I breed American Bullies, and I can state with confidence, that while some people feed the dogs attitude or aggression, but some dogs are aggressive by nature. Now, by saying that, not ALL dogs in the breed are automatically aggressive. Pits tend to be territorial and possessive, so people tended to use them for fighting, which is how they earned their rep for being an aggressive breed. I've had pits that were the sweetest things, and then I've had some that aren't. It's just like people. Not all of them are bad, but accassionally there's a Ted Bundy or Jeffery Dahmer in the mix.

Interesting, the one that's been trying to get passed in the US has dogs being euthanized. If it looks like a bully, it's dying

they arn't slaughtered. It breeding, selling, buying, trading ETC witch is banned. the current bullies may live out their lives. Though, a lot of especially brits euthanised theirs (out from their own choice)

but this is also stated on the UKC webpage "Above all else, the APBT must have the functional capability to be a catch dog that can hold, wrestle (push and pull), and breathe easily while doing its job. Balance and harmony of all parts are critical components of breed type.

Yep, I wish we as a world would stop and actually inform ourselves and stop spreading misinformation. The media is always dramatizing things and blowing everything way out of proportion and now we have innocent animals being slaughtered because of it

yes i agree with you. I also think that a lot of people (in europe where these dogs are foreign) i think a lot of the people that buy them, encourage and like their history as agressive dogs

That doesn't surprise me, even rotties I've seen. Not many, but there are some. Most of the negative myths surrounding pits and such are because of the dogs that were abused, neglected, or used in dog fights. Gives the entire breed a bad rep

Almost any dog can do a job if it's trained right. Labs, goldens, german shepards, even Pitties and malinois, I've personally met a Doberman Pincher who was a cardiac alert dog. Many breeds have been trained for those jobs but some of them just arent in the media

pitties where never used as nanny dogs, thats a common myth lol

It really is sad. I work in a vet hospital and I've had more huskies, Dalmatians, and chihuahuas try and take my face off than anything else, but I've never seen any legislation about them.

Goats

I currently have a herd of 2 purebred, registered Nubian does (female goats), one a retired old lady and the other a young girl that's still producing. I will be posting about my amazing girls and their babies, maybe the occasional dog or cow. Feel free to comment, ask questions, and just talk about anything animal related (doesn't have to necessarily be about my ladies, just about goats or animals).

We probably wouldn't breed them if they weren't all purebred, registered, and high quality. Goat populations can grow quickly, so it's not responsible to breed a ton of pet grade animals. Plus, a well bred baby is worth more to buyers, and we aren't able to keep most our goats, so we need to make them valuable to others. But we're also breeding cos I'm lactose intolerant and their milk is easier for me to digest. Plus they've got to be in milk to show, which I enjoy doing.

LINK: To look up my goats, or the bucks we breed to (check pedigree, inbreeding, past kids, etc.), go ahead and click right HERE, and type in their full name. All goats registered via ADGA (American Dairy Goat Association) are recorded here.

Urban Acres Stunning Stella: Stella is Bean's mom. This girl has the best breeding of all my ladies. She's got a great general appearance and stature, but her mammary system (udder) is a pretty major weakness of hers. Her brother is Castaway, the buck we use for some of our does because of his good lines. Her mother was a champion, and she's won champion while she's been with us, as well. She's retired, so no more Stella babies, but we'll continue her line via Bean.

Cali Coast Majestic Jellybean: Bean is Stella and Watson's Daughter. We can't tell much about her looks yet, but her general appearance is very beautiful, and I look forward to seeing how she grows into herself. I'll update on mammary system when she kids in March 2023 (hope it's better than Stella's!). She's won junior champion, and champion, like her mom.

Some facts about goats:
1) As mentioned above, a female goat is called a doe, and sometimes referred to as a nanny, especially if she has had kids in the past. Male goats are called bucks/ billies when they are intact, and wethers/ billies when they are banded (castrated).

2) Goats are actually rather intelligent, most being about as smart as your average dog. But, like all creatures, some are duller, and some are brighter. Put the mind of a toddler in a hooved creature, and you're given a goat.

3) In most locations, goats need a mineral supplement to keep their health at 100%, as the land tends to be lacking in some mineral or other. In the case of my goats, since I'm on the southern central coast of California, they need a whole mineral that mostly comprises of copper (a pretty common one that's needed).

4) Goats only have bottom teeth in the front (8), meaning they need their hard foods to be cut or shredded so they can fit them in their mouths. Their molars are on both top and bottom, so, if a food fits in their mouths, they can chew it with their molars if they need to.

5) If a goat is chewing its cud (food spit up from the rumen, which hasn't been fully digested), that means that it is a content or even happy goat, and calm.

6) If a goat puffs up, and it isn't cold, then that means that it is angry. It most likely saw something that it believes to be a threat or even simply a nuisance. Destiny can't puff up too well, due to her thick fur, but she used to step in whenever anyone acted aggressively towards Catalina (our deceased doe). (I know this because a group of three Brazilian men, afraid of goats, temporarily stayed at my house. I was walking the does, and I told them to watch out for Catalina, because she didn't like strangers, so they decided it would be smart to try to scare her before she goes for them. Destiny got very huffy, and they decided to give the goats some space.)

Herd Pecking Order:

- Like most animals that live in groups, goats have a pecking order. There are those that are above the rest, those below the rest, and those in the middle. Below is my herd's current pecking order.

Stella (Pretty natural, as she's Bean's mom and a lot larger, but she's not a bully, just a bit pushy)
|
Bean (Stella's daughter, a lot smaller and naturally listens to her mom)

Dog

Maggie: Maggie is a purebred queensland, though not well bred because she doesn't fit the breed standard. She's definitely healthy though. She is very intelligent, and can learn anything in a flash when there's food offered as a reward. She's got a lot of energy and can be a bit nippy due to her hearding instincts. She used the chase the goats, but now she has the restraint to sit and watch them graze outside the pen without bothering them.

In Memory of:

Urban Acres GB Catalina: (Passed August 24th, 2021) Catalina is Destiny's niece/ adopted daughter. She was incredibly sweet and loving when she liked you and you weren't telling her what to do. She would be stubborn when there was no treats involved. However, she was incredibly intelligent, and could learn anything we wanted to teach her if she tried. She would knock over children, but that's fair because children are bothersome. She produced the most beautiful babies with Castaway, but, unfortunately, only gave us boys in the year we had her.
.
Urban Acres CT Destiny (Rehomed Aug 7th, 2023): Destiny is Cal's aunt & adoptive mother, as she raised Catalina. This lady probably has the poorest comformation (body structure), but the strongest mammary system (udder and coresponding parts). She is the sweetest goat I've ever met, this is said with 100% confidence and zero exaggeration. Unfortunately, I had to rehome her due to thinning out the herd, but she went with her daughter, so they're very happy together!
.
Cali Coast Irresistible Iris (Rehomed Aug 7th, 2023): A Destiny and Castaway combo doe, she has beautiful general appearance and great body capacity, and ended up getting her dam's good udder. She's an incredibly sweet doe that we absolutely love for her general appearance and good udder combo. Unfortunately, I had to rehome her due to thinning out the herd, but she went with her mom, so they're happy together!

They're my favorite breed, but I'm probably biased. XD
