he wasn't here, the spy probably would've followed the king just to know where his quarters were. But alas, he was, and she dared not make herself look suspicious by saying he didn't need to escort her to her room. . Without a word, the gaurd began walking in the opposite direction. Elena followed quietly, slightly dreading being alone with a random man. And ugh, she didn't want to entertain awkward conversation. To her surprise though, she needn't have worried over the matter. Throughout the whole journey, the gaurd didn't let out so much as a peep. It was refreshing honestly; to not have to worry about forming a quick response and instead just be able to make a mental map of the hallways she traversed. As she walked she let herself ask the question she had yet to ask herself. Why the heck was Alexander sleeping during the day and working at night? Unfortunately, only one word popped into her head. 'Vampire.' But that wasn't possible, now was it? . Suddenly, Zebediah stopped infront of a door that held the number of Elena's room. Painting her bright smile back on, Lena turned to the gaurd and once again curtseyed. "Thank you, sir. You are most helpful." As she straighted she added, "Oh, I'm Raven, by the way! I look forward to working with you - even if it's not directly." And for the first time since entering the palace, those words rang the most true. The guard grunted in response before turning on his heel and walking away. Most people would've probably thought him rude, but Elena just smiled to herself. Ah, how she wished more people were like him. Once he was out of sight, the spy entered her room. After doing a quick check of the room and putting away what little she had brought, Lena drifted in and out of light slumber. . (Hope it's okay and you like it ^^) Edited at May 6, 2024 10:57 PM by ~Terebinth Wolves~

Finally, I got something out! Sorry about that. ;-; Alexander The rising of the moon’s pale light marked the founding of the night, the time in which all beasts and monsters arose for their routine activities. The king was of no exception to this, his rose red eyes fluttering open the second the serene light flickered over the top of the mountains encasing his lands. It was like a sort of calling to those of his kind, demanding their utmost attention and compliance. And there was no going back to sleep once it had laid its grasp on one’s mind. With a soft yawn, Alexander sits up from his lavish bed – his slumber light but enough to allow for a well rested feeling. Extending his arms over the top of his head, he stretches out his back with a few satisfying pops. An old habit of his from days long since passed. It was never really necessary for him to do nowadays, but it still felt good to enact. Once satisfied, the vampiric king hops off his bed – his red robe and near-magenta pants ruffled from their daily use. His nightly preparations started soon after, following the standard steps that most humans would partake in. Showers, combing of hair, and the like. Finished, he dawns his favorite red tuxedo and black pants. A black fur lined cloak laid over it, its two different sides fluttering slightly as it settled into place. Content with his appearance, he assumes his regal posture and heads towards his room’s exit. Taking one hand from behind his back, he pushes the large door open and heads towards his usual spot within the castle – his office. A companion is quick to join his travels, an expected happenstance but not one that he was particularly thrilled with. Zebadiah, who had already been standing outside the ruler’s door for some time from what he could tell, was now walking beside the king. The roll of his eyes was all that the guard received, void of any words or comments on this oh-so-common situation. He could not count the number of times the hulking vampire had done this, looming outside his door despite his “shift” requiring him elsewhere. Though, his actions at least showed just how loyal he was to the throne. Nodding to the guard standing the correct position, Alexander enters his office – scanning over every nook and cranny that could possibly be seen. A few seconds later, he walks towards his desk, opens the blinds behind him, and settles in his seat for the day. Rose red eyes overlook the paperwork he had set aside the previous day. It was the standard boring stuff those of his caliber had to deal with. Requests from commoners, proposals by nobles that only worked in their favor, the odd meeting request from other kingdoms. Really, it was a bore but it was work to be done. And who was he to turn down such things. Taking out a quill, he dabs it in the nearest cup of ink and pulls the first set of papers off the top of the stack as well his own blank sheet if need be. A few droplets of ink fall onto the surface of the written parchment, staining a few areas black but leaving it legible. His eyes start to scan its contents, but every so often glance towards the doorway – awaiting his expected “guest.” The new maid.
