Recently I've been looking into FTM related- things, teeny tiny bit of 'researching', and I don't know if it is something I want to do. I am currently 15 years of age and was born female, for years I didn't have an issue with being female but recently I've been fantasizing about being a boy and secretly wishing I was born male.
-
I'm not sure if it's something I really want to do because it feels wrong in a way and I'm a little afraid. I guess what I'm looking for is comfort...and maybe advice from people who are FTM, like what should I do, what would happen, what should I expect if I decide to do this, would I regret it, how long would it take, how long can I wait, I just have so many questions...

I am not FTM but I do suggest having a good read from this Planned Parenthood article! https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/gender-identity/transgender/how-do-i-know-if-im-transgender
It has a great amount of information and activities to do to help.

If you continue to the bottom it also leads to "What do I need to know about transitioning?"

I wish you well on your journey which ever path you choose! <3

I am not trans just so you know, on the other hand I don't feel strongly about my gender, um I just mentioned that cause while reading about trans people there were some mentioning that gender is something important in their life which makes sense of course since they want to transition, so while I am rather whatever on my gender I do not feel need to connect with or explore my gender.

And since that is kind of my background and I am coming from religious country/community I only find out about LGBTQ+ from the internet (interent has its pros).

About hormones, especially when people are not adults yet, it might seem like a good idea to go on hormons before secondary gender characteristics come in so that will mean less adjustng later in life, but since tranisitioning has been more regulated and accepted in last 2-3 decades there are more information and research on long term consequences of various treatments.

Here is some hormone not-trans related stuff-it has been found that men who used certain female creams like product for skin were infertile while using it cause creams contained some levels of estrogen/female hormone(it makes skin softer and more elastic) that got into their system and was keeping them infertile for some reason-once they stopped using cream they were able to go back to baby making with their parnters as originally planned.

Hashimoto dieasase-whitecells attack thyroid gland and that gland produces and regulates many hormones(most notably ones responsible for growth and day/night cycle aka sleeping so they have trouble sleeping) so people with it have their hormones out of whack unless they get hormones through mediaction.

Maybe not well known, but all humans produce both testosterone and estrogen, just in different quanities, and at 45-55 humans start producing less of those hormones which does mean they age faster and are more fragile, have bodily functions mildy disrupted cause those hormon levels dropped-it is considered safe to give replacement hormones if persons wants of needs.

Birth control pill and after morning pill (they are not the same thing and neither aborts a maybe-baby-or fetus or baby? however you classify it, not the topic here-I needed to mention cause some people don't know the difference and see both as evil killing of life :/ when that's not the case) they both contain hormones to regulate body's hormone levels-most notably they lower estrogen levels in females so ovulation is less likely to happen therefore if there is no cell for sperm to meet there will be no baby after the deed is done. P.S. both cell and sperm can live in female body for a few days, not to mention a female body can release 2 cells at the time.

Stress affect hormone leves too-it is leading cause of infertility.

Sports and trans-it can be a mess and there have been cases of inclusion and prohibition-I think latest news is that those who allowed went back on that idea after seeing some results, concluding that being on hormones for 1 year is not enough to level playing fields-this is bit off topic but just mention how hormones are not alpha and omega of what body is like and how it matters at what ages what hormones play the part. And I am not really a sports person, I think althetes are amazing no matter what they achieve thou they always go for 1st place of course, competitive spirits, and fact is that even within same sex category bodies vary and some have natural advantage over others, but it seems those things are allowed, while trans situation is different, their bodies are different, but it seems like it is found they are too different for some sports or something. I have no knowledge to make a final judgement on the matter ;-; I just feel bad for both sides cause one feels like situation is unfair and other well, they like sport and why should they give up on professional levels for being who they are.

So there, examples of how hormones are not something new and unexplored, but at the same time still mysterious and they can affect bodies short and long term, make sure to have mutiple credible sources and experiences of others before taking them-and don't buy sketchy stuff from internet, get them from pharmacy.

And I do not wish to scare you or deter you if you are trans, but I feel a need to ask to you please check out YoutTube channels or forum threads with detransitioners which is a term for people who started to transition to gender they felt as or were told they should feel like, but somewhere along the way they realized they did not actually want this and wish to return to gender they were assigned originally/at birth based on physical attributes. Their situations are complicated and maybe not at all like yours, but I think it would be worth watching/reading about especially if you want to do some more serious surgeries later on-I knoww people don't jump into surgeries to change their private bits right off the bat as they transition and that some don't feel need to change that at all, that different trans people do different things to feel like correct gender-pronouns, name, clothing, bobs, training to gain muscle or eating more to lose it, voice changer, some facial adjusting.

WP is LGBTQ+ supportive from what I've seen, they helped me learn and there are arts during and outside of pride month and people posting their pronous and orientation and if they are trans- it is still internet so you can't trust everything 100% but I've never seen bullying or discrimination on that basis so yeah, this is one of good places to ask and be no matter what :3

I don't know if you're still looking for advice, but hi. I'm a transman, came to the realization about 7-8 years ago and have been on hormones nearly for 3 years now, and I just want to offer some inside perspective and see if that might help you at all.
  • Questioning your identity is a good thing. Whether you come out of it as trans or cis, it's natural, it's healthy, and it's a good way to figure out what you really want to do with yourself in all aspects of your life.
  • Experimentation is not permanent, don't be afraid of it. If you come to the realization that it is not for you, that is so perfectly okay.
    • I would recommend starting off small. If you're not sure, don't just jump straight into "I think I'm a guy" full-throttle and hope for the best; pick out some people you're close to and try out a new name with them. Have them refer to you by different pronouns and see how it feels. Having a circle of people you can trust to help you feel things out makes things like this so much easier. A lot of people make the mistake of jumping into the whole thing head-first with their peers, realizing later that it is not want they want, and not knowing how to back out or tell people that you've changed your mind. Don't force yourself into a corner. If you don't have an IRL support system, the internet is a really good place to start.
  • Physical transitioning can be really rough, especially if you don't have a strong support system backing you up. Mine has been a breeze by sheer luck, but a lot of people have a hard time getting evaluated, finding a clinic that is willing to help you get on testosterone, and even just taking the testosterone itself can be hard depending on your own personal comforts and stressors.
    • Taking testosterone is going to be hard on your body. It's basically puberty 2.0, and all of the physical changes, mood swings, etc. that comes with it. One thing I was fully not prepared for was the hunger. Dude, you will eat SO MUCH it's not even funny. Testosterone munchies are fucking murderous.
  • Transitioning is not permanent, and detransitioning is not impossible. The changes to your body are reversible, but it's not quite as simple as just not taking testosterone anymore because this can have serious side effects. If you discover that it's not actually for you, that is completely and absolutely okay! But you have to be prepared for the long and annoying process of detransitioning. It's gonna take a while.
  • Remember that HRT is not the only way to transition, either. You do not have to take testosterone to be trans. You do not need surgeries to be trans. You do not have to present or behave a certain way to be trans. Your identity is yours alone, and you are allowed to do what you want with it and present how you want to, do not ever let anyone else tell you otherwise.
I literally just woke up an hour ago so I hope this is at least semi-coherent lol. If you have any questions or concerns or just need a shoulder to lean on, please do not be afraid to reach out to me, my inbox is always open.

Thank you, guys, for trying to inform me and stuff, I've researched and checked out multiple FTM YouTubers for more information. I do believe I am trans, though I'm not making an official call until I'm fully sure; when I told my boyfriend about it he used male pronouns and stuff and it felt nice to have that happen, he supports me either way, and I'm grateful for it. <3

My name is unisex so I would be fine with keeping it; I usually have my friends (and my boyfriend) call me by my online name which is Dusky because it's a name I'm comfortable with most of the time. As for pronouns, I feel fine with all pronouns right now but I'm still experimenting with it.

Being on testosterone sounds like a hassle, haha, I'm already a pretty hungry person so I think I'd be somewhat prepared for that. I'm looking forward to a deeper voice, as for the other effects, I'm not sure how I'd react to that. If I were to do any physical transitioning I think I would do testosterone, then top surgery, and I don't think I would do bottom surgery. I don't think I would start anything until I'm older.
