Into the Wilderness For years, scientists have been working to reintroduce wolves into an area where they've never been before. Their sole wish was so that they could hopefully thrive without the threat of humans and natural predators. These wolves, however, are unique. Most of them were born and raised in captivity, though with as little human interaction as possible. These wolves don't truly know humans nor do they understand what is currently happening. All that these wolves understand is: this is a chance to live freely.
However, that's not to say that there won't be any challenges for them. Hardships will begin on release as these wolves will have to establish a territory, a hierarchy, and figure out how to work together to thrive. They have to expand their population while facing the threats of neighbouring packs, who are looking to increase the size of their own land. Powerful, power-hungry packs who will not let a group as small as them stand in the way of their own desires. If that isn't difficult enough, they will be forced to face nomads who are seeking out mates and that will stop at nothing to obtain any.
These wolves will be forced to sort everything out. If they fail, them and their future generations will all perish, and it would all of been for nothing. These wolves know nothing about the wild. To them, they were simply stories told to them by their parents. It was a simple fantasy, and it was not what they knew. The wild was beyond the fence they lived within, and it was told to be limitless. Now they are on the other side of that fence. They will be forced to work together, or they will all surely fall. _________________________________Really Really Rough Draft. The Roleplay Rules
1. Activity is a Must. This is required for Discussion and Rp Thread. For Posts, I would say No Less than One Every Other or Every 2 Days.
2. Maximum of 2 Characters Per Person. They also must not be the same gender, unless given permission by me or a Co-lead. An Example would be if we're down a female, and you already have one but want a second character. 3. No Perfect Characters, Power Playing, Godmodding, Etc. This won't be tolerated at all.
4. This Rp is going to be Semi to Advanced Literate, so a Minimum of 1-2 Paragraphs per Rp Post [For each individual Character]. I expect to see this literacy in Sign Up Sheets as well.
5. There will be No Pups at the start of this rp, though litters are expected and allowed as the Rp progresses. This means all wolves are 2 Years and Up.
6. Expect your Wolf to get Injured or Even Killed. Fighting among wolve in this rp, especially as they establish themselves, will be common at first and likely throughout.
7. I would prefer there not be any established mates, but I am okay with wolves courting one another. I also encourage drama, so love triangles, etc. are allowed.
8. This is semi-realistic, so do your research before making a character.
9. Credit your images, or else your character will not be accepted. They Must be Free to Use Stock from Deviantart. Any other Stock Isn't Allowed. With images also, make sure they are uploaded to an acceptable image hosting site.
10. If you are fighting, allow others to reply, and do not dodge every hit, or land every hit.
11. Three strikes and "you're out". Break three rules, and you will be removed. Get three warnings, and you will be removed. Likewise, if we have to tell you to fix your form three times, we reserve the right to deny your application.
12. Drama in the RP is encouraged, however, OOC (Out Of OC) drama will not be tolerated. If you have an issue, PM us, and we will sort it out.
13. Reservations last 48 hours!
14. 21. Lastly, and most importantly, have fun. And Read Everything. Edited at May 9, 2022 11:17 PM by Imperial Sands

Important Things
About the Released Wolves This is information you will want to keep in mind when creating your wolf, and roleplaying them. Majority of these wolves (90% of them), were born in captivity, however, their interaction with humans has been incredibly, and purposefully, limited. This is to give them the best odds and natural instincts at surviving on their own. These means the humans did not come in and feed them every day, tends to injuries, create dens, etc. Most of this was left up to the wolves to figure out on their own.
For many of these wolves, they lived in some form of group prior to being released (not necessarily with one another, but it's up to you). They may not have the natural skills or knowledge of wild-born wolves, but the scientists in charge have taken every step they can to give the Released Wolves an opportunity to survive and thrive in the Wilderness.
The Season It's Mid to Late Winter, with Several Weeks still Remaining before the Cold gives way to Spring. There is snow in some parts, the more northern parts of the territory, around the mountains, but the southern portion of it is pretty clear. At most there is a light dusting in the southern portion before it melts about mid-day.
It's chilly, but not uncomfortably cold, though it gets colder at night to the point that being in pairs or in dens is almost required. This will decreases as the days pass and the temperatures increase.
Storms are not uncommon during this time, but not frequent either. There is likely to be rain in the next few days, but for now the skies are clear.
The Territory The area that the wolves have been released to is capable of supporting a large pack of wolves, perhaps even two if they remained on either side of it. This was chosen on purpose in hopes that the wolves' ranks would swell, and might produce another pack, and let some of them disperse into other areas. It was also chosen in hopes that they wouldn't have territory disputes right away with other packs.
Most of the Territory is forested lands, with some of it being meadows spread throughout, a bit of a mountain range in the north to north eastern portion of the area. The mountains start out small in the more North Eastern portion, and grow into gigantic behemoths as they travel north and out of the area. There are plenty of small caves, dens, outcroppings, etc for the wolves to stay in at times. The mountains provide natural shelter, and act as a temporary barrier for other packs looking to expand. However, they are also perilous in the fact that, when it rains some of the dens and caves flood with water and rockslides aren't uncommon. In the dead of winter, Avalanches are also a problem in the larger mountains.
The rest of the territory is mostly forest, ranging from being sparse down in the southern portions where there are less steep gullies, which eventually give way to almost like a valley. It's got few trees in it, but tall flourishing grasses that, even in winter, lurk beneath the snow to provide nutrients for prey, keeping them in the territory year round. This area is particularly at risk of fire during the summer when it dries out, but it hasn't happened for a while. There is evidence of a previous fire, but it's faint.
The rest of the territory, between the Southern Valley and the Northern Mountains is forest, sparser in the southern and thicker in the north. There are various meadows throughout the forest, which can be inhabited by deer and other animals for wolves to hunt. In the more Northern parts it can be rough terrain with several steep ditches, dips, and small valleys. Prey can also be found bedded down in these areas, as well as offer den sites for wolves. As they go south, the terrain evens out and becomes easily trekked.
The Grove, which is the release site for the wolves, is a large grouping of dense forest that is barriered by a meadow. The trees are pretty dense her, and offer protection from the elements. The center of the grove of trees is another smaller meadow that has different pushes and boulders in it. This area, and the trees surrounding it offer the perfect spot for the main camp, or main den, of the pack. Pups born here will have an advantage of being safer due to the plethora of natural hiding spots, but also for the natural amount of different spots dens can be created. Theres also already a large indent from a rolled boulder that creates the perfect spot for a kill pile when the pack wants to stock up on food.
Water sources are not rare in this territory, and there are several the pack can easily reach. One of the main ones is the wide stream that travels through the territory parallel to the southern border but nearer to the center. It is attached to a large river that winds up from the South Western corner and exists in the North Western area. There is also several small streams and ponds in the mountains. Lastly, there is a large lake in the more Western section of the territory. It's close to the center, with rocky and sandy banks surrounding it.
Area Names: Southern Valley Northern Mountains The Lake The Southern Streams The Grove
Prey in the Territory There are plenty of different prey items in the territory. Deer and Elk are the most common, with a large deer herd visiting the valley on a regular basis. Deer travel throughout the territory either alone or in small groups, though occasionally a larger herd makes an appearance.
There are also smaller animals in the area like hares, mice, etc. With fish populating majority of the water sources like the stream, river, and lake.
There are also Moose who travel through, though it isn't as common.

For the First Posts
The Rp Will Start with the Wolves Being Released. They will have just been transported to the release site and still all be in their containers. Initial posts will include them being inside their release containers, and then them opening leaving them to entire their new domain. The wolves have been released in the center of the territory, close to a water source, a larger stream that runs parallel to the southern border. Their location is near the base of the mountains that reach down from the North Eastern portion of the new area. It's a grove of trees that offer natural spots for den sites, with a small clearing with boulders and bushes in the center of the grove. The scientists chose this spot as they believed it to be the most likely to be chosen for den sites due to it's soil consistency and protected location.
It's natural that most of the wolves will be a bit startled and unsure of what's going on, and will likely keep together until they become more comfortable with the area. It would be likely that they'll get a den site, or home base, set up prior to exploring the area and learning about their new territory. This time frame where they aren't patrolling will leave room for Nomadic Wolves to enter the territory in hopes of taking up residence.

Jira Released Wolf | Four | Female | Mentions: Open
Fear. It eiminated from the canine's container as she crouched in the back of the cage that held her. Her ears were flattened against her skull, belly low to the ground as she swayed with the movement of her crate being unloaded. Her muscles tensed, shoulders practically aching from how on edge she felt. Trickles of something new, something fresh made it's way into the stuffy crate, but she found herself barely paying attention it as movement outside shuffled the grass.
Growling softly, her lip peeling back to reveal her teeth, she tried to follow the sound with her eyes as they moved to the front of her container. Her fur bristled as creaking and sliding noises were herd, preparing for whatever was to come.
Suddenly the door slid up, blasting her with light and area, causing her to cringe back at first. It lasted only seconds though before she propelled herself forward and away from the cage that had previous held her. Her legs sprinted forward in haste, trying to create as much distance as quickly as she could. However, the unknown surrounding forest around her had her quickly sliding to a stop and looking around in what could only be described as sheer panic.
Panting softly she spun slowly in a circle, trying to take it all in. Confusion quickly took over and her brow line furrowed, her lips twitching as a result. "What the?" She murmured out between breaths, and took a hesitant sniff. This wasn't her home. This wasn't where she had lived for the past four years. Where was she?
Her fur began to bristle all over again as uncertainty crept in and she growled lowly. Where was everyone? What about the rest of her litter? Her Siblings? Were they here? She thought she had smelled at least wolves from the place she had come from, but she couldn't be sure. All she knew was that she needed to find the others, whoever that was, as being in a new place alone was a recipe for disaster.

Akilina / 4 / Female / Released Wolf / M: Aspen; Jira The day had come. All of it was real now, if she liked it or not. She didn’t know what the day would entail, but upon being sedated in a rather messy scene and awakening in a small white crate with holes in the sides, she was rather scared and freaked out, but still curious about her surroundings. Aki was very peeved also, and bashed against the sides of the crate, wanting freedom and feeling claustrophobic. After it was no use, she lay down and tried to rest her head as the crate shook from the beaten road beneath her. She awoke with a start as the thing carrying her shuddered to a stop. Her white pelt stood on end, and she growled as she felt the crate being picked up. She bobbed around for a few seconds before the crate was finally put down and the motion came to a halt. She sighed, her legs trembling, and shakily pulled her feet beneath her as she stood up. Akilina then heard a clinking sound and the door to her crate folded down. She spotted grass and the forest, but no scents that were new to her, so she stayed where she was for a few moments before pawing the ramp and stepping out so that her nose could take in the new smells and her eyes could see the sights. Then, with a massive leap to clear the ramp, she bounded into the woods, stopping a few strides short of the trees and whining to the other wolves. They would have to stick together, she thought, almost excited about the new lands. Spotting her brother tearing hell for leather down to her, she nudged his shoulder playfully as they stood side by side. She glanced warily around, spying Jira there also, and gave her a friendly nod. Edited at May 9, 2022 11:33 PM by Astrolistic

Aspen / 4 / Male / Released Wolf / M: Akilina; Jira Aspen pawed angrily at the crate, eager to get out. His sister’s whine had made him anxious, as if he wasn’t already about to burst out the confinements of the crate anyway. He relentlessly clawed at the white wood, making scratch marks all of the door, and then, with a crash, the door fell to the ground, the humans backing if shaking their heads in fear. He snarled and leapt out of the box, not even caring that he had left everything that was familiar to him behind. Yes, of course he was scared, but his annoyed and fearful state of mind had only worsened because of the small crate. Which barely fit his large frame. He quickly trotted over to Aki and licked her cheek as they reunited. “What the heck is this place anyway.” He asked her, confused as he surveyed his surroundings for the first time. His mind whirred as he tried to think of all the places he knew, but he couldn’t recognise this woodland area at all. His eyes flashed with panic, and then his saw Jira, an equally incredulously expression on her face. “Jira! Where…where the heck are we?”

Malice | 4 | Female | Nomad | Near Nothern Mountains | m: open
Malice, who had recetly traversed nearly the distance of 100km finally came upon an area which seemed rather situable for a wolf to live. She had recently chased a rabbit in hopes of a meal, but the creature escaped her grasp. She would have to cope with her empty stomach for the time being and try to stay downwind as she searched for a place to sleep later that day. Having no pack made Malice especially vulnerable, a position she did not particularly enjoy. Not only was she vulnerable, she also found it harder to catch prey, which would simply not do for her. She was always an excellent huntress, but every wolf needs a pack, it's simply how nature goes.
As she trekked along the rocky paths, ditches, and powered through into the forest, she began to catch the scent of a few other wolves. Perhaps it was a pack she thought at first, but she soon realized the scents we're too different for it to be a pack, a rather strange occurrence. It was odd for a group of wolves to be gathered and not be in an alread established pack. She crept through the forest to carefully survey the wolves below.
As she got closer she spotted at least four wolves, but a disgusting wretched smell suddenly assaulted her. The smell of humans. Malice detested humans, the very thought of such horrid creatures made her fur stand on end and her hackles raise. These wolves were somehow connected to humans. They reeked of humans, and it disgusted her. They were either dropped her by humans, or had some contact with humans, either way, Malice decided it was best if she got out of there.
She trotted back through the forest towards the mountains to hopefully find a place far from the large group of wolves—and the possible human invasion of the area.

Hanta Nomadic Wolf | 9 Yrs | Male | Mentions: Open
A pale figure, with the likeness of a phantom, was resting within the exposed roots of a tree. It had been his denning location since he had been left in the vacant land, and it proved to be decent shelter, even during the coldest of months. Dug out to fit his body, which had thinned since his arrival, it kept the aging male warm, even has his breath misted over it's branches.
A soft groan escaped the male, milky eyes parting to look vacantly at the forest floor before him. There wasn't much he filled his days with anymore, and so he had long since stopped being an early riser. With no pack to help look after, Hanta no longer made it a priority to be out and about before the sun, instead allowing it to drift him awake with it's rays. Today had been different though. A stirring in the land had woken him, whispers of something new arriving stirring up the forest with promise. He hadn't actually risen, instead he had tucked his head in under his paws and ignored the sounds of the forest as it awoke around him.
Now, though? He was unable to sleep any longer, and he found himself slowly pushing from his den, retreating from it's safety. His ears flicked, but the look on his face was tired and worn. His features, which no longer held the dignified sharpness of a youthful wolf and sunken, his coat hanging to him like a loose fitting jacket.
A sharp yawn parted his jaws and snapped them closed, a hollow clack filling the air as the aged bones protested the motion. Foggy eyes scanned the forest for any immediate threats, the world around him moving with a fuzzy blur. His eye sight had started to go within the last year, and while he wasn't anywhere close to completely blind, everything had a fuzzyness to it. Like looking through a grainy film, not difficult to make things out, but annoying and greyed.
"Time for a drink," he announced to no one in particular, and trodded forth, making his way towards the stream that wasn't located to far away from his den. It was his morning routine: drink, warm up, find a snack. The latter not always being fulfilled. While morning used to be the best time for him to hunt, he found his old bones just weren't ready for any streinous activity that early in the morning. So food often came at dusk, when prey was getting food for the last time before bedding down to sleep. So, if he was lucky, he would find a snack, and it was rarely anything more than a snack, and more often nothing at all.
Grunting as he pushed up the ravine his den rested within, the male struggled up the side a bit, his legs wobbling here and there as he traversed the steep side. Could he go down a bit further and venture up a less steep hill, yes, absolutely, but was he going to? No, he was a stubborn old goat, and he refused to let a measley hill stop him.
Panting as he reached the top, the thinning male plodded forwards, his gate, while relatively graceful despite his stiffness, moved with languid efficiency. It was if his legs moved on muscle memory alone instead of actual strength and energy. They were used to the pattern of his step, so even as he aged, he kept some of the fluidness to his gait that he had when he was younger, albeit it limped from time to time now.
Making decent time on his trek through the forest, he arrived in the opening around the stream rather quickly, and approached it's banks calmly. He had just been about to lower his muzzle when an unusual sound caught his ear. It wasn't anything he had heard before, something unnatural about it made his skin wriggle beneath his fur. All instincts in him told him to move away from the sound, but he was old, and curiosity out weighed his survival instincts at this point. He'd lived a long life.
Venturing closer to the sound, he heard it again, followed by the faint, and distant, sound of paws slapping the ground. He paused, ears erect on his head as he listened. It was then that a smell wafted into his nostrils, leaving him taken aback.
Wolves?
But not just any wolves, but ones that reeked of humans. That stench was familiar, and it was laced clearly with the wolves'. Uncertainty clouded the male, and he found himself retreated, tail pressing against his back legs and ears against his skull. While he was packless and missed the interactions of a pack, he wasn't stupid enough to traverse into a group of wolves released here by men without investigating them a bit first.
No, he would wait, and observe. So, for now, the male traveled a bit away from where he could smell the wolves, so he could get his drink hopefully in peace.
