Life of the Pride
Now Accepting
It's well known that life for Lion Pride's is not a simple walk in the park. For the Xhumo pride that has proved to be no different. Compared to other prides they are a relatively newer one, only having formed in the past year. They aren't a large pride, put they've proven themselves by carving out a life for themselves in a territory that, at first, wasn't very hospitable.
Now, as a year has passed after forming, the pride is coming up on it's first season for cubs, and it's hopeful that the pride will have new mouths to feed in the coming months. However, as these occurs tensions are bound to run high as it's hierarchy begins to full cement within the males and females.
Of course, tension within isn't the only difficulty the pride will have to over come. Rogue males are a threat to any pride, especially one that is going to have young cubs soon, as well as hyenas and other predators are going to take risks to try and prevent the pride from suceeding further.
Their only hope to survive this next year is to continue to build their bonds and work together as a cohesive pride. However, the greatest challenges are still ahead of them, and the future of the pride is unknown.

The Roleplay Rules
Follow all of Eve's and WP's Rules
1. Please be Active. A Couple of Posts a Week are all I'm expecting from you, but that does mean if I haven't gotten a Post from you in 4+ days I will remove your character. Please be Active in Rp and Discussion.
2. This is a Semi-Literate Rp at Minimum, and will need to be shown in Sign Ups and Rp.
3. Right now lets keep it two 2 Characters per Person, and they cannot be of the same role. This might increase later. I will not include unborn cubs in this count.
4. There are no Orphaned Cubs in the Rp. None have been born in the Pride yet, and they wouldn't take on Orphaned Cubs that aren't theirs.
5. No Godmodding, Pefect Characters, Powerplaying, etc. Also, don't have your character be "That Guy". You know the one.
6. Semi-Realism Appearances Required. I'm okay with Natural Colors like Red, Tan, Grey, Brown, etc. But no Neon or more Unnatural Markings. No Hybrids. And I will Limit Mutations like Albino and Melanistic.
7. Stock Images and Artwork is allowed to be Used, as long as WP's Rules are Followed. Stock has to be F2U and from DA though for my own Sanity though.
8. This is a Limited Spot Rp. So if you don't finish your reservation in 48 Hours the Role will be Opened, and Someone Else could take it.
9. Again this is a Semi-Realistic, hinging closer to Realistic, Rp. So lone lionesses aren't going to be able to beat a full grown male in a fight, nor can they take down things like water buffalo on their own, since most prides struggle to take them down together.
10. In terms of fighting, Your Characters Cannot Dodge Every Hit but Make Every Hit when Fighting. If I notice it Happening, I will Choose the Outcome of the Fight Myself, and it Likely Won't be in Your Favor.

The Pride Rules
1. Any Relations with Outsiders is Forbidden. Cubs fathered by a Rogue male could be killed or abandoned.
2. If any Nonpride Lions or Lionesses are seen, they must be reported to the Dominant Males repeatedly.
3. Pride Cubs, when we have them, are to be protected at all costs.
4. Unsanctioned hunts are not allowed, it could promote overhunting and mess up bigger hunts for later.
5. Right Now Dominant Males Eat First, however, when Females become Pregnant or are Nursing and they're are cubs that could change. |

The Role Explanations
This is pretty straight forward, however, it does differ a bit from my other Rps so I'll take a few moments to explain.
The Xhumo Pride
Dominant Males [2]
These are the two adult males of the Xhumo pride. It has not yet been declared which of the two males are the more dominant, as it's unheard of for two males to be equivalent in hierarchy, it leaves too much room to undermine each other. Eventually one will take the helm and the other will become more of a Secondary Male. However, both are allowed to mate with lionesses either way, but it'll be decided by the end of the cub season either through dominance challenges or by which male the females choose to have cubs with the most. Obviously the males are in charge of patrolling and protecting the pride and territory from all threats.
Pride Lionesses [4]
These are the lionesses within the pride, and I'd be willing to up this number to 5 if needed, but no more. There is currently no Queen or Lead Huntress or any ranks among the Lionesses. However, this is something that will be determined over time. Partially through agreeance and challenges between the lionesses, but also the Dominant Males will have a say. The lionesses are in charge of hunting, feeding the pride, and caring for the cubs. They also act as defenders too when needed, as they are just as invested in their own and their future cubs' safety.
Unborn Cubs [3 Per Lioness]
These are the future, unborn cubs of the Pride. They'll eventually be in it. However, they cannot be your own character in the rp as they won't be used right away.
Nonpride Lions
Rogue Males [3]
These are the prideless males who are often looking to take over or form their own pride. They're all males over the age of 3 years, and they're often a danger to prides as rogue males are often known to challenge pride males and even kill cubs.
Lone Lionesses [3]
These are the Prideless lionesses who, like Rogue males, are often looking to join a pride. They aren't always welcome among prides, though, as it can potentially upset the established hierarchy, and it can take time for the Pride females to trust them. However, they have a higher chance of being able to join than a male. |

At a glance Palesa is often mistaken for a White Lion of the Albino variety, and, well, they would be half right. She does count as a White Lion, however she is a Leucistic Lion instead of an Albino. This means her nose remains dark and her eyes are actually Blue. Her coat also isn't quite as a pale as albino lions, though it is similar. Pal isn't a lioness of more average size, standing at 3.4 feet tall at the shoulder, however, she only weighed at most 260 lbs total. This gives her a rather lean appearance for a lion, though she will bulk out as she ages and matures.
As mentioned, Palesa is a white lion, though her coat isn't exactly white. It's more of a soft cream color, with the fur appearing darker at times over her shoulders and the points of her body. Her coat is the standard length for lions, maybe a bit longer, but she appears to have a thicker, almost fluffy coat that is quite soft and comforting to the touch. She has noteable cheek tufts on her face giving her a dainty and feminine touch to her feline features. Her tail tip is a reddish brown color, much lighter in color than a normal lion's tail tip.

Being an older male in his prime, Mandlenkosi is a large lion, standing at a 4.4 feet tall with a heavy weight of 560 lbs normally, though he's lost a bit since being on his own recently, putting him at 545-550 right now. Since he's only been on his own for a short period of time, the male is still quite bulky and has been capable of bullying other animals from left over kills. The large feline is muscular, with a wide and bulky build. Large paws leave deep indents in the loose soil as he walks, having paws like shovels. He has a set of wide shoulders and a muscular chest, with narrower hips. Kosi's got a large, wide head, which signals his age, and sides that are taut with muscle.
Kosi's coat is not the standard golden, tawny color, instead he is more of a darker tan color with a very obvious hue to it. His underbelly is a lighter, creamy color that covers his belly, the insides of his legs, and up his neck to his chin. His mane is large, definitely something befitting a monarch male. It starts at the top of his head, carrying down his neck, over his shoulders and down his chest before it ends just passed his shoulders and trailing down his belly. It's thick and robust, much like his build in general, the hair lower on it being quite coarse, whereas it's softer around his face. His dense mane offers protection to him from attacks, but it's a bit patchy from a recent fight he had, though it's growing back in. His mane starts off as blonde and darker red brown around his face, before darkening to black as it goes down his neck.
Besides his size and coloration, the one thing that stands out about Mandlenkosi is the sheer amount of scars on his body, both old and new. Having been a former king of a pride, he spent years defending it from other lions and predators that threatened it. There aren't many that are noteable, however, the sheer volume of them is. His entire body is bumpy and rough from scars, but it's the new ones on his body, red hued and puckered with anger, that stand out. The cover his frame, harshly clawed and bitten in over the other scars on his body. There are several claw marks on his sides, hips, and legs, with bite marks following suit around his neck and in his mane. There are several bite marks on his back and hips, and one on his front leg that lets him walk with a limp right now.
Kosi's voice is a deep basso, slightly raspy from age, but still something that can be pleasing when spoken in the right tone. His eyes are a bright, slightly faded, golden color. His scent is something musky but ashy, subtly pleasing but easily indentifiable.

Mandlenkosi is not at all the male he was when he was leading his pride, now he's mostly just a shell of the male he was. Stoic and almost reserved, it's very hard to get a read on the male when encounering him. He doesn't show emotions easily, keeping himself guarded physically and emotionally. It's highly unlikely that anyone, let alone a stranger, could decipher his motives and emotions just by looking at him or even talking to him. It would take time and plenty of careful observation to determine anything about the male. This is partially because he is slow to trust now, but also because he just doesn't care a whole lot anymore.
Unlike younger males or other lion in general, Kosi isn't the type to beat around the bush or hint at things. Instead he does everything and speaks in a very direct manner, sometimes coming off as abrasive or callous because of this. He doesn't sugar coat or anything, however, he tends to be quite reserved, not exactly quiet where he is shy, but he only speaks or communicates when he finds the necessity. He doesn't bother to entertain himself, or others, with frivolous things. His harsher and more critical temperment can cause him to ruffle the fur others, however, it's important to remember he wasn't always this way. He's merely a whisper of who he was, and periodically the image of who he was breathes back into existence before fading once again.
Still, he is a dedicated and loyal subject, someone who whole heartedly supports those he is loyal to completely. Their struggles are his, their problems are his, and their fights are his. That's how it was in his former pride, and that still rings true in the male today. Of course, he has no one now, but if he found someone he bonded with, he'd have their back all of the way, no matter what. Is he a bit gruff? Sure. However, the male is someone you'd want on your side in the toughest of times, as he is resilient and not the type to give up. Which is why he hasn't given up despite losing everything that was important to him.
Now, Kosi is not of superb intelligence, falling in at more average. However, the one thing he truly has going for him is his experience. His years of experience allows him to apply that to his decision making and choices, able to fall back on it when needed. Even so, though, the male is incredibly damaged, inside and out, and is quite wary and cautious of others. This jaded nature does have it's faults, however, because it does make him quite wary, he is more observant to things he might not have been to before. Is he still aggressive and explosive at times? Of course. However, he doesn't just rush into things head first anymore, he takes his time, only rushing in to fight when he finds it necessary.
Overall, realy, he's not at all who he used to be, but when the cards are down, he's someone you'd want on your side.
History:
Kosi has a history that is relatively normal for the most part, at least in the beginning. He was born into his natal pride, before eventually leaving it at shortly after 2 years old. Having been a large lion even at that age, his pride felt it was better for him to leave early, the king viewing him as a potential threat since he was getting on in age. Kosi has no desire to take over, but he left with his dignity nonetheless.
He traveled on his own for about a year or so, but eventually found a pride of lionesses all close to him in age with an elderly male at their helm. He decided to challenge the male, and beat him in contest for the pride, but spared the male's life as chased him off instead. He even went so far as to spare the male's cubs, raising them as best he could like they were own, and eventually fathering his own within the pride.
For years he lead the pride successfully, helping to grow them and let them thrive under his protection. He loved his pride, and they loved him, but, unfortunately, all good things come to an end. After almost four years as the King of his pride, a coalition of younger males drove him out of his territory, nearly killing him in the process. He had fought his hardest, but he was out numbered, and therefore, out done by them. He can only imagine what the males have done to his pride and his cubs, but he isn't in any condition to turn back and try and do something about it. So now, he is merely trying to move on, healing both physically and mentally in the process.
All he desires now, is to be on top again, or, at least, close to it.

She stands at a height of 3.8 feet with a weight of 350 pounds. Most of her height comes from her legs, which appear almost disproportionate with the remainder of her body. They are lengthy and flexible, offering her great speed when needed. Her physique remains on the more lithe side, allowing her to be faster. However, there is muscle spanning around her, so she isn't entirely powerless, simply isn't the strongest out there. Her strengths lie in her agility, speed, and stealth rather than her blows. Despite being on the younger side, Kanoni has her fair share of scars. The lioness has obtained many from various hunts, most recieved from her younger, more inexperienced days. They aren't difficult to espy either. Rather than being hidden, they are fairly visible; a nick on her ear, a healed gash on her side, a missing tooth, and the list goes on. Her overall coat is that of a lighter tan. It has a softer colouring to it compared to others. Her underside consists of a lighter cream to the point where it appears white. It begins beneath her chin and ends at her forelegs. However, depending on the lighting, the lighter cream may be visible, or entirely blend into her overall coat. Her eyes, like her mother's, appear almost topaz. From a distance, they appear more yellow, however, when one looks closer, there are clear signs of bronze in them. Her tone is that of a soft one, while her scent consists of an earthy smell, similar to that of her mother's, but perhaps bolder.

However, there are a few differences between them. For the most part, she is an overall kind and elegant individual, often expressing good manners and is respectful to those that return the favour. It is rare to see her act cruel for no true reason, and is often the voice of reason during difficult situations. Unlike her mother, Kanoni is more social, often seeking out companionship and wishing to converse with others. The female dislikes being alone, and so it isn't uncommon to see her lingering nearby. She doesn't mind remaining silent, so long as she is in the presence of others. Kanoni values companionship and often desires it, thus, it isn't difficult to strike up a conversation with her or befriend her. Rather, she is eager to discuss various topics or offer advice. There is rarely a time where she pushes another away, even when in an unpleasant mood. Overall, she is a welcoming individual. Observant, Kanoni has learned how to watch for certain things by her mother. She has learned to be patient and how to read body language. While not nearly as observant as her mother, Kanoni does manage to pick up on different things by simply glancing around. However, she is known to make a move rather than watch. If there is something she desires to know, she will ask it rather than observe, and attempts to uncover things by using her words. Kanoni is witty and charming, often teasing or pocking fun at others. She often attempts to lighten the mood in difficult scenarios, often remaining optimistic in dark times. Often, she puts others before herself and is known to be on the more selfless side. Stubborn and headstrong, the female seems to have a mind of her own, and is known to voice her ideas. It is difficult for her to listen to others when she believes in something, leading her to make mistakes in the past. However, one way or another, Kanoni learns. Whether it be by making mistakes or not, she figures things out eventually by trial and error. If she is told that something wouldn't work, she doesn't simply stop there. Often, Kanoni tests out the theory for her own knowledge and attempts to tweak things. Given her scars, most times it does not work out in her favour. Like her mother, there are times where the lioness may act.. cold. For instance, there are only so many times that she may forgive another. Kanoni will accept an apology once, twice, three times, but even she has a breaking point. When that point is reached, she is no longer a friend. Rather, she will act cold, disregarding others and ignoring them entirely. She becomes a petty, petty individual, one that holds a grudge for as long as she sees fit. She preaches kindness, but sometimes, acts hypocritical in situations such as those. And oh, if her family is put in danger by another, Kanoni acts merciless and cruel. She is stubborn for a reason, and she would not give up until she is satisfied with her revenge. She is a very passionate creature when it comes to that. Kanoni is kind, but if another takes advantage of her kindness, there is little that will change her opinion of that person.
