Some info -Eryrelite is a harmful mineral to magical creatures that can be mined in the Winsby Mountains. It is a very rare mineral and is often used by dragon hunters to incapitate the dragons. The mineral is harmful to they but will not kill them. The mineral is a midnight black with red flecks throught it. - Dragons bond to their humans, and if their bond is close enough, their riders can devlope powers similar or identical to theirs. - Dragons are somewhat rare creatures and normally only the royal family and other higher-ups have them. - Dragons have a faster healing rate than other creatures and humans, and are able to heal from minor injuries almost immeditaly, larger ones taking longer. It's not extrememly noticable, but it can be easy to tell if you look at her broad shoulders and long, muscular arms. Her parents aren't always fond of her figure, as it isn't considered 'ladylike' to be muscular, but in Ethelia's words, "If you're going to ride a dragon, you have to be able to do more than just hang on." The sun's rays were bright and striking every corner of the thick forest it was able to reach. Strangely enough, the forest was dead silent. As though a predator was stalking through, looking for it's next victim. In this case, there was many predators hidden within. This part of the forest surrounded an open valley with tall grass. From above, the open valley looked like every other landscape. Nothing out of the ordinary. Except lurking at the edge of the tree lines, were a multitude of dangerous men with extraordinary weaponry at their fingertips. The enormous man counted down in his head, his gaze up at the sky. "He's taking too long." A male's voice broke through the silence. "We could be off by a few minutes. Callum will alert." The taller male's tone was stern. A few more long minutes passed, the two males once again settling into silence. The taller man, Alyosha, brushed his fingertips against a dagger's hilt, that was sheathed at his hip. The other male, Alaric, shifted his weight among his heels nervously. Ambushes such as this one took months to assemble. One wrong move and the whole thing would crumble. An ear piercing shriek echoed through the skies. "Told you." Just like that the men were on the move. Both men were quick to jump into action. Alaric swung his lean body into the seat at the front of the horse carriage. Six large draft horses emerged from the woods, coming to a stop a few feet away from the tree line. Lyo jumped to the back of the covered wagon. Releasing a few heavy levers, the walls of the wagon came down, revealing a monstrosity of a weapon. A heavy chain roll, connected to what looked to be dangerous looking spear end. The spear end was made of Eryelite. A rare material, that was quite difficult to collect. The giant spear end, glittered in the sunlight. More hoove beats could be heard around the valley. About five other wagons were placed strategically around the field. A few other men emerged on horse back. A roll of heavy chains wrapped around their chests. The mens eyes remained on the skies. Within minutes, an enormous creature soared through the sky. The sheer size of it, just about blocked out the sun. "Now!" A command echoed out. The sound of chains unraveling rapidly, filled Lyo's ears. There was no issue with aiming as the target was huge and hard to miss. The spear head shot out into the sky. With a few passing seconds, it hit the target. The target being, a damned dragon. Another spear shot out from across the valley. The shots were timed, and were set off one at a time.

Ethelia let out a cry of joy as her and Aegon took to the skies. She let out a sigh of relief as the weight of palace life was whipped off of her shoulders by the wind. Ethelia would never get tired of the feeling of the wind running through her fiery hair of the sound of Aegon's beating wings. It was a beautiful day, the sun high in the sky as the two soared across the kingdom. She didn't particularly know where they were going, but she let Aegon lead the way. "Ready to try our newest trick, bud?" She asked. Ethelia had came up with something she liked to call creative flying (it was in need of a better name). It basically consisted of performing tricks on dragonback. Ethelia had earned many scars from her dangerous tricks, and many near-death experiences, but she loved doing, loved the thrill it brought her. One of the first tricks she had learned was how to stand on Aegon whilst he was flying. It took lots of balance and practice, but she eventually mastered it. She had came up with many more tricks sense then, such as walking along Aegon's back, and even going as far as to dangle herself from his horns. Most people didn't think so, but Ethelia thought Aegon was extremely smart. Once her fingers had slipped off of his horn and she went plummeting down towards the earth. Within seconds she was back on Aegon's neck, she hadn't even fell 20 feet before she had been rescued by him. He seemed to understand everything she said. Her newest work in progress trick was the most dangerous yet. Some would call her insane for even thinking of doing it, but Ethelia knew she was already insane anyways, so she had nothing to lose. The newest trick was simple- she threw herself off of Aegon's back, plummeted for a few hundred feet while Aegon dived next to her, and seconds before she hit the ground, she would grab on to Aegon's horn, and voila, she was saved. Ethelia was preparing to throw herself off of her dragon when she spotted something. Dark specks on the forest floor. She didn't have time to observe what it was before a spear was launched at them. Ethelia shrieked and urged Aegon to miss it, but it was too late. The spear plunged right through his chest, missing his heart. Aegon went limp beneath her as the two fell. And there was no one to save her this time. She grabbed onto Aegon and hung on for dear life, hoping that maybe his body was absorb most of the impact. The noise of Aegon's body hitting the ground echoed for miles, and the breath was pushed out of Ethelia's lungs as her dragon hit the ground. Luckily, she wasn't hurt. She heard muffled voices shouting orders. Ethelia drug the bow off from around her shoulders and pulled and arrow that was left in her quiver. She jumped over Aegon's body, relieved to hear his shallow breathing, and pointing the arrow at the first person she saw. An incredibly tall man with black curly hair. Ethelia took a few ragged breaths and spoke, "Give me one reason not to kill you all right here." Edited at January 13, 2024 10:30 PM by _Moonshadow_

The group of Dragon Hunters was quite vast. It took a great deal to take a dragon out of the sky. Their main targets were solo flying dragons. They'd attack when they were most vulnerable. Oblivious of their surrounding and on their own. No rider and no other dragons. Although, they didn't tend to travel in groups to begin with. The could get away with the kill, as long as the dragon didn't have it's rider with. Even though dragon hunters are just a bunch of criminals banned together, they never crossed one line. Don't kill the rider. They hadn't made a grave mistake like this in years. They used many of the specialized weapons, in case they had bad hits. Today, they simply had luck on their side, as the first spear managed to knock the beast out of the sky. It normally took the fourth spear to force them to land. Even then the damned beasts fought back, as they restrained them. Alyosha used his large hand to shield his eyes from the suns bright rays. With narrowed eyes, he cursed aloud. "Aric, the beast isn't alone!" He hissed to his brother, who was still seated at the front of the wagon. His jaw clenched tightly. Aric followed where his brother was looking. "There's a rider." Clear shock in his voice. Aric scrambled to stand on the wagon, waving his arms frantically towards the other hunters. "There's a rider!" He hollered loudly, as he warned the others. A few of the drivers of the wagons that had yet to shoot their spears off, whipped the reins. Making a break for the woods, as the white beast picked up speed as it plummeted to the ground. There was still quite a bit of men that stayed their ground. Lyo ripped a contraption out from a spot in the wagon. The tool was massive and looked like enlarged shears. He tossed it to his brother, who caught it smoothly. "Cut the chains before that thing crash lands." He ordered his brother, as he made his way to the other side of the wagon, pulling a large axe off the side. He glanced up at what looked like a cloud falling out of the sky. They weren't going to make it in time. The men shielded their eyes as the thing crashed into the ground in front of them. The dragon just about created a crater on earth with its limp body. Lyo watched intently, as a woman, jumped over the dragon's body. Her eyes set on him. He clenched his jaw, a dagger hidden in his dominant hand. As if sensing trouble, a massive shadow emerged from the woods behind Lyo. Huffing roughly, Torrin, an unusually large Kodiak bear stood tall. Ready to protect it's people. The bear was decked out in unusual handcrafted armor, that glimmered in the sunlight. "Give me one reason not to kill you all right here." Alyosha tilted his head slightly, "You're severely outnumbered." His tone dripped with venom. Now would be a great time for their leader to come out.

Ethelia tried to ignore the enormous Kodiak bear that appeared out of the forest. One ice blast to the eyes and it was harmless. Ethelia chuckled, "And you bugs-for-brains think I don't know that? I do know one thing, from the look of the lot of you I'm definitely not outsmarted." There was no feeling to explain how much Ethelia loved insulting people like this. People who had the nerve to shoot down her dragon. Ethelia casted a glance over to Aegon, who was still in the same position, his breathing still shallow. His eyes had glazed over slightly, and where the spear had hit his chest was bleeding, quite a lot. She had to get the spear out, and figure out where she was go she could get him home. She looked back to the group of criminals. Oh how her father was going to love hearing about this. "Now, if you brutes don't mind, I'm going to take my dragon and go. And if you're lucky, you won't end up behind bars for the rest of your lives." She sneered, making her way over to Aegon, still aware of the many men behind her, armed to the teeth. Ethelia grabbed on to the spear, ready to pull it out when she gasped. It felt like a blanket had been thrown over her ability. It was just, gone. Then came the stinging pain in her palms. Ethelia hissed and let go of it quickly. Eyrelite. She needed to get that spear out now. Aegon had to be in so much pain, if it had caused her that much pain just to grab onto the spear. Ethelia looked back to the criminals, fury burning in her gaze. Not only did they have the audacity to shoot her dragon out of the sky, they didn't even give him a chance to fight back. "You all are a bunch of damned cowards. Not only did you shoot my dragon out of the sky, you didn't even give him a chance to fight back." She hissed, looking towards Aegon again. "Now you will help me get this spear out of his chest before this whole forest finds itself in a sudden winter." Edited at January 14, 2024 09:21 AM by _Moonshadow_

The leader of the band of Dragon Hunters, Gregory, finally stepped forward. His hands up, as he chuckled. He stood in front of Lyo, but no where near blocking the large man from view. "Hey, hey lets just all settle down now." His voice held authority. "This is all just a big misunderstanding. You see we work closely with the Kingdom's Milita." The lies spewed out of Gregory's mouth like it was the truth. "You see, this-" He motioned towards the enormous spear lodged in the dragon's chest. "Is a prototype we were testing out, before we sold it to the Militia." He shrugged his shoulders, nonchalantly. "Turns out it works a little too well." He joked, awkwardly. Gregory cleared his throat, "Of course, well help take the spear out." He assured, he looked to Lyo and Aric, as if to give them the go ahead. It was no easy task taking out a spear of that sheer size out of a dragon's flesh. It didn't help the spear embedded itself even further, when the dragon hit the ground. It would take quite a bit of man power to pull the spear free. Although, at this point in time there was no need for the men to do it, when Lyo had Torrin here. The brute of a creature was able to pull the spear out in record times. Lyo's glared intensified as he watched the woman. Gods, he hated the rich. They were all snobby with sticks up their arses. This woman didn't even know who they were yet here she was demanding they help her release that beast. Lyo scoffed at Gregory, "I'm not helping do a damned thing. Let that savage beast die where it lays." He snapped, ignoring Gregory. Switching his fiery gaze back to the woman, "Be my guess, I prefer the winter anyways." He sneered at the woman, before turning to his brother. Snatching the tool out of his hands, he kneeled down sliding the mouth of the tool over the thick chain link. He grunted slightly, as he snapped the blades down on the chain. Breaking the chain was the first step to releasing the dragon from it's snare. Though, it also had to be done, if Lyo wanted to vacate the premises with his wagon still intact. Pulling the tool away, he grabbed the axe, it was a two step process of breaking a chain. Standing back up to his full height, he swung the axe down, on where he had cut the link. A few more brute swings and the chain snapped loudly. Lyo was no where near out of breath. He'd done it a dozen of times. Gregory turned back to the woman, "Excuse my friend here. He's new to the company." Lyo didn't care to play along with Greg's ploy. Putting his tools away on the wagon, he was getting ready to climb up the wagon and make his leave. "Lyo!" Gregory snapped, his calm demeanor long gone. Lyo whipped around cursing at his leader. With a few quick strides, Lyo towered over the man. "Don't be such an imbecile, Greg. She knows what we are." He hissed. "Might as well take this as a head start." He snapped once more. "Get the spear out, Lyo." Greg was calm. Lyo couldn't figure out what Gregs plan was, but he also didn't care to find out. Lyo cursed, before spinning on his heel and striding over towards the woman. "Come, Torrin." He ordered the bear to follow. His amber eyes flashing dangerously, as he didn't take his eyes off the woman. The armor the bear wore, clinking slightly as it walked over. He dragged the end of the chain where he'd cut it, as if it weighed nothing. He roughly shoved the womans shoulder, with his arm, as he passed her. "Out of the way, Princess, before you hurt yourself." He sneered, as he towered over the woman. Lyo didn't even know the half of how accurate that nickname actually fit the woman. He worked quickly, like he'd done this many times before. Attaching the end of the chain to Torrin's armor, he ordered the bear to begin tugging. Kneeling on one knee, he gripped the spear's end. The spear slowly began moving out of the dragon's flesh. Messing with a mechanism at the other of the spear, where it connected to the chain, a loud clank rang out. The spear was absolutely lethal. One couldn't see it, but once it lodged itself in a target, it released a contraption that spiked out like a grappling hook. It only created more damage from the inside for the dragon. Lyo created it so it could be closed, before pulling out the spear fully. It lessened the damage done. The spear was finally out, Lyo inspected the gaping wound. Leaning a hand on the scales of the dragon. Pulling a vial out, he pulled the cork out with his teeth, before applying the solution.

Ethelia noticed the man emerging from the shadows, his hands held up. She chuckled at the lies. No one like this worked with the Kingdom's Militia. Idiots. They couldn't even recognize their own Princess. "It must not work as good as you say," She said as she gestured to Aegon, "as my dragon still lives." She watched as the man nodded to the curly haired one and what looked to be his twin. The first one looking like he woke up on the wrong side of the bed. She watched as he spat a response to what seemed to be his leader, then he turned his attention to her, spitting his words at her feet. One side of her mouth quirked upwards. She could have him executed just like that for speaking to her in such a manner. "Oh I'm sure you would love for me to freeze your body from the inside out." She spat back, glaring into his amber eyes. She watched as the man, Lyo, broke the chains on the spear. Ethelia was forced to take a step back as Lyo shoved her, the name he called her ringing in her ears. He has no idea. Ethelia observed as the group worked to remove the spear, hooking up the larger bear to the spear as he drug it out of Aegon's body. Aegon let out a pained yelp as they did so, enough to make Ethelia want to tear off the heads of everyone here. She watched as Lyo pulled out a vial of something and layed a hand on Aegon. If he didn't finish in the next two seconds, he would find himself without a hand. Aegon pushed himself to his feet with a groan of pain, blood dripping from the wound. Ethelia walked over to him as he lowered his head to her level. She stroked his leather scales, "You're okay." She whispered, relishing the feeling of his hot breath on her face. She looked back towards the men, not bothering to thank any of them, if they didn't shoot him down in the first place, none of this would have happened. Ethelia walked up to Lyo, having to tip her head back slightly to look at him. "My greatest apologies, I must of forgot to introduce myself," She stuck out her hand for a handshake, "Ethelia Sonnet, it's my pleasure." She sneered.
