Plot

A group of friends live in a small town, where basically everyone knows everyone. The group had decided to run away from their homes, whatever their reasons might be, leaving on January 10th. All of them know that magic doesn’t exist, it’s something everyone knows.

--

So when they start getting strange abilities, what will happen? And it doesn’t help that they get kidnapped along the way...

--

But either way... Soon they’ll learn... That their world isn’t what it seems, that nothing is as it seems. And when their kidnappers give them an offer, what will they choose? What will their life become? Is it worth it, to keep running, or will they end up right back where they started? And what is this 'Purple' that keeps popping up, is it even a what or a who? Only time will tell in this story of action, magic, mystery, and the slowest of slow burn romance...Because this... This is A Mystery of Choices.

Gwyar 'Khorne/Ariethous' Ariethous Fraoch | 16 | AB | Male | Painful Adrenaline | Both | Closeted Demisexual(HML) | Mentions; The Others(Ind.)

He stayed in the room provided to him, right against the door as to listen into the hallway. Once he could hear the standard sounds of stumbling footsteps and a closing door, he knew what the noise meant, he glanced around the room. The room was small for someone of his height, though he’d never get a new one, something he’d known for years. His bed was in the middle of the room instead of up against a wall, something he’d done himself. Before, there hadn’t been a bed to begin with.

--

But he was getting off track. He went over to the bed from where he positioned by the door, grabbing his black duffel bag and putting the bag on. He ran a hand across the top of his hair lightly, at the moment he was wearing a braid. He took a breath, and then slipped out of the room.

--

He walked down the hallway with a practiced silence, once he neared the living room, his eyes caught sight of the Jambiya dagger he’d been planning on stealing for this trip. He went over to the dagger, putting said dagger onto his belt before turning and continuing his trip out of the house.

--

When he left through the front door with a gentle click behind him, he took out his phone and checked the time. He was most definitely going to be early. After all, they weren’t supposed to be meeting each other at the spot until 10 PM, and the train ride wasn’t until 10:30 PM.

--

He began his trek down the street. At this point, no one in town ever looked twice at him walking down a street at ‘such a late time’.

--

What you doing?

--

And of course, just when he was getting used to the silence. He shook his head to try and jostle the noise out, talking to them wouldn’t help anything, he knew.

--

I think it’s ignoring us again.

--

Aww, why? I don’t think brooding hour’s here yet…

--

‘I hope not. That would just be sad.

--

Lame. That’s a pathetic excuse. I say it punches a wall if it wants us to leave so bad.

--

Ooooh, how about ten walls?

--

He gritted his teeth and decided to tune them out as best he could at this point, the buzzing getting far too annoying for him to deal with for the entire walk to the meeting place.

--

After a few minutes of an annoying buzz in the back of his head like static he refused to listen to and hated, he could see the old gas station. Immediately, he went to the station’s alleyway, the designated meeting spot for the group. He leaned against the wall and allowed himself to think, being careful as not to allow the voices to make any coherent speech as he did so.

--

What was he even doing right now? To any onlooker, he probably looked strange. Or like a drug dealer. One of those. He made a noise in between a huff and a sigh. He was waiting for seven other people that he barely knew so that they could run away…

--

Running away… Seemed like that was his favorite way of dealing with things, he’s done this so many times… Such an easy thing to fall back to.

--

Don’t forget about cowardly too.

--

He gritted his teeth, he didn’t remember letting up the tuning out…

--

Why’s it mad at us? We aren’t doing anything.

--

He narrowed his eyes at the wall in front of him. Oh, how much he wanted to respond… But he knew that wouldn’t help him. All that would do is cause people to stare at him like the voice’s aren’t actually there. And, to be fair, they most definitely aren’t actually there. Nobody else has ever reacted to them, at least. He forced them out as much as he could, he was busy.

--

What to do while waiting… He couldn’t smoke, since he didn’t know when Axel would be arriving and he didn’t want to accidentally cause the boy a coughing fit or anything… His left hand was gripping the handle to the dagger he’d brought. He could put in some practice, the dagger was almost the size of a very short sword. Then again… He could also take out that book on mythology that he decided to bring… Then again, none of these ideas actually sounded smart. The others didn’t really know about the swordsmanship or the mythology interest, and then the thing with Axel…

--

But he couldn’t just do nothing either…

--

Just punch a wall then!

--

Lameeeee, do something fun.

--

How about it talks to us?

--

Or it could just wait patiently for it’s human friends.

--

It could do that- But that’s lame. It should punch a wall.

--

Or scream at the top of its lungs. That would be funny too.

--

He groaned in annoyance and leaned his head back onto the wall behind him. They definitely weren’t helpful. If anything, he was starting to see the appeal of smoking even more. Screw the fact that, that could send Axel into a coughing fit. The little guy has more than proven he’s able to stay safe.

--

He fished out a cigarette and his lighter, lighting the former immediately before taking a drag. He would wait like this. He could totally wait like this. He just had to ignore the voices.

*I feel like I should give a TW just in case, so I will...

My post (and many of my future posts) contains abuse (mental, physical, and some very vague, undetailed, and within guidelines sexual that is only suggested), neglect, mentions of s*icide, blood, and many mental illnesses*

Leroy Hall

16/B-/Male/Water/Both/Pansexual

Leroy paused his movement to run a hand through his hair, glancing at the clock on the wall. The group would be meeting up soon and Leroy would rather not be late.

He heard the front door open and shut, meaning that his parents had left for the day. Not that it mattered, they wouldn't notice he was missing anyway, but it did make it easier to leave.

Sighing, the half-blind male picked up his already packed bag, threw it over his shoulder, and started towards the front door, double-checking that his parents had left before proceeding. Just in case.

Satisfied, Leroy stepped out into the chilled air and took a deep breath, releasing it slowly before moving towards the agreed meeting place. Nabih would already be there, no doubt, and maybe a few others too. And some would be late. Someone was always late.

Where they would be going, Leroy had no idea. If they had discussed it (which they probably had), he had blocked them out while they did so. It didn't matter really, anywhere was better than here. Better than home. Better than the place where 'the accident had occurred.

As soon as the thought popped up, Leroy pushed it away, the same way he always did. He didn't need to think about that, he didn't need to think about him. Yet, the more he tried to ignore it, the stronger the thought pushed itself to the surface, just as it so often did.

His brother lying in a puddle of his own blood, a knife in his chest that was forced there by his own hand, his skin was deathly pale, but when Leroy touched him he was still warm.

And then the note.

The tears, the pain, the screaming, the begging, the sirens, his sisters fighting back against his grip trying to get to their brother's side.

Silence, loss, darkness, regret, numbness, nothing.

'No.'

Leroy bit his cheek hard and pushed everything down again. The others didn't know. They didn't know anything.

They knew he was an egotistical, loud, brat, but that was it. He hadn't told anyone the past, especially not the true past, the fact that it was his fault his brother was dead.

They would never forgive him.

But that's why Leroy was running in the first place, to get away from the place where his brother had died and away from his neglective parents.

After walking a bit longer, Leroy reached the meeting point and stopped, walking over and leaning against a wall with his arms crossed, he shot Ariethous a glare when he spotted the guy smoking, but he didn’t say anything. It wasn’t like he would listen anyway.

Instead of interacting, Leroy just stood and waited, his eyes (well, one good eye anyway) scanning the territory around him for the others.

Ethan Brimstone

16/O/Male/Aura Reading/Both/Gay

Ethan pressed himself farther into the closet, shaking and sobbing. He was silent, just as he always was, and if it was good for nothing else, at least it was good for hiding.

"Ethan, darling! Come on out, it's been a whole dayyyy~" Val's voice was slurred, showing the fact that he had been drinking again. He was always worse after having a few drinks, and he was already bad without them. "PleaseÁ? I just wAnna have some fun~" E closed his eyes as the footsteps grew closer, stumbling every once in a while. He pressed his chin to his knees and clutched his bag hard to his chest.

He had almost been done! He had almost escaped!

Ethan had been heading towards the back door when he heard Val enter, and he'd immediately taken cover. The little, ragged house was small, so there was a very good chance that Val would find E and take advantage again before he could even fully process and react. It happened often.

It occurred to the mute that he would have had a better chance running, being drunk as he was Val couldn't have followed very quickly, and E probably would have been safe, but his instincts to hide had taken over as soon as he heard the door and Ethan had taken cover.

Now there was a knock on the wooden frame of the closet. "Ooooo, Eeee! I know you'Re in there! I cAn smeellll youu!" Val laughed and pulled open the closet door. Before he could even think, Ethan bolted, shoving past his abusive captor and racing towards the door. Val let out a squeal of surprise but, for once, the mute didn't look back.

He ran and ran until he reached the meeting place and finally sank to the ground, back against the wall, panting and sobbing. Unlike Leroy, most of the group was aware of Ethan's situation and it wasn't uncommon for him to show up like this, panicked and upset, many times even bloody. Still, it couldn't be fun having to deal with him.

Ethan made a mental note to apologize for his behavior later. They shouldn't have to put up with him.

Once he had managed to calm down a little, Ethan looked up. He spotted Leroy first, leaning against the wall across from E and making a point to ignore him. Ethan didn’t blame him, the guy was bad with emotions and probably wouldn’t have been much help anyway.

Then he spotted Ariethous… smoking. Of course, he was smoking. Ethan looked down at the ground again, it wasn’t his place to get onto the guy for his bad habits… Someone else could do that. Someone else should do that, but it wasn’t going to be him.

Axel Founte

16/A/Trans Male/Quicker Healing/Both/Asexual Panromantic

Axel slipped out of bed, wincing as his feet hit the floor. His body was aching as normal and, also as normal, he had a headache and hacking cough. But he had to leave. He had promised the others and he wasn’t about to let them down because of some stupid sickness.

He walked through the house and grabbed his bag off the hook where it was hanging on the wall. He had packed it the previous night, knowing he wouldn’t be able to force himself to do it in the morning. His anxiety was already kicking in.

“Axel, sweetheart, where are you going?”

Axel looked up, surprised to find his mother, a kind-faced, tiny woman with pretty green eyes, watching him with deep concern.

“M-mama? I-I thought you h-had work?” Axel answered, wide-eyed. This wasn’t the plan.

“They let me off today, we were running pretty slow.”

“O-oh…” Axel paused, trying to think of a good excuse. “I p-promised E I’d m-meet up with h-him today.” Well, it wasn’t a total lie. It should work, his mother adored Ethan.

“I’m sure he’ll understand you’re sick, Axel. You need rest. I heard you coughing a moment ago.”

As if the words had triggered it, a cough rose in Axel’s chest and he had to fight to keep it down. “I-I’m fine. I w-want to go!” He protested. “P-please? I’ll be b-back tonight.” That was a flat-out lie, and the sickly boy felt a pang of guilt. He loved his mother and absolutely hated lying to her.

The woman paused, thinking. “Alright, but be careful, Axel, and come home if you start having trouble breathing!”

Axel grinned. “T-thank you, mama, I-I will. I l-love you.”

“I love you too.”

The sickly boy hurried out the door (though not too quickly), and started towards the decided meeting place of the group. It took him a bit longer than most people because he kept having to stop and take deep breaths before continuing. Eventually, though, he managed. Stopping as soon as he reached his destination and putting his hands on his knees, breathing deeply through his nose and exhaling through his mouth. Once he had caught his breath and steadied his heart-rate again, he looked up, immediately meeting Ethan’s eyes.

Now to anyone supervising, it most likely looked like the most intense-threatening staring contest of the century, but for these two it was standard greeting and simple conversation. Both were naturally very good at communicating through eye-contact and outward emotions, Ethan because he was mute, and Axel because he was very shy and hated talking because of his stutter so this was an easy way to understand each other and communicate… It also probably mildly terrified any onlookers. But hey, it worked!

After about a minute of silent staring without breaking contact or even seeming to move at all, a small, closed-lipped smile twitched on the corners of Ethan’s mouth and he stood, opening his arms in a gesture that gave permission for a hug. Axel answered with a wide smile and stepped into the embrace where they stood for a few seconds before parting.

“I hate when you two do that.”

Axel turned and spotted Leroy glaring them down.

“H-hello Leroy.” He said, unfazed by the other boys' unfriendly tone.

“What’s up Pipsqueak?” Now that was Leroy’s standard greeting for Axel… Also the only standard greeting he had other than silence or a simple nod if Leroy was feeling nice.

“N-not too m-much.”

The larger male just nodded and Axel sank down against the wall, Ethan following. Then they just sat there in awkward silence, waiting for more people to show up.

Axel had noticed Ariethous, of course. He also noticed that he was smoking. Axel didn’t say anything about it, but he really wished the guy would stop, his lungs already hurt and the smoke wasn’t helping. Still, he stayed quiet.

The last thing he wanted was conflict.

Tyler 'TJ' Jacobson/16/O+/Male/Spotted Hyena/Mon/Bisexual/Mentions: General
===========================
As the first hints of sunlight begin to peek through the eastern window, a sharp anticipation-excitment grin flashes in the dark. Today's the day. Tyler rolls out of the cheap, low-to-the ground bed and stretches languidly, taking one last look at the room he'd never see again if he could help it. Large windows, curtains open and left open despite the biting cold of winter snow. Mostly bare walls, painted a bland dark cream. There wasn't much in the way of decoration, mostly a few generic posters slapped on the wall to appease any visitors of a 'typical teenage room'.
Nothing much to do beyond getting dressed and the final equipment checks. Tyler grabs the thickest, most durable, and warmest set that he'd left out the previous night, quickly throwing the ensemble on and moving the single clothes dresser aside. Behind it sat his rucksack, loaded to near full capacity with everything he felt he'd need for this whole adventure. Buckles are secure, zippers undamaged, and straps unfrayed. Frame still stable and in-shape, no tears or thin patches in the material of the bag. Tyler spent his last few hundred dollars on this pack, just last week, and it was worth every cent. Fit everything like a dream, sturdy and durable, waterproof, and wasn't some eye-searing highlighter orange that would draw any eye a hundred yards away. Everything's as tightly packed as it's going to get, he's quintuple-checked what he has against what he needs, and it's almost time to grab the final parts. First order of business is, of course, water. Stale water tastes horrible, and the less time it spends in a bottle means the less time mold has to grow. The sink quickly fills the three plastic canteens, and each is sealed shut as tight as he can manage. Two get pushed into his bag, and the third is strapped to the back of his belt with a carabiner clip. Now that the sun's fully up and out, he has to get strapped in and get out.
Rucksack strapped down his shoulder, across his chest, and around his hips, Tyler climbs out his largest, northward-facing window. Because if he's running off forever, by god is he going to do it right. And if 'right' happens to be as extra as possible, well, this is an important day. Of course, there was noone to witness his temporary bout of theater-nerd-inspired insanity, because he waited for when no one was passing by. Like a practical, sneaky person who didn't want to be asked ridiculous questions like 'what are you doing out right now', 'how much does that thing weigh?', and 'why are you acting like a particularly overweight dog thinking it can sneak food from the table?' Because of his utterly impecable plotting skills, Tyler is wandering the outskirts of town in short order. It will take him much longer to get to their meeting place this way, but it's far stealthier and less likely to get any attention this way. A few minutes before they're all supposed to meet, Tyler gets close enough to the allyway to see the light from a cigarette, and a few faint traces of exhaled smoke. Because it's an incredibly stupid idea to just burst in on someone who's planning to disappear, Tyler knocks on the nearby old brick pillars marking the entrance with a small rock, and heads into the entrance to see four of the others having already arrived. Ariethous leaning against a wall as he smokes, Axel and Ethan doing their creepy telepathy thing, and Leroy glaring at the opposite wall. "Yo."

Nabih Rigzin Vidmantas | 17 | B+ | Male | Raised Intelligence | Both | Pansexual | Mentions; The Others(Dir & Ind.)

As soon as his timer went off telling him that he had ten minutes to get to the meeting spot, he grabbed his bag and left his room. He didn’t have to worry about his parents catching him leaving, they were both still at work. There was also no doubt in his mind that Leroy would already be there by the time he got there, which was something he’d done on purpose. He just hoped that Leroy instead of glaring at him like the man seemed to do with everyone, would instead shoot him a smug look. Because at least the smug look said that he felt more confident than an insecure glare.

--

He went down the stairs of the house, it was deathly quiet. He had always hated the silence… He knew it wasn’t really his parent’s fault… They were busy. They had work, and no time to spend with him unless to make sure he was staying on top of his grades and get onto him when he wasn’t. He took in a breath when he reached the front door, before opening it and leaving the house, walking down the sidewalk.

--

As he walked, he stayed on his phone so that he could go over the information he had on the city they’d be going to. Anamosa. It was going to be around an hour long train ride, which was fine.

--

After he’d reached the gas station, he could see he was, indeed, still a bit early. Like that would actually deter him.

--

He stepped forwards, hearing Tyler giving a word of greeting as he got closer. So he’d arrived right after him then. That was fine. When he reached the entrance of the alleyway, the scene he saw was something he immediately took to making notes on.

--

Leroy was leaning against a wall, glaring towards the other side. Ethan and Axel were sitting on the ground, having a silent conversation. Ariethous was leaning against a wall and smoking, which was undoubtedly not helping Axel’s lungs out any. TJ was on one side of the entrance, having only just arrived a minute earlier than Nabih. Very quickly, he reached the conclusion that no one was going to tell Ariethous to put away the cigarette, so Nabih decided he would have to take it upon himself to do so.

--

Ariethous, can you go ahead and get rid of the cigarette? It’s going to mess with Axel’s lungs. Plus, it is by no way good for you either.

--

The man looked at him, the height difference so extremely obvious to Nabih. The man practically towered over him, but he didn’t back down, he knew that he couldn’t. After a few seconds of seeming to debate with himself over it, Nabih watched as Ariethous took a long drag before putting it out. And then he was just waiting in silence again… Why did it have to be the quieter ones that got here first? Sure, Ariethous wasn’t actually quiet, but with the people that were here- He was fairly quiet. Nabih gave a quiet ‘Thank you’ and then went and sat down on the ground to wait for the last two.

================
Tyler 'TJ' Jacobson/16/O+/Male/Spotted Hyena/Mono/Bisexual/Mentions: General
Well, with Nabih coming in just behind him, Tyler now needed to find somewhere to lurk. Atop the dumpsters was good enough. The station never really used them, ever since the smell complaints, so it was much cleaner than one would think of when hearing 'dumpster'. While Ariethous was getting kindly chewed-out, Tyler settled on the closed steel lid, squatting like a bird on the edge. From here, he could see the entrance, and had a good angle to jump onto the old fire escape ladder-staircase-scaffolding thing. Granted, it looked like it wouldn't be able to take much more abuse, but it had seemed stable enough when he checked it out a few days ago. It wouldn't do to get grabbed by some back-end police officer with good intentions. Tyler resettled his bag's weight to be more comfortable in his hunched over position.
Now came the waiting. While yes, the meeting had been scheduled for 10, the train wasn't leaving until half an hour after that, and that meant sitting still for at least fifteen, more than likely twenty, minutes for the train to come in. Then everyone could go over supplies, because it was important to know what everyone else had with them. Tyler would have liked to tell them some of the stuff they should bring, but there were reasons everyone was leaving this dying town. He wasn't stupid, most of them probably had much worse issues than he did. It just wouldn't be feasible to make them all get full kits, what with the resources they had available, and that the rest of them probably weren't planning on pulling a 'mystic monk seeking enlightenment and spiritual ascension' like he was.
There wasn't much to do in the ally, what with the blank brick barricades blockading their brief base. Tyler could climb the fire escape like monkey bars, but it would be loud and not actually very boredom-relieving. Suburban parkour wasn't as interesting as tree jumping, because buildings didn't sway in the breeze or threaten to break under your feet. Maybe he shouldn't have been throwing himself across treetops the past week, if the spattering of bruises on his forearms, shins, and chest had anything to say about it, but there was nothing else he could really do to get used to carrying his new pack at high speeds. Well, alright, there were, but 'reasonable physical conditioning' has never been his strong suit. The more insane the activity was, then the better equipped someone will be to deal with something normal, right? Sure, you might be able to get by with pansy, vanilla workouts like running around a track or lifting weights or something, but pulling yourself against the flow of a small river will have much greater benefits in the long run.
(Tyler has problems with escalation)

Axel Founte/Leroy Hall/Ethan Brimstone

16/A/B-/O/Trans Male/Male/Quicker Healing/Water/Aura Sensing/Both/Asexual Panromantic/Pansexual/Gay

Axel looked up as Tyler entered the meeting place and waved in greeting but otherwise stayed quiet. Beside him, Ethan offered another closed-lipped smile to the new arrival. Moments later, Nabih appeared and the two both repeated their greetings to him while Leroy simply shifted his gaze from the wall to the ground.

In all honesty, Nabih made Leroy the most uncomfortable. Why? Simply because he knew what he was doing, he was confident, and most of all... he was nice about it. He could yell at Nabih all he wanted and probably would draw much of an angry reaction. And Leroy respected that. Silently, of course, but still.

Ariethous, can you go ahead and get rid of the cigarette? It’s going to mess with Axel’s lungs. Plus, it is by no way good for you either."

Axel watched Ariethous slowly put the cigarette away and finally relaxed, letting out a breath. He had been breathing shallowly to avoid inhaling too much smoke, but his lungs had started stinging even worse. He gave Nabih an extremely grateful look, coughing a little as he relaxed against the wall. Ethan shot him a worried look and Axel shrugged him off, smiling slightly.

"I-I'm fine."

Ethan eyed him disbelievingly for a moment before shrugging in reply and looking away again. Leroy still didn't react... until he heard TJ climbing and looked up.

"What the hell are you doing?!" He snapped, eyeing the other boy in anger that was really fueled by insecurity that he needed to let out in some way other than actually showing insecurity.

Ethan and Axel both followed Leroy's gaze to TJ and Ethan smiled slightly, amused by the other boy's want to climb on a dumpster. He didn't blame him but he was also aware that Tyler's actions had somehow triggered Leroy for no clear reason at all, and that was never good.

"L-Leroy please c-calm down," Axel said softly, his voice weak with illness.

Leroy's eyes flickered to the much smaller male. "And what if the police come or some crap? He probably damaged the thing." Once again, made-up excuses used as a cover-up.

Axel shrugged rather helplessly but Ethan tapped his shoulder, eyes filled with mild annoyance. Leroy was the only person the patient boy ever really go annoyed with. Axel looked at him and Ethan passed him a notebook that he had written in while Leroy was arguing.

"If the police come it will probably be because there's a group of runaway children, please leave TJ alone. He's not hurting anyone."

Axel gave Ethan a nervous look, obviously not thinking it was a good idea to show or tell Leroy what E had written. Still, the mute gestured towards Leroy. The guy wouldn't hurt them. At least, not physically. Even if he acted like he was going to.

"U-um, E said t-this." Axel held out the notebook shakily. Leroy read it over and huffed in anger, pushing off the wall.

"Oh stay out of it, Ethan! It's none of your concern anyway."

E shrugged, dropping his gaze and reaching for the notebook which Axel handed back quickly. Ethan was still annoyed but he was hardly going to argue with a much larger male who was raising his voice.

"P-please don't y-yell." Axel breathed, sinking back. Leroy clinched his jaw, looking at the pale figure. He felt a stab of guilt. He didn't want to scare Axel, that was the one person he did care about scaring. And by the looks of it, he had scared Ethan too... Great. The whole group was already against him, scaring two of the nicest members would not end well for him.

As much as he hated to admit it, he could not take on five people at once.

"Whatever." Leroy huffed, which, for him, was basically the equivalent of an apology.

Ooooh, Leroy didn't like that. Tyler turned his head to stare at him eye-to-eye. "I," he begins slowly, "have become as pidgeon." Face still stone-wall blank, Tyler continues, "Your french fries will never be safe again." Just to play up the bird look, he tilted his head ever so slightly to the left. At least Leroy wasn't pushing the issues. Seriously, how did squatting on a dumpster set him off? It's not like he tried to play a song by smashing the lid. Yes, climbing on a steel trash bin wasn't the quietest thing he could have done, especially with how much he was carrying, but the light clangs his footsteps had made wouldn't carry very far beyond the allyway's entrance. Besides, the station wasn't a very popular place for any law enforcment officers beyond the occasional ticket cop. There wasn't even many people loitering around the tracks, either. Not many people came in to this back-end town, and almost no one would be leaving at this time of day and year. Anyone who needed to ride the train to work would have already left, and nobody would be coming in during the beginning of the year. Now satisfied with Leroy not spewing random insult, Tyler turns to the Ethan-Axel pair (Ethel? Axan? What's the platoinic ship name, I need to know) and grins at the two. "Know when everyone else is gonna show up?" It'll be good to get on the train and finally out of this place. A city wouldn't be much better than the town, but at least it would be more alive. Plus, there would probably be quite a few groups that needed to be stolen from, and more stores with higher-quality camping gear. Maybe he could leave some cash with various shelters, or help out some of the inevitably hordes of strays.

Eva "Evie" Yates

16/A/Female/Uncontrolled Strength/Both/Bisexual/Mentions: Everyone (Ind)

Clicking sounds filled the quiet room, bouncing around the nearly pitch-black room haphazardly. A small device provided a dim light, lighting up the features of the black-haired girl as her sunken eyes stared intently, fingers moving swiftly from button to button. "YOU WIN!" Big red letters filled the screen, replacing the fighting figures that were there moments ago. In contrast to the enthusiastic voice that filled the room, the girl simply blinked her eyes, her face neutral, as she placed the game onto her worn-down mattress. Looking at her phone, the clock read 9:50. Heaving a sigh, Eva threw her legs over the tattered bedframe, hesitating for a moment before setting her feet on the cold wooden floor. Snatching up the pale blue bag that sat on the ground, the girl marched towards her door, not looking back at the second-hand games she had collected over the years which would undoubtedly be thrown out as her brothers refused to touch them.

Walking through the hallways, Eva headed towards the front entrance, putting her hand on the knob and throwing the door open, flooding the warm room with cool air. Stepping outside, her body went stiff as she heard a slight creak behind her, involuntarily turning her head towards the source of the sound. Two figures stood just inside, both being significantly larger than Eva, "Ah, well look what the cat dragged in." Swallowing down a nervous chuckle, Eva stayed in her position, attempting to leave her siblings with a single memory of her confidence, no matter how fake it may be.

"Shut up, and close that door too. YOU can go and freeze if you want to by WE actually have common sense."

"Why are you even out here, are you finally done being a hermit."

"Aw, our little sister might be growing from a worm to a moth, still haven't done anything with that rats' nest on her head." They both said, blatantly ignoring her presence as they spoke to each other as if she wasn't present. Had this been anyone else, annoyance would have racked her entire body at their comments, but absent was this feeling, replaced entirely by a growing sense of nervousness that prickled at her skin. Giving a tiny, nervous laugh, Eva attempted to shuffle her way out of the open door, jumping out of her skin as a hand was placed on her shoulder. "Don't you have ears runt? Since I'm so nice I'll tell you one more time, close the damn door." The oldest of her brothers said, his voice was calm and almost friendly its tone, contrasting wildly to his brown eyes as they stared down at the small girl, utter disgust and loathing evident at a single glance. Taking a shaky breath, the girl tore her eyes away from his hate-filled eyes and looked back into the house, taking note of the absence of her second brother and the sound of the coffee machine rumbling in the kitchen. "Welp, I'm either gonna die here...no, I'm probably gonna die. Welp here goes nothing." Her thoughts resigned her to her fate as she prepared her mouth to say what she guessed would be her last word. "You know, you sound a LOT better when you shut up. Why don't you let your face tell people how much of an ass you are for once." Anger flared in his eyes as her other brother poked his head out of the kitchen, clearly pissed off too. The boy closest to her moved his hand and attempted to grab her hair, managing to yank out a few strands as the girl ducked under his hand and ran out of the open door into the cold morning air.

Walking towards the meeting spot, Eva stopped in her tracks a good distance away, determined to calm her breathing before appearing in front of the others. Pulling out her fully charged phone, Eva tapped away at the screen, playing some kind of clicker game, which calmed her rapidly beating heart and dismissed the years of mean comments spewed at her over the years that ran through her head. Keeping her eyes down on her phone, the girl walked into the alleyway, only giving a glance at the people already sitting/standing around.

"Yo." She said neutrally, throwing up a peace sign at the group before going to sit. Never taking her eyes off of her phone, she sat in an empty space and began to wait.
