IN OUR FOREFATHERS' IMAGES, WE WERE CREATED… On January 1st of 2018, everything fell apart. It was supposed to be a great day — another hundred and eighteen years since the birth of the last King and the 18th birthday of the new one! On this day, not only would the new year be celebrated, but the coming of another age with the crowning of the new heir. And the new age did come, all right. Not quite in the way they expected, but it came, and it came down hard. When the heir knelt before the altar, expecting the spirit of the previous King to crown them as they had been the one before them, nothing happened. Not initially, anyhow. When movement did stir up in the sky, drawing impatient and excited gazes, it quickly became clear that something was deeply, deeply wrong — for there was not one spirit there to greet them, but four. The spirits laid their curses upon the heir and their kingdom, and the world fell into a panic. Natural disasters raged over the earth, spirits raged through the streets, animals seemed especially agitated, and the world seemed to be running in slow motion. The media was in a panic, and despite desperate attempts to calm the public, the world was engulfed in chaos. Some people claimed it was the end of the world (and many were quite smug about it), some seemed on the verge of an uprising, some were very strongly taking the side of the government in hopes that they’d get enough brownie points to be protected; it was generally a mess. That’s where you come in. The government tracked down the source of the spirits and found threads connecting them to the old bedtime stories and grand, legendary tales telling of Calamities that had sent the world into chaos much like this once before. These Calamities had been sent away using the power of a brave four that sacrificed their own lives to seal them away for two thousand years. With them, they found traces of the four descendants that had been born just 18 years ago and the ones in which these Calamities' power had taken residence. Their research also brought them to another four, descended from those who had sealed them long ago with traces of these heroes' powers in their veins, and you are among them. Now, you've been entrusted with an important task, one that only you can complete — you'll be sent with the uncrowned heir to seal away the issue before it can fester and inflict more harm. Today is your 18th birthday, and it is the day you will be crowned with the power to save the world. … AND IN THEM, WE WILL BE DESTROYED. On January 1st of 2018, it was your 18th birthday. As always, it will be celebrated alone. You’ve come to terms with this. It may not even bother you. Either way, there’s one thing you known for certain — you are one of the most powerful people in the world. Years ago, there were five Pillars that ruled over the earth. Your ancestor was among them. They were benevolent gods who kept order in the world alongside their advisors, who they protected with their lives in exchange for their help with keeping order in the world. The group of immortals and mortals-turned-powerful worked in peaceful tandem for centuries, though states like those never last long; the mortals were bound to get jealous, or perhaps afraid. You’ll never know what their thought process was. It doesn’t matter. What happened next is all the same, no matter how it went. Either way, the advisors had ended up sealing away your ancestors with the aid of a god who had betrayed them, and the world went to shit after that. The chaos was blamed on the gods, and humanity soon became bitter towards them. The final remaining god became the first King, and the advisors, betrayed and discarded by the King, died after having their immortality taken away by the gods’ deaths. After the death of all those who could testify to the gods' true nature, they were ostracized, made to be remembered only in old legends telling of the disgusting abuses of power they had done. You, being born with the powers your ancestors once had, have been similarly ostracized, hidden away in fear of the government. You’ve always known about your roots. The most notable of powers, after all, are always handed down by ancestry. No one else has ever had these except those gods, and you’ve researched it, found out about the only others to ever share your burden — it’s nothing new to you, nothing you don’t know about. You thought you knew what to expect of your future, something dark and bleak that you would never be able to truly enjoy. That quickly becomes clear to be wrong, however, when your ancestor appears to you on your 18th birthday and tells you how special you are. You can change everything. You have the power to manipulate elements of the universe itself. Your ancestor, an actual god, is giving you your goal — perhaps to protect humanity, perhaps to destroy it, record it, escape from it. You’ve been given a genuine chance to come out of hiding, to do something big, to do the things you’ve always wanted, and maybe, maybe, to take revenge on the world itself. Your ancestors are watching you. I hope that you will do as they would. Edited at April 18, 2022 12:22 PM by ThisIsAPackName

— TL;DR (IMPORTANT!) — If you don't have the time to read this entire post but still want to join the roleplay, please read this and take the rest in at your own leisure. It is not easy to read several blocks of text at once, but this is a lore-heavy roleplay. If you're willing to read everything first go, then you can skip this. All of the "villain" characters in the roleplay are inheritors of the powers of the gods who once put the world in order. These gods were called "Pillars", and they each represented an aspect of the world; chaos, order, history, progression and death. When the Pillars were out of wack, the mortals that were close to them -- called their bonds -- would calm them down and make sure their rage didn't destroy the world due to their power. At some point, the progression Pillar (who was also the leader of the group)'s bond died, causing him to lose it and kill all of the other bonds. The chain reaction that occurred cause all of the other Pillars to lose it, at which point the spirits of the bonds took it upon themselves to seal away the Pillars for good with the exception of the leader (whose bond's spirit was simply not present). He soon realized what he'd done and used his ability of progression in order to heal the Earth. The people, not knowing the exacts of what happened, celebrated the leader and elected him their king while scorning the other Pillars, not knowing their original role was to help and assuming that they were nothing but the cause of the chaos that had happened. The leader was too ashamed to correct them, and thus, he became the first King. The King was no longer an immortal god after the death of everyone else. However, he soon found that his abilities were helping the people immensely, so he used the last of his power to make it so those abilities would be passed down so he could continue to help the people. Now, a new heir is to be selected every 100 years, crowned by the spirit of the King before them. It was 2000 years before the spirits of the other Pillars were released. Now nothing but vengeful spirits, they picked descendants to give their will and waited until their 18th birthday to give them their mission. The Bonds, however, were also released on that date, and they, too, chose descendants to give their abilities in order to do damage control. Thus, we're led to the present date, where the "villains" have been ostracized and falsely accused of treachery and the "heroes" are ready to fulfill their goal and seal them away once more. — LORE — Thousands of years ago, five people shared the earth with humanity. They were remarkably average people, in most senses; their most remarkable trait was their passion and will, and perhaps that was the most important trait they could have had. Some of them loved life, some of them didn’t, and yet they all had the determination to continue it. When the world was strange and unrelenting, these people said they would be the ones to better it. With their will alone, they fought against the world, working to become stronger and stronger until they could take fragments from it to share among their comrades. With their newfound ability, they brought magic to the people, giving them all abilities that could make their lives easier. Humanity rejoiced, taking this group as their heroes and gods. Even when they found a way to improve it, the world remained incomprehensible and cruel. The group did not understand it, couldn’t accept it; eventually, they declared they would work more to fix it entirely. Oh, and how they did! They worked, and they worked, and they worked. They each took on the magic they thought would fit them best and attempted to remedy their situation in their own way; one reached desperately to a world beyond for an escape from this one, one looked to the past and the future, desperately searching through every detail for some sort of solution to every single problem that came by them, one enacted grand destruction on the system they existed on in an attempt to see what lies behind it and one desperately protected it, keeping the elements in the world in order in order to keep the people on it safe. And as they worked, fought, researched, and lived their lives, they grew stronger and stronger. They grew strong enough until they could hold the world in the palm of their hands, until they couldn’t grow anymore, and it was then that they found they’d become the very world they wished to change. Yes, they were now gods, in every sense. They were death, they were time, they were chaos, they were the elements, and they were immortal — they each comprehended the incomprehensible, and they each represented the parts of the world that had caused so much suffering. They broke apart at this realization. They raged, argued with one another, fell into depression. For a very long time, these pillars of the world did not love. They could not, not in good conscience. With their falling apart, the earth began to crumble, depending on some sort of stability to keep it together. At the most turbulent time in the world’s history thus far, the pillars did end up finding love again. They found their loves in humanity; people who represented all that they’d loved about their people and all that they wished to protect. Platonic or romantic, the pillars formed bonds that allowed them to accept their roles. It supported them, keeping the group sane as they shared the burden of their newfound immortality, though with that relief came the bonds’ ability to tear them apart if they so chose. For a long time, this skill went unused. They didn’t need to use it, anyhow. The group worked well together, and their bonds worked well with them, resulting in a peaceful reign that lasted centuries. All of them were immortal at the time, gods effectively and entirely immortal through the world's dependence on them and the bonds gaining a similar quality upon the god's dependence. Their immortality, however, was not complete — they could still die from active homicide (though none of them were aware of it, as they… well, never died before then), and this first came to light when one of them turned up dead. The one who had died was the bond of the group’s leader. The leader was a patient character, having been the only one to not lose it when the group’s new roles of upholding the way of the world were revealed. As such, he was assigned the role of the representation of progression, accepting his role and moving on with patience and virtue — traits that were quickly discarded upon the death of his loved one. With the death of his bond, the leader lashed out. In the wake of his fury, the other pillars’ bonds ended up dead. Without them to keep the group in check, they all ended up going berserk; the world was turned on its head, and chaos once again reigned over the earth, even worse so than the first time they were entrusted with the world. In a last-ditch effort to keep them from destroying everything, the spirits of their bonds took it upon themselves to seal away the pillars, sharing their fate in the process. This was with the sole exception of the leader, who, upon realizing his mistake, had begun to use their ability of progression to repair the broken state of the world. The pillars had mainly been keeping to themselves during their reign. Humanity, having not known they were responsible for keeping things in order in the first place, celebrated the last pillar for destroying that which tore everything apart. Too ashamed to explain what had actually happened and too proud to punish themself, the leader simply allowed humanity to believe whatever they were led to. Instead, he attempted to make up for his misdoings by improving the world their now gone friends had left behind. Using the ability of progress, he allowed the earth to heal and regulate itself once again; he gave humanity technology, and he gave them improved architecture and agriculture. With his gifts, he was elected the leader of humanity, giving him the title of King. Without the band of pillars, the King had, apparently, given up his immortality. Noticing that he was aging, he declared that in order to continue his legacy, he would pass down his abilities to a future child. The people agreed to welcome these heirs with open arms, going as far as to make them their rulers in his place. As such, a long line of Kings began as the previous pillars became simple urban legends warning of chaos, forgotten by all, including the Kings themselves. ========= — WORLD (PRESENT-DAY) — The people began counting the years on the death of the first King, which happened to coincide with the birth of the second. All Kings after that died before the birth of their heir, as the next would be born exactly 100 years after their own birth; during the gap between the death and the new child, a "temporary king" that the King elected would rule. That temporary king would also act as the child's advisor until they hit their 18th birthday, on which they would go up to the royal altar, collect the staff and crown of the first King, have the power of the divine bestowed upon them, and then was left to their rule. The current heir (often referred to as "the heir of the 21st century" or more simply "the 21st King") would inherit the land upon the completion of that ceremony. What "the land" entails, however, has changed since the first ruler — the King, being a god and all, was initially made to rule the entire Earth, which soon proved to be an impossible endeavor with time. By the 5th ruler, there were already revolutions and countries were already splitting off; by the 2000s, the King was only personally ruling over the Americas, the majority of Europe (excluding western Russia), and Australia. The King was never known to be a creative man, so the area of his and his descendants' ruling was always referred to by him as "the King's land". The name, unfortunately, has stuck. Heirs are generally made to dabble in the endeavors of ruling before reaching adulthood with the aid of the temporary king. They may continue to be advised by the same person or choose a new advisor as they see fit upon their 18th birthday, though it's expected that they find a new temporary king to carry on for them after their death at some point. The current heir, however, will not get the chance to, whether they had a choice in mind or not — their crowning has been delayed indefinitely, for no one knows when another chance will appear for them to be crowned. Currently, technology and culture are about the same as it is today, as I am not good at any of that shit. Edited at April 17, 2022 08:24 PM by ThisIsAPackName

— SIGN-UP RULES — I. Follow Eve’s rules, obviously. II. I reserve the right to accept or decline sign-up sheets. I will only be accepting people with a good grasp of grammar and… roleplay etiquette, I guess? No Mary Sues or Weeping Willows and all that. Please don’t take it the wrong way if I say you don’t meet that standard. III. Please, write at least two paragraphs in regards to appearance and personality. That should be enough to make sure they’re at least somewhat detailed. IV. At least three major strengths and weaknesses. Make sure that the major ones are equal, but minor strengths and weaknesses can outweigh each other. I’ll tell you if something doesn’t work as a major or minor thing. V. I’ll generally tell you if something’s wrong with your bio, so don’t worry too much about mistakes. If you’re not sure about something and want to check in, though, feel free to DM me. VI. Here’s a relatively arbitrary rule that should work as a codeword — mention how much body hair your character has in your bio. VII. Do it, coward. VIII. You’re allowed one bond and one Pillar, max. IX. Once you’ve had at least one character accepted, you’re welcome to make as many side characters as you’d like. NPCs are important to a world, so there’s no point in limiting it — I’d only request that you make sure that you can handle your side characters, and that if you think one is going to appear in the roleplay often (i.e. a possible love interest, guard, the temporary king, etc.), you make a bio for them. The two-paragraph rule does not apply to side characters. X. Please provide a roleplay example if you plan on asking for a reservation! If your spot is reserved, it’ll last 96 hours; you can request two 24-hour extensions (if you don’t have time) before I’ll open the spot. XI. Everyone has the same birthyear and birthday. Sorry, man, that's just how the lore set it up. If you really want to differentiate your character, you can put what hour of the day they were born, but you don't have to do that. (Side characters are exceptions to this rule, of course.) XII. The abilities given to your characters are very overpowered. As such, I request you find checks and balances for your character -- for example, the Timekeeper may be overpowered by information and attempt to use their power as little as possible from trauma or something along those lines, or maybe have your character just be unable to control their secondary powers because they got them the day of the roleplay. You also have the option to pull the genetics thing I bullshitted and have the magic mix in with that of their family to create something new. XIII. Your character does not have to be the same as or even similar to their ancestors. Their personalities are given entirely for context to your characters, and the will that they give your character this their choice to follow, and it's their choice how they follow them. Your character does not have to initially get along with their bond (especially considering their current goal is to destroy them), nor do they really ever have to do it, and if they do become bonds, the relationship does not have to be the same one their ancestors had. Generally, it's all your choice. The information given is for context and options. You're welcome to be creative and ask questions. ========= — ROLEPLAY RULES — I. Once again, Eve's rules. Also once again, obviously. II. Make sure everyone gets a moment to shine in the spotlight. Inclusion and all that — it’s a group roleplay, basic etiquette, you know how it is. III. No godmodding, don’t hog the spotlight, and don’t insist on winning every fight. IV. Make sure to ask before injuring a character, and obviously ask before killing someone. You don’t have to ask for minor things like slaps or punches, though you probably should, just to avoid hurt feelings. V. Anyone is allowed to change the scene, weather, or time with the permission of other participants in the area. People in different areas can be roleplaying different time frames, so you don’t need to ask them, but do ask about weather if they’re nearby. VI. You don't have to write an incredible amount per post. I just ask that out of what you write, it moves along the plot or is just generally able to be responded to in some manner. One-liners are unacceptable, but writer's block is okay. ========= — NOTES, BUT NOT NECESSARILY RULES — I. You’re welcome to make your characters colorful and have a lot going on in their design. I would be a hypocrite to say otherwise because I also want my character to look fucked up and silly on occasion. All I request is that you have your characters’ stand-out traits make sense (i.e. characters who don’t like attention will not die their hair bright pink the way someone who doesn't mind it could + make sure you have an excuse for any unnatural traits. It's a magical world, so a person's ability can give them extra shit). Beyond that, go crazy, I guess. Have fun. II. Nothing that I say about the character roles and backstories is permanent. If you want to change your character’s backstory or power and make up your own, go for it. I just suggest what I find interesting; you are more than welcome to do the same. III. In relation to the previous note, if you have any ideas for the plot, tell me! This is all kind of ramble-y, not entirely thought through word vomit I made based on a dream I had, like, two years ago, so… it’s definitely not the most solid thing. I will need help with progressing the plot sometimes, making up details, and tying things together. You do not have to help with this, as it’s my responsibility in the first place for making this roleplay, but I’d appreciate it. IV. If not enough people sign up in a month's time, I will be turning up the number of characters one person can have. If there's an egregiously small amount of people who sign up, then it will be turned into a small roleplay between whoever may have shown interest (if the parties are willing), because I have put too much work into this to let it entirely fall flat. — ROLES — PILLARS The pillars are unlike other family trees in that those who inherit their power are not blood-related to them. This, of course, is because none of the pillars have existing blood descendants beyond the King (who only has them sometimes, anyway). The latter would usually use their power in order to decide who the best heir would be and choose a random child born on that day to be the next heir, while the former, having only just awakened, simply chose entirely random vessels from entirely random families. The parents know this, as the spirits had to show up at the birth in order to do this; their reaction to it, however, depends on their character. Usually, power inheritance is a relatively simple thing. Magic would be handed down from the parents to the child, and sometimes, the two magics would mix to create a new one. The more powerful the magic is, the more dominant a gene it was and the more likely it would be passed down to the child unchanged. The Pillars' magic, of course, is the most powerful of the powerful; while there's still a chance for it to get mixed in with different magic and turned into something new if the previous heritage was strong enough, it's in the 1%, at best. That, however, only stands for the part of their magic that is normal. The Pillars, after all, had two sets of abilities; a primary one that they had when they first gave magic to humanity, and a secondary one they got when they became gods. The primary one is powerful on its own, but the godly ability is entirely unable to be changed. The primary ability was given to the descendants at birth, and as their bodies slowly become adjusted to their power, they've begun to resemble their newfound ancestors more and more with age (which is extremely inconvenient in regards to inconspicuousness, but that's beyond the point). Their secondary ability, however, is one given on their 18th birthday; as such, it is entirely unfamiliar to the lot of them. Due to... certain events, the King is the only Pillar who has not received their secondary ability. :: The King :: FORESIGHT: The ability to tell the best option to take of any given choice || KING'S PRIVILEGE: An ability custom-made for the heir of choice that changes by the generation — The King, once the leader of the Pillars, is now the leader of all. Or, at least, his descendants are -- the original King is long dead, though his spirit has lived on over a dozen times over. Grand legends and old songs tell of a man who was the image of patience and virtue. He was said to have been polite, always on top of things and always with a plan. He had a gentle smile and was only harsh when needed or with those who have broken his divine law. Beyond that, records tend to be vague, singing praises of him and nothing more -- though, deep in a very certain library, you may find notes written by concerned friends remarking on a man whose smiles were always distant. Depictions show a man with pale, wavy blonde hair put up in a ponytail and warm, chestnut brown eyes. Out of the many art pieces of him, all of them depict a man whose face screamed of grace with every curve and slope. Specifics of his features vary, though every single one gives him gentle and soft eyes. — : THE KING’S DESCENDANT : Emery Maharaj | Nonbinary | Page #4 | Determined_Wolf :: The Timekeeper :: HISTORY BUFF: The ability to tell the past of any item or person the user touches // PROPHETICIZE: The ability to tell every path the future may follow — The Timekeeper was the lone creator and owner of the most accurate records on the earth and its events before the Pillars were sealed. Somewhere among the grand shelves of his library of records are held possible accounts of the future, provided by his secondary power gained post-godhood - the ability to know all the possible paths the future could go down. Ironically, despite being the one to document all else, he is the god with the least documentation out of them all. From whatever legends that could be dug up, they describe him as an energetic and remarkably nervous man. He had strong beliefs and an incredibly strong will, and his mindset was very much a "the end justifies the means" one where he would do just about anything in order to create the ideal future of the ones he foresaw. Despite an energetic and lighthearted demeanor, his friends told of him being somewhat paranoid, seeming like something was always over his shoulder. In modern legends, he's noted to have been extremely paranoid, having long since lost himself to the overwhelming nature of the constant information streaming into his mind, lashing out constantly to keep from a future that only came to pass from his innerved actions. His symbol, the stopwatch, has become something commonly used to forewarn a terrible fate. In appearance, he was commonly described as having waist-length black hair. Some claim he had green eyes, while some claim they were a startling red -- most accounts, however, sat that one of his pupils took an hourglass shape, some taking the stance that it was the eye he used to foresee the future. He was noted to have been built "thinly", having either towered over most mortals or been shorter than most of the other Pillars, or a mix of the two. Which of these is true, much like most accounts of appearance, is unclear. The Timekeeper's will for his descendant is for them to return the Pillars to their previous glory as a group and reunite them with their bonds as bonds, as well as a secondary request for his descendant to follow in his footsteps and "fill in information [he'd] missed". — : THE TIMEKEEPER’S DESCENDANT : Monika Corvo | Female | Page #3 | Neptune :: The Draconian Lord :: DRAGON SHIFTER: The ability to transform into a dragon || ELEMENTAL: The ability to summon the elements from any given area of the world to the user's heed — The Draconian Lord - also known as "The Dragon Lord", if you want to be less pretentious - was known as an imposing figure of faith and protection among the group. Within the records of the Timekeeper, she was known as strict and remarkably formal by all those who knew her, speaking with grand gestures and terms. She would be the one to uphold order in every sense, ensuring her comrades did not fall out of line while making sure the elements of the earth - fire, wind, water, and earth, the things that she controlled once she gained the abilities of the gods - were in order. Before that, she was simply the protector of all those she held dear, including her friends and humanity itself; a woman who had taken on the abilities of a dragon in order to be the best defense she could. In the records of the modern library, she was said to have been overbearing, often taking riches and people and hoarding them all to herself. They said that she had a cave in which she resided to protect all that which she claimed was hers. As such, the image of the dragon has turned into a legend of kidnapping, hoarding, and greed. Every record or depiction of her appearance said that she was tall with white hair and the wings of a dragon. Some say that she was a beautiful woman, with an hourglass figure and a slender form; some say that she was more dragon than human, built broadly with horns, scales, and spikes all over her body. They say that her white hair would often flow over her face to accentuate the flash of her eyes when she was mad, and that would be the mark of the person's death. The Dragon Lord's will for her descendant is to ensure no innocents are caught up in the chaos of the world, and more simply, that they "find what it is [they] wish to protect and guard it with [their] life". — : THE DRAGON LORD’S DESCENDANT : Alexander "Xander" Cirillo | Male | Pg. #1 | ThisIsAPackName :: The Unicorn King :: COPYCAT: The ability to take the form of anything the user has seen in person || MISCELLANEOUS: An ability to manipulate inorganic material into whatever the user sees fit — The Unicorn King was a sewer of chaos and mischief. Among the five pillars, he's the one whose records within the Timekeeper's library and everywhere else are the most similar - both tell of a man who loved to see how far he could make things bend before they snapped, a man who wanted to know how far from reality things could get. The library takes a slightly more flattering angle to this, saying how he loved to switch things up on a dime to the chagrin of everyone around him just for the sake of it; the legends of the average man say that he loved to brew chaos just in order to watch the people around him suffer. Both, however, agree on the fact that he loved the unexpected and would do anything just to catch a person off-guard. His most common trick was to transform into majestic creatures -- most commonly, the unicorn -- in order to gain the trust of the people around him. As such, thousands of years later, the unicorn has become a symbol of mischief and trickery. The Unicorn King is also the only subject for which the average man's tale is more flattering than the recollection of those who knew him. In legends, he's told to be dashingly handsome, using a lovely face and bright, colorful eyes in order to lure people in; in the library, however, he's said to have been a rather average man with an anything-but-well-groomed goatee and a face dancing with manic energy. Both say that he had short-cut black hair and multi-colored eyes. The Unicorn King's will for his descendant is that they "fuck up things as much as [they] possibly [could]" and that they "burn it all down and rebuild it anew". — : THE UNICORN KING'S DESCENDANT : Petyr Cerill Karlyn | Male | Page #5 | Ebanon :: The Reaper :: TELEPORTATION: The ability to go anywhere the user has already been instantaneously || SPIRIT MEDIUM: The ability to commune with and be possessed by the dead, thus taking on their abilities at the expense of control over the user's body — The Reaper was in charge of passage from one world to the next; from life to what came after. She was said in the Timekeeper's records to be a solemn and quiet person, always seeming far-away, as though her mind were off in another realm. They describe her as having a "solemn, sad sort of empathy", thinking the land of the dead better than this place. She was said to be incredibly sensitive to others' worries, in that sense. Modern legends describe her as a cold-blooded killer, using the scythe she always wielded to give people a sick sort of "salvation" by ending their lives. There are separate legends of the cold-hearted reaper who would whisper the joys of death into people's ears are relatively common, making up an old folklore tale on why people are suicidal. Some even say that she was incredibly detached from reality, wishing for an escape from life so fervently she became a ghost while she was still alive. All of these legends stem from the same character, leading to a general association of scythes and the reaper with death. The Reaper is heavily associated with the color black. In depictions and descriptions, she tends to have a gaunt figure with long black hair and eyes the color of onyx, so deep and dark that if you stared at them for too long, it's said that you would get lost in the underworld. She's generally depicted as being pale and tall, though some art pieces, interestingly enough, say that she was tan from her love of being outside, staring at the sky. The Reaper's will for her descendant is that they find a way to merge the land of the dead with the living and "let the neglected souls of the lost roam free". — : THE REAPER’S DESCENDANT : Michael Shane Evans | Male | Page #2 | the Wayne pack BONDS Bonds, despite how it may sound, do not have any sort of soulmate-like connection to the pillars. They are not naturally attracted to one another, and they are not perfectly made to fit one another. They have no inclinations towards one another in any sense; it takes just as much work for their bond to reform as it is to form any sort of relationship. What their connection to the Pillars is is one where they would be able to support each other, if they were to form a relationship. It's nothing more than that, nothing less - it is that hypothetical ability to support that forms the power of their bond. When it's been successfully created, then the bond may be able to borrow power from their Pillar and be stronger in consequence. Their own abilities will be strengthened, and in return, the Pillars receive mental support. When the bond has been formed, it's only then that the bonds have any sort of power over their companion. Not that any of the groups know that, of course. As far as they know, the ability to seal the "Calamities" away is a birthright. As of the current moment, the King's bond's power has not been handed down to anyone. As such, there are only four Bond roles. Bonds only have a primary ability, though their ability is considerably more prone to genetic mutation than that of the Pillars'. Them having known their ability was from the Bonds prior to the roleplay depends on whether you think their parents would tell them or not. :: The Valiant :: ADRENALINE RUSH: Ability to multiply strength amount based on the intensity of the user's emotions. The effect can also be stoked in allies if the user wishes it and is the cause of the emotion. — The Timekeeper's bond, the Valiant, was the one who made history rather than was the recorder of it. Thus came the Timekeeper's natural interest - what made a person so ideal for writing about, singing about, making art of, being recorded? The Valiant went down in countless legends as a hero, one that starred in ballads and attempted to solve every problem presented to her. While whether she did this out of the goodness of her heart is unclear, she was generally known as the one who'd charge headfirst into situations. The Timekeeper has speculated for her being the one who led the charge that led to the bonds becoming bonds after discovering the wrath of the gods and basically saying "I can fix them". Within depictions, she has fluffy white hair, green eyes, tan skin, and a myriad of bandages on her person. She's usually depicted as flatteringly as possible, with a muscular figure and bright eyes. Whether this is the truth is unknown. — : THE TIMEKEEPER'S BOND : Garvin | Male | Page #1 | Overthink101 :: The Common Man :: NULLIFY: The inability for magic to be used on the user — The Common Man was, quite literally, just like the common man - perhaps that was what made her everything the Dragon Lord wished to protect. Their unremarkable nature was their best feature, in that sense; perhaps in the Dragon Lord's eyes, they were a stand-in for just about everybody. Their sheer averageness was something the Lord was far-off from and had long forgotten, and it was something lovely that was meant to be protected. The Common Man was also the easiest of them all to figure out through text, for their charm came in smaller quirks - records don't talk of general personality, but rather the glint in their eyes when they talked about something they loved or the way they tilted their head for something they didn't. Perhaps, however, that makes them not the easiest to know, but the most mysterious of them all. The Common Man has no records of appearance. It doesn't matter, though, as their appearance will not show up in their descendant due to the nature of their ability. — : THE DRAGON LORD'S BOND : Anniss "Aspen" Ijokre | Female | Page #5 | Ebanon :: The Healer :: HEALING: The ability to speed up wound-mending and infection-fighting processes a hundredfold at the expense of the subject's energy (if too much progress is made at once, the subject will wither and die) — In order to create a healthy balance in growth, there's a need for change to be kept in check lest it cause everything to topple and fall. Perhaps that's why the Healer balances out the Unicorn King so well - following along behind the Unicorn King in order to clean up his mess ended up allowing the both of them to blossom. Records the Healer had written herself give the impression of a gentle soul who was incredibly tired of her job and very bitchy about it, so it's unclear whether she actually got along with her bond or not. The chances are, no. She didn't. The Healer is generally depicted as being a beautiful woman with pale green hair and blue eyes. Her image is heavily associated with hibiscus flowers, emphasizing her beautiful and delicate appearance. — : THE UNICORN KING'S BOND : Seraphina Malock | Female | Page #4 | Noctunyx :: The Lover :: COMMUNICATION IS KEY: The ability to telepathically commune with any living thing — The Lover had a genuine love for life and anything related to it, which is likely why they were found to be the most ideal for grounding the Reaper. An adoration of everything about being alive paired with the Reaper's understanding of and the sorrow of the world, how it drowned her - perhaps neither of them were particularly grounded, both caught up in their images of how life was, but it helped balance one another nonetheless. The Lover is generally depicted as having curly, thick brown hair and dark brown eyes. He's generally depicted with the colors red and green, as they are the colors of the lifeblood behind fauna and flora respectively. — : THE REAPER'S BOND : Asa Shumirova | Female | Page #2 | Lykalo ========= — SIGN-UP SHEET — Items with asterisks are optional. "If you say one more word, I'm going to fucking lose it." = ALEXANDER "XANDER" CIRILLO = - Male // Bisexual // Descendant of the Draconic Lord Relationship with Ability: While Xander has effectively taken full advantage of the effect his ability had on his day-to-day appearance, he's, for the most part, stayed as far away from the actual shifting aspect of the ability as possible due to the danger using it brings. While he still knows how to function and move around in dragon form, inexperience from avoidance means that he is terrible with compensating with how big he is and destroys things constantly, which only leads to him shifting less. It's a vicious cycle. As for the elemental aspect of his ability, having just gotten it, Xander will have little to no clue how to use it and will be arguably even more destructive with it than his other one. He, however, doesn't have the built-in instinct to avoid it that he has with his other ability, and thus will utilize it more freely until shown he shouldn't. Appearance: Standing at 6'5" with a decently built figure, Xander is a person whose presence easily looms over those around him. The intimidation factor doesn't only stem from his height, though -- if not that, he'd likely be found scary because of, say... the horns that rise from his head, or the scales that cover his joints and cheeks that leave small tears in his clothing, just big enough to show flashes of white scale to surprised onlookers, or the sharp, carnivorous teeth, or the pointed ears, or fingers that end in white, inhuman claws, or the slitted pupils, or really just... anything about him. The man has a lot going on. Either way, just one look is enough to get people to either divert their eyes out of not knowing where to look or stare. Hard. Once one gets past the whole dragon thing (which is, admittedly, rather difficult), the next strange trait they may notice is his hair. It's a jet-black color, mostly -- white streaks through it as though he'd managed to age 30 extra years in his 18 years of life. It's cut strangely, too; shorter in the back with long bangs in the front, falling over his face all the way to his nose in a manner that partially blots out his eyes. This works to the benefit of both him and the people around him, though, considering how his face is almost always fixed in a look of absolute, overwhelming rage -- whenever someone catches a look at his eyes, a strange mix of color which makes it look as though someone had put a drop of blue coloring in a pool of stormy gray, stirred once and called it a day, they generally tend to get the impression that he's about to tear their face off with nothing but his teeth. And maybe he is, as far as they're aware -- they're certainly sharp enough, at least. Beyond his draconic and human-but-still-unsettling traits lies a fairly pretty face. Almost inhumanly attractive, actually -- he has thick, arched eyebrows that lie above double-lidded eyelids and thick eyelashes, black with some stray white strands threaded in-between. His face is diamond-shaped with a jawline as sharp as his claws with cheekbones arguably sharper. His lips, thin, are somewhat chapped and scarred from his teeth catching on them. Something similar could be said for the palms of his hands, grooves in them from times he'd clenched his fists without thinking. There are small nicks all over his body from similar situations -- movement is difficult when half of your body has something sharp on it, after all. He can't even lean his head on his shoulder without cutting himself on the plated, armor-ish scales that grow there. Perhaps that's why so much of his tanned skin is calloused, always a bit rougher to the touch than one would expect from a teenager, but a bit softer than one would expect from a fucking dragon. His figure is arguably the most human thing about him. Despite the intimidation granted to him by his silhouette, he does have the appearance of a teenager who hasn't yet grown into his height, or perhaps someone who has but didn't really expect it -- his gangliness is entirely gone, replaced with fair amounts of lean muscle that he did not work for at all, but its remnants still trace his form. It's especially noticeable in the way that he slouches, almost always bending over just so like he's walking through a doorway too small for him -- a fact that only adds to his "looming" vibe, at first, until one looks closer and realizes that he just does it because he is not used to being that tall. He has a habit of bending over or crouching in order to be eye-level when talking to people shorter than him, as well; it's unclear when he got this habit, but he sure has it. In dragon form, Xander's intimidating traits are put into their intended context and increased tenfold. The form is 15 feet tall and steadily growing as he ages, scales pure white and blinding as they glint in the sunlight, almost crystal-like in their translucent qualities. It makes it hard to look at directly, lest the onlooker wishes to permanently damage their eyesight. If someone does manage to look at it, though, they'd find this form has a general ethereal quality to it, spines decorating its back and front in a delicate and deadly manner. Its deadliest and most intimidating trait, however, would most likely be its eyes -- large, slitted, piercing blue things that burn with rage and hatred hotter than anything on this earthly plane and far, far worse than the expression that so often graces dear, dear Xander's human face. Much like his human form, everything about it is sharp, sharp, sharp -- sharp fangs, sharp claws, sharp edges, sharp scales, sharp everything. It has thick, armor-like plates on its joints, helping to protect weak spots while also being sharp enough on the edges to split open someone's skin. It's just generally large, looming, sharp, hard to look at directly, and generally terrifying. ... At least it's clear why Xander looks so like that ordinarily, now. (most likely not going to finish but you get the idea. note: xander's wings did not come in yet and his dragon form is not that big yet, keyword "yet") Personality: Even if you couldn't tell at first glance, it doesn't take very long to realize that Xander has a terrible case of anger issues. He defaults to being withdrawn, keeping his mouth shut and head low. When he's being quiet, his best traits shine through -- mainly his cleverness in the way that he takes advantage of his appearance to rake in money while also keeping people far, far away from him, doing their best to avoid talking to him purely from that intimidation factor. He isn't often forced to talk and he doesn't offer input when it isn't actively sought from him, and what does come from tends to come in as short a response as possible to ensure people know as little about him as possible. Things are the best for everyone, that way; he gets to keep up that public image while also staying safe and others get to look at him and project whatever they want on him. Minimal outside contact, minimal trouble, right? Well, it turns out that growing up walking on thin ice trying not to die causes resentment, and letting that resentment fester results in a feeling of rage you cannot fucking get rid of. His habit of keeping withdrawn from other people festering rage that makes him withdraw even more to make sure he doesn't blow up on the first person who is even mildly annoying to him only makes things worse and worse for him. It's almost admirable, the amount of restraint he takes in order to make sure he doesn't blow up in public -- an attempt that results in his response to most comments being a dull stare as he tries desperately not to blow up at the smallest annoying comment. He reacts to most annoying comments he doesn't want to grace with a response with a death stare. You could even say that he reacts to most things, period, with a death stare. He glares a lot. It's when his anger does actually get out that he starts to get into the realm of impulsivity. It really only happens when he feels safe (which is only when he's alone, as of right now), but when it does, the impulsivity hits hard. Xander moves around a lot when he's letting his personality fully shine through -- scratching his neck when he's unsure or awkward, tilting his head when he's thinking, clenching his teeth when he's trying not to blow up, gesturing wildly and indignantly when he's yelling about something, really anything. None of this is wise when everything on your person is sharp, but he does it, anyway, because he is never wise when he's mad. He's broken entire sets of glasses and more game controllers than he can count because he gripped them too hard -- by God, has he lost so much money out of impulse movements. Not that movement is the only thing he does on impulse -- when he's mad, he tends to just say whatever he's thinking at the moment, resulting in some very blunt dialogue. He also just does whatever he's thinking about at the moment, not thinking of the consequences as he's blinded by his own rage -- he has done some very, very, very stupid stuff while he was pissed off. He has broken a leg and an arm in one fell swoop because he was pissed off. He is so, so incredibly not-wise when he is pissed off. Despite his outward unapproachable-ness, Xander isn't necessarily averse to making friends. Hell, he isn't even against talking to people -- while he's certainly got walls, they were all put up for safety purposes. It really only takes feeling unthreatened -- not necessarily safe, but unthreatened. Incompetency from the people around him also works -- to let him take those walls down and be completely himself in all his rage-filled glory, though actually befriending someone is an entirely different story. The prickliness and unapproachability make it incredibly difficult to get close to him. He isn't made up entirely of thorns, however -- he does have a bit more to him, especially notable in his mischief. Yes, the guy does actually have a sense of humor -- one especially jarring contrasted against the often deadpan and annoyed way he delivers it, but present nonetheless. He is more than willing to be a participant in chaos, as annoyed as he may be when he's the receptor of it. His humor is mainly mean-spirited, in general; it seems like he's just being a bitch, at first, until the recipient takes a closer look and sees the mischievous glint in his eye. He is genuinely an appreciator of humor, and he's at his most friendly when he's laughing at a joke or exchanging banter with someone or setting up a prank. Likes: + Gaming. Helps him get some of the rage out. Doesn't hurt that he's also surprisingly good at it. + + Cooking, since he does it relatively often. + + Spicy foods, especially. + + The rain. He especially likes the smell of it after it's been raining for a while. + + Large, well-lived in living spaces. Ones with a lot of items in them that make it clear that there are people who live there. It's the most home-y thing he can imagine. + Dislikes: - Hypocritically enough, when people do dumb shit. - - Caffeine. - - Loud, sudden noises. They've been the cause of him breaking more things than he'd like to admit. - - Pointing out the obvious. - - When people comment on anything he does (or anything about him, really). - Strengths: + Appearance :: A sort of inhuman beauty is granted to him by his dragon heritage. The farthest he's willing to take this is abusing it for money, as he hates the idea of flirting with a passion, but it sure is a trait that he has. + + Physical Strength :: Also awarded to him by his dragon heritage, he's incredibly strong. As strong as an average bodybuilder, though nothing inhuman due to the fact that he makes no attempt to hone the skill. + + Clever :: He's pretty good at figuring out how to not die, if he does say so himself. :: Weaknesses: - Anger Issues :: Self-explanatory. The man is just pissed off. All the fucking time. - - Impulsive :: His strength comes as more of a weakness in this regard, as he is incredibly impulsive, a fact that often results in him unintentionally hurting himself. While he's been too withdrawn from others in the past to be sure, it's not unlikely that the trait will put those around him in harm's way, as well. - - Unapproachable :: While he's not against socialization, he sure as hell isn't good at it, either. Added to the intimidating walls he's put up, he's just incredibly difficult to talk to in many, many ways. :: Affiliations: TBA Backstory: Needless to say, having a stigmatized ability that also shows up unmissably in your appearance is incredibly fucking inconvenient. It didn't matter, much, when he was a young kid and still had black hair and gray eyes. When his draconic traits started coming in, people still didn't know what was going on and he got to hide his horns and scales under beanies and a layer or two of clothing. It was fine. He was fine. Things started to go downhill when he was in his young teens and these things started getting harder to hide. It was around then that people started getting creeped out by the dragon thing -- after all, everybody knew that dragons were evil, and a man with dragon powers was definitely going to grow up to be a villain. And a strong villain at that -- a terrifying, self-fulfilling prophecy hidden within his claws and teeth and steadily growing dragon form he could take at any given moment. It was around this time that the people around him started whispering about nipping trouble at the bud. It was also around this time his parents told him what'd come to him on his birth, and that he'd likely be sniped by the government someday for it. This portion of his life was the time he had a few realizations. One, his heritage was something that could very easily kill him if he wasn't extremely careful. Two, people do not care if you're villainous if they find your "evil" traits hot. When he was 16, he turned to modeling and social media. He put himself out in the public eye, advertised for his intimidating aura and pretty face. Took on a few jobs that would put his image out there, made social media accounts -- and it worked wonders for him. All of a sudden, his draconic traits weren't considered so terrible -- instead, they were something that made him infinitely more attractive. Putting himself out there also meant he could be monitored with relative ease and couldn't be killed without causing a fuss, so it also meant that he was left alone. So Xander shut his mouth, allowed himself to be objectified, and started resenting. Trivia: - Character was basically inspired by me feeling pissed off all of the time for a while. I wanted to project that onto a character, and here we are. - - In the meantime, I've also learned that writing a character who's pissed off all of the time is really, really fucking fun. - - Lightly inspired by Yoo Joonghyuk from Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint. - - I only shortened "Alexander" to "Xander" instead of "Alex" because Xander was closer to the placeholder name I had and it felt like someone as edgy as he would probably prefer it over the other option, anyway. - - Not necessarily theme songs, but songs that helped me write and figure out the vibe of the character were R/Edgelord by JER and Monet Issues by Chase Petra. Name: Philip Allen Bell Nickname: Phil, Al Gender: Male Sexuality: Heterosexual Role: The Unicorn King’s Descendant Relationship with Ability: Primary: He thinks shapeshifting into anything he's seen is really cool. He once skipped school and walked around as a dog instead. It was epic. Of course, his mom found out that he played hooky (not the dog part, she would’ve freaked), but that’s a different story. He’s a fast learner and owns a creative mind, so he picked it up fairly quickly. He’s learned how to develop his talent a bit more. It used to scare him whenever he shifted (what if I can’t shift back…), but now it’s second nature. He was the best at hide-in-go-seek because all he has to do is become a tree or a bush and rarely did anyone notice that a new tree appeared in the playground. Of course, his mother found out about this and banned him from playing it. She always told him to keep his abilities quiet from the public because they were unique. Luckily for him, none of the other kindergarteners were believed by any authorities. His relationship with his ability to become any object he’s seen before is fun. He was overjoyed to have this ability and likes to play with it. It feels different as he changes shapes. For example, whenever he turned himself into a frog (which only happened once as a cat almost ate him), he felt sort of slimy like a booger. If he turned into a reed, he feels spindly, tender, and very exposed. Secondary: As for his secondary ability, the ability to manipulate matter, he's shut himself away in his room testing things out. There is a good chance that something is gonna break. He might join pottery and/or wielding class (if his mom will permit it) because it'll help him practice creating physical things. He's excited and daydreams of all the possibilities that he has. He knows that his first big project is to make a realistic dragon or unicorn sculpture. Right now, he's playing around with lizards and ponies. None of them look good. Appearance: He isn’t very tall, but he isn’t a hobbit. He stands at the common five feet ten inches. His weight is 157 pounds, reflecting his height in a healthy manner. He’s built like a straw, however. His ectomorphic refused to build anything from whatever torturous activity PE had in store. He barely didn’t graduate high school in want of PE credits. Eventually he joined the track team and was average in it. Several times he said that he was going to die and several times he half believed it himself. His stomach is mainly squish because he isn’t an avid runner. His arms are twigs and a pie would be more useful in a fist fight. They actually leave a mark if thrown. He has two blue gems for irises that are set in a white almond carving. If inspected closely, they look like an ocean and the sky right before a storm. There are flecks of grey in the mix. On his right eye, around his pupil, there is just a slight slur of a pale yellow. As if his eye was a watercolor painting and someone had accidentally dripped a watery drop of yellow onto it. It is blended well into his blue, so it even looks like the artist tried to cover up the mistake. Above them are two dark bushy brows that don’t really curve. They more are just two hairy streaks on his face. His head-hair is a dark chocolate brown and not quite a rich black. He needs to go to the barbers or at least brush it some. His hair is usually greasy and slick looking because that is exactly what it is. It’s also always messy. He doesn’t really do anything with it. Whenever it is getting long, as it is now, he just brushes it out of his eyes. Right now it’s creeping a bit too long down his neck and peering into his eyes. His hair grows quickly and whenever he takes a shower, a thin layer of it covers the drain. His pits usually have some hair, it grows too quickly for him to keep it shaved. He doesn’t mind this and he doesn’t care. His mom makes him because she thinks it’s disgusting. He has a little bit of something growing on his lip and he doesn’t mind it but nor is he excited. He does hope to grow out a long white mustache when he’s an old man. He has some chest hair, but not a lot comparing to a lot of other guys. Some people got hit by an 18 wheeler, but he got hit by more of a mini-van. His facial shape is triangular and his cheek bones are not prominent. His nose is firmly planted on his face and slightly hooked, the bridge is prominent but not bulgy. A light layer of freckles dot his cheeks and nose. His lips are thin but existing. They are a pale coloration and are usually dry. His skin is usually oily and he has terrible acne. He already has some light scarring on his cheeks and brow. His mother ushers him to use the cream she bought him for it, but he neglects his face a lot. He doesn’t mind it. His skin tone is paler than a light penny color, but is different than the average caucasian. It’s just a bit more olive and slightly darker. This is because he is one-fourth asian. Attire & Accessories: He’s a rather practical person. There is no need for earrings or any sort of jewelry. He’s a summer person so whenever the weather suggests a warm day, he’s in his shorts and a t-shirt. When it is too cool for shorts, he’s in jeans and usually he doesn’t change his shirt. Just put a hoodie on. His shirts are usually solid colored and stained with either dirt or fruit juice. His hoodie is a nondescript black. His shoes are tennis shoes that are getting worn out. Although he’s from a middle-class family, he doesn’t like it when his mother buys him a new shirt when he has plenty of them at home. He has black glasses, which are bowline framed. His spare is almost identical. He is usually with his backpack which is a dark grey with black highlights. He always has a water bottle in the side pockets. The contents are a sketchbook, pens, wallet, the current book he’s reading, a laptop, glasses cleaner and his spare pair of glasses. Then, of course, there is some school books as well. Personality: He owns a creative mind that is strongly right brained dominate. He barely passed arithmetic in most all grades. He can do the basics, but anything else he’s fairly dead at. He wasn’t too bad at science, but that’s only with general science and biology. The module about fungi actually spawned a story idea about aliens. He never did it, but his fictional planet helped him pass the test. His mind thinks of rather weird stuff and he draws most of it. Like what if the moon was a block of cheese, and what if I’m someone else’s character, what if I’m a book? His mind also has a tendency to wander. He is artistic, but not well enough to sell it. Nor is he willing to sell it, his drawings represent his mood, his past and his thoughts. To sell them would be like selling himself. He is a writer who spends his weekends at the local coffee shop, Sweet Brewers, supping on a warm cup that is more sugary milk than coffee. He’s not done yet and he’s pretty sure that he won’t ever be able to publish it because it would bring him attention. Even if he did use a pen name. A desperate hunter could probably find him. He still writes because he is a dreamer and because he feels like he has to keep on creating. In short, his current story is medieval based and is about orphans on a living isle. He has a thing for animals. They are curious things who do funny, interesting and disgusting things. The majority of them seem very nice and chill. They have their unique personalities and such. Plus, he can be an animal and see how it is like for himself. One time his parents took him to the aquarium and so he has seen penguins, whales, dolphins and fishes of all sorts. His family always go down to the beach for summer vacation and he likes to swim around as a fish so he doesn’t need to go up for air. He’s never gone so far that he could be one, but one day he’d like to be a blue whale. Perhaps this is another reason why he likes summer. He is a dreamer and a part of him has always dreamed of seeing dragons and unicorns. The unicorns for his own name sake. Dragons are just really, really cool. He thinks that it would be really awesome to be one. He’s a rather submissive character and he’ll roll over to anyone more dominant and confident than himself. Not that he is an utter mess and a complete underdog. However, it’s more likely that he’ll run rather than fight. He’ll most always choose the easy way out. He could be considered a coward. He doesn’t like that word. His entire youth has been filled with epics of courageous heroes and heroins saving the day and he’s always wanted to be like that. Unfortunately, his nature is filled more with self-preservation rather than selflessness. He still likes to play with the thoughts that he is hero material. The times where he will grow a backbone are when he’s not thinking. He is a huge over-thinker and thinking about death or getting hurt will almost always result with him chickening out. If it is instinctive or he is full of rage or passion, then he’ll go for it. The only thing that overrides this is his curiosity. His curiosity is strong and when it is up and running, it is running until he is satisfied. A good example is when he had skipped school to be a dog. He likes drama. He likes to watch it and even if it was super obvious, he’ll still freak out. He hasn’t really had any squishy lovey-dovey drama for himself. He does wonder how it feels to be there, but it’s not one of those things where you could just experience it. If it were, he would’ve tried it. He is sick of the you-might-die-tomorrow drama. So far, it’s all he knows and he would really like to experience the average joe’s life. He doesn’t like action movies because it’s too real to him, too. He can be overreactive because he wants some other type of drama. He’ll squeal if he sees a lizard as if he hadn’t seen one before. If he’s with the right people, he’ll pretend to faint because a store changed their sign. How much he’ll overreact is up to the people he’s with. Alone, he still can overreact, just not as bad and not as long. He’s not like this all the time, but be aware as he does exist like this. He is a geek. If you are apart of any of his fandoms, he’ll definitely freak out. Alone he is fairly weird. He’ll talk to himself and hum whatever tune is in his head. He could be doing any of his favorite activities, such as writing, drawing or practicing his shifting. He likes to see how fast he can turn into animals. For example, he’ll set a timer for fifteen seconds and see how many animals he can be during that time. So far, his record is five animals. Six if you count changing half-way when the timer goes off. With other people, he can still be fairly weird. He’ll ramble because he’s nervous to be in front of people. He’s not like this online. Online he is a normal human being. This is because there is the delete button and he can think out before he speaks. He’ll slowly reveal more of himself the more he’s comfortable in your presence. He is kind whether you are a stranger or a friend. He’ll randomly wave and smile at you even if you barely know him. He’s a friendly person because he wants friends. He destroys when he is upset. He looses control and throws things across the room and he breaks his pencils and rips his drawings. He tears fabric and he screams. He likes to twist apart stress balls so that they crumble apart. If he had a match or a lighter, he would burn paper and watch it fade into ash. It all ends with him sobbing on his bed trying to tape back together masterpieces. Whenever he is like this, it is usually because he is frustrated or stressed. It always ends in remorse. There is a very sick side to him, though, that enjoys destruction and breaking things. He won’t admit it, however. He’s scared of the dark joy he feels when he is surrounded in the stuffing of a foam ball. So he makes sure that he keeps it under wraps. It’s a matter of time before his binding breaks, however. Likes: Warm weather Animals Country Music Beef Cherries Dislikes: Sports Action movies Math Apples Watermelon Strengths: Creative—he’s a maker of worlds and stories. Hopefully his creativity can help him out of some situations later on… Curious—both a positive and negative thing to have. His can be either, but he likes to see it as a strength. Optimistic—it’s not a weakness to hope for a better future or for something good to happen. It’s actually quite brave to dare hope. Weaknesses: Coward—you’re stuck if you need him to run into a fire for you or do most anything that risks his life. Physical—he hates running, he hates fighting, he hates exercise. He’s not the fittest in his natural form. Overthinking—this is a good main cause of his spinelessness. If he thinks about doing something remotely reckless, he’ll chicken out in the end. She’s constantly worried that her son will be killed so she keeps him inside their house most of the time. She barely lets him go to Sweet Brewers. Backstory: Not too much to say. He was born. |~| Garvin |~| Name: Garvin. Gender: Male. Sexuality: Aliqua-Androbisexual. Ambiamorous. Role: The Valiant’s Descendant. Relationship with Ability: His ability was slightly mutated, instead of only strength being affected it’s agility, stamina, flexibility, tension, alertness- The stuff that adrenaline can affect that isn’t just strength. The strength of a person can still be increased, but never at the same level that the ability once had been able to. -- When it comes to how good he is at using it… He’s only learned how to use it through trial and error, learn as you go type of stuff. Experiences that if he didn’t learn then it could’ve ended up badly for him. And as for how he feels about using it? Oh, he’ll use it whenever. He has no qualms on it, he sees nothing wrong with it. It’s his ability, so he’ll do as he likes with it. He does tend to be a bit more on edge whenever he’s using it on a smaller scale for himself, which he doesn’t exactly mind. Honestly, he quite enjoys using his ability, it can make for some exciting things happening. And it definitely helps his ego, not that he needs any more of that. /~/ Appearance: Garvin stands tall at a haunting 6’ 5”, usually hunched to a 6’ 3”. His skin tone is a pale fair color(a bit more on the tanned side though, given how much time he’s spent in the sun) with cool undertones(mostly greener ones due to his terrible habits), only adding to how pale he is. He has freckles practically everywhere on his body. Quite honestly, his skin and hair have a layer of dirt and grime that he’s sure wouldn’t leave even if he washed and washed. -- Garvin has a rather oval face shape, meaning he has a smaller forehead and a smaller chin, but the middle of his face is wider, the whole thing on the longer side. His cheeks are rather gaunt despite it. Now for the nose, something that Garvin rather likes, he has a hawk shaped nose, meaning it starts off the same way a ‘normal’ nose would, and then goes off the deep end at a slight angle, the tip of it a bit lower than the nasals. His lips are thinner in shape, and smirks his most often seen expression. Well, those and his signature Garvin grin. Which is basically just a grin that no one can ever tell whether or not it’s sincere. -- His eyebrows are rather thin. Despite them being thin and rather straight, they have a slight bush to them towards the end which gives them the illusion of an arrow pointing upwards. Finally, his eyes with deep, heavy eye bags underneath them and usually bloodshot, (and whether that be from lack of sleep or his unhealthy habits, is unclear) are a deepset hooded shape and dark gray in color, which he is glad for. Because if he had green eyes with his freckles and red hair, he’d certainly huff and puff unhappily(sarcastically, of course). Unfortunately though, his eyes have gotten a green tint to them recently, especially around the pupil, which he’s ever so slightly resentful about. His face is framed by unruly and wavy, almost to the point of curly, red hair. Firey in color, though more on the gray side of the red hair spectrum, that is most oftenly messy and in his face, the tips of all of it going just below the ears in length, the back going down to the nape of his neck. It’s gotten a lot fluffier than it used to be, he’s noticed, which is kind of weird to him. -- His body structure could quickly be described as rectangular, a long torso matched with long legs, everything about him screams lanky. Especially when taking into consideration the fact that this man only weighs in at around 150 lbs, his BMI at 17.79 and being underweight by 6 pounds. Most surprising about his weight, is that most of what he does have is muscle, otherwise he'd probably be way more underweight than he already is. When it comes to body hair, Garvin doesn’t have an insane amount- Just about average for his age and circumstances, honestly. He also has a few tattoos of vines that go across his knuckles. -- As for scars, he possesses many. From scars on his back and shoulders that look like they’re from whipping, to burn scars on his legs, to cuts on his arms, to a singular one that looks like a slash across his neck. He’s covered in scars. In fact, the only places that don’t seem to be covered in scars are his head and hands. And even his left hand has a small scar of a cut across his palm. And both hands have tiny scars all over, which are both just extremely calloused too. He also has a few cigarette burn scars on his arms. -- As for clothing, he’s usually wearing a red and black flannel(a bit torn up, a few of the tears having patches though not all) over a white shirt sleeve t-shirt. His pants tend to be ripped, baggy black jeans that have quite a few patches, with his shoes most often ending up as boots with buckles, one of the buckles on his left is broken. He also wears a dark gray trench coat most of the time, with a few old stains and tears. And when it comes to accessories? Fingerless gloves made of gauze that he’s wrapped around his palms and up to his elbow, several rings(all bands) that he wears on whichever finger he ends up putting them on that morning. -- And then there’s piercings. He has a nose piercing(nasallang piercing), a few different ear piercings; multiple lobe ones(both ears; 5 left and 4 right), a helix piercing(left ear), a tragus piercing(both ears), a flat piercing(both ears; 2 left and 1 right), a lobe piercings(both ears), and an industrial piercing(right ear). Lastly, he also has a mouth piercing, a spider/viper bite piercing. Personality: To say that Garvin is a generous and modest person would be like trying to say that a sydney funnel-web spider is a harmless spider. Because in all actuality, Garvin is arrogant and prideful, not to mention extremely greedy and selfish. Though this may come from the fact that he grew up on the streets, so to be fair, most of his boasts are well deserved. Regardless, he still has a huge ego that can and will intimidate opponents. Not to mention his sharp tongue that’ll spit insults like there’s no tomorrow. -- Despite his arrogance and sharp tongue, even despite his greed, when faced with kindness, this man immediately becomes awkward and confused. Stammering and eyes darting with suspicion as though he genuinely believes that no one could possibly be kind without any ulterior motives. He also is quite reckless, often getting into trouble with either authority or fellow people. Many times because of his own lies collapsing on himself. -- If you manage to become his friend, well, first off, good job. And second, you will find quickly that he’d much rather him die than them, though this may also be because of his nihilistic nature. Nevertheless, he’s still a great friend. Someone’s being mean to you? He’ll probably have a few words for them. Would he actually fight someone though... Not unless the other started it or if he was just that mad, he prefers to keep violence as a last resort. Though he’ll gladly carve into the school walls for his friends, quite literally. -- Food and money is the way to the guy’s heart, apparently. Though he’s a hopeless romantic in all actuality, just the thought of someone that doesn’t care how he is, just the thought of being able to be himself is something he dwells on for long periods of time. And this is probably due to how fake he acts, always loud and arrogant, always showing off and getting into trouble... But never actually being him. The insecure and nihilistic boy that doesn’t understand why no one ever wanted him. -- Despite his obvious ego and nihilistic views, he absolutely fears being forgotten by the people he cares about. Not only does he fear it though, he expects it to happen. If he were to talk to someone about it, he’d talk about it as if he’s accepted the fact. But he’s terrified of it nonetheless, he doesn’t want it to happen, he just knows it most likely will. -- He’s also someone that tries to trick himself into believing that he’s fine. He’s someone that tries to be an optimist in front of others but always ends up being a pessimist literally anywhere else. -- Despite the fact that he lies… A lot… He values honesty from others. Especially from those he considers friends. It doesn’t mean that he’ll be honest with them, but it does mean that if they know something or learn something that concerns him in any way. That’s his business in any way. He doesn’t want to be kept in the dark. -- He tends to show himself as a confident, talkative prick; as mentioned in the first paragraph. As you probably have realized though, this is false. This is nowhere near to the truth. Now, you may remember me mentioning insecurities. And this is where I shall explain those and how they manifest. -- The first(and biggest) insecurity is that he is going to die and no one will even notice, and that no one will even care if they do. This is connected to that deep rooted fear that I mentioned earlier. Just like the fear, he’s accepted that he will die someday, and that when that day comes… No one will notice, no one will care, no one will cry or shout or deny. It will happen and there will be no consequences to it at all. He tries to not let himself think about it too much. -- The second insecurity, and one that plays into the first one, is that no one wants his company more so that they want him to do something that needs to be done for them. Something that he’s noticed in the past is that as soon as he’s done with a job or favor or promise, the person immediately drops all contact with him. So trust and actual deep connections with people are not something he has. -- The third insecurity I’ll be explaining is the last one(Well, it’s not his last one, it’s just the last one I’ll be talking about.) He knows he seems talkative and loud most of the time, and he knows that that’s what people expect of him. And he thinks that since that’s what people expect of him, that that’s what people want from him whenever they hang out with him or talk to him. /~/ Likes: Sleeping/Napping, Winning, Music, Money, and Food(If only there was a love category). Dislikes: Large Crowds, Small/Enclosed Spaces, Being Completely/Utterly Alone, Going Hungry, and Losing. Strengths: Aim, Playing 12-String Banjo, Stamina, Lying, Stealing, Flexible, and Observant. Weaknesses: Loud, Physical Strength, Paranoid, Swimming(He can’t), Nihilistic, Awkward/Insecure, and A Bit Selfish. /~/ Affiliations: Fin; In all honesty, he doesn’t actually remember her name. Just his nickname for her, Fin. Fin was alright though. She liked the ocean and her actual name was probably similar enough for him to come up with the nickname. He worked with her for a bit, six months, at an animal rehab center until he was fired. Not all that surprising. She did try to get him to stop smoking, which didn’t work. The two got along pretty well though, she didn’t absolutely hate the nickname anyways. So, all in all, one of the better coworkers he’d had over the years. Not the best, that spot’s reserved for the sailors. But still, she was nice to be around while his job lasted. He almost regrets not saying goodbye to her when he did leave, almost. -- Open to practically anything, just PM me. Backstory: When Garvin was young, extremely young, about 1 years old, kind of young… He was abandoned and put into an orphanage. The orphanage wasn’t… Terrible, per se. But for the years he stayed there, he’d managed to get into trouble which was always met with being told why his parents left him, and some kind of punishment that just made him resentful or strengthened his resolve to keep making everyone’s lives hard at the orphanage. The reasoning he’d always been given for being left, was just that his parents didn’t want him. That he wasn’t good enough for them, or anyone for that matter. The reactions he got from potential adoptive parents was enough to concrete the idea that they were right. -- He was kicked out of the orphanage when he was 6 years old, though he’ll always say that he ran away if it’s brought up. He’d gotten into trouble again, and the orphanage had had enough of him. The caretaker of the orphanage had lost her temper, taken something way too far, and he’d been kicked out as they screamed of how no one had ever or would ever want him. -- He’d been able to find a place to stay, luckily. With someone who basically offered him food, water, and shelter in return for service in a trade that being smaller was better for. A lot of the burn scars on his arms and legs are from this part of his life. Those, and ones where it looks as though his skin had pulled off due to climbing and scraping. He stayed with this person until he was 10, when he was kicked out again because he’d gotten too tall to be of service. -- He’d found other work and basically just did whatever he had to do to survive. His ability made it easier for him to do so, especially when it came to pickpocketing people or shoplifting what he needed. Or running when he figured he was in over his head. -- When he was 13 though, he did try and settle into work with some local sailors of a town he’d hitched a ride to. He’d been forced to leave though when it was found out he didn’t know how to swim. It was a bummer, honestly, since he’d enjoyed it. It was where he’d learned to play banjo and had picked up smoking. He was 15 when he had to leave, they’d been concerned about his well-being when they’d sent him off though, so it was better than the other places. -- He’d hitched a ride to a random city, and started using mostly just banjo playing, pickpocketing, shoplifting, and random freelance work to survive. It became a pretty standard routine, actually. He never stayed in one place for too long though, since the pickpocketing and shoplifting ended up catching up to him a few times. -- When he was 16 though, just a few months on until 17, his banjo had broken and he’d had to dump it since he couldn’t really afford to fix it. Late 16 to early 17, he managed to get a job at a center after finally giving in when a stray cat simply wouldn't leave him be. He was fired after about half a year. So, he’d leaned into freelance, pickpocketing, and shoplifting as of recently. /~/ RP Example: https://wolfplaygame.com/forums.php?f=20&t=77547 https://wolfplaygame.com/forums.php?f=20&t=79296 https://wolfplaygame.com/forums.php?f=18&t=71641 Activity Level: On weekends I’m basically always online, during school hours I pop on every once in a while throughout the day and am on consistently once I get home. Basically, I have no life and thus can be on here a lot. I’d say a 7-9/10 just because of the few things that do cause me to go offline. /~/ Trivia: His voice is on the higher but deeper end of the spectrum. It’s gravelly and smooth. It used to be higher pitched and smooth, but given everything, it’s become deeper and gravelly; scratchy. It’s still higher pitched, just more rough sounding. Screechy wouldn’t be a good way to describe it, but if it was the only way to describe how raw his voice is, then it would have to work. His voice sounds hoarse, raw, and raspy, to put simply. He also doesn’t tend to put too much effort into dictation, so a lot of his words end up sounding a lot less clear than they should be. -- Garvin’s penmanship, quite frankly- Is terrible. It’s barely legible, even to him. But that’s when he writes fast and for long periods, if he’s writing something slower or something short then it’s a bit better. Still not the best, but it’s definitely more legible, at least. -- If he could afford it, he’d have even more piercings and tattoos. But he can’t, so he’s settled on being fine with what he does have. Same for a new banjo, if we’re being honest. But as of now, he’s more concerned with staying alive. -- He carries a swiss knife on his person at all times, given you never know when you’d need one- He says it’s quite nice to have it. It’s also quite nice to know what all is edible in an area, or at least edible enough to not die from eating it and to stave off starvation for as long as possible. In his own humble opinion, of course. -- Despite being a liar and a thief, he tries his best to keep promises. He hates promising or swearing that he’ll do something and then not doing it. It honestly gets on his nerves when he has to do so. -- He recommends to everyone not to eat a dead, unwashed, uncooked bird that’s been lying on the ground for days unless they have to. Same for a raw, dead rat that’s soaking wet from rain. -- Garvin has a persistent cough that won’t leave, which he’s had for practically a decade now. He’s gotten used to it, and it’s more of a slight annoyance than anything else. -- His mental state is nowhere near stable, if we’re being honest. Trust issues, self-depreciation, insecurities that run so deep at this point that he doesn’t even realize he has them until someone pokes a sensitive area, touch starved, an apathy that he deals with by getting into even more trouble than he already did before, tension in his shoulders and back from needing to stay alert more than most, insomnia and near constant exhaustion for the same reason… Honestly, he’s a mess. A functional mess, sure, but still a mess. -- Garvin has a certain grin he does a lot, one where you can never be sure if it’s genuine or not. It doesn’t normally matter how good at face reading someone is, even some of the best gamblers he’d met hadn’t been able to tell. But everybody knows it’s basically his signature, you see it and know it’s him immediately. Doesn’t matter how long you’d known him, it’s almost for certain you know the grin. Other: I think he’s done now, but do go ahead and tell me if there’s anything I need to change. Edited at June 16, 2022 06:32 PM by Overthink101

ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to the realization that asking people to make entire forms that showcase literacy in two days is probably unfair, considering I can hardly do it, myself, I'm going to extend the initial reservations to four days (or 96 hours). You can still ask for a 24 hour reservation twice if need be and you can cancel at any time. To those who already have a reservation, take your time. There's no need to rush.
