New Beginnings Everyone loves a good origin story, and for a small lupine family this is theirs. Two young adult wolves are beginning their own pack, and after securing a small, previously unclaimed territory, have succesfully had their first litter of pups. While this is a joyous time for the new parents, it's also a very scary and detrimental time for them. These pups are their future, the existence of their pack relies on their pups surviving to adulthood and allowing it to grow even further.
Excited about the future, everything seemed to be going well, until it just wasn't. A flood, caused by an overflowed river from the melted snow and a rainstorm has washed through part of their territory and left their nursing den uninhabitable. Despite it being two early for the pups to really leave the den, the parents must lead the pups to a secondary den site if they're to survive. Of course, the dangers don't end there.
Neighboring packs have taken notice of the newly forged pack, and aren't too fond of what it could bring. They know the territory is small, nothing to really fight over, but a pack that grows will need a larger territory. This means if they let the pack grow, their own territories could be at risk in the coming years. One pack has decided not to take any chances and sent a couple of wolves to do whatever is necessary to see that that never comes to fruit.
With the dangers of the neighboring packs, and the predators that would happily take a wolf pup as a meal, and the lonewolves intrigued by the newly formed pack, the new parents have their work cut out for them. One can only hope that all the tiny lives grow to be full fledged members of the pack, but the odds are certainly stacked against them.

The Roleplay RulesFollow all of Eve's and Wp's Rules.1. Be Active. This is a smaller group Rp, so the activity of everyone who joins is paramount. This means be active in Rp and Discussion. 2. There will several spots available, and if you're playing a Pup, I highly recommend taking a second character as well. But it isn't required. 3. This is a Semi-Realistic Rp with more Realistic Hints. Please make sure you read everything to make sure you're keeping to the more realistic parts. 4. For Characters, they have to have natural names of things the Wolves would know and see. Examples: Fawn, Fire, Snow, Cliff, Gray, etc. I know it's fun giving meaninful names, but I want to give this way a try. 5. The only wolves currently in the pack are the mated pair and their pups, though there is potential for outside growth. 6. This is a Semi-Literate Rp, so minimum of 1 to 2 paragraphs each Rp posts per character, including decent grammar, puncuation, and spelling. I expect to see this in Sign ups and Rp. 7. More Realistic Appearances Required for Wolves. Obviously no neon colors or accessories, but no markings or colors that you wouldn't find on a normal wolf. I may accept WP wolf colors/images, but it does depend on what the wolf looks like. 8. More Realistic Sizes are Required as well, so no wolves over 36 inches in height and over roughly 150 lbs in weight. I also want to see a variety of sized wolves, so if we have all massive ones, I'll stop accepting them. 9. Credit your images, or else your character will not be accepted. With images also, make sure they are uploaded to an acceptable image hosting site. 10. If you are fighting, allow others to reply, and do not dodge every hit, or land every hit. 11. No Perfect characters, godmoding, powerplaying etc.. None of that will be tolerated. 12. Don't have your character be "that guy". Don't have them constantly disobey orders, or constantly wander off--doing this sometimes is okay, but c'mon, really? It doesn't make you fun, it makes you annoying. 13. Three strikes and "you're out". Break three rules, and you will be removed. Get three warnings, and you will be removed. Likewise, if I have to tell you to fix your form three times, I reserve the right to deny your application. 14. Drama in the RP is encouraged, however, OOC (Out Of OC) drama will not be tolerated. If you have an issue, PM us, and I will sort it out. 15. Reservations Last 48 Hours. 16. Have Fun!

Their Territory
As Mentioned, the New Pack's territory is relatively small in comparison to other Wolf Territories. By, like, a lot. It's a decent territory, if you ignore the flooding, and able to support the family if they navigate it correctly.
The Southern Portion of their territory is forested with several stream running through it that connect to the large river the runs through this Southern Forest. It's a bit closer to the border, but close enough to the Southern Den that water was easy for them to reach either from a stream or the river directly. This Forest, though, covers majority of the Southern Portion of the Territory, and runs up a bit on both the East and West Side too.
In the center the trees thin out and become more sporadic, transitioning into plains or a very large meadow, which they refer to as the Center Valley for now. This was their primary hunting ground, as it was commonly visited by different herds of prey.
To the North the territory becomes harder terrain, transitioning into hills, and then a small forest before the mountains that form their border rise up high in the sky. This hilly terrain before the mountains is where the Northern Den lies. It's elevated, since it sits atop a mountain, and protected with Mountains directly behind it, and a forest on either side of it. It faces directly into the plains, but, because it is of higher elevation it's less likely to be flooded, and often goes unnoticed by predators unless occupied.
The Northern Ridgeline of Mountains is all that protects the small pack from the Northern Mountain Pack who has turned the Mountains and the various valleys within them into their home.
___________________________
The Two Dens
In the territory there are two main densites the wolves had to choose from. The Southern Den and the Northern Den.
The Southern Den is the larger of the two dens with multiple holes or caverns, whatever you want to call it, for the pack to occupy. The den resides in the forest just before it transitions into the valley, and was thought to be far enough away from the river to avoid being flooded. Unfortunately, the river flooded worse than they could have imagined, and that, combined with the rainfall fo a recent storm, has flooded the forest from the river, into the den, and about half way into the valley itself. However, with storms still coming, it's likely that the den would flood completely with time, making it detrimental that the pack moves. It's a good den site during the dry months, but once snow melts and rain falls, it becomes quite risky.
The Northern Densite isn't quite as large as the Southern Den, but big enough to do the job. It only have one main den within it, though it's large enough to hold the entire family if needed. It has one main entrance, and one smaller back entrance for escape if necessary. It has a couple of trees directly near it, but, otherwise, the forest starts several yards away on either side and a bit behind it too before turning into mountains. The big issue with this Den is the amount of predators that use the game trails near by when hunting. They ignore the den when it isn't occupied, but when it is, it becomes a bit of a point of interest for those looking for an easy meal. Whereas the Southern den didn't really have any immediate carnivorous threats.
Truly, what would benefit the pack would be to create a whole new den towards the East where it's slightly Higher Elevation, and not as heavily trafficked by other animals. However, that's something for a different time.
The Prey & Predators
As mentioned, the territory is quite small by wolf standards, but because it's been previous uninhabited the prey has flourished and is quite comfortable there. They aren't used to using wolves in the area. So the hunting isn't too bad, but they do move on quickly when spooked, so the pack relies on herds moving through their territory to reach another.
The Prey the Wolves Will Find includes: - Deer - Elk - Moose - Rabbits - Goats [they come from the mountains sometimes] - Caribou [only during Winter] - Mice - Beaver [at the River] - Squirrels - Moles
Obviously the small animals are not migratory, and live in the territory themselves. However, there are also several Moose who live there as well. Right now, because there are only two adults, they do not hunt Moose. They'd have to have far more adults to pull that off, so the Moose are more threat to them than prey. Caribou are migratory when seen, and only pass through for short periods of time in the winter. Whereas the Elk and Deer are migratory but herds are always passing through.
The Predators of the Territory: - Fox - Coyotes - Bear - Other Wolves - Mountain Lion - Lynx - Badgers
The main risk to the Wolves right now are Fox, Coyotes, and Bears. The Bears have no fear of the wolves, since there are only two of them, whereas the Fox and Coyotes will purposely try to seek out the Wolf Den when the parents are out. They are a significant threat to the wolf pups. For the Mountain Lions, they only occasionally are season, aren't as likely to bother the wolves unless starving or forced into conflict. Badgers are more likely to be opportunists, so they'll only go for a wolf pup if they happen to stumble on them. Lynx, for the most part, avoid the adult wolves, and will only go for wolf pups if they happen upon them and there is no sign of an adult. Even then, though, they're more likely to just move on. As for Other Wolves, they aren't so much as a threat because they'll hunt the family, but conflict wise they might fight them if they happen upon one another.
There is one small pack of coyotes that live in the territory and were the main predators of the area. So they likely will take an opportunity they can to kill or run the wolves out.

The Roleplay Will Begin About a Day After the Flood.
For the New Pack
They've been taking Shelter in the Parts of the Den that Weren't Flooded, as they couldn't risk trying to set out for travel during the storm. So everyone is a little Cold, Muddy, and Wet, and they're likely Hungry too. It would only take the Adults about a day to reach the place they're going to, but with the pups that increases to about 2 to 3 Days depending on any stops made during travel.
The Pups were Born at the End of May, and after almost 6 Weeks it's the Beginning of August. For the Area this is the Beginning of the Monsoon season for the Area, this combined with the melted snow filling the rivers caused the flooding of the Southern Half of their territory. Unbeknowst to them, this is pretty much why the area was unclaimed, it just wasn't worth it to defend since it Floods almost every year. However, the Northern part of their territory remains relatively untouched by the flooding, and they have a den there they can use. However, it's risky because this den is much closer to the Border of their territory where a Rival Pack, the Northern Mountain Pack, lives, making it just as dangerous as the Southern den in it's own way.
With the Promise of Storms and More Rain on the Horizon, they'll have to trek as quickly as possible to the new den or risk being swallowed up by more flooding.
For the Mountain Pack Wolves
They've already been given their assignment, and have been traveling to reach the New Pack's territory. Their primary den is far northern, purposely making it difficult for any other wolves to reach besides the pack. However, this meant they had to traverse majority of their territory to reach the New Pack's. Right now they're in the Mountains just passed the Border of the two packs, having rested in a cave the night before during the storm. Now that they sky is clear, for now, they'll have to venture into the territory to start getting intel. They'll also have to decide what the best course of action is for accomplishing their task. While it might just be two adult wolves and their pups they're supposed to be going up against, that doesn't mean it's going to be easy. The two parents have everything to lose, and likely will not make it easy for them. Plus they have to be wary of any other wolves since they aren't in the safety of their own territory.
For the Dispersal Wolves
They can kind of be starting where ever you want them to. They could be crossing over into the territory in hopes of passing through, or even trying to join this newly established pack. Who knows, perhaps they are even residing within the territory since it was previously unclaimed, and now they're either trying to avoid being discovered, or perhaps also looking to join. They can kind of be doing whatever where ever.

Sparrow New Pack | Alpha Female | 4 Yrs | Mentions: Her Family
The soft tap.... tap... tap... of water dripping off a near by leaf might have been soothing to someone, maybe at any other time, but right now? Nope, right now Sparrow just found it annoying. It had been a long night preceeded by a longer day. The storm had started sometime in the afternoon, making it absolutely miserable and impossible to do anything. It hadn't shown any signs of stopping either, and as it continued the river, which was already high from the melted snows earlier in the year, continued to swell, raging at the confines of it's banks. Never would she have thought it was end up overflowing and washing through their territory like a tidal wave, dousing everything that was already drenched in even more water. The earth just couldn't take anymore it seemed. Shortly before nightfall the den had begun to fill with water.
It had been a terrifying experience for her, trying to keep her pups from succumbing to the cold water lapping at their paws, and moving them to dryer, if that was even possible, parts of the den. For the rest of the night, that's what Sparrow did, any time the part of the den they were in started to get flooded, she would move them to a different. By the time the night was coming to an end, and the rain had stopped, majority of the entire den had been flooded. They were in one of the smaller parts of it, with a bit of water being in there with them. The she-wolf was using her body to keep the water away from her offspring, and trying her best to keep them warm.
A soft sigh rolled through her and she slowly rose to her paws, carefully shifting the dark form of one of her pups from her side. He groaned quietly but nestled into one of his sisters and fell silent again. Dredging out of the muddy den, she looked around as she moved. The water on the ground sloshed at her paws as she looked, her ears falling back against her skull. Her fur was soaked in water, mud marring one side of her coat, giving her an overall disheveled appearance.
Walking back to the den she ducked her head down and called out softly. "Come on pups, time to get up," she stood at the den, prepared to help pull them out in case the muddy entrance was too difficult for them to climb out on their own. Her ears planed a bit, her jaws parting to pant softly in stress as she contemplated what the best plan for them was. She know the storms would keep coming, so they couldn't remain at their current den, but traveling across the territory to the other den? That would be difficult with the pups. First, though? She had to get them out, move them to a dryer place, and get them fed. Afterwards they could focus on moving.

Raven|New Pack|pup|almost 6 weeks| M: Her family Dont let darkness win, you have to win for your family, Raven repeated in her head as cold filled her bones. She has hungry, wet and cold, the worst things to be all in one. She hated the river that overfilled and poured into her nice warm den. Most of all she hated feeling this way, and seeing her family this way. Just then one of her siblings bumped into her, making her open her eyes, to see her dirty mud self. She layed her head back down but lifted it up again when she heard her mom. Raven stretched before trying to make her way to her mom. Between her siblings, the water and the slipery mud, it proved harder than normal. Finally Raven stumbled out of the den onto her mothers feet. Raven had never really showed her emotions much but small tears formed in her eyes as she looked up at her mom. Autumn|Loner|4y|M: none, open Autumn yawned as she looked out from her den. It was a small one she had built it morning before the storm. She instatly knew she should get right to work once she saw the storm clouds. Right now though, Autumn was bored, she hated being stuck in a small den with nothing to do. If she were in a pack she would tell the pups stories as she waited for the rain to stop, but out here? All alone? Shes not the crazy enough to tell the rain stories, besides it was the very thing keeping her inside. . Finally the rain stopped and Autumn finally was able to stretch her legs. The ground was soggy and wet but Autumn didnt want to go back into her small death hole. Instead she decided to see if any small prey got flooded out of their holes, so that she could end their misery. Her stomach growled as she thought of food. "Dont worry ill get some food" she said to herself as she made her way down the mountin. Autumn had live here practically her whole life so she knew the lower parts flooded when storms came. Talon New Pack | Pup | Male | Mentions: His Family
The small, dark pup had been resting peacefully, despite being wet and cold. Key word being had. He'd been practically laying atop his mother's side when she gently slid him to the much colder ground, causing him to whine and nestle into the lighter fur of his sister, Sorrel. It wasn't really comfortable, as he was covered in mud, his fur was wet, and overall it was causing him to be relatively cold. The heat of his siblings and parents help, but now that his mother was gone, he could feel it beginning to seep into his bones.
He was doing his best to ignore it, to fall back into the soothing darkness of sleep when he heard the familiar voice of his mother calling from outside. Talon's ears flattened and he whined, but obediantly lifted his head to peer at where the light was draping in from. He could just make out the paws of his mother standing at the entrance, waiting for them to follow her words. He grumbled as he pushed up slow, paws sliding a bit in the mud as he did. It took him a moment but eventually he got purchase and made his way over to the entrance and began to shimmy up it.
It took him a minute to get close to the top, his little legs sliding out beneath him a few times. Thankfully when he was within reach his mother reached down, gripping him by his scruff and pulled him from the den, setting him on his feet next to her. He wagged his tail and nuzzled her, earning himself licks to his forehead.
"Good morning, Mama," he mumbled, his words slurred a bit from sleep. He glanced at the dark pup at his mom's feet, one his sisters, and wagged his tail at her a bit. He carefully moved to lean against his mom's back leg, wide yawns repeatedly spreading his jaws. His eyes went to his mom's belly and he inched closer, only for her to growl softly at him.
"Not now, Talon, I'll feed you all when we move to a dryer spot," he whined but nodded gently, leaning back against her leg as he waited for the others to rouse. Edited at October 7, 2022 02:24 PM by Imperial Sands

Raven|New Pack|pup|f| M: Her family Raven watched as her mother bent down to get her only brother. She quickly wiped a tear that had fell and smiled at Talon as he looked over to her. Her eyes then jolted to her mom as she softly growled and saw that Talon was trying to eat. "Yay!" raven barked a bit weaker than normal as her mom said that they would eat soon. For the first time since the storm and the flooding ravens tail wagged weakly as she waited for her siblings to come out so she could eat.
