Muse A is an ambitious journalist driven by the desire to expose the truth and secure a legacy as a game-changing reporter in the world of journalism. Amid this pursuit, they come across and dive into the world of a secretive international crime syndicate. Muse A's reckless chase of life-changing story material leads them to the mercy of Muse B, the head of the snake Muse A has been trying to both uncover and expose. Rather than killing Muse A, Muse B instead takes Muse A with him to his estate in a foreign country where A becomes a firsthand witness to the cruel beauty of Muse B's world - where trust is a weapon, survival demands sacrifice, and love is the deadliest game of all.

Full Name:

Cesare Valerio Lascaris-Cardinale

First Name Pronunciation:

{CHE-sah-rey}

Gender:

Male

Age:

27

Nationality:

Spaniard/Italian

Birthday:

January 12th

Appearance:

Cesare is a tall, slender man at a height of 6’3 with a figure that is well-balanced with the composition of both toned muscle and dexterity. Considering his heritage, the vast makeup of Cesare’s appearance is a curious paradox - medium-length, neatly kept dirty blond hair, hooded blue-green eyes, long thick lashes, strong nose, and full lips. The greatest callout to his heritage is the beige, sun-kissed hue of his complexion that is more warmed than not most of the year. The general impression of Cesare is not merely isolated to his attractive appeal but extends to that of how he carries himself and the demeanor he projects. To most onlookers, Cesare is a lax yet undeniably confident entity - charming yet exuding an air of mystery. Being caught in the snare of eye contact with Cesare is perhaps the most disconcerting aspect about him. He’s a difficult creature to read but has the ability to effortlessly appear as if he’s looking right through whomever has his attention. A simple, thin smile as a dismissal from his stare is generally all it takes for an impression of uncertainty to dissolve. A smirk on this man’s lips, however, tells a different, more dangerous tale. His accent is a pure but soft expression of the Spanish region he primarily grew up in - present enough to notice, not thick enough to be harsh sounding. Cesare also happens to be a well-dressed man for any and all occasions, even having a unique knack for making even more casual wear appear formal. While not consumed with ornamentation, Cesare does consistently wear a silver ring engraved with a few-word phrase on the inside only significant to anyone in the Cardinale family as a treasured heirloom.

Personality:

Charismatic ➹ Stoic ➷ Loyal ➹ Risk-Taker ➷ Cunning ➹ Two-Faced ➷ Witty ➹ Honest Liar ➷ Patient ➹ Indifferent ➷ Unwavering ➹ Astute ➷ Manipulative ➹ Controlling ➷ Dangerous Temper ➹ Fearless ➷ Eloquent ➹ Versatile ➷ Realistic ➹ Hard-Worker ➷ Restless ➹ Detail-Oriented ➷ Emotionally Detached ➷ Opportunist ➹ Assertive ➷ Protective ➹ Bold ➷ Extroverted ➹ Calculated Optimist ➷ Curious ➹ Ruthless ➷ Unforgiving ➹ Ambitious ➷ Vigorous ➹ Sarcastic

Family:

Elisa Lascaris - Mother

A loving but critical and equally hardy woman, she has carefully and purposefully overlooked the darker deeds responsible for her otherwise bright and vibrant life. While also a woman known to be difficult in simple terms, she is nothing short of devoted toward her children and her husband and someone Cesare treasures dearly.

Ines Lascaris - Younger Sister

A fickle, arrogant young woman who is nothing short of acutely irritating to Cesare, but nonetheless loved. She primarily resides in Paris, France, as an up and coming model, and rarely visits family unless it's for favors, money, or to find refuge from her own dramas and indulging herself in someone else’s.

Nilo Lascaris - Cousin

Nilo is both a perfectly complex and relatively simple person. While not much younger than Cesare, he has invested himself into being Cesare’s blindly loyal shadow and his closest confidant. He’s anything he is ultimately needed to be as a young man with a variety of trades and skills, but most notable is how disarmingly modest and gentle-natured he appears to be. Not to say Nilo isn’t as innocent as he looks at times, but he most certainly is not pure of committing dirty deeds either.

Stefano Cardinale - Father

A man who has always been few of words but many actions. Tough love is the kind of care Stefano led with as a father, and he was even tougher as the leader of an expanding syndicate. The name of the game has always been to ultimately keep the family name clean, or at least to a degree of reasonable doubt, and that has been the greatest priority in the business bestowed on Cesare. These days, Stefano - while still recognized as the primary head of operations to those close enough in the syndicate's dark circle to know the Cardinale family - is realistically living out his remaining days on the southern coast of Italy with Elisa. It has been an effort to carefully conceal the man’s rapidly dwindling health, and even harder to have thrust the bulk of responsibility onto Cesare with little warning despite the continued efforts for damage control and maintaining stability.

Constantine Vali - Uncle

An elitist dwelling in Germany, Constantine is a revered weapons manufacturer with contracts acquired from both foreign and domestic militaries and various private security firms across the globe. While distanced significantly from the Cardinale family's illegal affairs, Constantine does provide both weapons and monetary investment through laundering to the syndicate when needed. Only with the rapidly declining health of his older brother has he attempted to be more at Cesare’s beck and call for favors, Constantine is still largely an isolated, enigmatic creature poised to maintain his image and occupation.

Family Background:

Lascaris:

Bastard line of the Spanish Royal Family - acknowledged and respected nonetheless and holds moderate influence in Spanish politics

Cardinale:

An old religious lineage that turned from Saints to sinners in Italy - modernly revered as a name synonymous with wealth and success through international real estate investments

Extra Information:

> Cesare has an MBA degree

> Nilo’s father is a real estate lawyer, whose expertise is often used for the sake of the Cardinale affairs

> Cesare’s primary estate is in the Municipality of Pozuelo de Alarcón, Spain. He also has personal estates in New York and Italy, which are also locations with established syndicate routes.

> Cesare’s recent control over the syndicate does not follow traditional ‘Mafia-esque’ qualities, which at best is innovative and offers more opportunities for expansion, and at worst is abundantly risky and makes varying levels of syndicate members skeptical and uneasy to be a part of

> There are four languages Cesare is fluent in - Spanish, Italian, English, and German. He has an intermittent understanding of French

> Both Cesare and Ines were born with silver spoons in their mouths and had attentive childhoods, primarily living in Spain with their mother and other Lascaris relatives and rarely seeing their father until they were older

> While privileged, attempts on Cesare, Ines, and Elisa were a rare occurrence but occurrences nonetheless - the most notable action taken against them having been the abduction and ransom of both Cesare and Ines in their earlier years (Cesare having been seven, and Ines four)

Ava was once a loving and sweet girl, going about her day with a bright smile and almost a skip in her step. Things have changed since she has dove deep into her work of journalism. The long days and nights have taken it's toll. Ava has become impatient, closed off to those around her, her time focused on finding the evidence and knowledge to produce her work. Now since she is on the trail of mob-like work, moving closer and closer to finding the truth, she has blocked out her life around her, thinking she can just return to it once she publishes her biggest case. Ava can be stubborn and ruthless, only becuase she is scared to fail. She will fight as much as she can, even if she knows she will lose.

The early morning sun cast long shadows across the expanse of tarmac Cesare thoughtfully overlooked, the air still damp with dew. Thick, rich smoke coiled around his contemplative countenance with each deliberate inhale he took of the cigar nestled between his fingers. While his expression was unreadable, a rehearsed mask woven of calculated calm, his mind was anything but still.

If not for a person he should regard as no more than a minor inconvenience that believed it had permission to lurk and fester without his knowledge, Cesare wouldn’t be subject to waiting to board the private jet halted and at the ready of his leave just a couple hundred feet ahead of him. Disruption aside, he could not find it in himself to feel annoyed at something so trivial, per se. Or at least not anymore.

In the few short weeks he had become increasingly aware of the existence of a persistent observer keen on peering into a world they did not understand, Cesare had gone through a range of emotions on the matter. Instinct had initially implored him to send an extension of himself to dispose of this individual properly. Intelligence delivered to him yielded a name and occupation of the dedicated snoop - Avaline Roberts, journalist for an organization he had never cared to read an article from before. At least until he found it satisfactory to mutually snoop. It was as fair a pursuit as fair went in his perception and moral confines of the world.

A short span of time diluted an irritable rage at this young woman’s audacity of thinking she could observe a world and people she was too naive to comprehend in its totality and rather allowed those feelings to evolve into amusement surrounding this entire silent scandal. It was not a whim to induce fear nor an insatiable curiosity about the character or motivations of this woman that prompted him to want her delivered to his feet, to which he already suspected the beliefs and principles of would only compel him to bark in laughter at. No, Cesare recognized a tempest of ambition when he saw it, albeit not directly, but through the recklessly brave – stupid - actions of this young journalist. If he was right in his assumptions, Cesare presumed she must have as brazen determination as he did, albeit with far less sophistication and far more ignorance accompanying it. He could convince himself his intentions with her were to reap opportunities he had yet to see her capable of providing him, but in all reality, he was a man more keen on stoking the flames of a fire and watching how it burns.

If Senorita Roberts wanted a glimpse into the game she had no real understanding of, then she would learn quickly that in this world, the first rule of the game was simple - give and take. But it's not always, however, in equal measure.

The sound of tires smoothly rolling across the asphalt behind him and coming to a steady stop beckoned Cesare to tilt his head enough to be met with his own reflection through the tinted windows of the sleek black vehicle. From the pressed white button-down that fit his frame with purposeful precision to the polished black dress shoes, nearly every aspect of Cesare’s appearance and demeanor exuded a regal confidence and calculated control. The only thing even remotely out of place were a few stray wisps of blond hair being tousled by a light, constant breeze.

First to emerge was the ever-poised and smiling Nilos from the passenger seat, offering a friendly, childish antic of a wave. Nilos was a young man noticably comparable to his cousin - with curlier, messy brown hair, deep green eyes, and considerably appearing more amicable in every way. Cesare’s primarily dark aquamarine eyes, invaded by a presence of emerald splices, expressed no mirth nor dissatisfaction in his gaze back to Nilos. His response was simple - a final lifting of his cigar to his lips, a slow breath in, and dropping it from his fingers to the ground where it met its end beneath his foot.

In such a span, Nilos dutifully and undeterred by a lack of response from Cesare other than witnessing a puff of smoke being exhaled, had opened a backdoor to the vehicle and stepped to the side, waiting with the demeanor of a man accustomed to serving another hand and foot. Not that this particular someone would be the recipient of his servitude though. Cesare had given instructions to Nilos, and the other more built figure who he knew to be in the backseat accompanying Senorita Roberts, to heavily insist she go with them from whatever pick up point Nilos had deemed most advantageous and discreet. Whether such insistence was met with cooperation or required further methods of persuasion, Cesare wasn’t inclined to care considering his only requirement was the journalist to be brought to him alive. Alive and well was a matter that had been in the journalist's hands.
