Valentia (pronounced Val-en-chia) is a normal-sized Bavarian mountain hound. She stands at 18.8 inches at the shoulder and weighs approximately 56 pounds. Her ears are broad and floppy, but they don't affect her hearing much. Her tail is whip thin and can pack a punch when she gets excited.

Most of her pawpads are black. She does have one pink one. That pad is on her front left paw, third toe from the left when looking at the picture above. Her gums are a mottled pink and black. Her fur is slightly longer than normal, but it still doesn't cover up the fact that she is a muscular dog. Her facial and ear fur is shorter than her body fur, which is coarse and thick. Her claws grow quickly and are quite strong. This is good because of how much they are grinded down when she is training.

Her beautiful eyes look like a dark chocolate brown when seen from a distance, but close up, amber highlights with bits of yellow can be seen sprinkled throughout. Her nose is such a dark brown that it could be mistaken for black. Her head is dark brown, though her muzzle is as dark as her nose. The dark fur fades into a brindle once it hits her athletic body. Amber coloured highlights can be seen around her eyebrows and the top of her head when the sunlight hits her.

Personality

Valentia isn't the most wary canine in the group. If someone she cares about is in danger, she's an extremely reckless creature, and more dangerous than anyone has realized. Despite having such power behind a small body, she doesn't go picking fights. Rather, she's quiet and likes to listen rather than speak up. When she does ask questions, it's because she is genuinely confused or concerned about something.

When thinking about something, she tries to attack it from all different angles, though she knows she misses a lot. When speaking, she gets extremely nervous, and often overthinks her words and actions. She'd much rather talk one-on-one rather than the whole group because of this. If she makes a mistake that could have caused someone pain, she often berates herself over it to tears.

Despite all her issues, however, Valentia is extremely loyal, brave, and kind. She can seem distant at first, but that's because she chooses to learn about someone before she trusts them. She knows she's one of the younger canines in the group, but she doesn't let that stop her from trying to show the others she's up to the task. She hates being thought of as helpless or harmless. She believes that the greatest strength that the group has is loyalty.

Quirks:

Sometimes, she sleeps with her eyes open (this happens unconsciously), and always gets confused when she startles someone.

She paws at the ground with her claws when she feels nervous or self-conscious.

Valentia likes the idea of keeping quiet and has trained herself to walk and breathe as silently as she can. When she's feeling playful, she likes to jump scare Frosch.

- Often wakes up due to nightmares where she's messed up so badly it resulted in someone getting seriously injured or worse.

- Being a perfectionist doesn't help matters, either.

History

Valentia's history isn't really all that special. She trained harder than her littermates in trying to please her trainer, and was picked for the team for her awesome sense of smell and obedience.

Biological Background:

Collin grew up without a father after age 5. He died of heart cancer, and Collin barely remembers him. He has 4 siblings; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. His mother tried to find someone to take over the role of man of the house again, but Collin and his siblings secretly sabotaged her dates since they took away from her spending time with her children. His mother died a couple months ago right before his eyes; one of his so-called "friends" went crazy and got trigger happy. Due to Collin's track record and the circumstances, he was sent to the academy; the shooter went to jail.

Overall

Collin tries to act tough and most of the time, he can fool people into thinking he is. He often uses his criminal record to justify how "bad" he is and how "you should be afraid to be this close. I might hurt you" (Collin). In reality, he feels defeated and he's disgusted at himself. He tries to be active enough that he can forget about what he's done, but to no avail. This normally sweet but masculine man has done and seen things that he wishes he could revoke. But he can't. And the memories haunt him.
