You have read my mind! I think that the chimera or maybe a viti would be the only good defect/dye combos. So I will stick to my plan then and do a 59ACR greyscale for my little gremlin and hopes he can stir up some attention.

I would use it on say a chim or something like that but an axan, mela, alb etc is sort of pointless in my opinion.

That is exactly what I was thinking (cause I have dyes I could use) but I would rather use them on wolves that do not have a pelt defect so you can see them. At least personally I feel it to be more worthwhile that way.

Characters:
-Embers Rising-

Full Name:

Alexis Dean Crowl

Preferred Name:

Alex

Nicknames:

Allie, Al, Lex

Age:

23 (Death Age)

Birthday:

July 15th

Species:

Human/Ghost

Gender:

Male

Bio:

When he was alive, Alex was a college junior, majoring in Pop Culture and minoring in the arts. He got into a somewhat prestigious public school with a full ride athletic scholarship, where he joined the soccer team and school newspaper. He was a rowdy student, always focusing more on parties than he did his studies, but he kept his performance up athletically enough to keep his seat for the three years he was enrolled. It’s not that he wasn’t smart enough for his classes, he just didn’t apply much effort to them. Alex died on September eighth, after going out partying with some friends after a big game. Having gotten completely black-out drunk, he accepted a ride home with one of the partygoers, whose face he can not remember. The man took him home, as promised, but forced his way inside and shot Alex in his own house. Police were unable to identify the shooter, as the only evidence left of the crime was the body, a bullet from the gun, and a few witness statements from drunken college students who couldn’t even recall the names of the partiers, let alone who took the boy home that night.

Personality:

Alex has a free spirit, is extremely sociable, and has absolutely no qualms about expressing himself. He’s a terrible flirt (though he means nothing by it most of the time), impish jokester, and loves to cause problems on purpose. He enjoys the chaos that devolves from a good prank and just generally likes to have a good time, especially if it’s at the expense of others. Alex puts the pro in procrastination and is more than happy to sit around and watch as others do the work for him. However, he’s also filled with energy and, while alive, was known for his talent in sports and all around just being a big ball of energy. He’s smart, and if you can get him talking, he’ll likely blabber your ear off about whatever catches his interest.

Traits/General Info:

Think “You’ve been bunked with a gremlin college student that contributes nothing but acts like he owns the place”, he has that sort of vibe. He has depression, but he internalizes it, bottling it up inside until it eventually bubbles over and leaves him a despondent mess on the couch. He’s a doting brother and affectionate partner, but otherwise keeps relationships distant in order to keep himself safe from more heartbreak. He also has ADHD which can make him easily lose focus and slightly hyperactive. He’s fairly intelligent, but he simply finds no need to apply that brain power anywhere when he can easily get someone else to do it for him, and he doesn’t deal well with silence, leading him to carry on conversations with himself or blabber absently at anyone nearby.

Family:

Alex has all but disowned his family, especially his father who can’t keep a wife for the life of him. His newest step-mother isn’t terrible, from what he’s heard, but he has no desire to get close to her. He doesn’t keep in touch with either of them, but he still adores his only sibling: A younger brother named Thomas who would be about 14-15 now.

Appearance:

Alex has a head of dirty blonde curls and striking pale, green eyes. A smattering of freckles splashes across his pale cheeks and nose, and he almost always has a shit-eating grin plastered to his face. Alex stands at about five foot nine and is physically capable but relatively thin and lanky, as his muscle mass comes across as lean instead of bulky. He’s dressed in a green, oversized hoodie and a pair of sweatpants, with his beloved, scuffed sneakers adorning his feet and a gold locket clasped around his neck. It is unknown if the necklace has a picture inside or not as the hinge has been rusted shut for years.

-Rose Vine-

Full Name: Emmeline Lynn Young

Preferred Name: Emmeline

Nicknames: Emmi, Em

Age: 20

Birthday: January 11th

Species: Human

Gender:

Female

Bio:

Emmeline grew up in a fairly small town and always loved the arts, mainly dancing. When she graduated high school she moved to a big city to escape her family who were always trying to change her into something she wasn't. There she was accepted into a performing arts academy. Emmeline was a hard worker and put her all into almost everything she did. The only thing she didn't find relatively important was relationships. She always thought of them as a distraction and would often stay at home either rehearsing or with a book and a nice hot cup of tea. But with her hard work did come a deep sense of loneliness. She was always dealing with it alone and dance was the only thing that could distract her from it.

Personality:

Emmeline is quite introverted and has difficulty connecting with people. She has a quiet nature yet is incredibly headstrong and devoted. She enjoys being in her own space, not really allowing anyone to get close to her. She can be a bit snappish when people purposely try to annoy her. She doesn’t appreciate people who don’t do their share of work. Emmeline prefers to listen to people rather than talk but will give her opinion when it's asked for.

General info:

Emmeline loves listening to music and going to the dog park with her dog Roco who is a big Rottweiler. Though he may appear big he is a gentle giant and gets along great with her cat Mitsy. Being a dancer Emmeline is quite athletic and always finds an excuse to go for a run or go to the gym whenever she can.

Family:

Emmeline has tried to keep as much distance from her family as possible. Nobody knows this but her family was the richest in their town which always put a little more attention on Emmeline than she ever cared for. Her father had passed away when she was ten leaving her in the care of her very strict mother. Emmeline had an older brother who she was very close to named Lucas but one night while coming home from school Lucas was hit by a car and killed on impact. Every year, only once a year on his birthday she returns home to visit his grave.

Appearance:

Emmeline is rather tall for her age standing about five foot six inches. She's rather skinny but still has great muscle on her. She had really long straight brown hair with a tint of red in it when it's in sunlight. Her skin is well tanned with a distinct birthmark on the left side of her neck that sort of looks like a crown. She mainly wears leggings and in a sports bra in the comfort of her home preferring to be comfortable and less confined. But when she is in public she'll wear mainly dark skinny jeans and a comfortable sweatshirt.

Being dead sucks. Honestly, it really, really sucks.

He’s not sure why he ever expected it to be different. Obviously dying wouldn’t be a fun experience, but he’d at least thought there’d be something waiting for him at the end. You know, heaven, or limbo or something. A blank white void, heck, even hell had to be better than this.

Because this? Being trapped in your own house with nothing to do for three years? It sucks. The house hasn’t gotten a new owner yet which means there’s no electricity or plumbing connected to it. That means no television, no games, no parties, nothing. It wouldn’t even be half bad if he could just leave!

He can’t even cross the property line for gods sake! Believe him, he tried. It felt kind of like that slingshot ride at the carnival. You know, where it launches you into the air and you rubber band back? Exactly like that, but a lot less fun and a hell of a lot annoying.

On the upside, he can float through walls now. That’s kinda fun. And he doesn’t have to deal with any annoying phone calls from his father. He doesn’t have to deal with anyone now, actually, considering they can’t see him.

"I miss Tommy... Wonder how the little bugger is doing?" He sighs out brokenly into the house.

The house, of course, doesn't respond. He never expects it to, but somehow it always disappoints him when nothing but his own echo responds. He wraps his arms around himself. Its cold, he knows it is, but he can't feel it. Not anymore.

Emmeline never thought she'd get this chance. Getting to dance as a prema ballarina at her dream school!
She had just arrived in New York City! Sure she was nervous...being a small town kinda girl and all. But when had she ever had difficulty with new challenges? Stepping out of the airport she tried to hail a cab.

After 10 minutes of trying she realized this was going to be way bigger than she thought. Finally being more assertive she was able to get a ride. "4735 Thompson Drive please" she said after the driver put her bags in the trunk and got back inside. The driver nodded respectfully and they took off. The drive there was longer than anticipated so Emmeline got lost in her thoughts. What would her life be like now being so far away from home?
She kept thinking this over until the driver yelled back at her. Shaking out of her reverie and apologized profusely to the diriver and payed him. She got out of the car and grabbed her bags looking at her new home for the next four years. This is it! She thought and headed inside.

The sound of a dying motor outside was his only warning before the front door suddenly swung open. Alex started, head whipping towards the stairs in confusion.

'Maybe the relator was was back?' He thought to himself and his wince fell into a scowl. The dark expression Alex had didn't stay for long as he listened to the newcomer plod around the downstairs of his house.

He couldn't do this today.

Alex hauled himself up from his place on the floor and stretched, frowning as he caught slight of the slightly translucent appearance of his arms. The wooden floors creaked again downstairs and he launched himself up, phasing through the ceiling to the dusty, locked up attic. The relator wouldn't have keys to the room, even he didn't have a way to access this floor when he was alive, so he felt relatively safe waiting them out up here.

Once situated, he flopped down again on the floor, stretching out and taking great care not to accident drop through the ceiling. He pillowed his arms behind his head, staring blankly up at the ceiling.

Hopefully his vistor would leave soon. The privacy of the attic was nice, but he didn't want to be stuck up here all day.

Emmeline tried turning on the light. No power. That's right, she thought to herself, she wouldn't have power until tomorrow.

Dragging her bags in Em looked around the room. The place was very well kept and looked surprisingly comfortable for being in New York. The house came newly furnished and there was a big grey couch in the living room with a matching love seat that was placed next to a big bay window that looked out into the street.

Taking off her winter jacket she set it on one of the kitchen table chairs. Walking into the kitchen she could tell it also had new appliances. "Wow" she quietly said to herself her voice slightly bouncing off the open space. They weren't kidding when they said her scholarship came with some nice perks.

Finally noticing the stairs that led to the second floor she excitedly bounded up them. The house had only two bedrooms and one full sized bathroom which was plenty for just her. The master bedroom was quite cozy. The bed was probably enough for three people alone, but the thing that excited her was the reading nook on the right side of the room.

There was a small balcony that was connected that was rather new. Opening the lass doors she steps out to take in the somewhat fresh air.

The stairs creak somewhere beneath him and Alex rolls his eyes, pulling one of the stained cardboard boxes towards him and digging through it for something to do. He blows a raspberry as he uncovers a set of playing cards. Not the ideal entertainment, but it'll do.

Prize in hand, he kicks the decrepit box away, paying no mind as it falls over with a soft thump and various medals spill out.

He makes a point not to look at them as he bridges the cards. In the past he would have been proud of his achievements, and they would have been displayed on a wall for everyone to see. Now they just remind him what he's lost.

That's a bit depressing, he thinks, and he hums as he shuffles the deck. He takes the thought and shoves it to the back of his mind, locking it up tight and ignoring the squeezing feeling in chest. Lately, he's been doing that more often. It's probably not healthy, but hey, it keeps him moving from day to day so he considers it a win.

His therapist would hate this, he thinks with a snort. The cards fan out on the floor and he pouts when he realizes he's four or five cards short. Solitaire would be a pain to play without them, but he doesn't know any other games he can play without a partner. He sets the game up anyway.

The dull footsteps of the person below him echos through the house as he starts up his first game. The steps travel towards his room and the shitty 2014 song starts blaring on loop in his head. He finds himself bobbing to the beat and mumbling the lyrics as he places down some cards.

"I want you in my room, let's spend the night together from now until forever-" he physically stops himself from cackling as the person continues exploring his bedroom.

Its... not really his anymore, is it? It's not like he can sleep and he rarely ever used the bed even when he was alive, often too tempted to pass out on the couch than stumble up the stairs at two am. The cards still in his hands once more as the smile on his face drops.

He listens silently as the latch to the balcony opens, before he goes back to playing in the dark.

As Emmeline was checking out the bathroom her phone wrang. It was from one of her friends. Well let's be honest probably her only friend. "Hey Ava" she said holding the phone to her ear.

AVA: "Hey are you here yet?" She asked with pure excitement.
EM: "Yeah I just got here."
AVA: "Yay! Do you want me to bring Roco over?" She asked through a shuffling noise and some barking.
EM: Laughing, "Yeah you can bring him over." When Ava had moved to New York a few weeks prior she had left Roco in her care.
AVA: "And pizza?" She asked.
EM: Rolling her eyes and giving a slight chuckle, "see you in twenty"
Emmile hangs up the phone and calls a local pizza place and places her order to be delivered. Stomach grumbling she heads back downstairs to try and get comfortable. Her luggage was sitting by the door, she didn't have much thinking she'd just by anything she needed here.

About twenty minutes later there was a knock at the door. Putting down the book she had been reading on the couch, Em got up to answer it. She was immediately pushed over by her big lovable giant. He barked and wagged his stubby little tail excitedly, Ava was behind him trying to hold his leash. "Down Roco! Down" she yelled outing a strict finger at him.

Five rounds in and Alex was already sick of the black and red cards scattered across the floor. He laid draped over some of the boxes, hanging upside down to stare at the wall with complete boredom. The person downstairs had long since moved on, but he could still sense their presence in the house.

It was odd, but something he'd grown used since his demise, what with all the realtors and investors crawling all over the place in the past year. It always set off this uncomfortable tickle in his brain. Not unlike the feeling you might get when someone was watching you. Somehow, he always knew when someone set foot inside his home. It was almost like Alex was connected to the house itself.

Not that such a thing would surprise him, if he couldn't leave, why wouldn't he also be hyperaware of the going ons inside? He'd long since given up on trying to understand the physics of the undead. At this point, if his body rose up from the grave and somehow found its way back to him, he probably wouldn't even bat an eye. Better to just accept it rather than break his brain trying to comprehend what mortals should never know.

"Speaking of tickles..." he groaned, slumping further against the box in his misery. The itch was back and it was going haywire. And it somehow felt even worse than usual. He had gotten used to the person hanging about downstairs, their aura was easy to ignore, and something he could tolerate for an extended period. But this? This was just plain unpleasant.

Alex shuttered as the other presence filled the house. Their shoes were dirty. How he could tell? It felt like there was mud caked across his arms, and the feeling only worsened as the new arrival continued to walk around. How on earth the floors getting tainted was projected onto him? He had no idea. What he did know what that the month following his death was awful. Nobody had come to clean the home in ages, as the recent death of the owner weirded out potential buyers. The feeling of dust coating his body was something he'll never forget.

He was so, so incredibly thankful when the dealers finally hired some cleaners. He even let them go about their job freely! No japes, no scares, nothing! They were the only ones that got to hang about without a fuss. Well, them and his current realtor. He learned months ago that it was better to try and keep the good ones around if he wanted the house to stay in good condition. The last guy was an ass. Neglected upkeep, booked tours constantly, and didn't really care about what the potential buyers did in the house. Alex got rid of him real quick and he thinks the trade-out was worth it. At least this newer one kept people in line. His previous dealer would let them get away with just about anything but this one? Ohhh she put them in their place.

Alex thinks he'll keep this one around for a while. She hadn't brought a potential buyer around in months. And she had the cleaners come on a regular basis. Nice lady, that one. Shame he couldn't thank her properly.

He rather liked the lead of the cleaning crew as well. Jeremy, he thinks his name was. Yeah, he seemed like a fun dude, someone you could take to a bar with you and count on to drag you away when the parties got too wild. Jeremy was the shit.

Oh, but he had lots of fun with the buyers too. Especially the ones who brought their families. Man, was it funny to watch the parents scream as he tossed stuff around. The little ones never seemed to mind at, hell, some even joined in on scaring off the deal! It was a mutually beneficial relationship: They got to stay at home with their friends and he got to keep the house to himself.

Sharp barking snaps him out of his thoughts rather quickly and he shoots up straight in surprise.

They had a dog?!

Emmeline and Ava enjoyed the pizza in the living room with glass of red wine. This was usually their way of celebrating things and they had done it ever since they were kids. Well without the wine.

Roco was pacing up and down the stairs excitedly smelling everything and going from room to room. Misty, her cat was staying with Ava a little while more just until Emmeline and Roco got settled it. "So tell me" Ava said shifting on the couch to look Em in the eye. "Do you know what happened to the last owner of this place?" Emmeline gave her a confused look.

What owner? She thought. The place looked almost brand new, like nobody had lived here before. Emmeline shook her head and Ava smiled and put her wine glass on the coffee table. "Well I did some digging" she said pulling her phone out of her pocket. This was Ava's thing, research. She was studying to be a journalist at a school near Emmeline's and had always done research before doing anything.

Scrolling through her phone quickly she comes to what she was looking for and hands the phone to Em. Em takes the phone cautiously giving Ava a little worried look. What was on the phone shocked Em. It was an article about a young man that looked to be in his early twenties. There was some information on where he went to school...some of his family was mentioned. But what was really shocking was that he had been shot his junior year. Not just shot but murdered. Em gasped when she saw the address and looked at Ava.

"I know right!" She said taking her phone and excitedly reading it. "Alexis Dean Crowl"she said showing Em. "The murderer was never caught and the case was just all around weird before going cold. What if he's still here?" She asked getting up and taking their dishes into the kitchen. Em rolled her eyes. Ava always had flare for the dramatic. "You know I don't believe in that stuff..." Em said stretching and yawning.
They talked for about a half hour more before hugging as saying goodbye. A ghost? Yeah right Em thought as she closed and locked the door. Not wanting to think of it anymore she headed up the stairs and into bed. Roco came up after her and jumped on the bed curling up at her side. It didn't take long before the jet lag kicked in and Em fell asleep.
