Struggle to Survive
Hidden deep with in the forest, finding a home along the base of a mountain, a pack of wolves has carved out a life for themselves. While it may be a mediocre life where they barely scrape by, it is a life no less, and it's more than they had before. At a glance, this pack seems normal, maybe a little raggedy, but no different than any other pack. However, upon a closer inspection, one could find that there is nothing normal about this pack. No, instead, this pack is an assortment of misfits, rejects from other packs chased out in hopes they would die and no longer burden them. These wolves were resilient though, and determined to be more than outcasts.
Some how, over time, they all congregated in an unclaimed area around a mountain, and took it for their own. Hard to reach, and well hidden, the pack is pretty sheltered from the outside world. Few packs dare to venture in that far to try and challenge them, and others just don't view them as a threat, so why not let them have their little bit of territory to live out their days? However, even without the constant threat of other packs, this pack does not have it easy. Instead, they must deal with each individual's flaws, the very reasons they were all driven out of their former packs in the first place. The pack has to learn how to function, even with all these faults, to find the strengths among all the weaknesses. While it is a struggle to survive for many of them, the pack has managed, and is scraping by.
Unfortunately, that little bit of life they have created for themselves is now in jeopardy. Wolves, a small group of healthy, normal wolves, has it's eyes set on their small, but flourishing territory for their own. Since this group of wolves isn't big enough to take on healthier, larger packs, the pack of rejects is the only chance they have at starting their own. Taking over, and driving them out is many of the wolves' goals, but the rejects aren't going to go down with out a fight. They will put their lives on the lines, and risk it all for everything they've created for themselves, because, without it, they are nothing.
Basic Information:
The Omega Mountain Pack, or just the Mountain Pack for short, is a pack created out of a bunch of wolves with some sort of flaw. Whether it be physical, mental, emotional, etc. One way or another, there is something about them that made their former pack reject them. These flaws can be something as simple as just being too small, to something as missing a leg. None of the wolves at Omega Mountain have had it easy, but they've found companionship among each other, and have created a home for themselves. They have a small, but lush territory that is perfect for them, and any other pack that wants to start out. It has several food sources such a Caribou, deer, moose, and elk, and smaller prey too. And plenty of water sources as well as shelter and dens. It's small, but has a lot to offer.
The Nomadic Pack, are the healthy group of wolves intent on taking the Omega Mountain territory for their own. They are all adult wolves in their prime, but because there are so few of them, they don't have the numbers to take on actual healthy packs. However, since they don't have a territory, they currently don't have an actual pack name as pack names are decided by the territory they own, hence them being called the Nomadic pack. Not all the wolves want to harm to Mountain Pack, but they know taking it is a necessity. The Leaders, though, have every intention of running them off, and they'll happily kill them all too.

The Flaw System:
When creating Mountain Pack Wolves, each wolf has a flaw or two that had it driven out from it's former pack. Some flaws are minor, while some are major. Here are some things to keep in mind:
• Wolves can have 1 Major Flaw or up to 3 Minor Flaws Maximum.
There are some circumstances where I may allow for 1 Major and 1 Minor. But Ask first.
• Try to be Unique with Flaws. If you see one that you want has been used a few times, try to make it different/unique or use something else. • Flaws can be Genetic, or Sustained at some point in the life. Like if a wolf was blinded in both eyes during a fight vs a wolf born completely blind. • Flaws can Be Physical, Mental, Emotional, Psychological, anything that hinders them really.

About the Territory
The Omega Mountain Pack have a relatively small territory compared to most wolf territories, amounting to about 15 square miles maximum. It has a variety of vegetation, though most of it is forest. There are a few meadows, and fields spread throughout the forest, the largest meadow actually being a valley at the base of a mountain where much of the pack's prey ventures through. The valley hosts a small river that expands into various small streams that spread across the territory before dying out. There's one other main water source in the western corner of the map, it's a small pond, but it's the only only decent water source in that area, as the river lies in the Eastern area.
The mountain that the pack's territory is known for is massive. It holds various caves for the wolves to retreat to, and the difficult terrain helps deter other wolves who don't know the mountain from attacking. On the other side of the mountain is another patch of forest that makes up much of the valley wedged between the mountains. The river from the other side comes around and waterfalls into a small pool in the smaller valley. This is considered to be the pack's main denning area, they hunker down here when in need of safety and escape, as it is extremely difficult to reach for the uneducated.
The mountain itself is extremely difficult to navigate, making it the pack's biggest advantage when under attack. There are a few paths that lead up the mountain successfully, and a couple that lead around to the valley located behind the mountain. However, unless one has knowledge of the mountain, finding those paths, the corrects ones, is near impossible. Even following the river through the mountains to get to the small waterfall that leads into the valley is difficult. It's not impossible, but it would take a lot of effort and determination.
There are a few other predators that populate the small territory, but they tend to avoid the pack, and leave them be. Coyotes are the only predatory nuisances they deal with, often following the wolves to their kills, and trying to take what they can. They also pose a threat to the young wolves within the pack, especially the pups, so the pack is on constant look out for coyotes when they're out, even more so when at a kill. The pack keeps an eye out for all predators, though, a fresh kill is likely to attract them to the area, putting the weaker wolves at risk.
Prey wise, the small territory is extremely plentiful. While there are only a couple of herds that reside permanently in the expanse of the Mountain Pack's territory, there are several others that travel through it regularly. Accessible prey includes deer, moose, elk, and caribou, the latter being one of the most common. Caribou travel frequently through the territory, and will occasionally camp out as well, and their vast numbers making hunting less daunting. Deer are the easiest to hunt, they're smaller and require less strength to bring down, and there are a couple of small herds in the territory. Elk and Moose frequent the area, one large herd of Elk live right outside the pack's territory, but visit it frequently enough that they're basically residents. The pack will occasionally target them, but there is great risk involved, so they are very careful when doing so. Moose, though, even a single moose on it's own, they won't even try, unless it is injured or dying. They prove to be too dangerous to even attempt to go after. Along with these main food sources, there are smaller options to like hares and squirrels, but they offer little.
Due to the fact that the territory is located so far away from civilization, human encounters are rather rare. About the only time they're ever seen is during hunting season for the prey animals, or the occasional poacher. However, if humans did manage to reach the pack's territory it could be devastating to the pack, as they're not as likely to escape from traps and guns, even healthy wolves struggle with that. Thankfully, because their territory is so hard to reach, and so small, the chances of that occurring are slim, and the pack doesn't worry about it really like other packs might.
The Weather & Seasons
The weather in the territory is kind of wishy washy. Winters are definitely more extreme than summers, which can make life a little tough. Summers are rather moderate, temperatures tend not to rise above the mid-90s, but sometimes they do. Winters, though, are different. They start and end fairly moderately, as expected, but the coldest of months are bitter. Blizzards are frequent, and the snow is thick and high, making walking difficult and even harder on those who already struggle. The temperatures are often low but tolerable by most of the wolves during the day, but regularly fall below zero at night. Sometimes, during the worst of times, the days and nights are even colder. Fall is a pleasant time for the wolves, the temperatures are mild, and enjoyable, same with the spring.
During monsoons the mountains and valleys can be dangerous, because when it rains, it pours. Mud and rock slides are not unheard of, so when it's raining the wolves have to be cautious when in those areas. The small river can flood too, but it's not as dangerous as mudslides from the mountains. Monsoon season for the area tends to be from mid-spring to the beginning of fall, though a few storms close to winter aren't unheard of. It tends to be more humid during the rainy months too. |

Appearance:
Tavarious is a slightly above average specimen, not the largest wolf to ever be seen, but not one to be written off either. He stands at about 33 inches at the shoulder, and weighs around 140 lbs when well fed. His appearance is rather unassuming, not one that comes off innately threatening or intimidating, instead, he comes across exactly as his personality is. Relatively harmless.
Tav has an athletic and lean build, a mix of balanced power. He isn't the strongest male, though he could hold his own if he ever fought, but not the fastest either. His speed and agility is better than this bigger, stronger wolves, but he won't win the races against the smaller swifter canines either. Overall, though, he's a good balance, and someone who does well in most situations, if it doesn't require him to do any significant brutality.
The male is considerably proud of his fur, having a thick and dense coat, though it is on the slightly coarse side. It allows him to stay warm in even the coldest of winters, and, when he sheds, it prevents him from overheating in the warmer temperatures too. He does his best to keep himself well groomed, but the slightly erratic male doesn't always do a good job. He fur is often a bit tufted, and holds debris in it without him really realizing. It was, after all, Selene who helped him keep up his appearance, and he doesn't realize the disarray that his fur has become in her unrealized absence.
His fur is primarily white and light grey in appearance, making up majority of the color of his coat. However, he does have some hints of cream on him as well. They're primarily right be his eyes, and a bit on his flanks and tail too. The only other markings the male has are in black upon his shoulders and back, and his tail.
He has dark amber eyes that are an unusual color. They aren't quite brown or gold, but also aren't red. Instead they lay somewhere in between, though they hedge towards the brown side. His vocals are on the deeper side too, baritone by nature, with a slight husky tone to them. He'd be an attractive male with a good voice if he wasn't a little crazy.
One thing many don't realize until they get closer, though, is that, surprisingly, Tavarious has a plethora of scars littering his figure. They're all masked by his coat and mostly hidden from sight, since none are signficant, but they are there. All of them have been received by his former pack that bullied him consistently, before running him off in an attempt to kill him.
Personality:
Tavarious is not a harsh male. He is a kind and giving soul who enjoys the company of others. However, it's quite apparent there this is something odd about the male, something that's just not... right. He is pleasant to be around, but anyone who isn't familiar with Tavarious and his oddities is often offput by the male's abnormalities. He's perfectly healthy if you ignore the voices that plague his mind, and the hullcinations that he sees, albeit he doesn't realize they are. If you can ignore that, one can find a caring and sweet male beneath, someone who is warm and welcoming towards most and just enjoys existing.
Tavar enjoys life, he enjoys living, and he's a very joyful wolf, a simplistic and innocent glee constantly seems to course through the male. The only time you'll ever see him disgruntled is when he is feeling ashamed of his aberrations or they're giving him a hard time, which they do, quite a bit.
He is a simple male, enjoying everything and anything life has to offer. He doesn't hold grudges, and he doesn't get mad often. More or less, when he is irritated, all anyone will see is likely a small sense of frustration. He isn't a violent fellow either, in fact, he has a hard time with it.That being said, Tavarious is rather skilled in the art of battle. He's had to fight tooth and claw for every breath he's taken since his aberrations become to be. Not everyone is very welcoming to a wolf who regularly hears voices in his head.
The male is a bit on the forgetful side, and often chalks it up to be a symptom of just having a rather full head in general. There's no more space left for anything else to be retained, at least that's what he jokes whenever he forgets something. Tav is an easy going male, the type to go with the flow so long as it isn't putting his life, or anyone else's, in danger. He isn't confrontational or argumentative, in fact, verbal sparring intimidates him, and you'll often find him shutting down a bit when words are thrown at him. He just doesn't handle conflict well, he always had Selene for that.
The personalities of the voices in Tavar's head are rather different from their host. There are four total, all with their own unique personalities and sound.
The first voice, the one who scares him the most is a male of significant brutality. Always whispering about death and malice. It desires nothing more than for bloodshed and pain. It encourages things that Tavar would never find himself doing, and it's the one he struggles the most with. Whenever this voice is speaking, you're likely to find Tavar a bit away from others, out of fear, and in a rather sullen mood. He is terrified of this voice and what he tries and might even make him do one day.
The second voice is that of a female, a complete opposite of the first voice. She's reassuring and benevolent. Whenever the first comes, the second is too far behind. He's rather fond of this one, and regularly will engage in conversation with her if she's present. She helps make him feel secure and encourages him to help others and do good things. She, and Selene, are the onlys one, so far, who help him deal with the voice of the first.
The third is a male, a more neutral voice. He isn't very present nor vocal often, though he always seems to be lingering in the background. He has little to say, but when he does speak, Tavar has a tendency to listen to him, as he is far more rational about things than he could ever be.
The fourth voice, the one he doesn't realize is in his head, is that of his best friend, Selene. Unfortunately, Selene died whilst trying to aid in their escape from their former pack. He's aware that she's dead, and that his brain formed this fourth voice in order to cope with her loss. For him it's easier to pretend like she's not really gone. This voice is exactly like Selene was when she was alive. She helps him keep his sanity, and she makes him feel accepted and loved.
Flaws:
If it wasn't clear by now, there are multiple voices inside of Tavarious' head. It was something that he was likely born with, though it didn't really manifest completely until he was an adult. Was he always an odd pup growing up? Yes, but no one could have predicted this.
While it's unknown exactly what it is, obviously it's some sort of psychosis.

There isn't anything really physically wrong with him, so there is plenty Tavarious can help with, it's more so a question on if he should. He finds doing violent activities makes that first voice more prominent and active.

In the pack it has been made so the pack doesn't really know what the voices in Tavarious' head are. It's been determined that all it might do is cause distrust and worry within the pack if they knew what the voices in his head were like and the things they said. Only the high ranked wolves and a select few are fully informed about them. The rest know he has voices, but that's pretty much it.
Other - Other:
He and his friend, Selene, ran from their former pack. Unfortunately she was killed in the process, though he refuses to even acknowledge it, let alone talk about it. He was picked up by the Alpha Female of the Omega Mountain Pack.

He's Finished, But I'll likely be Revamping him Over Time.

I own this image, and the character, but the art was done by Khalliys on DA.
Crow is a large male, perhaps not the largest to have been seen, but certainly one that is noticeable. He comes in at 34 inches tall at the shoulder, and easily 155 lbs, give or take depending on the day. His coat is thick, a bit coarse, but not so much as to be uncomfortable to those who touch it. The dark slate color has a blue twinge to it that gives it a unique appearance, causing him to stand out even without the varying degree of scarring covering his muscular form. Crow is a rather stocky male, built for power and strength, and not so much speed or agility, especially with his more crippled leg. Do not count him out in a fight, though, Crow has been dealing with that leg for years, and has learned how to cope and maneuver with it. He has varying white on him, like a large patch on his stomach, and a couple of white toes. His rear left leg is heavily scarred, mangled really, and almost in constant pain for him. His eyes are a dark grey color that seemingly match his coat, though his left is milky from being blinded in it a long time ago, a scar running across the left side of his face a testimony to that.
Personality: Crow is a relatively aggressive male, and isn't very friendly to others. He prefers his space and to generally just be left alone, and he can get kind of temperamental when pestered. He is impatiently patient sometimes, showing patience for some, such as pups or those he finds tolerable, and then he can show absolutely no patience for those he views as positively worthless and thus he cannot stand. He's a growly male who tends to just keep everyone and everything at arms length so that they never get passed that cold and rough exterior. Despite his less than social demeanor, Crow is extremely loyal to those he deems worthy, and a fierce and battle ready warrior despite his disadvantages. Basically, in a sense, Crow is like a grumpy old man. Flaw(s): He is Blind in One eye from a Fight; and has a damged Left Back leg from a hunter's trap that Causes him Pain and to limp Frequently. It never healed correctly, so it's considerably weaker now. Skills:
♦ Takedowns - he cannot do long winded chases, but if you need someone to run in for a takedown, he's your wolf.
♦ Strategic Minded - Crow is very adept at the art of warfare, having a mind
♦ Patrols - He's not quite fast enough for scouting, but he can do that too if necessary
♦ Fighting - He's surprisingly skilled as a fighter, having learned to overcome his leg injury.
♦ Enforcing - this is why he's Beta. He's good at enforcing rules, punishments, expectations, etc.

Lykke is not a female who stands out above a crowd. That isn't to say she isn't beautiful, she certainly is in her own way. However, it isn't in the striking or exotic type that pulls someone's attention to her every time. Instead it's more so something that is soft and subtle, something along the lines of it's noticed more and more as others spend time with her and notice more about her. Whereas her beauty is comforting and soothing, rather than eyecatching or in someone's face. However, this subtlty is something that is consistent in Lykke in a multitude of forms.
For one, the female is not of astounding size, either big or small. Instead she's more so average, coming in around 29 to 30 inches in height, depending on the day, with a more average weight of around 110 lbs, give or take a few depending on when she last ate. This makes her a well balanced she-wolf, able to hold her own in most categories without necessarily relying heavily on others. She has a leaner build, though her athleticism is well hidden beneath a fluffier coat. Truthfully, Lykke's build is obviously built for more long winded exercises, like long hunts and distanced running. Endurance and stamina are her fortes, able to go for long periods of time at decent speeds. Of course she's good at sprints too, but she prefers to the slow burn, long paced pursuits. This does, however, mean she isn't quite as much of a powerhouse as heftier wolves are, and could potentially, and likely, be overpowered by a bigger and stronger wolf than herself. Not that she's likely to be found fighting in the first place.
Lykke's coat coloration is unique and not all in the same breath. More so, it's a unique take on a common coat appearance. She's just a lighter version of the more common coat color of wolves, being a medly of colors between cream to a dusty tan. Her base coat is very evidently the cream color, which covers her legs, belly, chest, throat, and the cheeks of her face. Truthfully, it's the most dominant color on her figure. From there she almost ombres to a dusty tan color, with the darkest iterations of it coating her shoulders, and outlining her ears before coming from the side to connect to her eye and arcing up above to create an almost eye lidded affect. Around where these darker markings are multiple lighter tones highlighting them, and softening their appearance so she never appears much darker than a pale tan. Her nose is liver, or a mocha brown, in color. Now, what is unusual and tends to sometimes catch the attention of others is the pale blue of her eyes. They aren't an ice blue in the traditional since, certainly of the same hue, but much to soft and warm to be compared to ice.

(She would never attempt it though) ~ Appearance: Luna is a pure white female with one deep blue eye (Right), and one light gray eye (left) that's fogged over. Luna stands at the average height for female wolves (28 inches), though is a little more on the slender side (60 pounds). Her nose is a dark gray while her paw pads are a brown and gray mix. Her claws are a gray shade, and over her left eye she has a scar. ~ Personality: While Luna is a big dreamer, wanting to be alpha female, she would never outright go for it and fight. If the position was offered, she would take it in a heartbeat. She might seem ambitious in what she wants, but in reality, she would be content just being in a pack and finding a mate to have pups with. Luna does her best to help out others as she can, but she will outright refuse to let a fight happen if she can help it. ~ Flaw(s): She is blind in her left eye. ~ Skills: Stalking Prey Agility (can manuver quite well compaired to SOME others, not all) Hunting ~ Crush: possibly crush on Crow, BUT we will have to see how they interact Mate: None yet Pups: Wants them Other: Luna was born to an Alpha pair, and when she was just under a year old, a rouge attacked her, hating her parents and wanting to kill her. The rouge failed, but in his attempt, he blinded Luna in her left eye, and her parents exiled her, not wanting a half blind wolf to lead their pack. She found Omega Mountain Pack a couple months later, after she turned one and has called it home since. |
