hi all! i draw canines exclusively, and have for many years. i have the anatomy down, but not the style aspect of it. all my drawings just look plain and don't have anything unique about them (i.e, eyes, coloring, lines). i absolutely adore 'cutesy' artists like @whimbrellic @pinewoIf and @Twisted-Nikki. does anyone know how to achieve a similar style inspired by them? like simplified leg and paw anatomy, expressive faces and eyes, and lots of fur? any tips or tutorials would help! you're also more than welcome to dm me too if you have lots of information! i have no idea where to even start, i've never had a 'style' if that makes sense and i have no idea how to craft one and keep it consistant, so any tips would be much appreciated :,> here is my current gallery to help give an idea of my current style - click

Looking at the three artists, here's details I notice about their style that may help you develope more towards their styles.
Twisted Niki:
  • A great focus on the eyes, with long lashes to fill the face. The eyes are also very detail heavy, and are the focus point.
  • The lines are very smooth and uniform, and their shapes stand out!
  • Also their shines / shades are still vibrant
Pinewolf:
  • Lines are multicolored and varied in size
  • The shines and shades are also very vibrant / colorful.
  • The paws and ears are rounded
Whimbrellic:
  • Again the shines / shades are colored
  • Most of the features (muzzles, paws and ears) are rounded
  • The eyes are much smaller
I'd start with trying to round the features of characters for a more youthful / soft appearance, and using rounded shapes to create poses (given you're confident in anatomy, this should be easier), I'd also recomend try shading with colors (like pink or blue) and experimenting with that to start!
(I will edit this tomorrow and be a lot more helpful, I am just EXHUSTED).

Edit 1: ALSO! Try different brushes, if you use procreate there's a milion and one different brushes you can download, test something new out, you may find i brings out a different style for you. (It does for me, rip my pixel brush.)
