Characters: -Embers Rising- Alexis Dean Crowl Preferred Name: Alex Nicknames: Allie, Al, Lex Age: 23 Birthday: July 15th Species: Human Gender: Male Bio: Alex is a college junior, majoring in Pop Culture and minoring in the coding . He got into a somewhat prestigious public school with a full ride athletic scholarship, where he joined the soccer team and school newspaper. He was a rowdy student, always focusing more on parties than he did his studies, but he kept his performance up athletically enough to keep his seat for the three years he was enrolled. It’s not that he wasn’t smart enough for his classes, he just didn’t apply much effort to them. Alex supports himself with a part time job at a local gas station and his growing twitch channel. He's no more than a small time streamer, who likes to post edits of his crazy online adventures with his friends on his slightly more popular YouTube channel, but he enjoys it none-the-less. Personality: Alex has a free spirit, is extremely sociable, and has absolutely no qualms about expressing himself. He’s a terrible flirt (though he means nothing by it most of the time), impish jokester, and loves to cause problems on purpose. He enjoys the chaos that devolves from a good prank and just generally likes to have a good time, especially if it’s at the expense of others. Alex puts the pro in procrastination and is more than happy to sit around and watch as others do the work for him. However, he’s also filled with energy and, while alive, was known for his talent in sports and all around just being a big ball of energy. He’s smart, and if you can get him talking, he’ll likely blabber your ear off about whatever catches his interest. He loves to play video games, his favorites of which include survival based multiplayer games, which he records and uploads for views. Traits/General Info: Think “You’ve been bunked with a gremlin college student that contributes nothing but acts like he owns the place”, he has that sort of vibe. He has depression, but he internalizes it, bottling it up inside until it eventually bubbles over and leaves him a despondent mess on the couch. He’s a doting brother and affectionate partner, but otherwise keeps relationships distant in order to keep himself safe from more heartbreak. He also has ADHD which can make him easily lose focus and slightly hyperactive. He’s fairly intelligent, but he simply finds no need to apply that brain power anywhere when he can easily get someone else to do it for him, and he doesn’t deal well with silence, leading him to carry on conversations with himself or blabber absently at anyone nearby. Family: Alex has all but disowned his family, especially his father who can’t keep a wife for the life of him. His newest step-mother isn’t terrible, from what he’s heard, but he has no desire to get close to her. He doesn’t keep in touch with either of them, but he still adores his only sibling: A younger brother named Thomas who would be about 14-15 now. Appearance: Alex has a head of dirty blonde curls and striking pale, green eyes. A smattering of freckles splashes across his tanned cheeks and nose, and he almost always has a shit-eating grin plastered to his face. Alex stands at about five foot nine and is physically capable but relatively thin and lanky, as his muscle mass comes across as lean instead of bulky. He’s dressed in a green, oversized hoodie and a pair of sweatpants, with his beloved, scuffed sneakers adorning his feet and a gold locket clasped around his neck. It is unknown if the necklace has a picture inside or not as the hinge has been rusted shut for years.
-Satini- Name: Selene Way
Age: 26
Apperance: Long hair, she changes the color often Currently it is black that fades into purple. About 5'2", curvy, and strong due to her job.
Other: Adores plants and animals. Is a very good cook, though her profession is actually baking Edited at March 11, 2022 05:27 PM by Embers Rising

The atmosphere in the room was tense. The air stifled and silent, only disturbed by the aggressive clicking of a mouse, the spam of computers keys, and the frantic muttering of the player behind the screen.
Fluffy blond hair bounces as the man jerks, an angry curse spilling from his lips as his arm swings the mouse wildly. Pale green eyes narrow as he leans forward, completely immersed in the game and hopelessly blind to the hundred of messages flying across his second monitor. The lanky man tenses up, shoulders hunching as the clicks of the mouse grow in number before both hands slam down onto the desk with a cry.
"LETS GOOOOO!"
Confetti lights up the screen, a dragon carrying his character about the map as the monitor displays his victory. The man drops back heavily into his seat, face lit up with glee as he rubs his hands over his eyes.
"Oh man chat, that was stressful! I swear I almost felt my heartbeat in my ears, that was so tense! That guy really put up a fight though, he knew what he was doing-" He continues to ramble on to his chat as he reaches forward to type in-game.
'gg! good show dude'
He lets his character sit for a moment before he exits out to the lobby, flying around aimlessly and punching as he skims over the chat. His grin nearly hurts his face with how wide he's smiling. 100k viewers, a new record for him. He bounces about the lobby, ignoring the crowd of stream snipers surrounding him as starts to read through the donations.
"Thank you Alliecorn for the five hundred bits! 'Hey Alex, when do you plan to do your next roleplay stream?'" He hums thoughtfully as he jumps across the lobby's bridge.
"This week's lore stream will probably be postponed due to Raven and Abbs getting sick. Sorry guys, but your favorite power couple won't be posting for a few days."
The chat flew by, spamming bleeding heart and sobbing emojis, as well as quite a few 'get better' wishes. Alex chuckled, scrolling through the mess to find the next donation to read.
"Thank you FrenchToast569 for the five gifted. 'Please bring back the survival series with Rave, Axe, and Shadow!' Sorry chat, but you know ShadowRaids doesn't collaborate with our channels anymore. I could probably convince JackAxe and Raven to agree though, make sure to spam down in the comments if you guys want another season!"
The rest of the hour flies by like that. Six more rounds, five more wins, and twenty whole minutes of convincing chat that no, he does not have carpal tunnel syndrome, that is not why he lost his last game.
Eventually though, the fun has to end and he says his goodbyes. His chat is, as always, sad to see him go, but they wish him a good night anyways and he ends the stream with his usual routine. He keeps his grin up for a few moments after the camera's finished recording, just in case, before he finally drops it and slumps against the chair.
Don't get him wrong, streaming was fun. But man, was it exhausting...
He leans over his desk, resting his chin on his hand as he sends out an end-of-stream tweet and the usual reminder for his next upload. With everything post stream cleared up, he realizes he... Doesn't really have plans for what to do afterward. His friends are all off doing their own things, he's not tired enough to sleep, and he already informed his fans that he wouldn't return for the week.
"Fuck."
Alex stares at the monitor blankly. Then, after a few minutes of awkward silence, he boots the game again, creating a new world and opening a browser tab for seeds. Better to test out some terrains than to just sit around looking at a black screen. He scrolls through some forums, looking for something of interest to use when a newer post catches his eye. He doesn't hesitate to click the link.
It takes him to a library of sorts, showing off some of the generated biomes and notable structures, and he has to admit- it's a rather beautiful world. Two photos at the bottom draw his attention the most. One is of a village, with children running about and people bustling through the town square. The second is made to look like the viewer is running from a hoard of mobs. Zombies, spiders, and skeletons alike all chase after the camera, and a creeper can just barely be seen in the corner.
Both pictures are hyper-realistic, as if someone had taken the game and redrew it to fit in with the real world. He hates to admit it, but it's cool, really, really cool, even if the two images don't fit in with the rest of the screenshots. He tries to click on the user's profile, to compliment them on the art and possibly ask a few questions, but the link doesn't seem to be connected to anything.
His brows furrow, but he ultimately shrugs it off, highlighting the provided seed to copy into his world. He pastes the mesh of numbers into the field and clicks create without a second thought. The loading box pops up, a few tips flash across the screen, and the biome background slowly shifts from a cave to a forest. Everything proceeds as normal.
Until it doesn't.
He only looks away for a second, but by the time Alex glances back at the screen, it's already too late. He grunts as the light from his monitor turns blinding, and he brings up his arms to shield his eyes. A pounding pain shoots through his skull and the back of his throat closes up as a nauseating feeling spreads through his chest.
The last thing he thinks before everything goes black is that this is what dying feels like. One sentence manages to escape his mouth, only one. His mother would be shocked at his last words, he thinks. His friends would have a good laugh, probably. They had a good sense of humor like that.

Selene had just gotten home from a long day at work. The bakery had been slammed from open to close, and she hadn't even had time to eat or take her break. All she wanted was to eat her dinner while playing a her favorite game, shower, and go to sleep. Apparently, however, that was too much to ask for. How does she know, you may ask? By the fact that once she put in a cool seed she'd found, her screen became blinding and everything went black. This just was not her day.

Alex blinked open his eyes to a ray of light shining straight into his retinas. He jolted with a hiss, slamming his poor, burned eyes shut as he rolled over in the grass.
...Wait a moment.
Grass?
Alex's eyes shot open and he stared at the patch of green in shock before slowly lifting his head to look around.
Dull green grass rose up in tuffs as far as the eye could see, specks of yellow and red flowers and a handful of trees scattered around the land. Alex barely paid them any notice as he rose, stumbling to his feet as he tried to make sense of where he was.
How on Earth had he ended up outside when he had just been logging onto a game just moments before? Was he drugged? He tried to think back to what he ate before streaming before instantly discarding the idea. He'd only eaten some pizza, there's no way someone would have taken the time to lace something so random.
Maybe... Maybe he'd just passed out from exhaustion. Yeah... That seemed plausible. It's all just a dream.
But when was the last time light hurt in a dream? Or anything for that matter?
Concern rising, Alex brushed his hands together to wipe off dirt, looking up at the sky once more. He winced as the sun tried to butcher his eyes again and he held up a hand to shield them from its evil rays.
From what he could tell it was around noon and he was about to make a snarky comment about it before he completely froze upon noticing the small transparent box directly above his head.
|Alexis Crowl|
Was that a fucking Gamertag?
Alex stared at the box in disbelief before his eyes slid to the glowing orb behind it. That... Wasn't the sun. The sun wasn't supposed to be square. Instantly his gaze shot to the ground, scanning over the plains around him.
"There's no way, there's actually no way-"
His feet were moving before he could even process it, throwing him towards the nearest tree as a wave of panic rose in his chest. He slid to a stop just meters away, staring up slack-jawed at the perfectly square oak tree before him.
"Is this... What?!"
His eyes whipped around the landscape, noting the blocky hills and almost pixel-like flowers and grass and he fell back against the tree, incredulous. This couldn't be real. The heels of his palms pressed against his eyes as he held back a scream.
An almost hysterical giggle bubbled up in his throat as he watched transparent squares float across the sky.
"When I told my chat 'life would be so much fun as a video game' I didn't mean it for real!"

Selene blinked, testing her vision before committing to opening her eyes. Turned out, this was one of her best ideas, lately, as her eyes burned with the addition of light. She hissed, rubbing harshly at her face, wondering what she'd been drinking the night before to deserve this kind of hangover. She finally opened her eyes again, realizing that she was not, in fact, passed out on her bathroom floor. In actuality, she was laying on a hard packed dirt path. She froze, glancing around with wide eyes. Holy shit. This- this was a village. From that cool seed she'd been eyeing night. She felt a bit faint at the realization, standing on trembling limbs. Well. Might as well explore.
