————— To Rid of Hunger ————
The year is 2036—fifteen years after the Immortuos Protozoa turned the world upside down. The parasite showed its face on the evening of April 1st, 2021, through the tabloids of all places, its contagious ability to bring the dead back to life quickly making it the most infamous April Fool's joke known to man. With the only requirement to becoming infected being the bodily fluids of an infected individual gaining access to your bloodstream, the parasite managed to plant itself in all corners of the world within a short time period of six months, grotesque... creatures with black blood, soulless eyes, and insatiable hunger running rampant and free. You'd think with all the post-apocalyptic content in the entertainment industry, with everyone on the planet knowing exactly what a zombie was, that the world would be prepared for an undead apocalypse.

No one was. Zombies had lain in fiction and fiction only, after all. Reality suddenly abiding by the products of creativity was... unexpected. Every country, despite all the governments' attempts to calm and control the masses, was devastated. Consumed by fear, societies quickly collapsed, destruction following close behind. It was the survival of the fittest, everyone for themselves—base and simplistic, lives returning to revolve around the three basic needs: food, water, and shelter. Not much else mattered.

But there was hope. Before September, a semblance of tranquility could be found in the form of three safe havens spread across America. They were the government's last-ditch effort to preserve life—erected a year before it all went to shit, military bases were established in select areas and encased in dense, concrete walls. In them were gardens overflowing with fruits and vegetables; animal pens brimming with livestock; pools where fish swam freely; hospitals and laboratories operating as any other would before zombies ruled the world; churches giving out sermons and words of care and joy; men, women, children, everyone allowed to be themselves, to be happy. Albeit... quite... controlling—with your every move watched closely by soldiers carrying lethal weapons, freedom barely existent, and... population control lurking in the shadows—they were still heaven in an anarchical wasteland. Everyone had their place—they were given jobs, their own rooms, their own opportunities. Stepping through the massive gates that protected them from the outside world was like going back in time.

And then... something... happened.

The first safe haven, "Minos", located in Houston, Texas, collapsed, succumbing to a hoard of infected they were unprepared for. Everyone close to the overseer of the second safe haven, "Daedalus", located in San Franciso, California, said that it was a very, very bad idea to let the survivors of Minos through the gates, but the Overseer had grown cocky over the past eleven years of no harm being done to her people. She put too much trust into her scientists and soldiers, into the devices that were supposed to accurately tell whether an individual had the protozoa or was safe, into the walls that were supposed to keep the good in and the bad out. An infected person got through.

It was chaos.

In eerie resemblance to the happenings at the beginning of the world's collapse, Daedalus' people were overcome with fear, the higher-ups failing to keep them under control, and the panic that spread like wildfire provided wider and wider openings for the infected to indulge in their endless hunger. Nearly everyone was gone, had become mere hunks of flesh in corpses' stomachs, within a mere day of Minos' survivors seeking asylum.

But not all would be lost.

In the chaos, the Overseer rushed to a lone person she'd come upon. Quickly, as she had been bitten and would soon become one with those she despised so greatly, she brought them to a room in a building that was forbidden to those who weren't high up the hierarchy—a room that housed a very special teenage girl.

Her name is Sadie, but Daedalus' doctors and scientists who experimented on her never allowed her the privilege of being called such. Instead, they referred to her as "Girl." Girl is unique: once upon a time, she was bitten, and did not turn; she was locked in a never-before-seen state of half-human half-zombie—and her blood, said the Overseer, will save the world. They had found Girl wandering the wastelands, starving and mindless, but capable of speech, and so they captured her, tortured studied her, and had already begun drafting a cure.

Alas.

Before losing herself, the Overseer tasked the person with a mission: bring Girl to Icarus, the third and final safe haven, where the scientists will turn her into a miracle. The Overseer hastily scribbled down a list of traits about Girl to watch out for, how to... manage her, and then gave the person a remote to keep Girl... under control, a rather shitty map, a muzzle, and, of course, Girl. Then, the Overseer promptly shooed them both out of the room. Girl giggled when a gunshot rang out in the hallway.

And thus we are brought to now: a girl who isn't entirely human in a hallway with someone who never asked to be in this situation. She's looking at them, staring in that unnerving way only she will ever be capable of, wondering how they'll make it out of the building, out of Daedalus, out of this hellhole of a city to all the way across the country.

S U M M A R Y

Right after their home is destroyed by mindless, undead cannibals, a rag-tag group of eight is forced to put up with each other for the sake of saving the world. Their primary goal is to bring their invaluable package (Girl), whose blood carries the cure to the parasite that destroyed the world, to one of the last known running laboratories in America—all the way across the country from California to Maine.

They'll have to survive against all odds—cities all but boiling with infected, running low on supplies every step of the way, and a literal cannibalistic psycho child constantly on the verge of succumbing to hunger—to accomplish their mission.

You've been forced to put up with seven others for the sake of saving a zombie-infested world. Your goal? Bring Girl, a psychotic, murderous child immune to the zombie parasite, to the last safe haven, where scientists will use her blood to finally fix your shithole of a life. Good luck.

————— World Lore —————
It's late September of 2036, fifteen years since a parasite known as the Immortuos Protozoa turned the world upside down. The RP is set in a dilapidated America. Without proper upkeep, buildings have begun to decay, concrete crumbling, metal rusting, and Mother Nature reclaiming what belongs to her. Infrastructure has become unstable; the land that once was the slave of humans is now prone to flooding, weathering, and, in general, absolute disaster. The big cities are infested with the undead, from the weak to the strongest on record, but also littered with more than enough supplies for eight people in abandoned stores, supermarkets, and malls. Some roads and bridges are completely totaled. There are plants everywhere plants shouldn't be, wild animals (hell, sometimes even lions from escaped zoos) wandering about, infected wreaking havoc—pretty much everything associated with a zombie apocalypse that's been ongoing for more than a decade.

Blue Lines = Other Highways/Routes
Zones Highlighted in Yellow Are Radioactive
Zones Highlighted in Red Are Three/Third Approximated Territories
Dark Blue Dots Are Areas Where the Safe Havens Stashed Resources
Orange Dots (From Left to Right): Minos, Daedalus, Icarus
States of Darker Shade Have More Infected
The map was given by the Overseer of Daedalus to the Leader.
(c) ASomeonePerson [#233396]
This map will be updated later on to be less of an eyesore.

Daedalus
Considered the second safe haven, Daedalus was 100 acres with a population in the hundreds and encased in a seven-foot-tall concrete wall. The wall still stands strong. It was located near the San Francisco Bay Area, north of Interstate 280. It had four gates that were heavily guarded, made out of pure steel; two were located in the north and two were located in the east—all of which are wide open. It held quite a lot of infrastructure, ranging from apartment buildings, laboratories (one of which was forbidden from the use of anyone who wasn't close to the Overseer), small gardens, quarantine areas, entertainment facilities, and so on. The safe-haven often sent out their soldiers for supply runs, scouting out anything notable, and eliminating any infected that got too close to the walls. Daedalus' overseer was Emilia Polk. Emilia prioritized industrialism; the other two havens often obtained weaponry from her. Daedalus' status can be considered destroyed.

Minos
Considered the first safe haven, Minos was 200 acres with a general population nearing a thousand and encased in an eight-foot tall concrete wall, which currently has breaks in it in the form of six-foot-diameter holes, as if something very large and very strong punched its way in. It was located on the southern border of Houston, Texas, a few miles south of Interstate 10. It had six gates that were heavily guarded, made out of pure steel; two were located in the north, two were in the south, one was in the east, and one was in the west. It held twice the amount of identical types of infrastructure as Daedalus. The "safe haven" inside the walls is completely infested. Minos' overseer was Thomas Liu. Thomas prioritized agriculture in his safe haven; the other two havens often obtained supplies from him. Minos' status can be considered destroyed.

Icarus
Considered the third and now final safe haven, Icarus is approximately 500 acres and has an approximate population in the thousands. It is encased in a ten-foot metal wall. It has one gate, located in the north, and it is extremely, heavily guarded. It is located one mile east of Interstate 95. It has twice as much infrastructure as both Daedalus and Minos combined. Its current overseer is Juniper Olpinesen, who prioritizes science, technology, and medical care; the other two havens often obtained healthcare resources from her. Icarus' current status can be considered... unknown.

— US-20 W —
This is a road that the group will travel on. Of course, they'll have to make detours to nearby cities and towns for supply runs, but they'll come back to seek out this freeway whenever they can.

I-80 E
This is the road that the group will mostly travel on. Again, they'll have to make detours to nearby cities and towns for supply runs, but they'll always try to get back onto this highway whenever possible.

— I-90 E —
This is another road that the group will travel on.

———— T
ypes of Infected ————
[ taken from an informal audio recording by a scientist three years before the destruction of the first two safe havens ]
The Immortuos Protozoa is a protozoan parasite that attacks the nervous system of humans and mammalian animals, first killing the victim with high fevers and then "bringing them back to life." Infected are ranked from 1–3 in order of threat. Infected as a whole are referred to as "infected," "zombies," "walkers," and so on; there is no limit to the names (or "nicknames") given to them. Most names originate from the entertainment industry. Infecteds' appearances and abilities differ between each ranking, but common traits are their insatiable hunger for anything that has flesh and a beating heart, their black veins, their black scleras, and that they died before they started displaying the main, unique symptoms of infection by the Immortuos Protozoa. The older the zombie, the more aggressive it will be, but the easier it is to kill. In general, they can be killed by injuring their brain stems or by depriving them of oxygen. Infected can eat the raw flesh of any species, but typically target their own kind likely for more nutritional value.

— 1 —
The weakest and most common type of infected. They are referred to as "One(s)" or "First(s)." If you are infected by a One/First, you will become a One/First, though there is an off-chance that you will become a Two/Second. The infection has deteriorated their eyes; they're sensitive to light. They also cannot see very well, especially in darkness. They use their impeccable sense of smell to get around; they are unable to put any of their other senses to good use. Thus, they are unable to hear, feel, etc. They are sluggish during the day.
- Appearance -
Ones/Firsts are easily identified by the black veins crisscrossing their pallid, ashen, and pale skin. They are also identified by their eyes: their irises and pupils are completely fine and normal, but their scleras are jet-black.
- Behavior & Abilities -
Ones/Firsts are, of course, always hungry. They possess little intelligence (though they have been known to say a few words, especially the names of those they had an attachment to before they turned) and only care about filling their stomachs. They do not fear death. They have a near-endless amount of energy and can sprint at full speed (which is proportional to their build; the more muscular the infected is, the faster it will be. On average, 20 mph for turned humans) for hours on end when need be. Since they are constantly running on adrenaline, they are stronger and faster than they were before they turned, but they are also less accurate in their attacks. In general, Ones/Firsts are 1.5x to 2x as fast and strong as they were before they turned. The excessive amount of adrenaline also makes their movements very erratic. They heal rather slowly, but take only half the time to heal an injury as compared to the time a normal person would need to do the same; however, the areas of previous injuries will be more prone to getting damaged because healing is accomplished via filling the injury with hardened, fragile fillings of parasites, akin to dental fillings of brittle glass.
- How to Kill -
They die as any other healthy individual does. If you severely injure them, they will bleed to death. Aiming for the head and heart will kill it immediately. Puncturing the lungs or any major blood vessel will also kill them.
- How to Avoid Infection -
If a One/First bites you deep enough for you to bleed, you will become infected. If you were bitten on a limb, you can cut your limb off; make sure it is done cleanly within three hours of being bitten. The parasite reproduces in the mouth of a One/First, and so the eggs linger in the One/First's saliva. Once the saliva comes into contact with your bloodstream, the eggs will hatch, and then move to your brain. You will develop a fever during the days (average of three) of the parasites' development, and once they are fully grown, you will die of said fever. Then, ten minutes after your death, the parasite will restart your brain, giving priority to the hypothalamus, and will travel to your heart to get it pumping again, albeit weakly. The parasite may also "help out" with respiration since the heart is beating too weakly to get the blood flowing cleanly through the valves in veins, and they do so by entering the veins and acting as red blood cells, carrying oxygen back to the lungs, hence why the veins of an infected are black, so much so that one could say that it is no longer blood, but rather a great mass of parasites making a mockery of it.

— 2 —
A common type of infected, but not as common as Ones/Firsts. They are referred to as "Two(s)" or "Second(s)," and they are more lethal than Ones/Firsts. If you are infected by a Two/Second, you will become either a One/First or Two/Second. Their eyesight is deplorable and they are more sensitive to light than Ones/Firsts are. They use their impeccable sense of smell and hearing to get around. They fall into a dormant state during the day, remaining unmoving—typically upright—unless jostled (i.e. they smell blood, they hear something loud, etc.), as if asleep.
- Appearance -
Exactly like Ones/Firsts, except instead of having both red and black blood, Twos/Seconds have white and black blood. The white blood can be found in the infecteds' arteries while the black blood is located in the veins. It is currently unknown as to why the arteries are filled with white blood; the blood itself appears to be a different kind of protozoa entirely. Their extremely pale, pallid, ashen skin is, thus, crisscrossed with black and white blood vessels. Twos/Seconds have very weak heartbeats and their oxygen supply is heavily dependent on the parasites in their blood.
- Behavior & Abilities -
Much like Ones/Firsts, Twos/Seconds are physically stronger and faster than the average, healthy individual due to the excessive amount of adrenaline being pumped through their bloodstreams. However, Twos/Seconds are stronger and faster than Ones/Firsts. In general, they are 2.5x to 4x stronger and faster than they were before they turned. Their movements are also much more erratic; they can appear to almost be... glitching, in a way. There may be times where they fear death, but they are otherwise of low intelligence and are mostly guided by their hunger. They can heal quickly, blood clotting within minutes of when a wound is formed. It only takes weeks for them to completely heal from what a normal human would take months or years to recover from; however, the areas of previous injury will be more prone to getting damaged as healing is accomplished in the same way healing is done with Ones/Firsts.
- How to Kill -
It is ideal to aim for the head, especially the brain stem, or the lungs. Don't bother with the heart; it will take too long for the infected to die if that organ is targeted.
- How to Avoid Infection -
Twos/Seconds are a little more complicated than Ones/Firsts in terms of how you can get infected by them. If a Twos/Seconds' bodily fluids (blood, saliva, sweat, etc.) come into contact with your bloodstream through a bite or simply because you had a scratch on your arm and that scratch encountered a splatter of blood, enters your body via your mouth, or gets into your eyes, you will become infected. The parasite's eggs are located on every excretion Twos/Seconds produce. Strangely, though, the Twos/Seconds' black blood is less likely to infect a person/takes longer to turn a person. Additionally, you are likely to turn faster than you would if you'd been infected by a One/First; instead of days, it will only take hours for you to die and turn. You can avoid infection by covering as much of your body as possible when engaging in combat. It is best to simply avoid combat altogether, however, by any means possible.

— 3 —
The most powerful type of infected, but also the rarest and least-encountered, with only ten recorded. Little is known about them. They are referred to as "Three(s)" or "Third(s)". If you are infected by a Three/Third, you will most likely become a One/First or a Two/Second, but there is a chance that you will also become a Three/Third.
- Appearance -
Threes/Thirds are very easily identified by their complexion: one of their eyes is completely white and the other is completely black, and the half of their body's skin tone on the side of their white eye is also completely white and the other half is completely black. The parasite completely mutated their bodies: they may appear gigantic and enormous, inhuman, a mere mass of flesh and teeth, or even more forms. One specific Third has been described to be made out of a max of black goop and that goop only. Since their blood is black and white, their tough, armor-thick skin is nearly jet-black and snow-white respectively with few traces of the pigment of their original skin left. They almost look like charcoal that was dipped halfway in white paint. Their hearts have completely stopped; oxygen is transferred through their bodies via the parasite, hence why their blood and by extension all their blood vessels are black and white respectively.
- Behavior & Abilities -
Threes/Thirds are always hungry, but they possess rather high levels of intelligence. They are afraid of death. They have been known to use tools and weapons. They are, apparently, capable of speech. Constantly running on extremely high levels of adrenaline and other fight-or-flight hormones, they have an immense amount of strength and are also extremely fast. Their movements are smooth, calculated, and almost human-like. They can heal rather quickly: severe injuries that a normal person would take years or never be able to heal from take only days, sometimes even just a few hours, for them to rid of entirely.
- How to Kill -
Run. Don't engage in combat. Aim for the brainstem if you can. Don't aim for anything else—go for the head. Don't go for the heart—they don't have a heartbeat anyway. Don't go for the lungs—their chests and backs are protected by extremely thick skin. Head. Only the head.
- How to Avoid Infection -
Run. You can get infected when a Third's bodily fluids (blood, saliva, etc.) come into contact with your bloodstream or enters your mouth and/or eyes. You will turn in seconds. Just... run. Get out of there.

— Unranked/Mutated —
This type of infected varies from the previous three to such great degrees that they are simply unrankable. Other scientists consider them to be mutations. Some are weaker than the average infected while others are even stronger than Threes. Some look nothing like those infected with the parasite. Some have even been known to be capable of intelligence. Girl was almost considered a Mutated, but because she never died after she was bitten, she is not under this classification.

————
Miscellaneous ————
Things to keep in mind throughout the RP.
- Girl's Shock Collar -
This is a shock collar that is around Girl's neck. It is impossible to get it off. The Leader has a remote with a button that, when pressed, will deliver a painful electric shock. This electric shock is administered whenever Girl is starting to act rowdy and uncontrollable.
- I.O.N. -
An I.O.N. ("infected or not?") is a battery-run tool that detects infection. Shaped like a thermometer gun, you aim it at any part of a person's nervous system, preferably the back of their head near the brainstem, press the trigger, and wait until the small screen at the back provides a reading. If the screen flashes green, the person is safe. If the screen flashes red, the person is infected. These tools are 93% accurate.
- Radioactive Zones -
Nuclear meltdowns are to be expected in a world where nuclear power plants do not have proper upkeep. The safe havens did their very best to keep these power plants cool, but they've let several go boom. Many states are completely radioactive. As such, these zones, highlighted in yellow on the map, are to be avoided—preferably. If one needs to enter them, they'll need to be well-prepared.
- Three/Third Territories -
Three/Thirds are said to be highly territorial. Since they are nomadic, their territories shift once every few days, so the safe havens elected to completely avoid massive chunks of land they might be found in. The areas highlighted in red are areas they might be wandering in, and are to be avoided.

MORE WILL BE ADDED THROUGHOUT RP

———— Roles ————
The roles that one can currently have in the RP. Other roles may be added at some point once the plot progresses. These additional roles may only be filled by those already accepted in the RP, and will typically just be of side characters or NPCs to kill off at some point. If you are planning for your current main character to be killed off, you can make a side character to fill in the missing role at some point in the RP.

—— The Escorts and the Psycho ——
The eight folks who kinda have to put up with each other to bring ~peace and tranquility~ back to the world, risking their lives for a "payment" of sorts: the Overseer of Daedalus promised the Leader that whoever brings Sadie to Icarus safely will be awarded whatever the hell they want—food, luxurious homes, partners, virtually anything so long as it fits within what Icarus can provide. Essentially, they'll be treated like royalty—and they wouldn't really need to do anything else. The RP begins with them all scattered inside of Daedalus, fighting to get the hell out.

— Leader —
The Leader is, obviously, the leader of this group. The Leader is either likey or unlikely to be extremely determined in bringing Girl to Icarus. They are in charge of managing Girl and the rest of the group. The RP begins with them in a hallway with Girl in a building known as Building 5-1B.

— Tag-Alongs —
The rest of the dysfunctional gang. These folks just kinda follow along. They vary between being determined to bring Girl to Icarus, or they might just be hanging around for other... reasons. They may be helpful or burdensome. They are either from Daedalus or Minos. The RP begins with them all being somewhere in Daedalus, likely close to Building 5-1B, which is where the Leader and Girl is.

—— Group Rules ——
The rules of The Escorts and the Psycho. Or, well, they're less rules and more-so things to just... keep in mind. These "rules" are based on the hastily-written list Daedalus' Overseer gave to the Leader. These rules are currently not in effect yet because the group is obviously nonexistent right now, but they will poof into existence when they're all far enough away from Daedalus to get their scrambled brains back together.
1. Get Girl to Icarus. Your efforts won't be in vain. You want to be happy, don't you?
2. So long as you're in the group, your life revolves around protecting Girl. Girl is very important. This is obvious because she is literally the only way to fix all this shit.
3. If you have a problem with Girl and don't want to be near her anymore and/or just want her gone, then leave.
4. If Girl begins to act rowdy and uncontrollable, administer an electric shock to remind her of her place.
5. Don't be problematic. Don't wander off without a word. Don't think you know better than everyone else. If you so much as mess up once, there's a chance you'll get both yourself and the rest of us killed. You might as well just leave if you've got a problem that you think can't be solved with conversation; we don't need someone to drag us all down.
6. Be helpful. Don't just laze about and let everyone else do the work. You might as well just leave if you don't bother contributing. Be willing to carry your weight.
7. Three people must stay awake and guard the rest during nighttime. Every four hours, these three people will be allowed to rest, three others coming to take their place. We'll get a move on the moment the sun rises.
8. Keep an eye out for batteries. Girl's shock collar will need its batteries replaced once every three months.
9. Stay away from Girl whenever possible, especially when she's hungry. Keep a distance of at least three feet. Keep a wider distance when she's starting to act... rowdy.
10. Girl is not like us. Do not treat her as such.

———— Forum Rules ————
The general rules to follow. Some rules may be repeated in the succeeding rule groups.
1. Follow Eve's rules.
2. Three strikes and you're out. I will give you three chances to redeem yourself if you break the rules. If you break the rules more than three times, you're getting kicked from this RP.
3. I reserve the right to decline any form. If you don't meet expectations or I am required to tell you to change your form more than three times, you will not be allowed to join. I hope I won't have to do this, but it is what it is.
4. Be respectful. Be kind. This is a given. Even if you disagree with someone, keep it between the two of you. Don't drag the rest of us into your chaos.
5. No godmodding or mini-modding.

———— RP Rules ————
The rules required to join and stay in this RP.
1. Be literate. What I mean by this is not that I require 5000+ words worth in responses each and every time you post. No. I couldn't care less how much you write, just that you progress the plot. Besides, in some scenes, especially action, the flow gets disrupted when responses are just way too long. However, try to have a proper understanding of punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, paragraph breaks, vocabulary (that means no wolfspeak), etc. This is a literate RP, after all. Try to avoid one-liners, though, and at least write one paragraph (5+ sentences) per response. I understand writer's block and short replies, but an incoherent post is unacceptable. The rest of us need something to respond to, after all.
2. Profanity is allowed. However, due to WP's rules, try to limit the number of f-bombs you throw in. (I'll likely break this within ten seconds, R.I.P.—)
3. Try to post once every week. I understand writer's block, lack of motivation, and life getting in the way, but since I'm not requiring that many words in each response anyway, you should have enough time to write something out and prevent the RP from dying. If you believe you will be inactive at any point in time, let me know, and we'll work something out. If you are inactive for more than ten days without prior notice, I will PM you and ask what's going on.
4. You can do time skips. I do not control the time or the weather; I only do that at the start of the RP to kick things off. Try not to skip more than one day and give others the chance to catch up.
5. If you wish to leave the RP, PM me and we'll work something out. Most likely, your character will be killed off or, if you allow for it, control will be handed to someone else.
6. Chatter must be left out of the sign-ups thread and the RP thread. All questions, suggestions, comments, etc. must be done through PMs or in the discussion thread.
7. I'll say it again: be respectful. Be kind. This is a given. Even if you disagree with someone, keep it between the two of you. Don't drag the rest of us into your chaos.
8. OOC drama will be shut down. I mean it. I see any of that, I'm going to do something about it. RP drama is allowed, of course, and desperately more than wanted.
9. Your character will get hurt. Your character will be injured, mildly or severely, throughout the RP. Be realistic. Your character is human: they will also get hungry, thirsty, and tired. Random events (sprained ankle, pulled muscle, etc.) may also happen.
10. You will need permission to injure/kill a character who isn't yours. Others' OCs are not yours to control. Also, try not to impulsively decide to kill your character(s)—this is for the sake of story-telling. Plan it to some degree. And, if you get into combat with someone else's character, give the other person the chance to respond. Fights are akin to a turn-based system, and you will not be able to get every hit in and you will not be able to dodge every hit. Please note that there will be times where minor godmodding will be needed—for the sake of better flow of the plot.
11. Be open to pitch in suggestions, ideas, etc.. This RP is heavily character-driven, so you'll need to be prepared for your character to do something that'll affect the plot. And, since you're also a member of this RP, you can pitch in on any worldbuilding ideas. You don't even need to hedge. Don't be afraid to speak your mind in the discussion thread. If you have anything to say, we'd love to hear it.

I WILL ADD MORE AS I SEE FIT.

———— Sign-Up Rules ————
The rules to keep in mind when creating your character.
1. No romance between your own characters (unless they're strictly side characters). This is to prevent exclusion. Obviously, because you aren't allowed to make more than one character yet, this can't exactly take effect, but keep this rule in mind when more main characters get whacked in.
2. No love-at-first-sight. I like it the slow burns.
3. Even though the characters have not yet met, it'd be for the best to plan what kind of relationships you'd want your character to have with the others. So, don't be afraid to PM each other to brainstorm ideas.
4. Currently, you are allowed only one character. You can only take one of any role that is currently available. However, since I am partial to familial relationships, if you've got a good enough idea for no more than two individuals who platonically consider each other family, then PM me and I'll see if I can make an exception. Since the only roles available lie in the group, I'll have to manage how many characters are out and about in the RP because large groups are less likely to survive in an apocalypse.
5. No Mary/Gary Sues. No OP characters. Your characters will get injured.
6. Put at least three strengths and weaknesses. For every major strength you add, there must be a major weakness, and vice-versa. If the strength/weakness isn't too profound, however, then you don't need to add an opposite to it. Just make sure that you understand your characters are not perfect.
7. Describe your character's appearance and personality using at least two (2) paragraphs with three or more (3+) sentences each. I want to know everything there is to know about this character and why they're unique.
8. Speaking of uniqueness, be creative. I'd recommend you read through everyone's sign-up forms and try to create a character who doesn't have the same traits as another. Go wild with the traits, but keep things realistic. Your character, who is human, will not have perfect skin of color entirely different from natural pigments, will not have perfectly dyed hair or unnaturally-colored hair, will not have a clean look to them, be perfectly built, will not have a completely (keyword: "completely") optimistic personality, etc. This is an apocalypse, fam; 90% of everyone out there doesn't look good and will have hardened hearts. If you're wondering why Sadie is an exception to this rule, the answer is simple: she's not human.
9. Keep genders as balanced as possible.
10. Your characters will dress as needed. Remember how Twos/Seconds and Threes/Thirds work? Humans are adaptable. They'll change as expected of them for the sake of survival.
11. Your characters will not be clueless about how survival works. The only exception is if your character has spent a majority of their life living in a safe haven being coddled, but even then, your character will know the basics of staying alive in a zombie apocalypse. Your character will know how to work at least some basic weaponry (handguns, rifles, knives, etc.), will know how to kill, will likely be prepared to kill, will know how to ransack abandoned places for resources, and so on.
12. Link an RP example.

Sadie (Girl)
say • dee
[Princess]
"WAKEY-WAKEY! I'M FUCKIN' HUNGRY!!"
___________________

- BA S I C S -
Name: Sadie ("Girl")
Age: 15 Y/O (April 1, 2021)
Gender: Female (She/Her/Hers/Herself)
Sexuality: Demisexual Demiromantic

Role:
Package
| Sadie carries the cure to the Immortuos Parasite |

- A P P E A R A N C E -
Ethnicity: Mix (Korean x Caucasian American)
Sadie certainly looks nothing like the average person. The only traits of hers that resemble humans are her small, petite, admittedly gaunt build; symmetrical and soft facial structure; and androgynous features, the lattermost of which leads most to more often than not be confused with her gender, resulting in constant misgendering as a boy (not that she gives a shit) and sincere apologies when her feminine name and title come to light. Also pertaining to the latter, her voice doesn't quite help: raspy, soft, and gravelly for someone her age and sex, you can't blame someone for wrongly assuming. Her short alabaster hair, which dangles in matted clumps a few inches above her shoulders, akin to a choppy bowl-cut style, furthermore fails to differentiate her from the societal standards of male and female. But, again, not that she gives a shit. In her own opinion, the other not-normal aspects of her appearance certainly take more precedence.

As mentioned, she has white hair. Not just any kind of white hair: it's not alabaster, porcelain, or chiffon, but whiter than snow and even the petals of daisies, so white that bright light touching its surface would result in a blinding shine. However, dirt, grime, and dried blood have dulled the hue of purity, causing the mop upon her head to look not only like a bird's nest and overall disaster but also like salted, muddied snow. This isn't the only thing that separates her from the idea of normal: since her blood is some strange cocktail of red, black, and white colors, her blood vessels' colorations correspond to such to certain degrees, standing stark against her unhealthily pale, almost white, skin. Most of the vessels in her body appear as they would on a healthy individual's person, albeit a bit more pronounced (though this is likely just a cause of malnourishment), but some of the ones surrounding her heart, left shoulder, upper left arm, and both sides of her neck are colored black and white. The colors of the ones on her neck are much, much more pronounced, almost causing her neck to look like some strange black-and-white hunk of charcoal; a few vessels, mostly black in color, taper off into healthy colors right about her jawline, ending in pointed lines just below her cheeks. Her fingernails, too, because of the abnormal blood colorations, are a mix of black, white, and healthy pink.

It doesn't end there: her eyes will tell you that she just isn't normal. Her left eye looks like any other—with its beautifully pistachio-green shade and minty hues spattered about, one could get lost in them forever. But her right eye? The iris is the exact same color, but the sclera is completely black and the pupil is pure white. Perhaps that's why she's allowed the bangs to grow rather tilted; more strands cover the right side of her face than the other, ever-so-slightly covering the eye she doesn't like to acknowledge.

Oddly, her eyelashes are black in color, as are her eyebrows, though the latter are... so thin they are virtually nonexistent, so their color can't be easily discerned. But, the black shade obviously doesn't correspond to the white strands of hair... Could it be Marie Antoinette Syndrome?

Irrelevant.

What matters is that she doesn't look normal. Perhaps that's why she doesn't bother acting normal.

Height: 4'11"
Weight: 73 lbs. (malnourished)
Build: Mesomorph
Attire:
Sadie wears a simple white hospital gown that, due to her slim physique, is too large for her and constantly slips off her right shoulder, the fabric torn in some small areas. She doesn't bother with any lower wear; the hospital gown is long enough for her. She doesn't wear shoes or socks, preferring to walk barefoot; the skin of her feet has grown thick and callous through years of walking around rough terrain without any protection.
Accessories:
Does Hulda count? Hulda is a stuffed fox her big brother gave her once upon a time. Sadie thinks Hulda was a birthday present. The animal has the coloration of a silver fox and is oh-so-fluffy, though its fake fur has gotten rougher over the past few years due to all the dirt and grime that has latched onto it. It's small, just a little larger than both Sadie's hands placed side-by-side, and has lost a lot of its cotton, causing it to look rather flat for something advertised as squishable. Hulda has a black button eye (the other fell off a while back, replaced by two lines of thread that hang precariously from a false socket). It also has several different-colored stitches throughout its body. Besides the aforementioned damages, however, Hulda is in rather good condition, implying quite a lot of love given to keeping it together. Sadie has an intense attachment to Hulda. She's never seen without it in her hand, dragging it around by the leg, arm, or tail.
Weaponry:
She doesn't have any on her person. She'd like to have a knife at some point, though.

- Unique Abilities -
Sadie was bitten by a Three/Third and did not turn, instead becoming a strange amalgamation of half-zombie half-human. Her blood is red, white, and black all at once. When she is well-fed and not-so-hungry, she is very, very strong, capable of easily snapping a femur in half, and is extremely fast, able to run at 35 mph at full sprint. If she is starving, she will be able to smell blood from almost ten miles away; when she is as hungry as she usually is, that gets reduced to only half a mile. When she is not that hungry, she also has an excellent healing factor: her blood clots within seconds or two–ten minutes depending on severity, and, with proper care, what would normally take healthy humans months to heal from will only take a few weeks for her. She'd likely be even more powerful had she not been so malnourished. However, she gets progressively weaker the hungrier she gets—until she's virtually weaker than a One/First, not to mention she'll be completely mindless with starvation. Since she's almost always between half-full and dying-of-hunger, she's about as strong and fast as the average twenty-year-old man, and her healing factor is significantly slower at the speed of any other average human's. Her bite pressure also varies: a few days after stuffing herself full, it'll be at 2000 psi; later, it'll be at 900 psi; when she's absolutely starving, it'll go down to 230 psi. One constant is that her digestive system can efficiently digest raw flesh—and that she's always hungry, even when her stomach can't handle more food. She cannot digest the flesh of an infected individual. She cannot get infected by an infected individual, but infected individuals will still target her as prey. She can "sense" other infected in her general vicinity; she will know, to some degree, how many infected and what types of infected are around her within a quater-of-a-mile radius.

- P E R S O N A L I T Y -
Sadie is childish and playful, as bubbly and near-sweet as any other teenage girl back before everything went to hell. Energetic and extroverted, she is always looking to socialize whenever possible, even when her sudden insertion into someone else's conversations and by-extension life is inappropriate for the situation. If she is interested in something, especially a person, she'll be there following endlessly like some lost puppy regardless of any protests, a result of obvious social ineptitude. She can be blunt and rude, her emotional immaturity, lack of complex human understanding, and constant bitching oftentimes falling into the category of "annoying" despite her not truly wanting to be so infuriating, but she smiles brighter than the sun, saccharine and reassuring, her irises glimmering so beautiful and alive that you'd think she could just... sweep all your worries away.

She is among the most violent and disturbed fifteen-year-olds ever given the privilege of existing.

The scientists who tortured studied her described her as extremely problematic: she was prone to misbehaving and always primed to attack; she could be easily compared to a rabid snake forever locked in a cycle of aimless striking. She has no concept of a moral code and will do as she pleases if not often enough thoroughly reminded of her place. The idea of limits, filters, social etiquette, and humanity as a whole is beyond her comprehension, and she doesn't ever want them to be. Akin to a madman, she has been known to have moments of hysteria: laughing maniacally for no apparent reason, her heart-melting smiles surfacing in the face of blood, she is very clearly fucked in the head—and she knows it. How could she not? The shock collar proves it. Her physiology itself proves it. She knows she isn't normal. She knows she'll always be this way, forever, because she doesn't know how to be otherwise, how to stop.

It's funny how the world's savior is a monster. And it's funny how that statement isn't even pessimistic. No, it's optimistic instead—because she's no one's hero. She's just a tool to be used for the sake of a world that never gave a single shit about anyone.

+ Hulda. Hulda is her best friend. Hulda doesn't care what she does. Hulda stays even when Sadie gets so hungry that she tears it apart with her teeth in search of something she won't find. Hulda doesn't care that she's a monster. Hulda is always there. Hulda will always be there. Sadie loves Hulda. +
Dislikes:

- Being called "Girl". It's rude. She has a name! It's "Sadie". S-A-D-I-E. How is that so hard to say?! -
- Judgmental people. She hates the way they look at her like she's going to tear them to shreds the moment she gets the chance. It's stupid. They're stupid. She... She has more self-control than that! -
- Being hungry. It's wayyyy too painful, really. And the fact that she's constantly hungry 24/7? Bullshit—that's what it is. So annoying... -
- Being forced to eat regular, normal food. Granted, she's perfectly capable of eating what not-infecteds do (she can even digest it all just fine), but... It's so inefficient and just... yuck. Digusting. Gross. Maybe she'll eat cooked shit if she really had to, but it's gotta be meat. No vegetables. She'll lose her mind if it's not from things that have heartbeats. -
- The electrical shocks. Ouch. -
- Not being allowed to be herself! Aren't regular, normal people all about "freedom"? How come they always try to stop her from doing what she wants, then?! It's lame. -
- ...Her reflection. -

- S T A T S -
In no particular order.
Strengths:
+ Her lack of a moral code enables her to kill without hesitance. +
+ Her immaturity often overlaps with innocence. Some (weirdos, she'd say) may find this endearing. +
+ Sadie, strangely, is good at listening. This is mostly because she has no idea what to say when someone throws a load of TMI her way. But, hey, at least someone gets a burden off their shoulders? Sadie heard from her big brother once that talking is healthy. This, of course, does not mean that she is good at giving advice. Her way of fixing things is by killing and, if possible, eating whatever is involved with them, after all. +
+ When Sadie has eaten her fill recently, she will be physically stronger, faster, keener, and more accurate with her attacks. +
+ She is less erratic, unpredictable, prone to violence, impatient, bloodthirsty, and impetuous when she's not as hungry. Her personality won't change much (she will still be rowdy and such), but there will be a noticeable difference between her when she's hungry and her when she isn't that much. +
+ Get on her good side and she might just show how loyal she is. +
+ She has a high pain tolerance. +
+ She is extremely good at getting under people's skin. +
+ Her quick, wild fighting "style" can become overwhelming and difficult to counteract. +
Weaknesses:
- She lacks a moral code. -
- She is rather childish and immature. -
- She is socially inept. In fact, she lacks emotional understanding so greatly that she will simply confront any potential enemy head-on the moment she is given the opportunity. It is difficult to get her to collaborate and cooperate with others. -
- When she hasn't eaten in quite a while (a month or so), she will become progressively weaker, slower, unobservant, and inaccurate with her attacks. -
- She becomes a mindless creature when she has gone without eating for too long. She will still be capable of speech, but it won't be intelligent nor coherent—more likely, it'll be an amalgamation of random words strung together in a mockery of a sentence. The only thing that will be on her mind is finding something to eat. -
- She is difficult to control, wild and unrestrained, the very definition of a riotous that verges on savage. -
- She is indecisive. She can change her mind at the drop of a hat. -
- Due to various mental illnesses that came about from years of traumatic experiences, she is..., well..., mentally ill. -
- Her high pain tolerance often leads to her not understanding how severe of a wound she has. -
- She's not good at fighting, in terms of technique and skill. She just... jumps right in, swings wildly, and picks a god to pray to. Her methods are dirty and filled with unintentionally needless movements. -

Is she from Daedalus/Minos?:
She is from Daedalus. Somewhat. Considering just what she is, she wasn't really with them, a part of them, so... A mayhaps. She's definitely leaving the place now, that's for sure. Which is absolutely wonderful! She's been stuck in a monotonous cycle of breathing the same exact air in the same exact building for... What? A couple days? Weeks? Months? Years? Who knows? She certainly doesn't. She doesn't think she wants to know.
Brief Backstory: She'd rather not share.

- R E L A T I O N S H I P S -
- With Group -
Will be discussed later on.
- With Family -
Charlie (Older Brother, Status Unacknowledged) | He "bought" her Hulda for her eighth birthday. She respects him very much. Sometimes, she misses him. She doesn't talk about him much, usually expertly dodging any questions that might lead to a mention of his name, but when she does her eyes fill with affection.
Sadie doesn't remember much about the others she knew.

- M I S C -
~ She has a needle and a spool of brown thread inside of Hulda. Hulda functions like a bag too, see; Sadie stitched a pouch inside of it to make it "even more helpful." She accesses whatever is inside the pouch via a zipper on the stuffed fox's stomach. She uses the needle and thread to fix Hulda whenever it gets "injured." ~
~ Her vocabulary has a lot of Gen-Z slang mixed into it. This is because her older brother was Gen-Z; so, she was exposed to a lot of things he said, and she, like any other child, mimicked them. The scientists who experimented on her were also mostly Gen-Z, so she was also exposed to their... unique sense of humor. ~
~ She can speak Korean, but not as fluently as she'd like to. She knows a few phrases in Chinese and Japanese. ~
~ Sadie is prone to sensory overloads. Her body may not be entirely human, but that doesn't mean that her brain is able to deal with the influx of information. ~
~ She can eat the food healthy people do. Her digestive system is just picky and won't take any nutritional value from said foods, and it will make her feel a bit nauseated. She can only efficiently digest raw flesh, human flesh more so. ~
~ Her brother is Roman Catholic, so she knows a few verses in the Bible. ~
~ She bullies people a lot. This is because she and her brother bullied each other excessively. ~
~ She will feel uncomfortable being called "Sadie" by those she doesn't really know. This is something many might find odd considering how she internally bitches about not being called by her name, but Sadie is very inconsistent with everything pertaining to herself. ~
~ Sadie's voice is gravelly, delivered in almost painful-sounding rasps, like she swallowed sand with glass in it. It's almost as if she's been screaming her whole life. The reason why her voice sounds like this is because of her mutated physiology and due to acid burning her throat. ~
~ She is extremely determined to get to Icarus. ~

Activity:
Depending on how much I'm given to work with, I will post at least once a week or once every three days.

Anything Else?:
Sadie is not immediately going to form healthy relationships with others. It will take time for her to start opening up. Please refrain from making your characters refer to her as "Sadie" when the RP has just begun; instead, please have them call her "Girl." Please keep in mind that your characters are more than likely to be extremely wary of her (unless they're dead inside and incapable of questioning anything). They are unlikely to treat her like a human. This is an apocalypse; no one is kind when the only thing on your mind is survival, and when you've got a child who doesn't even look entirely like a child eyeing you up like she's about to chomp on your everything, they're probably not going to respect her any time soon.

I will be extremely picky with who gets to join. So, there are going to be days where your form might just sit around neither getting accepted nor declined. This isn't me ignoring your form. As I said, I'm extremely picky. I'm doing this simply because I'm waiting for more people to sign up before making any major decision.

Hope that's understandable.
