Two packs have had an uneasy coexistence in the foothill forests they both call home. Neither trusts the other, but they are, in a sense, sister packs. The Uldre wolves and the Svelt members meet once every four full moons to discuss how the peace will be kept.

At their last meeting, however, the beta of the Uldre Pack was found strangled. With so many scents in the area, it was impossible to tell who had murdered him, and the already tense peace between the packs was broken. They have begun passive aggressive tactics to try and blame each other for the death, and their packs are coming closer and closer to all-out war.

Unbeknownst to them, however, the true murderers are dwelling on the edge of their territories. A group of rogues are staging a total takeover, and the disharmony within the packs is bringing them ever closer to their endgame.

RP RULES

1. All WP rules apply. This is PG 13.

2. Four character limit for now. Make sure you are able to maintain posts for all of your characters. If you can't, kill one or two off. No being mates with yourself; relatives is fine.

3. This is a relatively realistic RP; no OP characters or unrealistic colors or measurements. No decorations on wolves (earrings, necklaces, etc).

4. This is a semi-lit to literate RP. I expect 180+ words per response and this should be expressed in your forms.

5. Personalities and appearances must be at least two paragraphs (150+ words) of full sentences. Measurements may be included in appearances.

6. All pictures used must be properly credited, uploaded to an approved image hosting site, and must be able to be used in the first place. Forms that do not follow this will be rejected. If you can't find stock but still want an image, either ask for help or use the WolfPlay Customs.

7. No OOC drama. If you have an issue with someone, PM me or them and talk it out like the young adults we are.

8. I'll allow two high ranks per person for now. High ranks are Alphas, Betas, Band Lead, and Band Second.

9. In the "Other" section of your form, suggest an additional rule/tradition for one of the packs or the band. You can also PM it to me.

10. Reservations last 3 days. If you need longer, PM me. Life happens.

11. Writers block happens. If you are struggling to add to your form, I'll accept shorter paragraphs/bulleted lists for appearance and personality if you can show that your actual RP responses will be at least semi-literate in level. I'll stalk your past RP responses for this, or you can send me a sample.

Uldre Pack Rules and Traditions

- Alpha's word is law.

- Alphas are chosen by bloodline, and thus the position cannot be challenged for.

- The eating order is as follows: Mothers and Pups, Elders, Alpha, Beta, Deltas, Omega.

- Do not travel the woods alone after dark.

- Mating with a lone wolf or a Svelt wolf is forbidden and punishable by death, exile, or demotion.

- When a wolf dies, they are immediately buried, and any immediate family members stand vigil for the night. The deceased is often buried with prey in hopes that they will have prosperous hunts in the stars.

- It is an unspoken rule, but heavily socially enforced, that the alpha and beta are related.

- A pup's initiation into the pack consists of several trials of skill and wit. Not every pup survives.

- All wolves who want to join the pack go through the trials as well, but they also immediately take the rank of Omega.

Svelt Pack Rules and Traditions

- Alphas' word is law.

- In order to make a challenge to the Alphas, you must be at least 4 years of age and already have a mate.

- The eating order is as follows: Mothers and Pups, Elders, Alphas, Betas, Deltas, Omega.

- Do not travel the woods alone after dark.

- Mating with a lone wolf or an Uldre wolf is forbidden and punishable by death, exile, or demotion.

- Every full moon, the pack will gather to howl to the ancestors and ask for their blessing upon the next month's hunts and battles.

- Successful hunts are celebrated and attributed to their ancestors and the favor of the moon god.

- Their dead are buried by the river at night, as these wolves believe the stars and moon reflecting on the waters guide the spirits home.

Band Rules and Traditions

- The lead wolf's word is law and cannot be questioned.

- Any wolf over the age of 3 may challenge for the lead position. If they lose, they may die, be exiled, or otherwise shunned for a time.

- They do not bury their dead, but they will leave the bodies of the deceased at the roots of large trees.

Uldre Pack Ranks Explained

Alpha

The head of the pack. He or she is the offspring of the previous alpha, selected after the death of their mother or father. The new alpha is chosen out of all the living sons and daughters of the former via a harder version of the initiation trials. They are the most fit to lead the pack. The alpha does not have to take a mate before taking the position, but they are expected to have pups within a year or two of being chosen.

Beta

The second in command, usually a sibling or close relative of the Alpha. They are rigorously tested for the position as well to make sure the pack is in good hands. Can be male or female. They are in charge of hunts, and they strategize with the alpha during times of war.

Delta

Regular members of the pack. The mates of the alpha and beta are within this rank, and there is an unspoken hierarchy within the delta group. The leaders' mates are generally at the top of this, or at least held in high respect.

Omega

Either new members or demoted ones, omegas are seen and not heard until they prove themselves worthy of respect. Pups that give up on their trials are placed in this rank until they try again the following season.

Elder

Wolves 13+ that have done their duty and are retired. They are babysitters and storytellers, and they are in charge of choosing the resting places of wolves who die.

Pup

An uninitiated member of the pack under the age of 1. They begin basic training at four months old, but it only becomes rigorous at about ten months. Pups that are training have mentors within the delta rank.

Svelt Pack Ranks Explained

Alphas

The alphas are a mated pair. The alpha male is the official head, but his mate is seen as his equal. Their word is law, and it is dangerous to go against them. If an alpha pair live to the age of 15, then they usually retire and let a younger pair take up the mantle. They are known as Alpha and are rarely referred to by their given name.

If an alpha is challenged and they lose, they are demoted back to delta or, in some cases, Omega. Their mate will also be demoted.

Beta

The beta pair are generally mates, but they don't have to be. They are two of the strongest and wisest wolves of the pack, and they are in charge of enforcing the Alphas' rules and helping wherever the Alphas desire. If the current Alpha loses their position, the Beta is also demoted to a delta and a new Beta is appointed.

Delta

Deltas are the regular members of the pack that are at least a year old. A pup is considered a Delta once they pass their hunting test and receive their given name. Deltas are the hunters and warriors, the pup sitters and the mothers. They remain deltas until they either reach 13 years of age or are promoted or demoted.

Omega

This wolf was, for whatever reason, demoted. Whether it was for deceit, a defect, an injury, or tyranny, they are the lowest member of the pack. There does not need to be an omega. Occasionally, the omega may regain their delta status through acts of valor or bravery.

Omegas are not known by their given names. To the pack, they are Omega.

Elder

Elders are any wolves over 13 years of age. They are highly respected and are the primary caretakers and tutors of young pups.

Pup

These are the young of the pack. They stay in the camp for the first four or five months of life and then are allowed to watch hunts and practice battling with the deltas.

Lead

This wolf has total control over all those below them. They are akin to an alpha, but are much more ruthless and gained their position by killing the previous Lead.

Second

This is usually the mate of, or next of kin to, the lead. They have less power than the lead, but they are still to be feared. If the lead is killed or leaves, the second usually leaves the band.

Member

These are the regular wolves in the band. They are all vicious creatures that were raised in brutal conditions; only the strongest survived past puphood. This rank consists of all ages. Any member over the age of 3 may challenge the lead.

The Deceased Beta

This is a basic form so that affiliated wolves have something to go off of.

Appearance

This male is, frankly, massive. Standing at 34 inches and weighing in at nearly 170 pounds, he certainly has all the qualifications for brute force. His body is well-muscled and set in such a way as to provide him with impeccable strength and endurance. His speed and agility are hindered by his size, but he is not in a deep deficit of such things.

His thick coat has a deep black base coloration. Slate and silver hairs create a rippling appearance and lighten him in some places. His neck, shoulders, and hind ventral are most decorated with this color mixture. His elbows and along the inside of his shoulder blades are also significantly lighter. A few light gray patches reside on his flanks, elbows, tail, and back legs. His face is a shiny black; how light it appears depends on the sun's strength. His coat, overall, has an almost liquid-like appearance to it.

Agnar's eyes are a pale yellow. They almost appear gray, though the slight hint of gold offsets that notion. His stare is intense, unwavering, and cold. While he does not make an effort to really hide his emotions, his relaxed face often appears as though he is much more mysterious than he is intending to be.

Combined with his foreboding coloration and large stature, this male is quite intimidating to those who don't know him -- and even some who do. His walk is a powerful, languid stride. There is no uncertainty to this male; he has a steady, eerily calm way about him. His low tone is composed and collected, even in the most heated of situations.

Personality

Agnar has a cold stoicism to him. As his appearance suggests, he is a very capable individual, and not just in physical strength. His mental prowess is just as great; this wolf is extremely intelligent and strategy-driven. He is a warrior through and through; his plans are always centered around the goal of maintaining the pack's wellbeing and success. The means by which that occurs is completely in the air. He can play fair, or he can fight dirty.

Agnar is loyal to his pack as a whole. Certain wolves hold more respect or admiration than others, but he would never cause harm to any of them from a place of malice. Unless, of course, they were traitors or otherwise unworthy of any wolf's respect. Agnar has no problems with bloodshed. He's killed before and he will kill again, and perhaps one day he himself will be killed. It is simply the way of life.

Even during times of peace and overall relaxation, this male is calculating. He is not always thinking up plans for battle or hunts; occasionally, he thinks of more normal things as well, such as trying to figure out another wolf's mind or predicting the weather. He can be a fairly easygoing creature, though he is never one to be stepped upon. Agnar will not hide his dislike for a wolf, no matter their rank, especially if they treat all those below them as wretches.

He is patient in some ways and short in others. When dealing with pups, executing strategies, and hunting or fighting, he has all the time in the world to watch, respond, and perform perfectly. However, when it comes to adolescent wolves, whining, blatantly snide comments, or picking fights, this male becomes the "you started it and I will finish it" figure. And he will act on his words, usually to the hurt ego of the other parties.

He does not share his feelings or thoughts outside of working. Even those who consider themselves to be closest to him have but a small glimpse into his emotions, his desires. He has a strong set of morals and does not deviate from them; Agnar can be described as quite chivalrous, though he is no respecter of rank alone. Lineage means nothing to him, and anyone who banks on their heritage for sway in anything disgusts him. Agnar does not tolerate obnoxiousness, whining, laziness, lying, or anything else of the sort.

He is a rule follower. He can be fairly snarky when annoyed or agitated. Agnar is mature, though, and he almost always acts as such. He will become playful around pups and perhaps share a joke or two with other males his age, but he is mostly just a wisened wolf with leadership capabilities.

Backstory

He was born and raised in the pack. He excelled in his apprenticeship and is now serving as the alpha male in the pack. That's all there is to it, really.

This female can be considered to having an autumn colored pelt. The melody of the fall colors splashed along her pelt is quite pretty to look at. From the burnt orange colored fur intermixed with tones of darker red that reminded one of a maple tree in fall. Not to mention the rich and earthy browns surrounding her haunches and the lighter versions around her face with a mix of creamy white coloration along her underside. Along her back and spine you can see dark grey and black markings with hints of white and silver, possibly an identifier for her . This female has a nice amount of fur, and she likes to keep it well maintained with regular grooming. In the summertime her fur appears more darker when it sheds and in the wintertime it's more lighter.

This female stands at a sturdy 30 inches in height and weights 100lbs and 105lbs on a good day. This female is a mixture of both power and speed - of course as there are wolves bigger than her and smaller than her she isn't the best, however she is better equipped to deal with both. She is able to move rather swiftly while being able to dish out some medium sized blows. This female bears a muscular yet leaner build , you can see the power and elegance in her walk and step when she moves. Her legs are well equipped for running just like her teeth are well equipped for hunting.

The first thing you notice when meeting this young dame is the way she carries herself. You can note the confidence in her strides, and the way she holds her head high and doesn't seem to every have it lowered in submission. It may come off as arrogance, but it's just not that, it's more so of the fact that she is sure of herself - knowing and having trust in her own ability to get things done and moving around. She knows she's smart and talented - and she knows she has a future ahead of her and that she will become someone by playing her cards right. She's very intelligent, able to analyze and assess situations - able to use them to her advantage, along with being able to take charge when needed or required. She's rather calculating and methodical : her decisions always looking at all the angles, quick to see the possible loopholes and dangers. It's quite dangerous, as she can be a rather valuable ally and a rather dangerous enemy depending on how she decides to use this gift. After all, it can be hard to find someone gifted in strategy and tactical thinking. Most will say she's a gifted speaker - her words dripping like honey from her voice, always able to lower the guards of others, finding a way to make people comfortable and willing to speak to her is a great talent of hers. It's not that she asks or likes to pry, it's just that she has such an aura that makes her seem so trustable and like the person you can confide in. But, if they were careful, they would know the serpent sitting next to them - yes, she can quite persuasive with her words, but just like a viper - she has quite the venom to her.

Though she's sociable, one would say that she's rather selective about who she's friends with and who's in her presence. Most can also agree she's rather stoic as well - most not being able to getting a read on her as she always bears a rather neutral expression on her face, either that or her emotions are unreadable at times. They also would say she can be rather cold - respecting her space and boundaries are a big thing for her and if you can't respect that then she won't respect you, no matter who you are. Not to mention, becoming her friend is an even harder thing - she's very wary of strangers, having no trust for them in the slightest. So someone she doesn't know trying to be nice to her, or earn her approval or friendship will earn her distrust. One would have to be rather persuasive and persistent to earn her friendship, and that'd be quite the achievement to do such a thing. She also has a rather calming demeanor, always seeming to have an unending well of patience with others around her - and though she has patience, that doesn't mean she won't forget things others have done to her. She is one to hold grudges be it for minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and even years - and the outcome is the same in every case : they get what's coming to them.

One can say that she's morally grey, not exactly good and not exactly bad. She has good qualities, yet - sometimes they're overshadowed by her less desirable traits. She's not one to see the world in black and white - she understands the dimensions and understands that sometimes you have to do bad things to be considered good. So if being cruel and apathetic gets her places then so be it, she's not afraid to go for what she wants, when she wants - she'd just prefer to bide her time to see what would go for her advantage. She can be manipulative and quite vicious when the situation calls for it - able to use her words and influence to flip a seemingly impossible situation in her favor. And orchestrating events from the shadows and setting things into motion, even with just the slightest of her influence, but not to mention using the information and things she knows about the emotion and tendencies of others to her advantage. It may seem selfish and self-centered, but it is a way to survive. Or use it against someone she views as her enemies, she's quite a good actress as well : knowing how to use her tears and emotions to her advantage. It's quite easy to pity those who become an enemy of hers, because they most likely won't come out of such a confrontation alive. While she isn't necessarily violent, she isn't above it - you think she isn't above clawing your throat out? You're dead wrong, just push her to her limits and you'll find out the predatory creature she can be. She may not appear it, but she's one to enjoy conflict and drama - and sometimes she's one to stir it up just because it's as she would put it : boring. When it comes to alliances or gaining her help with troublesome situations - it's easy to say it's like making a deal with the devil : it comes with a price. And how high of price are you willing to pay? And besides she's not one to always trust those she helps, who's to say that someone won't find your body of the side of the cliff or in the river?

There have been many discrepancies about this dame's behavior and nature, but there is one consensus : she scares others. Most would say, that even though she bears an easygoing demeanor- there is something rather eerie about her, like theirs a cold trail of ice and wind that follows in her wake. It's also doesn't help that's she's quite the observant type, always watching and liking from afar - analyzing and gathering information about others and deciding what to do with it. She's also rather scarily good at mind games, able to instill fear in others with a simple sentence - even if it's said in the sweetest of voices. While she can be quite calm at times, she does have anger - it just takes a lot to get her truly made. While she can become annoyed and frustrated, it's nothing compared to her anger. When she's angry, it's something one can feel more that they can see - it's the overwhelming and suffocating presence that she'll exhibit that'll make the wise shrink away for fear of facing her fury. One can say she has the presence and brains to call the shots, and she she prefers to be in some role of leadership - rather than being told what to. And surprisingly, she's rather dependable - she runs a tight ship, most would say that it runs on genuine respect and possibly a mix of a bit of fear. It will also be noted that she's quite effective in getting things done. She's not one to tolerate insults towards her, friends, or her family - and if you just happen to be being mean to a mild-mannered person that she cares for : don't be surprised if she rips you a new one. While most may be all bark and no bark, this girl is both bite and bark. She just knows how to rip one to shreds, both verbally and physically.

Now, when it comes to matters of love -it's quite interesting. While she may deny that she's a romantic, she's actually quite a romantic. When she's in a relationship - she expecting to be her mates everything, and she won't play second fiddle or be anyone's side piece. She will be treated and loved like the gem she is and if he can't offer that to her then he can go. And if he decides to play with her heart? Then she'll play with and break his a thousand times worse - no one that plays her will end up without a few wounds. She's cautious and skeptical when it comes to love, yet when she does fall in love? She falls hard, and it's true to say that her lover is one to see a more softer and gentler side to her. Though she definitely wouldn't admit it, it's quite true. Now when it comes to children, she'd be quite a mother - having a more tough love approach, she'd be a bit harsh with them and possibly overbearing. But she'll soon get over that phase and be make careful, however that doesn't mean she won't stop helping them dream and achieve big things. Like her mother expected grand and big things for her - so will she for her children, even if it can be in an unconventional way.
