On the plains along the Red River lies a massive herd led by an infamous stallion. They thrive here, and they have for generations. Not many summers ago, a drought took the lives of many herd members, including the previous lead stallion. His two sons, twins, had a massive argument over who would take over leadership. It escalated to a one-on-one battle, and both horses nearly lost their lives. The conquered brother left the herd entirely and disappeared. That is, until now. The brother has returned to the Red River at the head of his own band of stallions and a few mares. His motives are unknown, but tensions are high and the peaceful lands are on the brink of turmoil once again. The dry lands are about to be hit with monsoons and thunderstorms as the drought nears its end, and now everyone is in danger. RP Rules 1. Follow the WolfPlay rules. 2. No overpowered or unrealistic characters. NO purebreds of any kind. 3. Maximum height will be 17 hands unless given express permission. 4. All images MUST be stock and MUST be credited properly. Please note that DeviantArt users such as venomxbaby and colourize-stock require their images to be altered significantly before using. 5. I'd prefer all pictures be from DeviantArt, as I can check the rules for those. 6. Personality and Appearance must be at least 180 words each. 7. RP posts must be at least 200 words per character, or preferably 250+ for high ranks. 8. High ranking players that are not active for five days without notice automatically forfeit their positions. 9. Reservations for high ranks last 48 hours unless stated otherwise. You will not be notified of expiration. 10. If you have any plot ideas or suggestions for the RP in general, feel free to put them in the Other section (this is not required). 11. Please ask players before putting down mates and offspring and the like. 12. Starting 5/19, personalities and appearances must be at least 175 words each. 13. About the Herd The lead stallion is the head of the herd. He makes final decisions, is in charge of protecting the herd members from any threats, and what he says, goes. He does not have to have a set mate. The lead mare is basically a second in command. She deals with herd drama and keeps everyone in line. She does not need to mate solely with the lead stallion and may take a set mate if she so chooses. That stallion will not be exempt to any rules, though. Stallions that remain in the herd after turning three years old have sworn to protect their herdmates and help keep everyone safe. They are allowed to mate within the herd. Mares make up the majority of the herd. They cannot mate with outside stallions and may be punished if that happens. They may wander but must always be in sight, as the plains are full of dangers. They are expected to raise and look after their foals. If any colts of theirs do decide to leave the herd, mares are still allowed contact with them -- if the now-bachelor is under surveillance. Foals and yearlings are perhaps the most protected individuals in the herd, but they also have the least freedoms. The one time they can be far away from the herd is when they are foaled in the first place. After that, they do not leave the protective circle of the herd until they are about two years old. ===== Band Information The band is lead by the lead stallion's brother. He is in charge of a group of mares and stallions, though there are more so of the latter. He has every say on everything unless he chooses to appoint a second in command. Once the Leader rank is filled for the band, a second in command rank may be discussed over PMs with them. |

Name: Stryder Age: 6 Gender: Stallion Role: Herd Rank: Lead Stallion 
Credits for images go to Staycalmpartyon on DA. Stryder is the definition of "tall, dark, and handsome". His limber, well-muscled figure is well-proportioned and defined. He stands at almost eighteen hands, taking after his late father, who was an obnoxiously tall horse as well. Stryder is named for his long, easy lope that makes him appear to be moving in slow motion with reaching strides and fluid actions. His ancestors were Paso Fino and Thoroughbred, though, over time, those genes were significantly dilluted with all the other breeds that make up the American mustang. However, some of these genetic fancies ended up inside Yours Truly. Stryder holds his large head high on a long, muscular neck attached to a barrel-chested body. His hooves are large, providing great balance and surefootedness across uneven terrain, and his legs are sturdy as well. He has a short tail, for what reason he cannot say, and a fairly short mane that, were it any shorter, would potentially stick up in the air as though he'd been electrocuted. His tail has no arch to it whatsoever. When he lifts it, it sticks straight out vertically and goes no higher. His eartips point in towards each other very slightly, and he hosts a minimally dished face. His coat is short and sleek, silver in color, with a black mane, tail, and points. His grulla coloring matches the summer thunderstorms that drive across the plains. Stryder has flared nostrils and an Arabian's shortened back with one less vertebrae than the average horse. He has some scars on his chest and flanks from various fights with bachelors, non-equine predators, and living in a harsh environment. His voice is low and steady, easy to listen to, and hardly ever raised. Personality Stryder is a smart horse. He knows what to do in odd situations, like getting caught in barbed wires, and has evaded almost all predators he's encountered. He joined a bachelor band shortly after being kicked from his original herd, and he has been loyal to these "brothers" ever since. Stryder has always wanted a family of his own, and he is more of a one-mare-stallion. He does not wish for a large herd and is mainly traveling with other stallions for company. Stryder is mature, calm, and quite stubborn. He is logic-oriented and tactical in his approaches to different things, preferring to take the thoughtful and mature approach to issues rather than blow everything out of proportion. His calmer nature can irritate others at times -- especially when trying to get him riled up. When he does happen to lose his temper, Stryder goes ballistic. There is no real inbetween with him: he is either calm and mildly irritated or on the road to Murder Town. He is fiercely loyal to those he is close to and has no problems fighting a little here and there to keep them safe. His sobriety can make him a buzzkill at times, but he means well. Stryder is a ladies' man, but he does not push luck or boundaries and is, in general, quite a chivalrous stallion. When around mares and foals, he is usually careful with his words and actions; Stryder loves foals -- not that he would let anyone know that, of course. He usually keeps to himself but will give direct orders when the need is there. He likes to let his herd members have their say in things and will only get involved with harshness when absolutely necessary. Stryder is curt with those around him and is not one to pick favorites. He loves, yes, but he is not one to show it outwardly. Foals and yearlings will see a fatherly side as well as the stern and snippy one, while older horses are expected to know better and may be met with reprimands at times. Credits for all images go to Alla-equi on DA Noche is an elegant creature, and aptly named. Her sleek pelt is pitch black, as is the rest of her body; the only exception is the tiniest white star on her forehead. Her mane and tail, both medium in length, match the void of her pelt. Even her eyes are deep, liquid pools of night. Bluebird. Her movements are fluid and quiet, and she has a low, lulling voice. Noche has smooth, proportionate features. She stands just under 16 hands and has firm muscling, but she is not noticeably ripped. Her legs are sturdy and strong, as is the rest of her, and she holds a certain elegance to her appearance. A curved neck holds up a refined head with somewhat long, slightly curled ears. Despite her more average size, she often appears larger than she is: her coat seems to suck the light out of everything, and she has a calm, sure demeanor that demands at least a little respect. Five. Her more sober appearance also adds to the effect of a wiser mare older than she is. She was to look and be confident, steady, and level-headed; the way she carries herself certainly promotes that image. Personality While she may appear knowledgeable, Noche is still young and inexperienced, and she owns it. Her wisdom comes from following her elders, obeying commands, and observing outcomes of different situations. Her forte is watching with a calm, collected demeanor. She does not rise up in emotion as easily as other young horses, and she can hold her own in a battle of wits. Noche always dons a smooth expression, any emotion displaying in her eyes. Even then, her emotes are mild. Faint displeasure, for example, or a note of pride. It is extremely difficult to get a raise out of her, as she is quite good at deflecting comments or actions that she finds antagonizing. Despite this more languid base, she is not one to be run over. Her strength is a quiet one but it is there. Noche is the silent bearer of burdens, always ready to help another horse through a hard time, and she will fight to the death to protect those she cares about. She is loyal to her herd, though she may not always agree with decisions made, and she sticks to the rules. Noche will always expect others to do the same and she will take on the role of drill sergeant if need be. She does have an adventurous side to her as well, though it only really comes out around foals, who hold the dearest place in her heart. They are her favorite members of the herd, and she is always willing to play with them. Noche grew up too fast, as her mother died early on in her life and left her to fend for herself; playing around with the foals gives her a glimpse at what could have been, and what she wants for her future offspring. Overall, this mare is wise and mature but lacks the power over others that comes with age. Noche is altruistic and charismatic, but she takes no nonsense and is not afraid to critique others for negative actions. Appearance - The mare is a regular height for her age but has well defined muscle running down her legs and back, her eyes are something that are described as magical and magestic with a light brown colour with dark brown rings around them. She has rather long legs making it easy for her to reach a top speed easily, her frame on the other hand is rather slim. . With such a magestic young female she has a coat to fit her, a beautiful soft and smooth pelt dark grey in colour with patches of white around her frame. Her tail and mane are also a creamy light grey blending into a beautiful jet black, her hoves are also black blending into a bark drown before finally developing into a dark grey to match the rest of her body. . Though she may look like your average mare she can be rather quiet on her feet and agily when running though trees and bushes, her nose has always been a bit small but she uses it like it isn't. Her ears are more pointed then other horses and more far back on her head, flaring and pinning back her ears is always seen as a threat or a simple scared jesture from the female. . . Personality - Two outsiders or newcomers the mare is rather quiet and distant only even speaking to them when she is forced or has to because of a certian situation, normally seen following other mare or stallion that is close to her. When they get to know her better they see a new side a beautiful and intelligent system always making smart designs and ideas but she is still rather keeping to her self and will not fully trust the newcomers untill the prove themselves. . To close friends and family she is an energetic, soft, and happy mare always wanting to lend a helping hove to those who need it the most, making others laugh is something that makes the mare feel wanted and accepted. Though there comes a side of the mare the brings even her close friends fear as she can be very protective about them and will always do what ever it takes to make others pay for what they have done. Mostly the mare is quiet and likes to stay near at least one of her friends, as she hates to be alone. . Both of these descriptions are true about the mares personality and help build the females facts, being protective, kind, and smart are what she really wants to be and show to those around her. As she is not a mare to be messed with, but she will allow other mares to step over her as she is happy at the role she is at.
