Shapeshifters; beings said to have brought death and destruction upon the world. Not one human has gone a day without hearing of their evil deeds, nor has their fear of the creatures ever ebbed. For as long as anybody can remember, shapeshifters have been at the top of the food chain because of their immense strength and abilities. The government has worked tirelessly in a desperate attempt to rid the world of the pests and regain humanity’s spot as the apex predator; but to no avail. Shapeshifters are superior to humans in every way; that is what people finally realised as their worlds started to crumble. Or, at least, that’s what they thought.

Scientists; one group in particular, came out with weapons meant to counter shapeshifters. The name of this company was Ryōshi, and they had worked under the cover of the shadows to develop a deadly poison, which was useless against humans, but lethal to shapeshifters. It wasn’t enough to kill one of them, but did render them unable to use their abilities for a time. This deadly poison was used to make bullets, injections, and was even smothered onto knives and other blades; all in an effort to take down the shapeshifter’s reign of terror. And, you know what? It worked.

Ryōshi succeeded in bringing down the shapeshifters, taking each one that they’d captured into custody. Those that weren’t taken in were forced into hiding, afraid of what the scientists may do to them. With numerous facilities scattered across the region, Ryōshi had more than enough space to keep all of the shapeshifters in which they’d reduced to little more than test subjects. The scientists which made up the whole of Ryōshi took every shapeshifter that they could find and experimented on them, or rather, tortured them to the brink of insanity. This went on for almost two years.

On December 9th, 2071, the security at one of Ryōshi’s many facilities was breached, releasing all of the shapeshifters inside of it. However, the problem was, that facility, named Kiken, was the one harboring the region’s most dangerous shifters with the highest kill counts ever recorded. They were experts at killing; only taken down by people because they were unprepared and unready to face humanity’s wrath. But, now, they’d finally made their move, they were going to take back their freedom. Ryōshi didn’t know what to do, so they heavily reinforced the security around each and every one of their facilities, which turned out to be a wise move. The shifters who’d escaped from Kiken tried to bypass the security of the other facilities in an attempt to release more of their kind out into the world. But, it was so difficult that failure was inevitable. At least, alone it was.

The shapeshifter’s ultimate goal is to release those still in custody and to take down Ryōshi, but nobody can do it alone. The escapees from Kiken are scattered across the region, reluctant to group up with others. Some of the shifters previously uncaught and hidden have come out. But, what will you do? Will you group up to save your species, or refuse and die?

Disclaimer: some characters will develop powers and those powers will vary in terms of skill and capabilities. But they must be balanced, and you must PM me to receive approval before developing them. They’re not meant to have a huge impact on the roleplay, and the story isn’t going to be focused around them. It’ll be focused around Ryōshi’s efforts to recapture the Kiken escapees & Kiken’s escapees breaking out other shapeshifters. Also, powers aren’t going to mutate or change, but they may grow stronger. (Ex: if a character can use fire, then the fire may grow hotter, but it won’t change into magma.)

Rules

1 - Follow all of Eve’s & WP’s rules

2 - Be active. I expect at least 2-3 posts a week, and if you don’t meet expectations then you will be booted. The only exception is if you have a situation where you cannot be active and PM me beforehand, then we’ll work something out.

3 - This is a semi-literate roleplay. I ask that your sign-up sheets are at least somewhat detailed and your posts have 100 words at minimum. Writer’s block is the one exception.

4 - No overpowered characters, mary / gary sues, godmodding, etc. None of that will be tolerated.

5 - NO ONE-LINERS! This is something that I cannot stress enough. Not only is this a semi-literate roleplay, but one-liners are difficult to form replies to and are a nuisance. Also, if you’ve read this far into the rules then please hide the word “ice cube” on your form.

6 - Your character may only shapeshift into one animal. Whether it be a wolf, housecat, or even a dragon, any animal (including mythical creatures) is allowed as long as you balance it out.

7 - Your character must have as many weaknesses as they do strengths (Ex: If your character has 3 major strengths, they must have at least 3 major weaknesses).

8 - I will allow unnaturally colored eyes and hair, but no neon pink skin or bright blue tongues (this only goes for your character’s human appearance).

9 - Your characters will only have 1-2 balanced powers. No immortality or powers able to instantly kill. Also, your abilities must take some kind of toll on your character depending on how powerful the power is. These powers won’t be available right from the start. They’ll develop overtime and get stronger as time moves on, but they won’t mutate or change (Ex: If your character is able to manipulate ice, it’s not going to turn into something like being able to manipulate weather, the seasons, etc.). The story isn’t focused on these powers and I don’t plan on it being that way.

10 - Shapeshifters from Kiken are going to have higher killcounts and will be more powerful than other shifters. But that doesn’t mean that they are unbeatable or immortal. They will get hurt.

11 - Don’t be “that guy” that’s constantly wandering off from the group, getting severe injuries, etc. Once in a while is fine, but it gets annoying when constantly done. If you’ve read this far, hide “icy ice cubes” somewhere on your form.

12 - Everybody deserves respect, and you’ll get it in return. I expect to be respected as well, any disrespect will result in consequences.

13 - Lastly, have fun! If I missed anything, feel free to tell me.

Escapees from Kiken. These shapeshifters are known to be some of the most dangerous in the region; they have extremely high kill counts and are being hunted down by Ryōshi. They’re scattered across the region but some may eventually come together and form small groups. There may be aggression or conflict among groups, though. Exclusive Roles

These are roles that are exclusive to one character and can be asked for via PMs.

The Traitor

The Traitor is a shapeshifter that is secretly on the side of Ryōshi, and is spying on the Kiken escapees as well as trying to find out the locations of other uncaptured shapeshifters. They report back to Ryōshi every other night.

The Pretender

The Pretender is similar to the Traitor. However, the Pretender only pretends to be on the side of Ryōshi, and is actually on the side of the shapeshifters. This person may be a shifter or human. They sabotage Ryōshi and report back to the shapeshifters every other day.

The Infected

The Infected is a shapeshifter harboring a deadly disease spread through Kiken. Anybody that comes into contact with them will most likely get the sickness. However, death is not guaranteed.

The Scout

The Scout is a character on the shapeshifter’s side that is able to scout out and bypass the security of Ryōshi’s facilities without brute force. They have a lot of information and knowledge of the region and also know where some facilities lie. But they aren’t able to break other shifters out on their own.

The Culprit

This is the shifter who breached Kiken's security. They have immense strength and are the one being sought out by Ryōshi the most. However, they are not yet powerful enough to breach any facilities security on their own.

Lucian is very misstusting to new people and very unpredictable. Lucian is observant always looking to fight or defend himself. Lucian is vengeful but can be loyal if you gain his trust . It is almost like Lucian and Have werevtwo different personalities. Lucian is reserved caring and protective of those he grows to trust. Havoc was the unpredictable killer part of him. Ots as if the wolf takes complete control
