I usually battle squirrels and rabbits whenever I kind of need to level up my wolves (I'm pretty sure one of my wolves is level 5 now?? I don't really remember, lol oops) but it IS something to keep out for!
I usually have the wolves use their highest level battling move so I don't have to worry about it, though! (Which you can manually change in the wolves' stats, I think?)

Basically I want them to be super good at pvp but we will start with squirrels in explore first

thank you for the tip! I have them on level 2 atm but I may try replaying level 1. I forget to pay attention to their level since it's so subtle when battling that I usually click through without noticing!

I've noticed that too! I've been trying the pusue option for other npcs and noticed the dialogue stating they decided to do their own thing. So, I have two stubborn alphas I believe, unfortunately DX

Something that I've found super helpful with NPCs is having at least one or two wolves that are obedient or agreeable. Then you can use the 'pursue' option and it lessens the chance of the NPC getting away.

I would try and level up your wolves on lower floors before defeating the event ones (that's what I'm doing right now, as a matter of fact!)
