A hunter was never supposed to be alone when hunting. Clearly, Tolkon did not listen to that rule. While skilled enough already, he always felt that another person would always slow him down... For that, he never requested it within the academy. It simply, to him, showed weakness. Hunting was about the kill, and there would be no kill if someone else made the prey run off.

That being said, Tolkon had been tracking a witch for quite some time now. He assumed it was a powerful one considering the fact that by now, normally, he would've found its little hideout. But so far... there was nothing. He hummed softly to himself, the cool breeze of winter air ruffling his dark hair. Tolkon had suddenly stopped in his tracks, feeling another presence.

Some witches had the ability to go invisible or perhaps transform into an animal, but those kind were never around here. Most like that were probably long gone, living far away, perhaps in the mountains. Whatever it was, probably some other, more experienced hunter would go after them. Tolk had only been doing this for a few years, but each hunt he was on, he never failed his superiors. It was obvious he was passionate what he did. He was relentless, and would do anything to get what he wants. Perhaps he's greedy, but in his own eyes, Tolk is just thriving to be the best he can be.

Tolk continued on, adjusting his shirt slightly as he continued on. He couldn't bare this winter any longer. To him, winter was simply non-existent. Obviously he was wrong, but he hated the season so much that it slowed him down enough already. Going through thick mounds of snow, trails getting covered, resources harder to come by... It was all hell for Tolkon. He never would find himself wishing it was winter. Who the hell does that?

Wolves, apparently.

In the distance, up on a hill, he heard howling. There was about a group of four, maybe six wolves that Tolkon could spot. Wolves were simply a part of nature, which meant that they were in fact going to attack. That's what Mother Nature had intended. Tolkon bared his knife, holding it out. He wouldn't waste arrows nor would he draw his sword - it'd be too messy.

But that idea was already too late.

Behind him he could hear the pounding footsteps of a pair of wolves, menacing growls emitting from deep within their throats. "Since when did these fuckers get so smart?" Tolkon asked himself, turning around. They were too close for him to react, so his best bet was to run.

And run he did.

He ran to the left, and so behind him were two wolves chasing him and to the right is where the wolves up on the hill were. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see the wolves coming down the hill. He continued running, sprinting as fast as he could. He had created the tiniest bit of distance between the wolves behind him and himself, making him feel more confident that he could escape this.

But he was wrong.

Tolk felt a body collide with his own, in which he grabbed his knife yet again to bring it up to the snarling wolf. He used his forearm to keep the head back from his face as the wolf tried to simply eat him. Tolk strained slightly, grunting. He brought his knife up to the animal's side, stabbing it repeatedly. Blood rushed down his hand and onto the snow, causing Tolk to throw the body off of him at the feeling of the liquid. He scrambled to his feet, running backwards for a moment before turning around again.

All of the wolves had been following him, chasing him at this point, and he was beginning to feel tired. "Fuck," Tolk exhaled softly, looking over his shoulder. One of the wolves had managed to run alongside him, which Tolk could feel himself needing to simply just stop and let them eat him. How was he going to escape this? Could he escape it?

The wolf that had been running side by side with him and tackled him finally, in which Tolk felt himself fall to the ground, but it was for longer. The wolf had a harsh grip on him, feeling his skin break beneath his clothing. When he fell to the ground, it was from a lower place than he was before. He quickly stabbed the wolf, the wolf yelping in pain and he threw the body to the side. Tolkon grunted, looking down at his leg. Through it was a large stick, attached to a fallen trunk.

Tolk felt his breath slowing, his eyes becoming tired and his body refusing to stay awake. He looked up, seeing the other wolves at the top of the cliff. Blood soaked his clothes by now, deep cuts in his chest due to the previous wolf gripping him so hard as they fell.

"If this is my last, tell the world to fuck off," Tolvon muttered, soon falling unconscious.

Briar

The young male was comfortably lounging in his cottage home. The soft crackling of fire could be heard as he gave a soft yawn and slowly ambled around his home. There was a tired expression on his face as he walked pass his familiar, Nyra , a beautiful melanistic barn own - the owl simply cooing a greeting to him as he gave her a quick chin scratch. He moved to his storage room and grabbed some fruit he had be storing and began munching on it. A short shiver crossed his spine and he grumbled annoyed, he loved winter but it had been exceptionally cold this time round. And so to combat this he went to his room and got a thickly furred coat out along with a warm cotton shirt and cotton pants. He took off his rather sheer gown and put on his shirt and pants. He then proceed to put on warm socks and then his heeled boots. And then finally his coat with gloves and a scarlet scarf and a warm hat. He needed to go into town to get a few items and possibly sell some potions on the black market to earn a few precious pennies.

He covered his face rather well before opening the door. He groaned as he was assaulted by the gust of icy wind, it nearly taking out the fire in his hearth. He grabbed his messenger bag that was on a hook by the door before walking out . He began walking in the way towards town. He was a possibly a couple miles away from his home when the sound of wolves howling caught his ears. That was interesting he thought to himself, but he continued walking , but what caused him to stop was the sound of yelping wolves. He furrowed his brows, had they tussled with a big angry animal or such? They possibly couldn't have found that annoying person that had been tracking him. He resolved to ignore the commotion but it was clear he was getting closer to the source of the commotion. He was mortified when he spotted vermillion drops of blood staining the pure snow, and it seemed to be a mixture of human and wolf blood. That was concerning and so he continued to find that the scuffle had found itself to the well known cliff that was on this side of the forest. However, his face paled as he saw that someone was in the bottom of the cliff. Without thinking he used the wind to gracefully carry him down the cliff side to the poor soul that was down there.

He examined the person. They were in a terrible state. Clothes were shredded and the person has minor and major wounds. He softly patted the face of the person, "Hello, sir? Sir, can you hear me?" He spoke trying to jar the man, and he shook him a few times but nothing. "He's unconscious," he murmured to himself. And he sighed to himself, looks like he was taking in another stray. And he carefully examined the person, noting the weapons and the formerly pristine clothing, but his eyes narrowed at the sight of the Hunter's Sigil. So a Witch Hunter had been following him. He wanted to leave the man to freeze and succumb to his wounds, but he knew in the back of his mind he couldn't do it. Even if his parents told him too. He let out an exasperated sigh as he began his work, he noted the stick stuck between the mans leg and he grimaced at the sight. That looks pretty bad , he thought to himself, and so he took a deep breath before quickly taking the stick out and pushing it away along with the log. The sound of the stick exiting the flesh was mortifying, and before he could think, the blood started gushing and without a second thought he used his scarf to secure the wound for now, and closing his eyes. He used the smal heat he had to cause the patch of snow around them to melt. And once melted, he controlled the water and the droplets began to come together and then spun quickly until a bright flash of light could be seen. He had used the water to make a portal back to his home.

Using telekinesis he lifted the man up along with his items and guided him through the portal, and he walked through the portal himself and once through he closed the portal, and then placed the man on the bed in his spare room. And in the spare room he snapped his fingers and caused the candles to come to life. And he began taking the clothes off the man, he took the tattered shirt off and then the ruined pants leaving the man in what undergarments he had on. Taking the bloodstained clothing he put them in a basket, but hung up his cloak since it was relatively untouched. And he began to deal with the wounds of said man. He used a golden healing potion on the major wound - the one on his leg, while the flesh and blood were gone it would still ache for a while. And he took normal methods of cleaning the gashes and marks on his arms and chest with warm water and cloth. And using a salve on the wounds and wrapped them with gauze.

He began yawning by the time he finished all of that, he noted the sun was beginning to go down - and he huffed annoyed by that. So he quickly dressed the man in a warm shirt and pants and covered him under the blankets (after he had changed the sheets of course) and gave him a comfy pillow. And he placed the mama boots by his bedside and blew out the candles in the room so the man could rest peacefully. Briar yawned again and began stretching- he really lost his entire day for helping a stranger and now he was hungry. So he began to cook rabbit stew, taking out the rabbit meat, leeks, garlic, salt , pepper and paprika along with carrots and potatoes. As he got to cooking the house filled with the delicious aroma and he hummed as he cooked and soon the food was prepared. He covered his cooking pot and snuffed out the flame , after using a ladle to make himself a bowl. And then he grabbed a book and made his way to his sofa. He soon finished eating and then after doing the dishes and locking up the Hunter's weapons he settled on his couch again and opened his book and began reading.

There was something in the air, that even knocked out cold, Tolkon could feel shift. Something wasn't right. While he couldn't see or hear anything, his body could still feel. He could still feel, but he had no way of exactly knowing what was going on around him. Tolkon was not blessed with any sort of powers, but rather a determined attitude, charm, wit, and the ability to defend himself. But he couldn't even defend himself from a fucking tree going into his leg. Before he had passed out, he felt the blood soaking into his clothing, the gashes beneath his shirt and on his chest growing warmer and hotter, stinging as the red liquid poured out of them.

Whatever had happened, it was not good. Tolkon wished that he would go out fighting something more honorable rather than something like wolves. Animals that had no reason to show such aggression but did. Honestly, he admired it - their will to protect what is theirs. They're territorial animals, as Tolkon was, but only mainly of himself. He wasn't one to trust easy, and wasn't the most likable being out there, but he made do with what he had. So far, he had been doing well. Great even.

But now he had been picked up by some random person. How could someone even be out this far? Those woods were known to be quiet and secluded. Most of who were out that far were probably wanderers, possibly messengers for the kingdoms. Whatever it was, as Tolkon awoke, he couldn't seem to put together the fact that someone had actually found him. Why would someone take in a stranger, let alone one they found half dead?

The bigger question was how in the hell did they manage to get him off of that ledge? While Tolkon did in fact hit his head, he still remembers what happened. He grunted softly, looking up at the ceiling for a moment. The building he was in was rather comforting. It was warm and gentle in a way that Tolkon could recall some of his better childhood moments. He was placed in a bed, clearly the place was occupied by someone else as well. Probably the owner. No, definitely the owner.

How far had the owner even traveled? Maybe it was fate or destiny or whatever the hell you wanted to call it when it came to this, but Tolkon couldn't imagine himself ever accepting the help of a random stranger finding him bleeding out. While it was appreciated, most of the time, those who lived this far out were never to be trusted. But maybe this one was different. Tolkon definitely couldn't find himself being anywhere else right now anyways. Unless you counted hunting, but obviously, that wasn't going to happen.

Tolkon's entire body had ached. He had some bruises from the fall, and his biggest concern would be the hole in his leg. Sitting up in the bed, he looked down to see that he had a different shirt and pants on. "What the..." he trailed off. Tolkon huffed softly to himself, gently moving his legs so they touched the hardwood floor beneath him.

After taking a moment to adjust himself, he noticed something... off. His wounds had been tended to, and the hole in his leg was gone. While his leg had ached the most, there was no sign of a wound there, just some bruising and discomfort. Tolkon gave a confused look as he look towards the doorway. He groaned softly as he stood up, first taking note of the setting sun that he could see through the window of the bedroom. How long had Tolkon been out? It was about midday when he had almost died.

This would definitely be a set back to his hunt.

The smell of stew had flooded Tolkon's nostrils, causing him to exhale softly as he made his way out of the room. He noticed that his weapons were gone. His eyes widened at the thought, and while he was sure that the other man hadn't noticed Tolkon awake just yet, he observed him for a moment. There he sat, cooking and reading a book comfortably on his couch. This was definitely whoever the hell this was place, and Tolkon would become rather infuriated with him.

Why would he take his weapons? Tolkon was practically half dead, and now magically healed. Had this stranger been one of the medics from a kingdom? It wasn't often that they lived alone or outside of at least a neighboring village because they were appreciated. Their magic was really the only kind that was accepted in the world. Other magic... not so much. That's exactly why someone like Tolkon - a hunter - existed.

Tolkon cleared his throat, hopefully getting the attention of the other man. He took note of how cozy the cottage was, and while the man had lived alone, Tolkon wondered if someone else had occupied the place as well. There was no way in hell only one person took Tolkon back to wherever he was. Speaking of which, how far away would this take him from the witch he had been hunting? Shit, Tolkon thought. This could set him back even longer than he had been hoping.

"Where's my shit?" Tolkon grunted, groaning slightly as pain surged through his body. By shit he meant his clothes and especially his weapons. Unless he still had his knife, which he didn't even bother to check. When the man didn't respond, Tolkon narrowed his eyes and now stood in front of him. Honestly though, Tolkon didn't even give the other man time to respond. Instead, Tolkon had ripped the book out of his hands, tossing it to the side. He grabbed a hold of the collar of the man's shirt, using all of his power that he had remaining and shoved him into the nearest wall, which rattled.

Holding his forearm against the other man's chest, more towards his throat, Tolkon had went to reach for his knife. Normally it was tucked away in his pants - undergarments, specifically, though it was gone. He looked down for a moment, and his eyes narrowed more on the man. "Where is my shit?" Tolkon demanded through gritted teeth. "And who are you and how did I get here?" He grunted, anticipating either a smart-ass response or for the man to defend himself. He didn't seem much like the fighter type, though.

Briar

The young man was rather engrossed in his book, that he didn't notice the waking of the stranger . Briar was damn well tired and annoyed - he took in a stranger and lost his whole day just by caring for him. Curse Circe for giving him an empathetic heart at times, and he least out a small him as he continued reading. He didn't hear the throat clearing of the other man, and was rather out of tune with the world at the moment. However, what caught his attention was the sound of a foreign voice - and turning his head he saw the stranger coming towards him after asking a question of where was his stuff. And before he could respond he found his book ripped away from him and himself pinned against the wall in his home. In any other situation the person doing this would've been struck by lighting for even daring to be so hostile and rude after his kindness. But this was a Hunter so he couldn't really do that right now unless he wanted dead, even if the guy didn't have his weapons he'd find a way to try and kill him. He gave an annoyed hiss and dug his long nails into the guys arm that was preventing him from speaking. If this guy was gonna make him out to be a bitch - then so be it, he would be a major bitch to him.

His mother didn't raise a bitch. So he may have a pretty face and not be as strong or buff as other guys but he can sure as hell beat someone the fuck up without his powers . By stabbing the guy with his nails it would cause pain - and in that instant he used it to slip from the man's grip and using his leg , he delivered a swift sweeping kick and knocked the later down, and then he ended up straddling the guy, and taking the guys arms he pinned them above said guys head on the ground. A stern and annoyed expression was on his face, and his face was flushed red whether it be from being flustered from being pinned to a wall or being annoyed by this ungrateful man - he would never know. However , when his skin had the faint redness on it one could see the freckles that littered his skin much better and saw how it adds to his beauty.

"Listen here , asshole." He said - his grip tightening on the guys arms firmly, and his face close to the other man's- he didn't realize it but his lips barely brushed the Hunter below him as he ranted, "You don't get to get saved from immediate death and then ruff up your savior. You were at the bottom of a cliff, and I so happened to be making my way to town to run a few errands that I came up on you. It was a struggle getting you back here. I lost my whole day helping your ass you, so you should be grateful, not waking up being aggressive and shit."
His hair was probably brushing against the other man as he ranted. A faint lavander scent coming from it. Briar's golden eyes gave the man a glare before deeply sighing and releasing the guy from his grip and folding his arms in a menacing manner, still not aware of the rather adventageous position he was in on top of the man.

"The name is Briar. I am a medic who lives alone out here. " It was a lie, from time to time he did help with his magical potions in foreign lands, but as of late he had been laying low. " Your stuff is locked away in a safe place. As for your clothes , your cloak was hung up by your bedside and your shirt and pants were torn to shreds and bloodied so they were promptly burned. You were out for about the whole day. Now can I trust you not to man handle me in my house, buster? " he said giving another sharp glare and then standing up. He then used his strength to help the other man up and let him sit on the couch.

He huffed saying, "Now, what the hell were you doing out here. This side of the woods is prone to terrible blizzards and you nearly got caught in one! " he reprimanded in an annoyed tone as he went to his cooking pot and fixed a bowl of stew and grabbed some fresh baked bread for the man, and grabbing a spoon. He gave the man the food before continuing his rant, "Now who are you, and what's your name since you asked mine. And don't give me bullshit, you could've messed up my wall with your roughness." He gave a small pout at the last sentence.

And dramatically he plopped into an empty chair, "I'm too tired for this shit." He mumbled rubbing his eyes.

If the man hadn't taken Tolkon's weapons, let alone his knife, he would in fact probably be dead by now. Tolkon was never hesitant to kill, even though this one would've been pointless. Granted there could've been some sort of reason behind this, but this stranger didn't have one. Why waste your time taking in a half-dead man? Tolkon had already wished for the world to simply let him go - it would've been easier that way. Not like he'd be missed anyway. Sure, he had a great name in the Academy, but outside of it, he was nothing but simply another aimless soul, wandering alone without a thought in the world. Someone who didn't mean anything.

There was a stinging in his arm, and while he strained through gritted teeth, Tolkon eventually loosened his grip on the other man. His first concern was how in the hell did he keep his nails long enough to quite literally stab someone with them? And second of all, how was Tolkon getting overpowered by a man who was roughly an entire foot shorter than him? Tolkon honestly couldn't believe this was happening, but here he was, and honestly, the outcome had made him plaster a smirk on his charming face.

The man had straddled Tolkon, the two now on the floor and the other man holding power over Tolkon. He adjusted his hips slightly, looking down towards his own feet. Tolkon had looked back up again to see the man basically brush his lips against his own, in which Tolkon cocked his head. How intimate, Tolkon thought silently. To him, this was simply entertainment. He didn't have the balls to actually kill Tolkon. He had already helped him, wasting away an entire day to foster him back to health as much as he could in the time frame. Tolkon, feeling the warmth of the man's words, had the sudden urge to connect their lips, which would definitely take him back and make him rethink all of his answers and words. But instead, Tolkon had simply brought his hand up to the other man's thigh, running his hand up it. He started towards his knee, and although restrained due to the man's grasp, he had raised his head, leaning towards him. "Nobody asked you to be my savior," Tolkon whispered in a rather charming and flirtatious manner, though it was sincere.

Genuinely, not a single soul had asked this man to help Tolkon. Perhaps there was a reason, but why would Tolkon know that? He couldn't read minds even if he wanted to. Some were gifted with that, though that's exactly what he hunted. Mainly witches, however. Any sort of magic in this world was simply forbidden, and there were many people like Tolkon who specialized in hunting one sort of species. But witches were the main cause of the problem. They could be the biggest pests, Tolkon always said.

"Did you at least get what you wanted from town? I really hope I wasn't much of a burden for you to bring home and not expect him to be at least a little upset. If there was nothing to worry about, why'd you hide my shit? Riddle me that one, boy," Tolkon shot back. Those words were laced with a harsh tone and a venom so poisonous that anyone not involved in the conversation would want to turn an ear away.

Tolkon took in the scent of lavender, feeling the man's longer hair brush against his face as he leaned above him. Tolkon gave a shit-eating grin, one that was mischievous. This was simply amusing to him at this point. He cocked a brow, his hand still on the man's thigh. As he rose though, Tolkon simply glided his hand down his leg, allowing him to release his grip. Tolkon looked up at him.

"Well, Briar," Tolkon began, returning the same cold glare. "It's quite rude to take someone's shit. Especially their clothes. You know, I wouldn't take you for the type to undress an unconscious man," Tolkon joked, laughing at his own comment. "Seems like I'd be standing corrected, though," he added. He stood up when offered the hand of Briar, situating himself on the couch. "Depends on if you want to trust me," Tolkon huffed, sighing softly and looking at the man.

"Why? A man can't wander in the woods as far out as he wants?" Tolkon asked, leaning forward slightly on the couch as he looked at him. "These lands aren't owned," he then added. "Which means I can do as I please out here. Now what the hell were you doing picking up a stranger?" Tolkon continued on, basically asking the same question.

Tolkon watched him, taking the warm food and spoon in his hand. He smiled softly. "Thanks," he said quietly, though probably still audible. "My name's Tolkon," he replied.

Before taking a bite, Tolkon gave another smile. "Me and you can rough up that wall if you'd just ask nicely," he said, then beginning to eat.

"Oh but you're not too tired to dig your nails into me?" Tolkon said sarcastically.

Briar

Briar dealing with this man - expecting a full on scuffle with him. However he was perplexed to find a smug smirk on the man's face for some reason. And he had frowned a bit trying to realize why. Then he realized the very compromising position that had been in. And the man seemed to had enjoyed it as it didn't stop him from placing a hand on his thigh. That move had caused Briar ears to burn red, when was the last time a person had touched him so intimately - hell, when was the last time he brought a guy home or had fun. Get your mind out of the gutter , damnit , he thought to himself .

"And no. I didn't. I didn't want to risk you waking up alone in my house. It takes me a couple days to journey to town anyways, so this is just a mild inconvenience." He deadpanned, but then snark ran through his next words, "if you picked up a stranger from near death and they had weapons on them would you not lock the weapons up for fear of them killing you in your sleep or it being some sick strategy to get to you? " he muttered the last words under his breath, "I may be empathetic but I'm not stupid.." and he rolled his eyes at the male Howver when the words turned venomous he bit right back, "Don't you boy me, asshole. I may not be as well built like fuckin' tank like you - but I can still hold my own." One could see a underlying fierceness within those golden eyes of his if they looked closer, and if they didn't they'd very soon find out about it if they managed to piss him off or screw him over. And that was a promise.

He then looked down again to see a shit eating grin on his face. What made it worse was how attractive the man under him was. Not to mention the tossoled hair plus the smirk did things to him. Why did he suddenly get butterflies, and he could feel himself growing redder by the second. And then he could feel a flower starting to grow near the bun of his hair. Shit.Shit.Shit. He was panicking, this was a Witch Hunter and flowers sprouting from someone's hair when they were flustered was not something human. But it was fortunate for him the said flower could not be seen. If he saw what flower it was he would've been screaming even more, it was a pretty swirly pink - ranunculus flower that meant "I Am Dazzled By Your Charms."

After helping the guy up, the man continued to snark him. And he had to give a slight annoyed huff at that, "If I was half-dead and someone found me I would at least want them to have the decency to throw away my rags. Not to mention your clothes were beyond me being able to repair them with a needle - otherwise I would've rather done that than give you my extra clothing.." and he gave a small sigh at the next few words, "yeah, I do want to trust you. But I get your skepticism as well, so no hard feelings I guess." And he gave a simple shrug.

"Why would you want to wonder the woods alone unless you're hunting some sort of game." He retorted sassily placing his hand on his hips, "I mean the wolves should be hunting the caribou and elk that roam these parts. Wolves are naturally shy creatures so them attacking people is rather low , unless you were near their den. And even then any person could tell the weather wasn't right for a hunt and you should take shelter."

And he gave a mock gasp at him saying the lands weren't owned, "True, but that still doesn't make sense for you to be all the way out here. The next Kingdom is miles out if that's where you're headed." He said lazily as ambled around making the strangers bowl , " it'll probably be a day or two before what little roads or pathways in these woods clear up before you'll be able to go out. And me picking up strangers, I'm too empathetic for my own good - I was tempted to let you freeze but I wouldn't want anyone to do that to me to I took pity and brought you here."

The young man had made himself some tea to warm himself up, and he sat curled up in his chair watching the other guy eat. And he gave a soft smile at the man saying thank you.

"Tolkon, that's a nice name." He said rather politely.

Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all. The stranger seemed to be changing his tune a bit, and he was how do you say attractive as well. He sipped his drink, and he nearly choked at the words that came from the man's mouth. Damn, was he being flirted with? Was that allowed? How dare he be so smooth? He had to blink his eyes a good few times to recover from that comment, but he could play the game as well.

Game on.

"Hm, we'll have to see about that. " he replied back his tone of voice silky and a bit airy, and he unconsciously slid down in his seat and lay his legs over the armrest of the chair he was in, " Treat me better and I might consider it. Mmmm, maybe throw in a dinner and I'll see what I can do. " He said giving the male a smile. "And besides I'm a bit more... demanding."

He had to giggle at the man mentioning his nails. A mischievous grin crossed his face, before he spoke, "Aw, I didn't think a little pain would turn you away from me." He said mock pouting , "besides.." he says flexing his pretty nails, "they have other useful purposes ..." he let the statement linger for a moment before taking a sip of his tea and purposely eyeing the man for his response.

Tolkon could see how red the man would get. He smirked at the idea. An easy one, he thought to himself. Tolkon had huffed softly, pursing his lips for a moment before glancing up at the man from his lap, which was where his bowl sat comfortably in his hands. Tolkon then cocked a dark brow towards the other man, awaiting some sort of response that would then trigger another smirk to be painted on his face. Only this time, he allowed his teeth to show, his smile even wider before.

"For such a mild inconvenience, you sure seem intrigued. I mean hell, you could've left me to die, but you didn't. Granted, you probably should've. Would've saved you from me threatening your life, pinning you against that wall," Tolkon hummed softly before continuing, "and some time to get to town. Honestly, if I were here all alone, I would've just left. Be out of your... hair," Tolkon finished, shifting his weight in the couch and readjusting slightly before he shrugged. "But I mean hey, whatever floats your boat, right?"

"If I had a stranger in my house, I'd let them take me on. I'm a territorial being, not someone who's here to save people," Tolkon responded, giving a side-eyed glance towards the man next to him as he slurped the warm stew, chewing bits that needed to be chewed and then swallowing. Tolkon laughed at the man's next remark. "I can boy you all I fuckin' want," he teased, scoffing slightly. "And if you can hold your own, is that why you turned red a second ago? That really says something," he raised his eyebrows as he held eye contact for a moment. Tolkon was simply amused at this point if he were being honest.

"Throw away my rags, blah, blah, blah," Tolkon trailed off. "What if those were my beloved clothes? Maybe ones my mother hand-sewed for me? Or ones that my grandmother so kindly gifted me?" Tolkon asked. At this point, he was just trying to test the limits of this man. To him, it was just free entertainment. What could go wrong with that? Tolkon scoffed. "Oh, you wanna trust me? Maybe you can start by giving me my knife," he said the last few words through slighted gritted teeth. He wasn't asking for much - just his knife. None of his other weapons. That was it. A simple comfort thing.

"Oh, you're gonna tell me how wolves work, wolf-whisperer?" Tolkon teased, leaning in slightly at his playful insult. Tolkon gave a slight shrug, noticing he had avoided the part of what he was doing out there. To be fair, it looked suspicious. "For all you know, you could've just taken in a wanted criminal. A criminal against the Crown, imagine that? Ooo, or maybe some sort of fuckin' wizard," Tolkon continued, amusement in his voice though he was simply being playful. "Why I was out there is none of your business, alright? All I'll say is that I was out here for someone." Tolkon had shifted yet again, his tone more sincere this time so Briar knew he was being serious this go-around. Even if he couldn't read the room before, Tolkon's tone would definitely allow him to do that now.

"I think it's funny you assume I belong in a kingdom," Tolkon said softly. "I mean, given my rags, as you called them, you don't really think I'd belong anywhere near a kingdom, do you?" Tolkon had asked. That's when he realized - the sigil. Shit! Had Briar known what that meant? What it was? Tolkon kept his questions to himself, and would only allow the man to speak as he pleased rather than trying to force anything out of him... Eh, at least for now. Sooner or later Tolkon would probably subconsciously interrogate the man. "You should've just let me freeze."

To be fair, when a Hunter was about to die, they always made their final wish. But instead, fate, or destiny, or whatever you wanted to call it, had brought this man to Tolkon to save him. In a way, that was poetic, but it wasn't like anyone would really miss Tolkon to begin with. Sure, the Academy would be losing a great Hunter, but that was depending on whether or not his reputation still supported him. Tolkon sighed softly, continuing to eat before the silence broke of the man complementing his name.

Tolkon smirked, a million responses running through his head. But the one that came out would definitely be surprising. "Really? I bet it'd sound better if you were saying it when you were beneath me in a nice, warm, comfortable bed," Tolkon said softly, his voice low and gruff and filled with lust. Granted, he was joking - he would never do something like that with a stranger, but what was flirting going to hurt? Nobody. Briar had already gotten red cause of it, so he must've been doing something right.

"A bit more demanding?" Tolkon raised a brow, thinking for a moment. He then nodded with a click of his tongue, looking at the man in the eye. "A dinner? Aha, is that not what this is? What something like this normally leads to?" Tolkon hummed softly. "I mean, consider it what you want, but I think this is a nice date," he shrugged playfully and then looking away for a moment, taking a bite of the food and then looking back at Briar.

"Tell me, stranger," Tolkon had said stranger at the realization that he still had yet to introduce himself, "would you like to show me those purposes?" He smirked, though there was a light red tint to his face that could really only be seen if you looked close enough, but because Tolkon had leaned forwards towards the other man, it was probably obvious to him.

Briar

Briar had to give an offended huff from his seat and his cheeks puffed out a bit in annoyance like they usually did when he was annoyed by someone or about to reply with something snarky. "Okay, sue me. You live in the woods alone, and you're on the way to the town when you hear wolves yelping and then next thing you know you're seeing blood. Of course I was intrigued , it's not everyday some random guy survives getting mauled by wolves and then falling off a cliff." He felt his cheeks heat up but not redden at the mention of being pinned , "That was uncalled for though , but I guess I give you a pass since you woke up in a forgone place. " He adjusted his seat and tilted in head in surprise and raised a dark colored brow, "You would've left if you woke up in house all alone? " he sounded rather skeptical, "please, as if I'd believe that. Most people would either rob the joint or lurk for the owner to come back before murdering them and I wasn't having either scenerio. And I know it sounds paranoid but people are freakin' crazy at times, I remember I had a creepy neighbor once, he thought it was appropriate to lay dead sheep around my house as a form of greeting and welcoming me. It was creepy as fuck and I firmly believe he broke into my house at least twice, but I could never get the proof. Still gives me chills to this day." And he gave a small shiver at the memory.

"Let the stranger fight you? In your own house? What is this a survival of the fittest type shit. That's absurd . " he gave a slight ey narrow at the mention of him being territorial, it was so quick one would have had to be studying him intently to notice it, "Oh boo-hoo I bruised your big man ego by saving you. And I don't just go around saving folks just so you know," but his nose crinkled a bit, if one knew him that would indicate he's telling a half-lie. It was true he didn't go around saving random people, he saved people from different Kingdoms as he could and sometimes he chose not to help or he couldn't help. And at the mention of him getting red he gave a really loud dramatic gasp, "All right tree bark. So what I got red, nothings wrong with that. At least I can appreciate what's in front of me." He said in an offended tone. The man was handsome and he wasn't gonna act like he wasn't or that his flirty comments didn't get to him because they sure as hell did. And he gave a sassy flip of his hair to emphasize his point.

He then gave the most horrified expression one could give at the mention of his clothing, " I am assuming your mother and grandmother did not give your that horribly stiff and sheer shirt to wear out in winter weather not to mention the poor quality materials it was made of - laughable. The only quality items you had on were those boots and that cape. Why would you even wear such clothing in this type of weather it's dangerous." He would probably end up ranting about how the designer of the clothes needed to be struck down but of course he couldn't say that out loud, but he gave a rather pensive expression when he mentioned just having his knife. It wasn't that much of a request, and if he was in a strange house he'd like to have a weapon to defend himself if he needed to as well. He got up and went to the locked chest where the weapons were and found the knife and took it out but not before locking the rest of the weapons up and putting the key away. He placed the knife on the table for the man to get as a silent answer to his request.

Now it was his turn to pout a bit, "Hey, if you live in the woods you gotta know these things. How else am I going to survive if I don't know the behaviors of the animals out here. It keeps me safe and I like being safe. He rollled his eyes at the mention of him possibly being a wanted thief, "Oh really then master thief. I have no alliance to the Crown so that's none of my business. I saw nothing, and I say nothing." He replied coolly but he sort of stiffened at the mention of wizards, "what's so bad about wizards?" He said with a innocent tone, he honestly wanted to know what was so fucking bad about them that humans decided to hunt them for sport, "if you were a wizard I'd take you in the same. My home is a safe spot for anyone ." He said with a slight edge to his voice but he managed to take it out. And he stirred his tea while looking at the male, but he blinked in surprise when the man mentioned he was looking for someone. A slight frown appearing and then it dawned on Briar, he meant him - after all he was the only witch in these woods (that he knew of at least.)

"Looking for someone?" He said with a raised brow, "sounds rather exciting I guess. I hope you find what you're looking for once you're healed and rested up of course."

He was surprise when the man gave a softer tone and mentioned how he called his clothes rags, " Hey, the only reason I called them rags was they were torn to bits . My guy, you fought of wolves and fell off a cliff and then a branch impaled your leg. Had to use my best scarf to keep your blood from just spilling. It was quite scary honestly." But then he gave the man a soft yet stern expression when he mentioned that he should've just let him stay there. He gave a soft sigh before putting his tea down and taking the moment to slap the guy upside his head.

"Done moping? Good because right now you're gonna wipe that attitude out of your head. I don't know what you've gone through to make you feel like your life is so meaningless or that you don't even deserve a bit of kindness but that changes right now. I'm only gonna say this once and I'm not repeating it: You sir are a bad bitch, not many could survive wolves or a cliff fall with the grace and dignity you did. " and he poked his chest for affirmation, "you are worth it. You are handsome, all the girls and guys must fall at your feet. You most likely are talented in some sort of way, I really don't know. But lastly, fuck those pretentious assholes who made you fell like you're easily replaceable, you're not, got it. Now I don't want to hear you talking about dying again unless you want me to slap some more sense into you." He said with a firm fierceness that dared the man to argue with him on this and his golden eyes blazed with a fury at whoever his handler, bosses, or whatever the fuck he called them and how the treated Tolkon.

He was so enraptured in his thoughts when the guest he had turned flirty again. But this time he pulled out all the stops, the voice and the intentions behind his words. He could feel his cheeks burning again, and under the light one could see his freckles better on his skin. Briar had to chew the inside of his cheek a bit, he really didn't know how to respond to the male but he definitely wasn't opposed to what he had suggested.

" Maybe.." he said said regaining his composure, " I wouldn't be opposed to testing that theory." He said with a silky tone and a bit of a flirtatious grin.

"Oh haha. Well I guess you could call this a dinner." He said thinking about it with a mock serious face, and he gave a playful coo saying, "Oh my. Getting soft on me now, are we." He said with a playful snicker.

But he was shocked to find the male leaning forward with such a flirtatious speech. And he had to give a coy giggle before placing a painted finger on his lips, "Down boy" he said with an uncommonly silky and sultry tone of his own, "It seems someone is eager. Maybe you'll find out once you're better, after all you don't need me jacking up your back more than it has be, do we, now?" And he gave the male a flirtatious smirk of his own before moving his finger and tapping his nose gently, "You're cute when you're red." And he gave a mischievous giggle as he got up to go fix the hearth since the firewood was running low.

"Oh, and the name's Briar. My apologies for telling it to you sooner, my lord." He said with a playful tone and mock bow. He then proceed to bend over to grab three pieces of fire wood. And then crouch in the vicinity of Tolkon's view. And he placed the wood in and messed around with it for a few minutes before the fire was back to normal again. If Tolkon hadn't been paying attention before then this should've given him a chance to appreciate the beauty and rather alluring figure of his host.

Briar yawned and stretched a bit , "I'm gonna draw my self a bath and get washed up. Once I get done Ill come check on your bandages it should be time to change them out. And the guest room is yours, and there and spare sheets and extra blankets and towels for your use. And also the restroom in there is also for your use. Did you need anything else before I came back?"

"You see a man getting mauled by wolves? You let the fucker die," Tolkon responded. He then shrugged, clicking his tongue before looking back at Briar. "That's what God would intend, right? Destiny and all of that shit," he added, shifting his weight on the couch before letting out a slight huff. He bit his lower lip, trying to restrain himself from simply letting lose on this man. "Yeah, I would've left. You know, I'm many things, but a thief is not one of them. I would much rather be out there than in here, if I'm being honest." Tolkon then gave a slight confused look at the mention of dead sheep and a welcoming. "You sure the man wasn't trying to use you for a ritual?" Tolkon joked, letting out a gentle laugh before shaking his head.

"A man proves what he owns, you know," Tolkon responded. "You fight for what's yours. It's common sense. Just like how people fight wars for their country, men fight others for what they own. So yes, I would fight a stranger in my own house just to prove that point." Tolkon hummed softly, enjoying the stew some more before he returned his attention back to Briar. He raised an eyebrow towards him. "Then why save me if you don't just go around saving people? I'm not special, I can tell you that much, regardless of what you think." Tolkon had managed to scoot only the slightest bit closer to Briar, though this wasn't exactly on purpose. He huffed softly. Tolkon scoffed. "You appreciate what's in front of you by saving them... Isn't that something called a savior complex? I mean, I am at least half-decent looking but you have no reason," Tolkon scolded sarcastically before letting out a soft chuckle. But because of Briar practically stroking Tolkon's ego, there was a slight redness in his cheeks that made his face appear a bit more round, lighting up his cheeks that would normally be rather stern as his eyes would normally be cold. But right now, they were bright and his cheeks were soft. Briar had done... something to him.

The expression that Briar gave Tolkon regarding clothing only made Tolkon chuckle, but this time it seemed to be uncontrollable. For some reason, it simply set him off, though it was quite entertaining and Tolkon couldn't help but inhale sharply as though he had run out of air to breathe. "No - they didn't. Why the fuck would I know that? It's called sarcasm, mister, and maybe if you had a decent sense of humor you'd know," Tolkon responded, calming down now. "It's all a poor pawn like me can afford," Tolkon joked, scoffing slightly. There was no true meaning to why he had still been talking to Briar, but in all honesty, the company was nice. Meaningful, in a way. Whatever that meant nowadays.

When Briar moved to get Tolkon's beloved knife, his baby as he would call it, Tolkon couldn't help but give a small smile. Although no words were spoken, it was obvious that he was greatful. Of course it was simply the bare minimum, but even Briar allowing that meant that he at least felt semi-comfortable with the stranger - Tolkon - sitting on his couch, eating his food, taking up his resources. Speaking of, why had Briar been so giving? Tolkon didn't question it as he appreciated it, though it did go against the Hunter's code. If you're bound to die, you simply let go, you do not wish for a happy ending. Gives it more 'meaning', as they would say. But perhaps destiny would change Tolkon's thoughts on the whole shebang. Tolkon grabbed the knife, holding it silently in his hand, beginning to twist it. His finger traced the silver blade, almost as if he were admiring the work of the blacksmith that so happily made the weapon. Tolkon couldn't help but plaster the tiniest grin on his face before looking at Briar yet again.

Tolkon shook his head. "Safety is boring," he stated. While being safe was a good thing, Tolkon, even in his younger years, found this fine balance between freedom and safety. A sort of recklessness, really, and it brough comfort to him. In his line of work, safety was important, but also knowing when to do something when you probably shouldn't. However, that was simply always Tolkon's way of living. He was always the one to break the rules. The troublemaker. The one that would make the teacher question why they're teaching. Regardless, Tolkon couldn't help but simply take note of how well Briar understood safety. Living in the woods with predators such as wolves, but even those like Tolkon - a hunter, thirsty for his kill - who would grow more and more hungry by the second. This game of cat and mouse was growing rather... petty. Not even cat and mouse, but simply, they both knew deep down who each other were.

But minds could change, right?

Tolkon saw how stiff Briar was at the mention of wizards. "The Crown you speak so highly of don't like 'em," Tolkon began, shifting his weight slightly. He looked Briar up and down, eyeing him for a moment, taking the knife into one hand and setting his bowl of food onto the table. "I'm not sure if you've noticed, but magic nowadays isn't exactly accepted," Tolkon clicked his tongue. While he had no mention that he was a hunter, though that sigil was obvious on his clothing, Tolkon was unsure as to why Briar would grow so stiff at the mention of it. "Would you happen to know anything about it?" Tolkon then asked, cocking an eyebrow.
"I appreciate it, but I can tell you that once I'm healed and well, I don't think I'll exactly have to look so hard anymore." He squinted slightly, the suspicion growing more and more by the second. Even if Briar was a wizard, Tolkon was not in the state to be fighting. He was sore, bruised, and honestly, quite tired. Sleep sounded comforting.

"Was it worth staining your scarf with the blood of a dead man?" Tolkon asked, slightly shifting his weight on the couch. He still held the knife, though his grip wasn't as tight as it was before. He realized this, gripping it harshly, his knuckles slightly turning white. Briar posed no threat, and even if he dead, Tolkon could assume that it would be an easy fight. But not in this condition. Not now. Tolkon silently wished not ever.

Tolkon felt the heat of the slap. "Hey," he grumbled, his grip especially tight on the knife now. He glared harshly at Briar, narrowing his eyes before rubbing the spot on his head. Maybe fighting him on Tolkon's good days wouldn't be a good idea, he thought and then gave a rather ill look towards the other man. He was definitely getting his point across, and Tolkon couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. While Briar was trying to be uplifting, all Tolkon could think about was proving his point. When Briar had touched his chest, Tolkon grabbed his wrist with his free hand. "The right ones never fall for me," he smirked flirtatiously. But he wasn't lying. Past relationships had always failed, and not cause of Tolkon. Or was that simply his ego talking? Regardless, he let go of Briar's wrist, holding strong eye contact.

Tolkon couldn't help but smile when he saw Briar's cheeks flush with a red, making him look like a tomato. His eyes lit up at this sight in a way that they hadn't before. Briar was easy, but not in that sort of way. This could go somewhere, Tolkon thought, and managed to slightly lean forward towards the other man -- beautiful man -- may he add, and licked his lips, slightly cocking his head to one side and holding his gaze. "I don't think I'd mind testing it either," Tolkon said, his tone rather low and slightly seductive.

Tolkon laughed. "You know what isn't soft..." His voice trailed off, and he scoffed at his slightly immature joke. His eyes met Briar's yet again, and as he leaned in more, he felt Briar's finger meet his own lips.

"A dragon never bows to a sheep," Tolkon said, looking up at Briar. That meant a lot of things - one, Tolkon was not going to submit to this stranger. Two, Tolkon still wasn't aware of Briar's full intentions. Good or bad, overwhelming or underwhelming - whatever it was, Tolkon was excited to see it. "I may be eager, but you're the one speaking of breaking an injured man's back. So I think, truly, we could start with something more... simple," Tolkon said, his own face growing red. But that was simply because of the thoughts growing in the back of his mind, though Briar's words did probably play a part into that.

However, Tolkon missed his chance. "Briar," he noted aloud. He smiled, watching the man grab the wood. "I like the show," he said, looking him up and down, appreciating what he saw. Savoring it in a way. He had turned his body to be more open, his legs apart and his arms resting on the back of the couch.

Tolkon raised his eyebrows at the mention of a bath. "I wouldn't mind joining you, I can tell you that," Tolkon said, though there was sarcasm in his tone. However, the feeling of warmth wouldn't bother him too much, so even if Briar couldn't read his tone, he would be able to appreciate that Briar even considered letting the stranger join. Tolkon scoffed at the thought. "I think I'm good, kind sir," Tolkon said, "unless you perhaps wanted something?"
