Haven set the bucket she was carrying down and wiped the sweat from her brow. Glancing towards the sky she squinted as the burning sun shined into her eyes and looked away. Picking up the bucket she walked it the last few steps and poured it into the horses water trough. Setting the bucket down she hurried towards the door of the house. "Mother I finished with the horses" she called as she entered. Her mother came around the corner wiping her hands on the apron tied around her waist. "Good now clean up and help me make dinner will you" she said and waved her away before heading back to the kitchen. Haven headed to the back of the house were there was a small wash room everyone shared. Her family was in no means rich but they were on the higher end of poor. The small house had 2 rooms, one for her parents and one that her and her younger brother shared, a curtain her mother put up split their room in two. The washroom had a tub, sink and toilet. A kitchen and sitting area finished off the house. Outside they had a barn with horses, chickens, and cows. Her father was a animal farmer and sold eggs, chicken and beef to the village. After washing up she joined her mother in the kitchen. Edited at November 23, 2022 09:32 PM by Shadowed Ice

Alexander was busy preparing for the address his father would be giving the people that day. As a part of the Royal Family, he had to be there, looking proper. His mother smoothed his pale blue coat, and checked his hair, and walked to the carriage with him. He hated riding with his mother, so he was glad when she assured him he'd be riding to the village with his siblings instead. He stepped into the posh, velvet carriage, and settled into the comfortable seat. His sister and brother also got in, both of them looking tired and grouchy. They had all gotten up early to prepare, and no one was happy about it. With a sigh, he started chatting with his brother, hoping to lighten the mood. All three of them would have to look cheerful as the King gave the address, so it was best to get their complaining done now.

Hearing the door to their home open, Haven smiled as she went to go and greet her father and brother. "Welcome home papa" she said as her father reached out to ruffle her hair. "Haven go and change into your nicer travel clothes, we are going to ride into town. The King is giving an address" he said then walked into the kitchen. Haven looked at her brother with a grin and then ran to her room to get ready. She loved when she got to go into town, every now and then her father would take her instead of her brother when he needed to pick things up or when it was time to sell. Changing into one of her favorite nice traveling dresses that was a soft pale blue she let her hair out of the tight pony tail it was in then did a small braided crown at the top. Once she was ready she headed outside where the rest of the family was getting to their carriage. Climbing in after her brother she sat on the small wooden bench as her father started the horses down the road. The ride into town was short and to pass the time her and her brother played a couple hand games. Soon she saw the stone arch entrance and leaned out the window of the carriage smiling as she took everything in. The town was all set up and decorated to welcome the royal family.

Alexander hurried out of the carriage, his siblings following. They were glad to be out in the sun again, and for a moment joked and laughed together. Then their mother arrived, and all air of fun was gone. They stood in a line, straight and solemn, until she had gone through and fixed everything she considered wrong. With a few whispered words, they walked up onto the wooden stage, and stood slightly behind their parents, and waited as they were introduced, as they always were. In turn, Alexander, his brother Edmund, and their sister Charlotte stepped forward and bowed or curtsied. Then they settled down to wait for their father to speak.

Haven climbed out of the carriage as her father stopped the horses. Looking at the huge crowed that had formed in front of the royal stage she smiled. Playfully pushing her brother she ran has he began to chase her through the crowd, there was many children running around so as she pushed passed people they ignored her. Her brother caught her as soon as they reached the front and she laughed before looking up at the stage. The King had just introduced the Princes and Princess. Pushing her brother away from her she straightened her back as she watched the Royals. Catching sight of the eldest prince she smiled then looked away.

Alexander sighed. This was one of his father's usual speeches, the cliche type of how much the village meant to the kingdom. He scanned the crowd, but didn't see anything that interested him, besides a Carmel apple stand near the back.
He elbowed his brother surreptitiously, pointing towards it. "Look Ed! They look so good!"
His brother nodded, and looked hungrily at the stand. They decided that after the address, they'd sneak over and get some. In the meantime, they tried to guess how much longer the speech would be. It felt like forever, and Alexander went back to people-watching. He liked finding he prettiest girls, and flirting with them. Edited at November 27, 2022 12:49 PM by The Tea Drinkers
