Burning Embers
The Kingdom of Ederia is famed for a lot of things, attaining high praise from all those that look upon her. However, there is one thing Ederia is most renowned for: Dragon Riders. The only Kingdom to have come up with a way to tame the legendary beasts, to ride upon their backs as one. It has been like this for decades, perhaps even centuries, few really know. And, together in harmony, Dragons and Humans have lived, creating a proserpous nation.
The Dragon Academy of Ederia is like none other, literally there are no others known to the world. A place where young students who have been lucky enough to be chosen by their dragons go to learn to become the most revered role in all of Ederia: Dragon Riders. Few are selected, as dragons are known to be an entirely selective species, but those who are chosen must learn quickly, and that is where the Academy comes in. Exerpienced riders teach the fledgling riders and their dragons how to work together as one, as well as everything the youths will need to know about dragons and what they are up against in the world.
It sounds like a beautiful, wonderful place, right?
Too bad all good things must come to an end.
Jealous nations, wanting to claim the glory for themselves and bring down Ederia have set their sights on destroying the Academy. It was only a matter of time before the succeeded too. One night, the forces of another Kingdom infilitrated the Kingdom, intent on burning it all. And they did. The Academy was destroyed, the cities burned, and it's occupants, the ones who tried to resist and fight back, were slaughtered. In hopes of preserving a little bit of their legacy so that hope would remain, the Leaders of Ederia and the Dragon Riders commanded the students to flee, to survive, to learn.
As the battle raged on for Ederia, the students fled, looking back on the carnage behind them, hoping that one day they could come back and restore their beloved Kingdom.

The Rules of the Roleplay Follow all of WP's and Eve's Rules. 1. Be Active. Sometimes I'm not on for a couple of days, but I expect everyone to be as active as they can for the rp. Unless you are waiting for someone to post, you should be posting. Posts should be occurring every 3-ish days. 2. Reservations last 48 hours. You know how I work if they aren't done in time. You may ask for One Extention of Up to 12 Hours, but You Must Ask Before the Reservation has Expired. 4. Maximum of 4 Characters per Person for Now. All I ask is you finish the characters you reserved and started first before reserving more. 5. Semi-Realism and Semi-Literacy are required. Please do not make me explain myself. 6. I had an old rule here that I removed and I don't know what to replace it with, and I'm too lazy to think of something new. 7. The riders are new, they will not be experts at Dragon Riding. Mistakes will be made, and they do not know everything. 8. For now, your own dragon and your own rider cannot be partners, this it to prevent people from not having others to post with. 9. I reserve the Right to Deny Applications for this Rp. I won't tolerate disrespect or rude behavior if your application gets denied, or your reservation/character get removed due to inactivity. If you do, I won't even give you the option to fix it or return. If you are respectful, I am often willing to work with you. 10. Try to keep things even with genders, it's much more interesting if things are diverse. 11. LGBTQ+ is welcomed and allowed here. 12. Please put your favorite Dragon movie or book in the other section of your form if you've read everything. 13. As Mentioned: These are still kids. They shouldn't be expert assassins, or perfect swordsmen, etc. They can have training for things, but they're still just teenagers. Even the Experienced Riders won't be expert warriors, etc. because they're still in training too. 14. Only 1 Mentor or Squad Leader Role [Includes Dragon or Rider] per Person.
Choosing Your Partners I have decided to, one again, change things. Gotta keep things fresh yanno? It's familiar, and straight forward, but there are somethings to abide by, or keep in mind.
I am allowing you guys to choose your own partners this time, I will set a Deadline that you'll need to choose by otherwise I will asign you one myself. However, there are a few things to keep in mind. 1. Your character must be acceped by me First. 2. Dragons decide, so I would like you to reach out on behalf of your own dragon, if you have one, and let others come to you for your rider. Of course I can't really control this, but I'm going to pretend everyone is following it. [Exception being for the Mentors and Squad Leader since they're predetermined.] 3. You can only be paired with the same roleplayer once, unless I say otherwise. Might add more, Im not sure.
The Academy Rules 1. No romantic relationships while enrolled between students. It's forbidden. 2. Curfew is 9 PM Sunday - Thursday, and 11 Pm Friday and Saturday. Dorm checks will be done to confirm students are in their rooms. 3. No Inter-Mingling in the other dorm rooms after 8 Pm, but is allowed in Common Areas. 4. Tardiness is not allowed. If you are late to class more than 3 times, you will receive extra work or chores as punishment. 5. Riding outside of School Grounds Without Permission is Strictly Prohibited for your Safety. 6. Violence among students is not acceptable, unless in a specific class like Sparring. 7. Dragons: Do not eat the students. Please. 8. Students are expected to provide and care for their Dragons. 9. Any Students Found Mishandling Dragon Eggs will face Expulsion! (Gregory)

About the Academy The Academy was found by some of the first generations of riders, wanting a streamlined way for new riders to learn and grow safely. It features basic education as well as everything revolving around dragons from care to flight to sparring, and everything in between and beyond.
The Academy is much like modern day college, in the fact that the chosen riders leave home to live on the grounds. Their dragons also live on the grounds in the rookery, though are typically much less happy about it than the humans. The humans are split into two dorms, one for boys and one for boys, and are assigned rooms that they share with two people in each room. Each of the dorms have common rooms where the students can relax on down time, and a dining hall for meals, though they aren't always required to eat there.
The Dragon counterparts stay in one of the two rookeries. The first is the top level of the school, carved out and fitted so that each dragon has a little outcropping of space for its nest. It's a very large and open room, and spans much of the building. It has openings on either broadside that the dragons can enter through by flight or glide. There is also a human door that allows the students access as well.
The second rookery is underground, a expanse of cave systems that gives each dragon a bit more privacy than in the first rookery. Each dragon has its own cave, and the nests are all connect by a system of tunnels which then connect to the large main tunnel, which can easily fit multiple dragons in it at once, that leads to the entrance. Ironically, the tunnel entrance itself looks like a cave mouth until one were to venture within it further.
About the Dragons There are a variety of dragons in the world, though everyone single one of them fall into one of the classes listed below. Instead of giving them a Singular, Pre-Decided Ability, I've decided to give you more Creative Liberty with Your Dragons. I will now List all the Classes Available, How Many of them There are Available, and that is it. You'll have to come up with the rest.
All the dragons in the Rp are the same age group of young adult, which is the stage where they are 50 years old or above, becoming full adults at about 250 years. The older a dragon gets the longer the aging stage lasts, ergo ancient is longer than adult, which is longer than young adult, which is longer than their adolescent stage, and so on and so forth. Dragons are considered semi-immortal but it has never been proven what age they die naturally at. For the Purpose of this Rp, all Young Adult Dragons are capped at 19 Feet Tall. I've based this on the largest I would allow the Young Adult Dragons in former versions of this Rp.
For your dragons, though, it will be up to you to come up with their abilities and their individual weaknesses. Of course, I will have a specific set of Weaknesses that apply to ALL dragons, but each dragon will also have their own. You must have 1 Weakness for Every 1 Ability they have. So if you give them 5 Abilities, you must have 5 Weaknesses for them as well. This is to keep balanced, so no one's dragon is OP. If I do not think you have balanced your dragon enough, they will not be accepted. Classes
Fire Class Common Total Slots: Three Adramelech Azarimous
Water Class Common Total Slots: Three Amhuluk
Ice Class Common Total Slots: Three Caelestis
Earth Class Common Total Slots: Three Choilleich
Air Class Uncommon Total Slots: Two Zephyrus
Storm Class Uncommon Total Slots: Two Savo'alath Keraunophoros
Lunar Class Uncommon Total Slots: Two Aynabat Coyolxauhqui
Psyche Class Rare Total Slots: One Zadok
Light Class Rare Total Slots: One Tatsuo
Dark Class Rare Total Slots: One Thalassia
Remember, every dragon is different, even within the same category, so not all dragons of the same type are going to have the same abilities. Have fun, and be Unique!
Dragon Weaknesses & Strengths These are the Strengths and Weaknesses that all Dragons Share.
For Weaknesses: ⊗ Iron Weakens & Drains Them. ⊗ Soft Belly Scales ⊗ Cannot Fly with Injured Wings
For Strengths ⊕ Longevity & Superb Healing ⊕ Resistant to Specific Types of Human Magics [Curses, Mind Control, etc.] ⊕ Enhanced Abilities Such as Speed, Strength, etc. Edited at June 9, 2024 06:55 PM by Imperial Sands

The Beginning Make Sure You Read This.
The sun shines brightly in the sky, it's rays caressing the valley below, the mountains casting cool shadows from where they stand. There is a hush shudder among the crowd as their whispers get swept away in the wind. Few seemed to dare to speak louder, like they were afraid that if they did it would all turn out to be a dream. Fortunately for them, it is not.
The hopefully-soon-to-be dragon riders now all stand in the clearing among their peers with baited breath as they wait for the dragons to arrive. Most of them hope they'll be chosen as the next team of riders, however, most of them won't be so lucky. All they can do now, though, is wait for the dragons to arrive and make their picks. It's all out of their hands now.
Soon the Dragons will arrive to the Valley of the Dragon, and descend into it to pick their rider, their bond leading them to knowing which one it is. They don't know how they know it's them, but something in their chest, in their heart, says it is. They'll know upon sighting their rider who it is, but their bond won't snap into place until there is physical contact between the two, which is a feat for some of the dragons already. This bond allows for each to feel the strong emotions of the other, and allows them to speak telepathically to one another. This bond is like a pull, often able to be used by one to find the other if they're lost and so on. It's a magical and mysterious thing that none really know anything about.
____________________________
Setting It's important to note that this takes place in more medieval times, so no modern day technology, clothing, weaponry, etc. It's a mild morning, nothing too cold or hot. The sun is out, with only a few clouds dotting the sky. There is a gentle breeze on the air as well. It's early to mid spring right now.
Dragon Valley Everyone knows about the choosing place, also called Dragon Valley, many even know where it is, though it only ever holds the dragons and riders for the ceremony at the specific times for the different ceremonies. To put it simply, the Choosing Place is a valley that combines the prime terrains for all dragon times. Grassy plains cover most of the center of the valley, dense, heavy forests line the sides of the valley. There is a lake at the back of the valley that butts up against the mountains there, and it is as deep as any and capable of providing a comfortable place for water dragons to reside. Surrounding the entire valley are tall mountains, ideal for earth dragons to climb, while the soil of the entire valley is loose enough for earth dragons, even young ones, to dig through. This allows the dragons to take their riders on their "First Ride" trial, to complete the bond as Dragon and Rider.
___________________________
For the Beginning of the Rp The posts will start at the Bonding Ceremony. It doesn't have a special name, but it's where the dragons come and choose their riders. The choosing day happens once to twice a year, dependent entirely on how many unclaimed dragons arrive at the school throughout the year after sensing their rider. Typically they do it once enough riders graduate to free up space, but they'll do it a second time if there is a flux of unclaimed dragons who enter the school grounds to wait for the next Choosing Day.
For the Choosing Day All the eligible students will arrive at a great clearing, their futures uncertain. They have no idea if they'll get chosen or not, as the number of humans always greatly out numbers the number of dragons. However, the dragons know their rider is there. There is really no rhyme or reason to how they know, they just do, it's like a feeling, an instinct.
The humans will stay in the clearing until all the dragons have chosen their rider. The instinct within the dragons will lead them to their rider, and when they find them, the mind link with snap into place, something that will be mentally felt automatically by the dragons, but only by the human when the dragon speaks or touches the human for the first time.
The mental link may be painful for some of the humans upon first contact, mental or physical, but it'll pass in short moments. The link will be weak at first, extending only about 10 feet, before it is barely felt. It'll grow in strength over time, until it can remain strong over long distances.
Eventually, after all the riders are chosen, a congratulatory speech will be given by a special guest. The guest will then instruct the new riders of their next step: The First Flight. It's more accurately called the First Ride, since not all dragons fly, but you get the point. This is a chance for the Dragons to test their new riders, to see if they are "worthy" in their eyes to be their rider. Basically, they're testing the metel of their riders. This is a very dangerous time, because some dragons will absolutely try to knock their riders off, which could result in the rider's death. Not all dragons will, but many of them are going to put their new rider through the ringer. And, since they'll have no training and no gear, it's going to be extremely dangerous and likely terrifying for the new Riders.
From there, things will go on as normal in the Academy.
___________________________
I will not announce or give any warning to when the attack will come. It could be very first thing, or it could be more down the line. But, ultimately, there will be no warning for it. When I post for the attack, though, anyone who hasn't posted, or hasn't been active prior to it, will be considered KIA. From there, those unfortunately in pairs with someone who is inactive and marked as KIA will have to function as the remaining half as the other half will have been killed. This is not negotiable, but those who have had their partners killed will have a chance to form new pairings with those in the same boat.

Paxon Nethersoul New Rider | Male | 17 Years | Mentions: Open
Nervousness coarsed through the young man's veins as he stood in the field amonst the crowd of young, hopeful prospective riders. It wasn't being in a crowd that was giving him anxiety, though, as Paxon was used to not being seen, and took comfort into blending in with the masses. No, what had him nervous was the reason why all of them were there.
Dragons.
There was nothing more awesome and terrifying that the giant, flying creatures. Many of them could simply remove a human's spine with a simple flick of their claws, and yet, here they all were vying to become one of the great beasts' rider. If there was one thing in his life Paxon wanted more than anything, even to be noticed by his parents, it was to be chosen by a Dragon. It would be the one thing to truly set him apart from the rest of his family.
His father nor mother had never been chosen by a dragon, and he knew that had been one of his father's greatest failures, as all of his uncles had been dragon riders. His older brother hadn't been chosen either, much to the chagrin of their father, and his younger sister was too young to be chosen at this point. It hadn't been a surprise to Paxon when his father hadn't even lifted his eyes from his wood carving when he'd announced he was heading to the Bonding Ceremony to see if he'd been chosen. Neither of his parents believed it would happen to their mediocre middle child.
Paxon inwardly shrugged a bit at this fact, having grown somewhat used to hsi parent's disinterest in him. Only his little sister had squealed at him when she'd herd and wished him luck with one of her messy hugs. It was hard not to feel joy at Emilia's excitement, and it was carried in his chest even as he stood there now wracked with nerves.
He thumbed the smooth surface of the mismatched colored beads of the bracelet wrapped around his wrist. It had been Emilia's gift to him for his birthday two years ago, and hadn't really taken it off since. He considered it his good luck charm.
Deciding he wanted a better look over the valley, Paxon moved quietly into the edge of the trees, and glanced up at the lower hanging branches above him. He nodded and jumped, hooking his hands over a branch and pulling his lean figure up onto it. He quietly climbed a few more branches so he could sit comfortably and look over much of the valley spread out before him. His blue and green eyes seemed to almost glimmer in excitement, because, even if he wasn't chosen, at least he'd get to see dragons.

Caelestis - New Dragon - Air - 230 Years - Mentions: Open
With his head turned into the buffeting winds and with the roughened texture of rock cold beneath scaled feet, the dragon clung to the mountain spire, claws hooked into the cracks to better maintain balance. Wings folded tightly to sleek flanks and nostrils flaring, he leaned ever so slightly into the currents, decoding the traces of scents carried on the chilled stream of wind. There were little that he could distinguish, thinned from the heights, as the lingering scents of creatures tore past in a swirling gust.
The inexplicable tugging in his chest, unyielding in its persistence, drew his attention from the wonderfully chilled currents, seeming to twist his neck until the narrow snout was aligned to the origin of the silent call. With wind roaring in his ears and the nipping breezes sweeping through his mane, he soundlessly regarded the direction to which he was drawn to, as the creature had for the past days. He did not scent nor sense any disturbances hailing from that direction, yet drawing closer to the region sent a tingling anticipation through his veins.
The dragon was not a hatchling, nor was he ignorant. He knew exactly what lured him ever closer, why the pulling force had nestled inside his chest.
After all, the bonding of dragons to humans was no secret.
The gift that he had taken for the one who was to be his rider, for destiny had decreed he was to be bound the moment the summoning call formed, remained carefully cradled within his mouth. Smoothened by unknown hands and shaped into a sphere, he had little idea of the purpose of the object, whether it was mere decoration or meant to be used in work. It probably depends on what it looks like, humans do value appearances. I think.
A particularly strong gust swept across the sky, bringing a fresh chill to the heights-thinned air. It slid over his scales and through the cracks within the armor, the cold slipping into his being as familiar as the winds that often carry it. Lowering his head as he readjusted his grip on the orb, the dragon testingly arched the primary set of wings, feeling the supporting muscles stretch with the action.
The shroud of black slowly straightened until they were raised to their fullest height, the leathery membrane angled to reduce the drag against the softening currents, the stretch of the wing tendons tight but not overly so. The brief review of his physical state finished, the limbs lowered and half-folded to his sides.
I've wasted enough time resting. It's time to leave, he thought as the sense of urgency began trickling into his veins again. The need to continue traveling towards the insistent tugging, to find the famed Valley where dragons and humans gathered to find their bondmates, was returning in full force to draw him to the place nestled between mountains. Taking a bead on the direction that the tugging was drawing him to, the dragon slackened his grip on the warmed rock and slipped off the spire, the air catching beneath the primary set of wings as they spread to their full extent.
The sounds of the airy heights filled his ears, the sensations of wind curling and streaming through the heavens with nothing to impede the currents shivering through the winds, and he became nothing more than a swift flying spot upon the dawning blueness. For a time he soared within the higher parts of the sky, where the air thinned gloriously and the wind chill became biting, until the guiding sense of the latent connection became stronger. The dragon slowed his flight accordingly, dropping to the lower part of the sky as he did so, understanding that he was close. The temperature was milder where he was, the breezes gentler and the scents different.
The echoes of a barrier began to ripple through the currents, the wind curling back and flowing unimpeded higher in the sky. It took far too long for him to realize that the solid structures that felt like they were looming high above, reaching up into the heights, were mountains. I really am distracted, he thought with a touch of lighthearted irritation, veering away from the threat of colliding with unrelenting stone to a safer distance before beginning to beat his wings harder, climbing higher into the sky to pass over the mountains without fear of slamming into the rocky surface.
For a creature that was meant for flight, the change in course did not take long to correct. Soon, he was gliding above the mountain points, letting the echoes of the environment bounce back to him for a moment. Then the dragon tipped into a gentle drop, growing closer to the fresh scent of greenery and forests, before adjusting the angle of his wings and leveling out a decent height above the variety of smells. The scents of humans and nature, of dragons and eagerness, filled his nose. A stark difference from the watered down traces that were often carried on the higher echelons of the sky, or from the resting perch of the lonely mountain spire.
In the morning sky the dragon wheeled for a few long minutes, gathering information on the crowd of humans below, and whether there was dragons actively present in the fresh-smelling Valley. He did not want to accidentally crush an unfortunate human when he landed, nor did he desire to gain the ire of another of his kind. Neither would be a good impression. And so he learned where the majority of humans were, where he could land safely, and as he did, a flicker of a mischievous notion came into his head. It had been a while since he had indulged those impulsive ideas, they were fun but had sometimes led him straight into trouble in his hatchling years. The situation was different, though, there was an excuse for doing something different. That part of him wanted to impress his future rider, if they were indeed present within the crowd. Why not? It is a special occasion after all.
The brief indecision settled, the dragon circled the clearing once more before choosing a non-populated place, folding his wings and allowing himself to plummet. Air rushed past his ears, and the wind seemed to part around his streamlined form. He grasped control of a current and a sharp breeze was propelled toward the ground, unfurling against the grasses and earth and rippling up to his diving form, the information processing in his mind within a second.
He held the plunge for a few moments longer, the span of a excitement-pounding of a heart. His form zipped past a tree that had felt farther away than it actually was, more than a little too close for comfort, before he shifted the position of his body and leaned back, wings snapping away from his sides and forming a rigid arch before being forced down again in a mighty flap. Breaking the momentum of the dive was necessary to land without breaking anything, it was a riskier manuever to preform, but he had done it many times in the past without consequence.
The sense of falling continued for a brief moment, then his hind limbs were slamming into the softer ground, the shock of contacting a solid surface shivering through his scales to the delicate bones of the foot. His front half was quick to follow, and he resisted the urge to allow a stumbling step forward to compensate for the force of the landing. For quiet moment, Caelestis stood where he had landed, exhilration still quickening his pulse and that excited anticipation curling tight around his bones. Then he mentally shook off the surging torrent of feelings, and moved away from the open.
Then the dragon slipped into the coolness of the shadows, content to simply observe for the time being, listen to the voices and gain better bearings on the environment and those who temporarily imhabited the Valley.

Kayne D'Angelo New Rider/ Male/ 18/ Mentions: Caelestis (indirectly) Kayne loosened the girth on the saddle of his horse, fingers working the strap deftly. He slid the strap all the way through and slung the girth and girth strap over the top of the saddle before he pulled it off the sweaty mare. He grabbed the blanket too, and hung the saddle over the stall fence with the blanket inside out so that it could dry. Next, he brought the sooty dun a bucket of grain, pouring the small portion into a trough, watching as his mare nickered in appreciation and began to eat. While she ate, he gave her a good rub down, gently brushing over her entire body. He repeated this routine with his uncle’s horse and proceeded to meander out of the barn after making sure they were secure. It was one of the first things a ranger learned- good horsemanship and care, for a ranger without a good healthy horse was a dead one. Besides, he loved caring for Nyx, his mare. She was a smart thing, and it was said, the better one cared for their horse, the deeper their bond would be. Oftentimes, it was only the bond between horse and rider that kept rangers alive in intense moments. Speaking of bonding… Thought Kayne, as a dragon whizzed past overhead, no doubt to the clearing a good way outside the city, where everyone in town was gathered to watch the Bonding ceremony in hopes of being chosen by one of those fierce beasts, native to this land only. Well, almost everyone. His uncle was dead asleep, crashed in one of the rooms in the tavern after a long month’s scouting the border. Kayne had gone along too, but he didn’t appreciate his uncle’s coming back to the city routine of reporting back to the city leaders about his findings and skirmishes and whatnot, find the nearest tavern, get drunk, and sleep for several days before heading back out on the next mission. While Kayne appreciated the taste of liquor, he had no intentions of getting drunk, for one, he wanted to be in control of himself at all times, second, someone had to watch out for danger with his uncle passed out like a baby, and lastly, hangovers were the worst. And today… Well, today Kayne wanted to see the dragons. Of course, getting bonded to one was laughable. It would never happen to him. Dragons weren’t especially fond of rangers, they found them irritating whenever they would wander into lands the dragons saw as their own territory, and try to solve problems that often brought drama into the dragon’s territory as well, with all the scouting and pursuit of insurgents and all. Still, Kayne found his feet walking towards the clearing not too far away where the crowds gathered when normally he would be wanting to get as far away as possible. They were truly mesmerizing creatures, and he never seemed to catch more than just a quick glance of them in the wilds. He would be satisfied by just seeing one out in the open and then going back to his ranger duties. Kayne began to feel more and more claustrophobic as the number of people grew, and by the time he reached the general area where the dragons gathered, he could barely breathe. He backed up, away, and found a nice large oak under where he could melt back into the shadows just enough to get away from all the people, but still have a great view of the massive powerful beasts. As he leaned back against the trunk, a large squirrel emerged from the bough above and chattered at him. “Did I take your spot, mate?” Kayne chuckled at the squirrel's annoyed expression. “Sorry, but I’m trying to hide from people too. Not leaving yet.” He turned back from the squirrel and glanced back towards the dragons. They probably wouldn’t even see him from there. Edited at June 9, 2024 11:53 PM by pyromaniac

Adramelech Fire Dragon | Male | New Dragon | Mentions: Open
Long claws sliced deep within the earth below as the brute moved from the line of trees, tilling the ground beneath him with each step. Rectangular head was held high as he stepped out into the sunlight, and thus into view of the humans gathering. He paid them little mind though, like they were no more interesting to him than locusts were.
A wide yawn parted his jaws, his tongue curling out and running along the side of his muzzle. The dark blue of his scales glinted in the light, the dark red hue of his markings coming to light beneath the direct sunlight. His wings were tucked neatly against his sides, only slightly shuffling with his steps. He paused as the last of him exited the tree line, the jagged thagomizer at the end of his tail swaying gently to and fro idley.
Adramelech had arrived in the area four days prior to now, letting his presence be known, and that he, the might fire lizard, would be choosing a rider this year. He had arrived in the valley itself two days prior. A rough oval of charred land was evidence of that, the place where he basked every morning in the light. It was a part of his routine and he refused to miss taking part in the ritual. Laying on hot coals in the sun? It was his favorite past time, and no amount of humans was going to prevent him from enjoying it.
As the Fire Dragon walked out to his spot in the clearing, he noticed the ever present, and annoying, tug in his chest, but, for now, he simply ignored it. He would find his rider, and claim them as his, but not until he'd basked enough. Nope. Not a second sooner.
A billow of smoke cleared his nostrils as the large male stretched out, his front claws sinking into the burnt earth, and he dragged them back towards his hind feet. It upturned and stirred much of the ground, softening it in the process. He clawed at the ground a few more times, before he stepped back, his jaws parting as a thick plume of fire erupted from him and slammed into the ground. Fire crackled quietly as it heated and burned the earth, turning into a hot bed perfect for baking.
Satisfied with the scorching temperature, Adramelech walked in a circle on it, much like a dog or cat would on a bed, and laid down, tucking his spiked tail against his side. He crossed his front legs before him, and stretched his wings to either side, anchoring them to the ground with the sharp wing talons on them. With a brief snort he closed his eyes, angled his head back and proceeded to bask in the sun, enjoying the warmth of the sun directly on his scales and wings.
Perfect.
