On the planet Hycanthia, the contient of Drygstan is home to dragons.
This large and extensive species rule the contient, and its large variety of climates and biomes.
🐉🐉🐉
Sharing this land, are the humans.
While some fear dragons, and all of their dangerous capabilities, the majority of the population has embraced them, and have made dragons part of their everyday lives.
🐉🐉🐉
In fact, on Drygstan, some people have the ability to bond with dragons, creating a connection that lasts a lifetime.
A dragon and its human partner can feel one another's emotions as their bond and friendship grow stronger.
🐉🐉🐉
🐉
Two villages reside near one another.
One is the dragon-rider village of Bystam, that lives upon a tall hill, with forests covering the area below.
The other is the dragon-fearing village of Castow, that lives inside of a hill, hidden away where dragons cannot reach them.
🐉🐉🐉
Is it possible for one chance connection to change the entire continent?
And possibly the world?

✦✦✦✦✦
Name;
Pierre Striker
✦✦✦✦✦
Age;
17
✦✦✦✦✦
Family;
Pierre’s mother and father grew up together - both children of rich and successful merchants and leaders. It was only inevitable that they’d end up getting together, and both had parents who were able to set them up to bond with Scorp Strikers (a dragon companion that is rare in their mountainous and forest-surrounded home).
His mother - M’Yaia - is the parent Pierre tended to see more throughout his youth. His father - Kywill - tended to be anywhere but at their home, which is inhabited by him, his parents, and older brother.
Pierre’s eldest sibling lives on her own.
The oldest of his two siblings is his sister Lai, who is, in Pierre’s opinion, one of the scariest people to ever exist. There isn’t much foundation behind that in his experience, but Pierre has seen her fight, and the way she oozes cool confidence.
Lai is 25, and sems to be the sibling most likely to end up being the next leader of the village.
Their other brother, and the middle child, is named R’Kan, who was less scary than Lai, but less approachable at the same time, even though he and Pierre are closer in age, seeing that R’Kan is 20.
~~~
Lai and R’Kan had always been competing for the position as the favorite child. Pierre can vaguely remember a time, when he’d been younger where they had always been watching him. He eventually “passed their tests” or whatever, and they began to interact with him more, instead of being distant figures.
Pierre now realizes they had been waiting to see if he would be competition, and when they had decided that, no, little Pierre wasn’t about to be some epic wonder, then they had been okay with interacting with him.
Pierre would be offended, but this had led to Lai and R’Kan defending him against their parents (on occasion), and saying that he should be left to do what he wants, so he was cool with it.
(Pierre isn’t an idiot - he did know that his siblings did this so he wouldn’t be part of their competition, but HA! - jokes on them. Pierre doesn’t want that sort of responsibility.)
~~~
Pierre’s parents are the leaders of his village. The Striker family name comes from their Scorp Strikers, as, despite not living in the desert, every blood member of the family has bonded with one. This is something that has made the family very well-known, and is their claim to fame. The fact that every person in the family has bonded with a dragon is something rare as well, since not all people are able to bond with dragons.
Even in dragon-rider villages (villages that have a large portion of the population that have bonded with, and ride dragons), many are still not bonded, even if dragons as a part of their everyday life. Many families have at least one person that has bonded with a dragon, but then there are also still families without a single bonded person.
Both of Pierre’s parents, and two older siblings, have bonded to Scorp Strikers.
Yet, despite being 17, Pierre has not bonded with a dragon. Those who bond will do so at 16, so it is unlikely that Pierre ever will bond.
(at least that is what they think)
This was a great disappointment for his family, and even though they still love him (their definition of love is very tough, so there is still that…), Pierre doesn’t quite fit into the perfect plans.
So, he stands back, and out of the limelight that the rest of his family adores.
✦✦✦✦✦
Personality;
Pierre, while rambunctious and an extrovert, still doesn’t like to be the center of attention, unlike the rest of his family. They all want to be leaders - they want to be in charge, make decisions, and have people look at them for answers.
Pierre wants to goof around with his friends, and doesn’t take anything seriously. He is carefree and casual in basically every aspect of life, despite of (and perhaps as a result of) the serious nature of those who surround him.
Pierre is prone to making quips and jokes that make little sense, and laughing at himself and the mistakes he often makes. Pierre is a klutz, in many ways, although he has an ease around dragons. His family believes that he is torn up about not being bonded, but it doesn’t really matter in his mind. To him, it just means that he is able to ride a load of different dragons.
(Sometimes it might be nice to have some backup in the form of a dragon, especially when facing up against wild and angry dragons, but he eventually found that in his non-bonded companionship with Fish.)
~~~
Pierre is reckless, and has pulled many idiotic stunts, but has pulled through, and managed to get himself most of the sticky situations he has ended up in.
Talking to people - joking around and making even the most sombre person crack a grin - is easy for Pierre.
…Well, it may not be easy to do, but it is what he is good at. Strategy, long term planning, and noting risks isn’t Pierre’s strong suit, much to the dismay of his parents. Still, they aren’t looking at him to take on the role of village leader.
That was going to whichever one of his older siblings prove themselves to be “worthy” first (whatever that means).
To Pierre, every moment can be a good one. He doesn’t waste much time doing things he doesn’t want to do, and has the ability to make even the most shitty of situations something… easier.
✦✦✦✦✦
Looks;
Pierre is lanky and tall. He is taller than the rest of his immediate family, being 5’10 (Lai is the next tallest, standing at 5’7). He apparently gets his height from his mother’s side of the family, although his mother hadn’t gotten those genes.
Pierre has shaggy, dark brown hair, which reaches slightly past his chin. In order to keep the hair out of his way, he braids the front pieces, which then hang around his face, and then pulls half of his hair up into a bun, with the rest still down.
As time goes on, and his hair grows, his mother will threaten him with a haircut more and more. She refuses to let his hair get past shoulder-length, and Pierre refuses to cut it above his chin. In order to keep it from getting shorter than that, Pierre cuts his hair himself, which results in some unevenness, but it works for him.
~~~
Pierre has two dimples, and with all of his smiling, it is rare for them not to be present. His eyes are downturned and big, with a startling gray-blue color to them, which contrasts with his warm toned, brown skin.
His face still flushes easily, though, and any bit of physical activity will cause his face to turn red, even if he isn’t close to being out of breath.
Across his face are multiple scars and slash marks, the biggest going across his nose, aligning with the obvious bend in it from where it had been broken in the same incident.
Even though he is part of a “dragon-rider” village, accidents still happen, and with Pierre’s reckless lifestyle, he has more scars than most. Their presence doesn’t bother him, although the scar that goes through one of his eyes, effectively blinding him, (making one eye startling because of the color, and the other because it had a milky-white film over it) does tend to be annoying.
That particular accident had happened when Pierre was young, and his father’s Scorp Striker had gotten a bit too annoyed at the small, curious kid at its feet. He apparently was lucky he hadn’t lost the eye, but either way, its function was gone.
~~~
Pierre isn’t muscular or brawny, and although he does have semi-wide shoulders, his ribs poke through his skin, taking away any level of “threatening” Pierre may have possibly had.
(his sister said it is because he is still growing - gods know Pierre eats enough)
There are two metal rings through one of Pierre’s ear lobes, and none on the other side.
✦✦✦✦✦
Extra;
Since Pierre ‘isn’t bonded,’ he doesn’t have a dragon of his own to ride around. Still, when he was younger, he had gone through dragon-riding training. He took to riding like a fish to water.
~~~
His parents weren’t about to have a kid that didn’t have a dragon of his own, so Pierre was supposed to look at dragons that had been approved by them.
Instead, he ended up finding an injured Deadly Whisper alone in the woods, and won it over with lots of food, paired with a persistence that lasted for months. Despite the fact that they aren’t bonded, the two are close, and by the way they feed off of one another, they might as well be.
A Deadly Whisper hadn’t been the dragon Pierre’s parents had been imagining, but it worked for them, and, after it had nearly set them on fire when they hinted at it not being a good pair, they figured that it wasn’t really a choice anymore.

--Dragon--
✦✦✦✦✦
Name;
Fish
✦✦✦✦✦
Breed;
Deadly Whisper
✦✦✦✦✦
Gender;
Male
✦✦✦✦✦
Age;
Dragons do not have the same lifespan as humans do. Most live to be 200 years old, although it depends on the species. Deadly Whispers tend to live to 150, and reach full size at age 30.
Fish is, as Pierre can best guess, somewhere in his mid-twenties. He isn’t quite full sized, but is definitely old enough that he should have started to form his own group by now.
✦✦✦✦✦
Looks;
Fish, like all Deadly Whispers, is able to change the color of his scales, which he does constantly. Sometimes the dragon seems to just want to be as bright as possible, while other times he camouflages. Sometimes colors drift across Fish’s scales, almost on accident, and Pierre can guess that those colors represent his emotions.
Yellow tends to appear the most around Pierre, which he hopes means happy, while gray and red appear inside of the village, which Pierre has guessed means tense and angry.
It makes sense, as Fish is supposed to be territorial and not get along well with other dragons, and he is seeing all other sorts of dragons and people around.
So, Fish doesn’t stay in the village, and Pierre has to go to the woods in order to find him.
(It might be a small fear of Pierre’s that one day, Fish won’t greet him at the edge of the woods.)
~~~
Fish is an averaged sized Deadly Whisper, standing at 19-ish feet tall, The height is measured at where Fish’s head is, when he is standing up straight, so his back is a few feet below that, since Deadly Whispers have long necks.
Since he is still growing, it is likely that he will grow to be a bit over 20 feet tall.
In order for Pierre to be able to get on, Fish will crouch down for him.
✦✦✦✦✦
Personality;
Once Fish began to trust Pierre, his playfulness came out. Much like Pierre, Fish likes to play around. The two will often chase one another, playing tag or hide-and-seek (Pierre says Fish is cheating, because he has his camouflage scales), or other games.
Fish will also mimic Pierre, like when he saw Pierre cooking his own fish over a fire, he promptly charred all of his food on the spot. Or, when Pierre was climbing a tree, he looked down, and Fish was trying to figure out a way to do that with his hind legs, and lack of front feet.
~~~
Oddly enough, Fish doesn’t have a group of his own. By his age, he should have started grouping up with other females, to form the large groups that Deadly Whispers are known for.
Pierre thinks it may have to do with the fact that Fish can’t make any sounds other than chuffs and snorts. Whenever he tries to roar, it comes out raspy and broken, and one of the primary ways those large groups communicate is through noise.
Even if that isn’t the case, Fish doesn’t seem inclined to go anywhere, and is quite content to stick around.
~~~
Fish won’t go into the village. He has only gone in there once or twice, but both times he was tense and angry, so Pierre doesn’t ask him to go anymore. Instead, Fish nests in the woods at the base of the hill that the village is on top of, and will often meet Pierre halfway when he spots him.
There have been times where Pierre doesn’t go back home for a few days in a row, and Fish will take him to the tops of the trees to sleep, and curls up around him so the boy doesn’t roll off.
~~~
Fish met Pierre a few months after he turned 16. Now he is around 17 and a half, and the two have known one another for over a year, which is why they are close.
Considering they bonded (not the forever-companionship bond, but became-friends sort of bond) in a bit of a high tension moment when Fish was hurt, they have a friendship that is closer than some other dragons and humans that have been together longer.
Plus, Pierre and Fish are friends, while some humans only look at dragons like a ride, or a status symbol.
✦✦✦✦✦
Backstory;
Pierre found Fish a few months after he turned sixteen, and failed to bond with a Scorp Striker. He had been exploring the woods nearby the village (on his own, which he wasn’t technically supposed to do yet, since his broken leg was still healing) after getting antsy after being cooped up for so long.
Desperate for any sort of excitement, Pierre ventured deep into the woods, into an area where, while the trees were more spread out, were much larger. It was prime Deadly Whisper territory.
And, there, lying beside one of those tall trees, was a Deadly Whisper. It was camouflaged, but that didn’t do much to hide it, considering there was an arrow through its wing, and a large cut along its side. When the dragon realized Pierre wasn’t going away, it had gone bright red and blue, with the spikes on the back of its neck raised threateningly. Pierre was, if he was being honest, brought back to when he was stuck in the woods with his own broken leg, and that Featharian had nursed him back to health.
He was feeling a strange urge to do that right now, with this Deadly Whisper, although Pierre didn’t have a clue as to why.
Still, he didn’t ignore the urge, and for the next few days (with occasional trips back to the village), Pierre stayed by the dragon, and slowly edged closer and closer to him. The dragon was obviously not happy with this, evidence seen through Pierre’s fire-singed clothes, but Pierre was nothing if not determined.
He went fishing and hunting, making tentative offerings of peace to the dragon for days, pushing large baskets filled with water towards him, although the basket ended up being burned down the first time.
~~~
Eventually, either the pain grew to be too much, or the food won the dragon over, because Pierre was able to get up close and personal with the wounds, the dragon staring at him with sharp eyes, although black scales drifted across its body.
Pain, Pierre had recognized, after seeing how black scales surrounded the wounds, and would grow in size when the dragon tried to move.
Still, Pierre was eventually able to treat the wounds, and did so for multiple days in a row, still bringing the food and water.
Then, one day Pierre went to the woods, and found that the dragon - Fish, he had begun to call him, since it was his favorite food - was gone. Pierre hadn’t known what to do then, and had, in the end, just laid down the food he had brought, and sat down against the tree. Eventually, he had fallen asleep, and when he woke, the food was gone.
~~~
This happened for weeks - Pierre setting down the food, and just sitting there. If he fell asleep, the food would be gone, but if he stayed up, then it would remain.
Until - one day - that changed.
Pierre was reading a book when there was a rustling, a thump, and then, when he looked up, Fish was eating the food Pierre had set out, watching him right back. Not wanting to ruin the moment, Pierrecontinued to read his book, and eventually, Fish flew away.
Weeks passed by, and Pierre went to that same spot every day. One day, pushing his luck, and the progress he’d made by putting the food closer to him every few days, Pierre reached out and touched the dragon.
He may have almost lost a hand by doing that, but Fish still came back the next day, and the hand that Pierre reached out wasn’t met with teeth.
This slow and steady progress continued on, and Pierre continued to try new things, with that initial gaining of trust completed. It was around three months since Pierre first found Fish that he ever tried proposing the idea of riding him.
Fish seemed surprisingly game, which made more sense when Pierre got on for the first time and Fish promptly dumped him on the ground, orange scales - humor - floating around as he chuffed and snorted playfully.
It took another month, but gods.
Pierre had ridden dragons before, but this was different.
He was riding on his own, on a dragon that only he could ride.
~~~
Pierre trusts Fish, and Fish trusts Pierre. The two work seamlessly together, and while they are not bonded, they are close. Fish will now let (some) other people ride on his back, but not without Pierre there, and he won’t listen to them if they try to steer.
He is protective of his human, and if they are ever threatened by another dragon, Fish is there.
★★★★★
Name:
Morven (Ven) Achlys Raiken
★★★★★
Age:
16
★★★★★
Family:
The village of Castow was created by Morven’s grandparents, and as such, he’s been held to impossibly high standards as the eldest child of the family. This pressure was only further impressed upon him when his mother abandoned the village when he was eight to be with a dragon she’d bonded with in the wild. Once Ven realized that dragons were to blame for his family’s predicament, he began to curse their existence even more.
Currently Ven’s father, Roshan, leads the village in their efforts against dragons and defending the town. His idea of peace revolves around the eradication of dragons and their riders, and he has encouraged this idea within his children and the town people as well.
Despite Roshan’s efforts, there is one person who has absolutely refused this idea, and that is Morven’s sister Agnesia. She is three years younger than Ven but is still one of his closest friends. The duo tends to get into trouble, most of the time due to Agnesia’s tendency to drag Morven on adventures with her. Even though Ven’s friendship with his sister tends to be more trouble than it’s worth, he doesn’t mind and loves her dearly.If Morven continues down the path his father has laid down for him, he will take up the mantle of leadership and become the next town leader.
_____
Ven’s mother, Adelaide, was a well loved woman within the town. Morven doesn’t remember much about her, and no one speaks about her. From what he is able to gather, Ven knows that her whole life had been planned out for her, and that she rose to any challenge. Her disappearance was completely unexpected, and had sent the village into a scramble.
Morven’s father was able to pull the village back together, and took up the title of leader that his wife had held for seven years.The Raiken family is well educated, and are seen as supposed elites among the rest of the village.
★★★★★
Personality:
Morven’s entire life has been controlled by his father, from the clothes he wears to the people he talks to, his father is constantly hovering over his shoulder. The pressure from all sides to be the best can be a bit overwhelming at times, and that’s the reason why he gives in when his sister drags him along on her adventures. Although he’d never actually leave Castow, he does enjoy the reprieves he gets with his sister.
Unlike his happy go lucky sister, Ven has a rather somber outlook, and a sarcastic sense of humor. He rarely jokes, if ever, and acts double his real age. This often makes people believe he’ll be a good future leader, but Morven has other ideas.
His true passion lies in literature, he enjoys writing poems and occasionally even composes musical pieces when he has time. Truthfully, Ven doubts that he’d make a good leader despite his maturity, and he’d much rather spend his adulthood making people smile or cry with his creative talents.
Due to his future as the leader of Castow Morven has great charisma, and can get along with practically anyone when he needs to. Despite his seemingly extroverted personality, not many can say that they actually know anything about him other than the details already put out there by his father. This is both due to Ven and Roshan’s efforts. His father tries to make Ven seem like the perfect gentleman, and Morven just goes along with it.
Being put in stressful situations tends to result poorly for Morven, he dislikes pressure although he’s been dealing with it for his entire life. Split second decisions make Ven panic and he often ends up freezing and not doing anything. The only exception is when his little sister is involved, in which case he will do anything to protect her.
There is only one person that Morven truly trusts and that is Agnesia, she never fails to put a smile on his face and is always there for him. Morven isn’t quite sure who he’d be without her keeping him in line.
★★★★★
Looks:
Although Roshan tries his best to make Morven look put together, Morven rarely does. His face is littered with dozens of freckles, old scars, and even new scratches. The latter comes from his adventures with Agnesia, which almost always result in him getting scuffed up in order to keep her out of harm's way. The scars and scratches don’t end at his face though, as Morven’s entire body is covered in random scars, ranging from big to small.
Ven’s skin is a warm beige in color, and is often a bit darker from the occasional tan he gets when out with Agnesia. He is shorter than the rest of his family, only reaching 5’3 and relatively fit. To stay in shape, he often goes running, and is actually pretty decent at long distance running. Probably a good thing if he needs to run away from dragons.
On top of Morven’s head sits fluffy, carrot colored hair. It is entirely natural and comes directly from his mother’s side of the family. His hair is styled in a short wolf cut kind of way that allows people to see the earrings in each ear.
Ven’s eyebrows are a little darker than his hair, and sit above two green eyes. If someone looks at him carefully, they’ll notice that one of his eyes is a much lighter green than the other. Upon first glance most people don’t really notice this oddity, but they eventually catch on and realize that he does have heterochromia.
_____
Another…
different thing about Morven is his rather feminine features. His long lashes, perfectly curved, rounded nose and gentle pink lips that are often curled up in a smile make him appear feminine in the superficial sense. Ven couldn’t give less of a shit about it, and genuinely doesn’t care about how he sometimes gets mistaken for the opposite gender. His father on the other hand absolutely hates it and says so regularly.
_____
Morven’s clothes mostly consist of turtlenecks and sweaters. These things cover the scars he’s gotten from his adventuring, something that Roshan refuses to just let Ven flaunt around town. Besides, living inside a cave gets chilly, and most people wear long sleeved clothes to fight off the cold air that grips the town.
Although Roshan dictates most things that Ven wears, an item that he refuses to be parted with is an amethyst pendant given to him by his mother before she abandoned them. His father hates it, and makes Ven hide it under his shirt when he goes out but most of the time Morven takes it out as he wanders down. It’s the only thing Ven has from his mother other than her goodbye letter, and even though he feels as though she betrayed them, he can’t bring himself to part with the necklace.
★★★★★
Other:
Morven is nearsighted as fuck. Despite that, his father doesn’t let him wear glasses outside the house. Why? Well the glasses are expensive and Roshan doesn’t want them to get broken on one of Ven’s adventures.
____
No one knows whether or not Adelaide is still alive, but most people act like she is. People even occasionally offer Ven their condolences about his mother. Although he acts like it’s alright, and that his mother is a traitor, deep down Morven just wants his mom back.
★★★★★
The day started out like any other for Pierre: waking up on top of a 40 foot tall tree with no idea how to get down.
'I really shouldn't be used to this,' Pierre thought as he struggled to make his way down, still half-asleep, 'I really, really shouldn't be. This has to be a problem, right? Like, getting left in a tree by your dragon best friend should be a sign that something is wrong in your life.'
Whatever it was - wrong or not - it was normal for Pierre. The last thing he remembered was falling asleep while flying on his dragon pal - Fish. Based on the position of the sun-
Pierre yelped as his foot slipped off a still-too-thin branch. Alright then. Don't look at the sun while climbing down a tree. That is a Bad Idea.
Either way, it was probably around noon-ish, which meant that Fish had stored him in a tree for safe keeping while he went hunting.
'It is strange that my dragon just stashes me away up high in trees, right? Like, no way that is normal?'
Pierre paused in his climbing, wondering momentarily if he should wait for Fish in the tree.
'Nah. Too boring.'
Besides, he was hungry.
...
It didn't take that long for Pierre to reach the ground - he had practice climbing trees while half-asleep after all - and once his feet were firmly on the ground, he looked around. None of the woods looked familiar, but that wouldn't be surprising, considered he vaguely remembered Fish flying for a decent while in one direction. They were probably pretty far from his village.
'Good.'
So, Pierre turned in a random direction, knowing Fish would find him eventually, and set off.
...
Pierre had been walking for nearly 10 minutes when he saw it: gobberberries. It was as if the gods above had descended from the sky and showered blessings upon him. Gobberberries were Pierre's favorite food ever. Screw being careful, Pierre wanted those berries in his mouth no-
Pierre definitely screamed. Up and down all mixed together, and it was only because he'd been dropped by Fish before that he didn't throw up.
It was a very near thing, though.
There was a sickening lurch, and everything went still. Pierre dared to open eyes, peaking out from behind his hands. He cursed violently, "Blubbering codfish, what rotting brained idiot put a net here? Fuck me on a flying-fucking-pig this is ridiculous."
He looked to be twenty feet in the air, swaying around in a rope net, with no apparent way down.
That was when he heard wingbeats.
"Fish?"
Pierre peered up at the sky, hoping to see his dragon friend descending from above to rescue him, with a disappointed look on his face.
No dice.
The sight instead made Pierre's jaw drop. Four Daystalkers were flying through the air. Although Pierre wasn't sure if he believed in the old stories about Daystalkers showing up when something big was about to happen, the dragons were so rare that the sighting was still surprising.
But: Pierre had bigger problems. Getting down.
...
He sat in the net for what seemed like hours (it was five minutes) cursing out loud all the while. Eventually, he gave up on waiting to be rescued, saying fuck it, and pulled out his knife. He'd saw himself out of the net if he had to. Anything was better than waiting.
Trapping days fucking sucked.
Morven was the last to complain aloud about such things but internally he hated them with a passion. That was why, when he'd gotten the chance to quietly slip away from the hunting party, Morven had done so gladly.
It wasn't like he didn't hate dragons, he did, but when his father and the rest of the party killed them, their cries would ring through his nightmares for weeks on end. He rarely got enough sleep as it was, with all the responsibilities and chores he had, and adding nightmares to the problem certainly did not help his already chaotic sleeping schedule.
That was why he'd slipped away from his father's side, and had instead decided to check the traps ahead of them for any dragons. He wasn't sure what he'd do if he did end up finding a dragon in one of them, but he'd cross that bridge when he got there he supposed.
___
So far, none of the traps had been sprung, and Morven had began to wonder if he was lucky after all. That was when he heard the wingbeats.
The sound immediately sent shivers down his spine and he ducked under a tree, bringing out his dagger with steady hands. He waited for an attack that never came, and as the wingbeats retreated, Morven peered into the sky for the first time to see what dragons had caused him such trouble.
Four dragons' retreating forms caused Morven's jaw to drop. They were Daystalkers.
Of course Morven didn't believe the old stories made up by some crazy dragon riders, but they were so unbelievably rare that he was stunned by the sight.
After awhile, Morven snapped himself out of it and continued to check the traps.
___
Not long after he'd seen the Daystalkers did Morven spot the sprung trap. He immediately ducked behind a bush as the animal inside hissed, or what seemed like hissing at first. Eventually it became apparent to Ven that the creature inside the trap was no hissing animal, it was instead a cursing human.
Ven watched as the boy, who he did not recognize, cursed and then started to saw at the net. This immediately made Morven stand, was this guy an idiot? Falling from such a height could break bones. Grumbling to himself, Morven finally decided to approach the boy.
"You really shouldn't saws yourself out you know. You'll break a few bones, or worse, your neck." Morven revealed himself, his voice reserved but mildly curious as well.
Pierre wasn't afraid to admit it: he yelped. When someone randomly began speaking, Pierre fumbled with his knife, nicking himself on the blade before he finally caught it again. He let out a sigh of relief when the knife was safely back in his hands, although he did close it - just to be safe.
"Dude! You nearly scared the gobberberries out of me! Or, at least, you would have, if I had any in me. Instead of getting to eat, I got trapped in a net," Pierre groaned dramatically, flailing about in his new prison. As his limbs went everywhere, he noticed the blood coming out of the cut made by the knife, and shuffled around in his pockets for a tissue. Halfway through wrapping the cut, Pierre seemed to remember that there was another person there, and focused on the new boy, "And yeah, I probably would break a couple bones, but anything is better than being stuck here for-fucking-ever. I'm bored and hungry - and let me tell you that is the worst combination for me."
Pierre shifted around in the net some more, freezing when the tree branch cracked ominously, although he still started moving again after a few moments, although it was slower, "Hey! Strange boy! Can you let me down? That would be super awesome. Even though this is probably your trap - in which case rude - but also I'd forgive you if you let me down, please."
Although he felt bad for it later, Morven couldn't help but release a snort of laughter as the guy absolutely freaked out when he spoke. It was most definitely his fault that he'd scared the guy, but he hadn't been expecting such a...dramatic reaction. It did make him feel a bit bad when the guy seemed to have accidentally cut himself though.
It seemed that the man had fallen for a trap laid for a dragon, the trap had been strategically placed next to the gobberberries for that specific reason. Morven's father had recently discovered that a few dragons actually liked the berries, and had laid the trap next to them hoping to capture a few dragons.
As the other boy began to speak again, Ven grinned, this guy was a bit dumb it seemed. He had apparently not realized that Morven was a human, and, as such, could release him from the trap without too much harm coming to him. For a moment, Ven debated just straight up leaving this guy to his own devices, but then he asked the question that should have been the first thing he'd said after spotting Morven.
"I was wondering whether you were going to ever get to asking me or not. First off, this is not my trap, it's my villages' trap but I did not set it and I most definitely do not need your forgiveness as it would mean nothing to me." Ven's blunt attitude tend to annoy his sister to no end, but according to his dad it was better to be straighforward in most situations, and Morven was pretty sure this situation counted as one of those.
"I'll let you down, but only as long as you promise me that your beast won't attack me once I do. I'd rather not be murdered today because tomorrow it pie day and I'd like to be alive for that." Morven figured that this kid must have been from the nearby rider village, and probably had his own dragon that would defend him from harm. Ven didn't want to release the guy and be repaid with a dragon attack.
