Plot _ - . In the freezing Alaskan Mountains, two rival packs have been at war over food and resources. That is, until the beast that brought them together appeared out of nowhere. - It was early fall when it first started taking wolves. It would catch a wolf alone, on a hunt or patrol, and freeze it. The wolf would be frozen in the middle of what it was doing. It would not move. Sometimes the wolf sensed that something was near, and would turn to confront it. Its' packmates would find it frozed in fear and anger, it's eyes a pale, pupilless blue. Wolf numbers were dropping drasticaly. At one of the peace mettings that the two packs held, they agreed to merge for the sake of their wolves. Not everyone was happy with that choise, but saw no other way to survive. - One alpha from each pack ruled the new pack together, as one. They changed rules. Set up curfews. Made it illegal to venture out alone. At first, the new laws seemed to work. Attack rates dropped, at one point stopping altogether. But then they continued. Adding up until 5 more wolves were gone. Wolves were doubting whether the mountains were a suitable home. They talked about leaving. Wandering out of the cold and into a safe, warm home. Others wanted to defend their territory. Especially the Elders, who were in no shape to travel long ways and who had lived there for a long time. - Arguements broke out, conflicts in which words weren't the only things that inflicted wounds. Wolves were dying, either from lack of food or from another creature. Numbers decreased. More and more wanted to leave. But that was impossible. - Will you stand by the pack, and help it defeat the beast? Or will you watch from the shadows, watching your packmates, your kin, lead themselves to their own destruction?

Setting _ - . The camp of the wolves is in a small, chilly valley surrounded by high mountains. The camp is under a few coniferous trees, seeking out the little shelter there is. _ - . As you enter the valley, a cold wind would sting your face and push you back. The mountains are steep, making it hard to get out of the valley. Yet somehow, wind finds its way. At dusk and dawn, the valley is bathed in a rose and golden light, making these times the most beautiful. There is little to no vegitation other than the trees, causing very, very little prey to come here. _ - . The wolves struggle to survive these harsh conditions. Why they came here in the first place, no one knows. The tips of the mountains are often concealed by clouds. Wolves who are banned, or loners who want to join must spend a night on the very tip. Few survive, but those who do are treated with much respect. _ - . In spring, the snow melts. Small creeks and streams run down the mountains and collect in the lowest part of the valley, forming a small lake. Wolves practice swimming in this time. The waters are shallow, never higher than a wolfs' shoulder. The valley is most beautiful in the sping, but it is still cold. _ - . The camp itself is warmer. Enclosed by thick evergreen trees, the camp is sheltered from most of the elements. The dens are woven from various materials, the pack using what they could find. The nests inside are made of pine brances and prey feathers and fur. In the center of camp, there is a small creek that serves as a drinking spot. When it freezes, wolves lick the snow off their dens to prevent it from leaking through. - We will start in the beggining of the day, it is the middle of fall. The wolves will wake up and resume their daily activities

Sasha | F | Beta - Sasha stood on a frozen cliff, ice cold wind sweeping her fur against the grain. The area was unfamiliar, and to make things worse, a tall, shadowy figure had emerged out of nowhere. It came closer. Sasha could make out rows and rows of teeth, each splattered with blood. The lurker. She opened her mouth to call for help, but no sound came. She tried to run, but her legs were frozen. The Lurker came closer, but when it was about to pounce, everything vanished. Sasha awoke with a jolt and lay panting in her nest of rabbit and caribu fur. She sighed. It was just a dream. The Lurker was gone, but the cold remained. Sasha rolled over, trying to go back to sleep. It was early. And she was in no mood to go out and assign patrols. She looked at her mate, still sleeping beside her. She did not want to wake him. So she would be quiet. Like the camp. The camp was silent except for the wind rattling the trees. Sasha yawned. She could plan patrols from here. But her morning routine forced her to the entrance to her den. Her stomach weighed her down. Not long to go. Dust tickled her nose as she got up, making her sneeze. Sasha poked her head out of her den, glancing around the camp. Even covered in a light layer of snow, she could tell where everything was. Straight ahead, the Warriors' den, right beside the Hunters'. The entrance was to the left of the dens, half concealed by a low hanging pine branch. A bit over, the Herbalists' den. Next to the nursery, and beside that was a small den for the elders. Beside that was the Betas' den, near the Alphas'. No movement at all from any of the dens. But there would be. The wolves usually awoke fast, due to hunger or, like her, a dream. Sasha pulled her head back into her den, still watching the camp. Running over possible patrols, she sat and waited for the rest of the camp to rise. Edited at October 7, 2023 04:15 PM by Bleeding River

Zodiac (M) Warrior His eyes opened slowly, habit taking over his actions as his forepaws stretched out. Rising, Zodiac padded into the clearing as he usually did, settling himself in view of the beta as he awaited his patrol assignment.

Stormrunner | F | Mother ~ "Why, hello there, Moon!" Storm barked as she ran up to her mate. Moon spun around, about to greet Storm, right as Storm leapt into the air, pouncing on Moon. They tumbled across the ground, wrestling, when Moon finally managed to escape. "Hello to-" Moon started "Moon, come on, were going to hunt!" another wolf interrupted. And Moon ran off, without saying another word to Storm. ~ Stormrunner blinked her eyes open, feeling the light of dawn on her skin. Storm sighed, shivering from the cold. She was dreaming about good times, and didn't want to be awake yet. She looked around the den, missing the warmth and comfort of her mate lying by her side. He was killed by the beast only a few weeks ago. "Oh, Moon. How I wish you were here," she whimpered to herself, quiet enough so nobody else could hear her. Moon, her mate, was killed by the Beast just a few weeks ago. Storm missed Moon so much. He never even knew that Storm was pregnant. She was going to tell him, but she never got the chance before he went to hunt and never came back. Storm was two weeks pregnant when Moon died. She regretted not telling him earlier, but she knew that was selfish of her. It was for the better that he didn't know. Or else he would've died knowing he would never see his pups. Slowly, Storm rose to her paws, grunting with effort. Her stomach was getting heavy, and each step took extra strength. She circled around her bed of pine needles, fur, and feathers, and laid back down. "I have a little bit longer," she thought, and drifted back off to sleep. Azalea | F | Hunter | Mentions; Stormrunner, Sasha - Azalea woke up as the rays of dawn filtered into the den. She blinked her eyes open, adjusting to the light of the new day. With concern, she noticed her sister, Stormrunner, and her odd behavior. She decided it was best to just let her lay in, knowing that she was struggling with the loss of her mate. Azalea rested a comforting tail on her sister before heading towards the den exit, careful to not disturb any still resting wolves. - Azalea stretched as she exited the den, some of her joints cracking pleasantly. She took a quick drink at the creek before deciding to head over towards Sasha to see if she might be needed for any of the early morning hunting patrols. The pile was a little low, after all. "Good morning, Sasha." Azalea greeted, dipping her head. "Are the patrols to be set soon?" She questioned. It would be nice to get out of camp for a little, even if there was a small part in the back of her mind that was anxious about the creature that had been roaming around the forest recently. It really wasn't that plesant, especially with winter coming. Seeing how the beast had killed her pack members and how much grief her sister was going through with the loss of her mate caused one of those rare moments of Azalea wishing that she was a warrior instead so she could protect her pack. All she could do for now was make sure that her pack was well-fed and strong. It was annoying, but at least it was something.
