Dragons. Creatures those in the small city of Yreka know little about. The creatures are elusive, and hardly make an appearance, though when they do, it's enough to send people scrambling. Yreka is known to have the highest concentration of dragons in the country and is considered the homeland of dragons. Nestled in the mountains the city offers a variety of habitats for these magnificent creatures, even if they are hardly ever seen. Recently there has been a new creature, an ancient medieval being that has made its way into the city, starting to threaten those inside of it.

The Ichneumon are coming.

A creature known to be the only animal capable of killing the beasts we know as dragons, and they are making a return. Only this time they threaten humans as well. Random attacks on the city have already occurred, and no one knows when they will strike next.

No one in history has been capable of taming a dragon, let alone forming a bond and riding one, but something has changed. 14 teens are pulled by an unexplainable force to enter deep into the mountains and into the heartland of the dragons. The feeling is unexplainable, yet they follow it anyways. This feeling, this sense, is not just an accident. Dragons are drawing them in. Those that have been selected for this journey will be among the first dragon riders ever heard of. Upon reaching their destination they will be selected by a dragon to form an elite pairing. It will be based on teamwork and trust. Only becoming possible because the dragons are also seeking help.

With both humans and Dragons threatened by these Ichneumom, the only way to stop them is to unite into a single force to protect their home. The fate of the city is in their hands.

Will the riders be able to prepare in time to stop this threat? Or watch as their beloved city crumbles beneath them?

Plot breakdown:

In short, new riders will be drawn to the dragon's home in the mountains, a sacred valley blocked off by the natural features surrounding it. Somehow the pull of the rider's bond has brought them safely here, some riders may know each other, and some may be strangers. On arrival, they will bond with their dragon and then become established in the valley. They must learn how to properly work as a team not only 1x1 with their dragon, but with all the other bonded pairs.

Then and only then will they be able to devise and carry out a plan to stop the Ichneumon. As of now, the Ichneumon are unable to access the valley, but in time they will figure out a way in. Time is of the essence.

City information

Yreka, a Shasta Indian word meaning “white mountain”

The time period is more so Medieval, swords are common weapons still. Though there may be some more modern aspects mixed in.

Land: Yreka is in the mountains, with a dense forest surrounding them. A river runs through the middle of the city. There is a small and slightly worn path in the direction of the valley in which the dragons live, but only those who will be bonding with dragons will be able to find and access it.

The Valley the dragons live in has a small lake inside of it, there are many caves along the inside of the mountain walls that face in on the valley. In addition to the caves, there are some rivers running up and down the mountainsides. There is a more marsh-like area furthest away from the human entrance to the valley, which is up against a dense section of woods. When you enter the valley, there is a small clearing on the edge of the lake.

Bonding:

A difficult task for Humans and Dragons. A Dragon may feel a bond with multiple riders, in this case, up to three. The pull of the bond will be stronger with 1-2 in particular, however, only one of the bonds is real. Whether the decoy is picked or not, a temporary bond will be initiated. When the bonding process begins a temporary telepathic link will be formed between rider and dragon. Then the pair must complete a race to the top of the tallest mountain in the region, Mt. Bona.

Now, if the dragon chose the incorrect rider, somewhere along the way they will fall off, and the race won't be completed, as soon as the decoy rider falls off the bond is broken. Even if you fall off that doesn't mean you won't get to bond with a dragon, another may be waiting for you. Once a successful race is completed and the peak of the mountain is reached then your bond will have solidified completely.

A solid bond allows a telepathic connection with the rider, as well as a verbal one. When initially meeting a dragon there will be no communication between the two until a temporary bond is made. After bonding with a dragon you will be able to verbally communicate with other dragons besides the one you have bonded with.

The Race:

The bonding race has no specific winner, really, everyone who has a successful bond has won once they reach the top. During the race, dragons may try and test their riders, dipping them under water or riding through trees, sudden stops, or deep dives through the sky. Whatever path is necessary in order to reach the top of the mountain.

Dragons that are unable to fly may swim up rivers to reach the top, burrow under the ground or find some other way to get there.

Dragon Classes

When making your dragon the temperaments listed below are more of a guideline, you can expand and add to your character as long as you incorporate a few of the items listed!

Helvede Class, Rare [ 1/1 ]
Danish, Translates directly to Hell.
Ability: Fire
This Dragon class is ancient, one of the first 4 core classes, and therefore the most powerful. The Dragon controls fire with the mind. Allowing fire the appear with the blink of an eye in any amount they choose. The flame color gives off a bluish-violet hue. They can withstand the hottest hot temperatures made by mankind, they cannot be killed with fire. Excellent flyers.
Stats: 17-22 feet at the shoulder
Color Variations: Red, orange, black, & purple(more uncommon)
Temperament: Territorial, aggressive, stubborn, trustworthy, dominant, & disdainful at times
Weakness: The most susceptible to the cold. The use of their ability saps their energy depending on the extent used. The longer and more fierce the fire the more energy used. If used long enough they can die.

Lysende Class, Rare [ 1/1 ]
Danish, Translates to Luminous.
Ability: Light and Illusion
This Dragon is one of the first core 4 and therefore the most powerful. This dragon has the ability to create small flashes of light, this is meant as a distraction from their real power. Commonly confused with Himmelsk or Lyn class due to the flash they create, their true power is illusions, the more experienced, the more real an illusion becomes. They also have fire breath though it is weak and gives off a whitish, or light blue hue. They are great flyers.
Stats: 17-21 ft at the shoulder
Color variations: Opalescent looking, whites, creams & other similar colors. Some may have gold markings.
Temperament: Patient, wise, regal, cautious, calm, peaceful & has an independent side
Weakness: Heat weakens them severely. Creating illusions for a prolonged time will weaken them, if not stopped their power will flicker, shortly after the dragon will collapse in a weakened state and temporarily lose its illusion abilities. This is where fire breath is handy.

Verden Class Uncommon [ 0/1 ]
Danish, Translates to World.
Ability: Camouflage
This dragon class belongs to the core four, therefore it is one of the most powerful, it is considered uncommon due to the increase in population. This dragon has the ability to shift the color of its body to different colors, allowing it to blend seamlessly into whatever background it pleases. They are able to climb and burrow.
Stats: 12-15 ft at the shoulder
Color variations: Browns, tans, greens, and other forest-like colors when the ability is not in use. May have small bronze flecks/markings.
Temperament: Thoughtful, social, curious, creative, protective, & easy-going
Weakness: No true flight is achieved, these dragons have wings, though are only able to glide. These creatures are also sensitive to light, exposing their eyes too much can lead to blindness.

Plaske Class Uncommon [ 0/1 ]
Danish, Translates to Splash.
Ability: Water
This dragon class belongs to the core four, therefore it is one of the most powerful, it is considered uncommon due to the increase in population. Instead of breathing fire, Plaske class breathes a version of boiling water, they can also create a fog or mist. They are excellent swimmers, though they can only glide, not fly. The oldest and most experienced can start to make a form of ice.
Stats: 17-22 ft at the shoulder
Color variations: Any shade of blue, purple, and some have silver and small tints of green
Temperament: Extremely territorial, wise, humorous, sometimes grumpy, & occasionally aggressive.
Weakness: Overusing abilities causes dehydration, and their skin is very susceptible to heat. They need water in order to immediately recharge their abilities, so they must live near a source. They cannot have true flight, though they can glide.

Lyn Class Uncommon [ 2/2 ]
Only one may be able to produce a “Charge” and the other can have cloud concentration
Danish, Translates to Lightning.
Ability: Electricity
This dragon is a descendant of the core four, more specifically Plaske class, they are not as powerful as their parents though still hold immense value. Lyn class can control small amounts of water like Plaske class and has a weakened version of their fire breath. Mainly they are able to conduct lightning through their bodies and are most powerful during thunderstorms. Some can produce their own lightning in the form of a “charge” but most need a storm to due so. Older and more experienced Lyn class can begin to control cloud concentration, bringing rain a bit sooner, this is also very rare.
Stats: 20-25 ft at the shoulder
Color variations: Grey's, blues, blacks, yellows, & whites. Sometimes purple.
Temperament: Protective, light-hearted, some have a playful side, an eye for shiny things, curious & easily content
Weakness: Creating charges is the fastest way to lose energy. Dragons are awkward on the ground, they are built for more time in the air. Heat will weaken them and must be well fed to use powers to the full extent. Can dehydrate easily.

Toksin Class Common [ 0/2 ]
Only one will have the stinger
Danish, Translates to Toxin.
Ability: Posin
This dragon is a descendant of the core four, more specifically Verden class, they are not as powerful as their parents though still hold immense value. The Toksin dragon emits two types of gases, one will stun, and one will kill, slowly, allowing them the advantage in battle. Some have a stinger on the end of their tail, it will release poison onto their opponent when they stab them: decent climbers and flyers.
Stats: 9-14 ft at the shoulder
Color variations: Bright colors, including red, orange, and green. It May be black or iridescent
Temperament: Dominant, stoic, possessive, can be arrogant, disdainful at times & impulsive
Weakness: They lack brute force, loud sounds stun them, as do bright lights. They weaken in the cold and dehydrate when using their ability excessively. They can hide decently, though not as well as Mørk class. Lack of speed when flying.

Mørk Class Common [ 0/2 ]
Only one can control shadows
Danish, Translates to Dark.
Ability: Smog
This dragon is a descendant of the core four, more specifically Helvede class, they are not as powerful as their parents though still hold immense value. Mørk class admits a black smog, similar to the smell of smoke, yet much thicker and darker. It’s a non-toxic fog. Excellent at flying and staying hidden. Some more experienced Mørk class can begin to control small shadows.
Stats: 15-19 ft at the shoulder
Color variations: Mostly Black, they may have other colors as long as they are kept dark. Purple is also a common color.
Temperament: Apathetic, dominant, reclusive, territorial, aggressive & hardworking when it comes down to it
Weakness: These dragons are unable to climb, and they are extremely sensitive to bright lights. Mørk class also is sensitive to extreme heat and extreme cold due to their skin being a bit delicate.

Himmelsk Class Common [ 0/2 ]
Danish, Translates to Celestial.
Ability: Light
This dragon is a descendant of the core four, more specifically Lysende class, they are not as powerful as their parents though still hold immense value. Himmelsk class are able to create light, it is produced after charging when they open their mouth. It can become blindingly bright. They also breathe fire, the color can be white or a light yellow, and the strength is a medium.
Stats: 9-14 ft at the shoulder
Color variations: Whites, creams, faint golds, and pastel colors
Temperament: Dedicated, wise, protective, resourceful, calm & social
Weakness: Stronger Mørk class dragons that control shadows can banish light created by them. Flying at a higher altitude weakens them more than others, they fly better lower to the ground. Can exhaust themselves by overusing their ability, some may feel uneasy in the dark.

Kuling Class Common [ 1/2 ]
Danish, Translates to Gale.
Ability: Wind
This dragon is a descendant of the next generation, more specifically Lyn class, they are not as powerful as their parents though still hold value. Kuling class finds it easier to breathe at high altitudes and are the best flyers out of the dragons due to greater endurance and speed. Their wings can send gusts powerful enough to break a tree, and instead of blowing fire breath, they release high-speed winds from their mouth.
Stats: 17- 20 ft at the shoulder
Color variations: Whites, greys, blues, silver, and light purples
Temperament: Trustworthy, social, can be energetic, passionate & a little air-headed at times.
Weakness: The most uncoordinated dragon on the ground, however, they are the best flyers. Using their wind breath will tire them out if used for too long. Easily startled when on the ground.

Arabic origins, meaning beautiful, bright, brilliant

Class: Lysende
Appearance:

This dragon is a young, yet dangerous creature. Her height is roughly 20 ft at the shoulder, not nearly at full height like others of her class, but don’t let this deceive you. Zehra has a semi-muscular build, strong legs, and powerful wings allowing her flight. Her weight, however, is not on the larger end, but rather in the middle. For such a “powerful” dragoness how will she be able to deal with the threat of larger dragons? This lies in her power, Zehra is a creature who can create illusions, a distraction before making her move. When she strikes she strikes hard and fast. She is agile and quick compared to those larger than her. While her height doesn’t take on the impressive, or fear-inspiring look, the rest of her appearance makes up for it. Her head is adorned with six ivory horns, this strong material is a faint blue, nearly white appearance. Her first two horns top her head and curve up and back slightly, with two slightly smaller horns doing the same in between them. Her last two horns curve around to the front of her face, guarding it against attacks coming from the side, they line up with her jaw(similar to Brontes). Her facial features are rather sharp, her snout having a slight downward hook to it. Similar to that of a bird of prey, though not as long and unnatural looking. Zehra’s fangs are occasionally visible along the edge of her mouth. Zehra’s actual face shape is more slender, with smaller thick scales interlocking in a uniform pattern covering her face, her natural amour. The color of her face, overall, is a simple white.

Now this creature's eyes are rather stunning: a piercing blue, nearly white color is what they appear to be at a first glance, with small black vertical slits for pupils. Enlarging in the dark to allow her better vision during the hours when there is little light. Upon closer inspection, you can see light blue and gray flecks surrounding her pupil and an out iced color ring surrounding her outer Iris. This dragon also has two eyelids, one is a translucent light blue color, hardly visible to the eye unless you look close to notice a slight foggy appearance to her iris. This eyelid she typically uses to block smaller debris from entering her eye, such as dust, while still being able to see. It can also help block brighter lights, almost like a pair of natural sunglasses. The second is her normal eyelid, completely visible when closed.

A special feature Zehra possesses is her wings. A pair that is out of the ordinary. Typically when you think of a dragon you visualize one with a single set of wings. Well, Zehra has two sets of wings. She tends to hide one, keeping it pressed almost seamlessly against her body. But during flight, she uses both, it helps strengthen her flying when she enters the void during her teleportation. A dragon with a single set of wings would not have the same flying capabilities to make it through, instead, they would become stuck in the void. Now her first set of wings are normally sized, while her second set is just slightly smaller, the difference is visible if you take the time to notice this about her. The shape of them is rather batlike, with a stronger membrane connecting the frame holding them together, at the tip of each bone in her wing, is a small spike. The color underneath her wings is a clean white. While a top them is a spirling opalescent pattern, white is the natural color that acts as her "base coat". Zehra earned this striking pattern during the time in which she reached maturity and began to receive her abilities. Now, this pattern is along her entire neck, back, and top of her tail, while her entire underbelly, chest, legs, and below her tail are more of a soft white. Zehra has a small spiral marking on her forehead. She has no other markings besides this on her body. The scales across her chest and underbelly are larger plates, while the rest of her is made up of smaller scales.

Kind of what I was going for with the opalescent swirls, only much neater. The image below (c) me.

The last few features you may recognize on this female include the set of spikes she has along her spine. This row leads into the end of her tail and starts at the top of her head near her horns. They are colored a bright white and are not as flimsy as one might think, but rather a similar strength to her horns. When coming across this dragon you can notice a few other things such as her walk, rather quick and slightly hoppy on the ground. Zehra prefers flying, and the action looks almost effortless when she performs it. Though she will keep her head held high even as she may trip as she walks, if slight embarrassment comes from it she will continue to keep it high. Zehra is also one for facial expressions, often using her eyes and mouth to communicate. Her scent is never consistent, traveling through the void changes it depending on where she passes during her time there, though is often a soft scent of flowers and fresh air with which she surrounds herself with.

Zehra is a social being, she likes to surround herself with those she likes and trusts and does enjoy good conversation. However, she does struggle to register emotions others portray. That is why she can be expressive at times herself, trying to make sure others know what she is getting at. A few emotions she may easily confuse are anger with disgust or fear with surprise. She also has a harder time understanding sarcasm, but Zehra is able to understand jokes for the most part. She does like laughing. Misinterpreting emotions can cause a level of confusion before she finally registers what is going on. Usually, the situation will help her decipher, but if she has to react quickly her actions may be slowed. Besides this, she is a generally confident being, she is well-aware of her surroundings, actions, and the situation she is in, which allows her the ability to overcome some of the confusion she may have with emotions. This dragoness will also come across as a bit tense, she tends to be on edge and is not very fond of being surprised. The current situation has heightened her senses and awareness, she won't hesitate to lash out at the unknown. She is not the dragon to throw a surprise party for.

Fearless. What she strives to be and often what she comes across as. Zehra is a brave dragon, risking life and limb to assist others in their quest to defeat the Ichneumon. Her selflessness is a rather large part of her personality, she tries her best to be helpful and put on a brave face for those around her, even if her fears are eating away at her on the inside. She is rather stoic in this way. She hates to complain about personal issues when she knows everyone is fighting their own battles. While she appears brave there will be moments when she is caught off guard, sudden darkness, the sight of death, or being left alone will make her feel vulnerable. It is then that you can see her shield crack and her emotions come loose. This occurrence is rather rare unless she is facing her worst fears. She hates to talk about herself, though only her close companions may be trusted with this information, this is so that when she does let down her guard they can be there to help. Besides those few occasions, Zehra is rather level-headed. She does not have much of a temper, but like some, if you purposefully push her buttons she will lash out at you. Zehra is not afraid to tell you off when it comes down to it. The same goes for those arrogant enough to not get the gravity of the situation through their thick skulls. She hates to repeat herself.

Zehra is the type to mirror how others treat her, she will be a bitch to those who treat her like one, or she will be caring towards those who care for her. She won't go out of her way to make a friend or to keep a friendship for that matter, if the other is not willing to put in the work, or begins to avoid her. Now, this dragon is rather intelligent. She is careful with her words and with what she chooses to reveal about herself, particularly to those she deems suspicious. Zehra is also quite strategic, planning out her next moves, and calculating the best route to take to get there. She also is good with communication, she can express her opinions in a clear and concise manner, and is generally open-minded when it comes to what others have to say. Unless, of course, the dragon is not credible or has worms for a brain. Another skill of hers is how observant this female can be, she likes to watch others, not in a creepy way such as stalking or staring, but she likes to see reactions. Zehra wants to understand how others think and feel to help her learn to do the same.

With topics, she finds interesting Zehra can become quite passionate. If she really gets into something she may begin to talk fast and grow excited. Some of her favorite topics include tricks with her abilities, flying, and shiny objects. While this dragon is not a collector, she does like to admire various objects she finds or is shown. She particularly likes shiny objects that resemble her markings, with opalescent colors and pretty patterns. She is rather curious when it comes to new findings, and likes to keep an eye out for new things as she travels. While this dragon has a bit of an adventurous side, such as exploring new lands or flying to places she has never been. This adventure is different, running for her life has been both thrilling and terrifying rolled into one. A part of her enjoys the freedom she now possesses, while the other half of her wishes that she could go back to her life before. Despite this feeling she would never return to the Elder Council and the other clans, it is too late to apologize for their actions and she will never feel safe with them again. She is normally not one to hold grudges, but in this case, she will.

This female also has a bit of a maternal side, she does take a liking to the little hatchlings and finds them rather fascinating. If Zehra should ever become a mother she would definitely be a protective creature, keeping a sharp eye on them. If she becomes a mother it would not be during her time in the clans. She wouldn't wish to have her hatchlings chosen as a sacrifice. She has refused to have any during her time there. Once she fleed from the clan with the other survivors, the idea definitely piqued her interest once more.

Abilities: This Dragon is one of the first core 4 and therefore the most powerful. This dragon has the ability to create small flashes of light, this is meant as a distraction from their real power. Commonly confused with Himmelsk or Lyn class due to the flash they create, their true power is illusions, the more experienced, the more real an illusion becomes. They also have fire breath though it is weak and gives off a whitish, or light blue hue. They are great flyers.

Strengths:

☽ Breathing, Zehra has the ability to breathe easier at higher altitudes, it is an acquired skill from years of high flying. She's used to it now.

☽ Medium-sized, she has strength, agility, and speed. Though her strength outweighs the other two, speed is followed closely behind.

☽ Wings, this dragon is blessed with two pairs of wings. This allows her to become a strong, efficient flyer, and make it through the void in one piece.

☽ Intelligence, Zehra is a quick thinker and quite resourceful

Weaknesses:

☽ Nyctophobia, Zehra is rather frightened of the dark and prefers to keep herself aglow until she falls asleep. She can't stand not knowing what's hidden behind the dark curtain before her.

☽ Thanatophobia, the fear of death. A small voice in the back of her mind is constantly nagging her with, "they're catching up" or "we're moving too slow". She does fear the hunters will catch and kill them.

☽ Autophobia, the fear of being alone. Zehra is a social creature, and fears ending up on her own

☽ Energy, using her illusion ability excessively will drain her quickly and leave her in a vulnerable state. Her power will completely shut down and will be useless for a short period of time, unless she has access to food and water to bring her energy levels back up quicker.

Likes:

☽ Flying, she especially likes testing how high she can go before suddenly diving, she craves the adrenaline. She also enjoys nighttime flights.

☽ Water, particularly cool streams, and light rain. She likes to roll around and cool off in the water.

☽ Fish, Yum. Obviously.

☽ Naps, if she can, she prefers to get a lot of her sleep during the day, mostly due to her fear of the dark at night, she won't sleep as much in the dark.

☽ Cool-weather, her fog breath tends to work better during this time, and she finds it more comfortable. Though she dislikes freezing temperatures

☽ Shiny, Fascinated by shiny objects, she particularly likes those that look like her

☽ Being alone, she prefers to surround herself with other dragons, it makes her feel safe

☽ Insufferable dragons, she finds it hard to surround herself with others who continue to show arrogance. With the situation they are in, she doesn't have time for those who want to play idiots.

☽ The dark, Zehra has a large fear of the dark, one of her siblings was taken as a sacrifice for the Elder Council while they were playing in the dark. The situation happened quickly and scared the living daylights out of the young hatchling. She has fear that creatures will come for her in the dark since then.

Appearance:

This male's hair is a feature he takes pride in. His hair is a thick head of curls, though they appear to be rather loose compared to tight spiral curls. While Kris does have a lot of hair, its length only reaches the back of his neck, ending right above his eyebrows in front of his face. It also covers the tops of his ears. The top is slightly longer than the bottom, allowing him to pull the tops of his hair into a small, spikey, ponytail, it is too short for much else. You would need good lighting to discover his hair is not black, instead, it is a very dark brown. An attractive feature of this young man. His hairline is not visible unless pulled back, and then you can see he has a slight widow's peak.

Kris stands at the taller height of 6"4'. Exactly one inch above his older brother. His shoulders are broad and his build is leaner. Part of his life growing up consisted of swordsmanship training, and other athletic activities, so this rider is left with a lithe figure. He is agile and graceful. Deadly and poised. He has worked for years to achieve this. His skin tone can be referred to as "sand", and has warmer undertones. Kris tans rather nicely and as a result his skin darkens the more he is exposed to the sun, ending in a dark tan by the end of summer.

This male doesn't have many noticeable birthmarks besides one rather large one he keeps hidden. It's not as noticeable as most, but it is as large as his hand and is right over his ribs, on the right side of his body. It is a lighter coloration of skin compared to the rest of him, that does not really tan, it stays more of a lighter white color though it is flat. If you were blindfolded and ran a hand over it you would be unable to detect it. It is less noticeable due to its coloration being neutral and similar to his skin, but he is rather self-conscious about it. Other marks he has included a few tiny moles scattered across his arms and face. A feature most only notices when close up with this prince, is his hazel eyes. The iris surrounding his pupil is an amber-like brown, a rather light color with small golden flecks dotting the area. The remaining half of his eye, is a paler green, growing darker as it reaches the end of his iris, which has a dark ring surrounding its outer edge. His orbs are framed by long, dark lashes.

Kristopher's facial features appear more feminine, with soft slightly angled brows sitting above his orbital rim, more comparable to that of women, without being completely feminine. His noes is narrow and shorter than that of your average man, though it is rather straight looking. Now his cheekbones are also more prominent, though not in a way that gives his face a tight look, or one that makes him seem as if the sides of his face are "dented". This male's jawline is defined, but not completely sharp, while his lips are full with a soft cupid's bow.

This male's scent can vary depending on the occasion, he can sometimes take on a more salty, fresh scent after a swim in the ocean. His home is on the coast so this is a more familiar and regular scent. Swimming was something he particularly enjoys and likes to spend time doing. Or he can have more if an earthy scent such as a less pungent variation of sage, commonly found in prairies. He does not have a distinctive scent. Even if you cannot recognize his smell, you will be able to recognize his voice. Kris's voice is rather smooth and deep sounding. At a glance, his walk is also rather smooth. He moves at a faster pace while his head is held high.

Personality:

Kristopher is a social being, enjoying the company of friends and acquaintances, though can be more reserved towards new faces. With convincing, a new person may be able to open him up more, but not enough to make him delusional or leave secrets unguarded. He tries to keep his private life, and his family guarded, he doesn't like to talk much about it. Kris often finds himself having suspicions about new faces, he has been used before, so he won't be quick to completely open up to someone until he is confident he can trust them. His personality tends to attract all types of people, he is naturally a more flirty person, he is somewhat aware of it and will occasionally put it to his advantage. Subtle comments or expressions, body position, and change in focus all contribute to this. He keeps his “friends close, and his enemies closer”. In any event, those he doesn't particularly like, but needs to get along with, he can whip out his charm, making him seem as if he is totally and completely interested in them. Though this can quickly turn if he starts to get annoyed, which will clearly be seen in his expression or tone of voice. He won't get physical over a disagreement.

This male is an observant creature, picking up on verbal cues such as a change in voice, or physical cues such as a shift in stance or motion of the hand. He tries to be careful about the situations he puts himself in, however, his confidence may blindside him at times. Make a bet? If Kris is confident he will double the stakes. Offer a duel? Let him grab his sword and he'll be there. Besides this, Kristopher is rather intelligent, he enjoys studying dragons and strategizing, particularly for defensive, and offensive purposes. Battles and their endless possibilities of them fascinate him. He is quick to learn, tending to pick up on new techniques or skills particularly well. He becomes quite excited, taking rather faster and his deep voice becoming a pitch higher if he is extremely passionate about a subject. Kristopher often uses his hands to talk as well, it helps him express how he is thinking.

This rider gives off a confident air, though not in a way that suggests he is cocky. His posture is rather good, holding himself high and up to his full height, his actions swift and sure. He tends to be bolder when masked, making moves he normally wouldn't if others knew who he was, such as more risky moves during battle or training. This also boosts his bravery, allowing him to loosen up and make his motions more fluid, allowing him a more accurate strike at his target. If not out at a gathering or with friends you can find Kristopher in one of two places. The first is in some sort of training grounds, he is always looking to make himself better and increase his skills. The second is with his horse, whether he is riding alone or with his friends, a quick ride allows him to clear his mind and re-focus. Though due to him being separated from his good friend, he will be found with his friends. The third is off studying somewhere, “sharpening his mind”, dragons fascinate him, and they are his favorite subject to learn about.

With friends, you can find Kris to be a rather outgoing person. He also tends to have more of a sarcastic side and does like a good joke. Roughhousing is a fun pastime of his, which includes putting his friends in friendly headlocks. His laugh is more high-pitched and just funny to hear. This rider is a trustworthy character, he is not one for gossip and will have your back if you have his. He can be stubborn at times, if he is passionate about a subject or convinced he is right there is hardly a soul that could sway him. Kristopher is also quite protective of those he cares about, including family and friends. He will do all he can to protect them.

Strengths & Weaknesses:

Kristopher has great swordsmanship, you could say he was "born with a sword in his hands", the motions come fluid and natural, and he has been practicing all his life. This is partially for defending himself and partially because his father grew up teaching him the art. He does enjoy horseback riding and is rather skilled at it, Kris doesn’t know if any of this would translate into dragon-riding. Kris is also quite strong, relying on brute strength to get through some of the daily activities he enjoys.

Kris is a confident man, which may lead to his downfall in the end. He may take on challenges too large for him to face, putting him in dangerous situations. While he is good with a sword, he tends to struggle more with any hand-to-hand combat, he can hold his own, but not very well.

Likes & Dislikes:

Good craftsmanship - He particularly likes working with wood, carving handles for daggers, and such. Though he prefers metals and stronger materials for swords that he would use in combat. He wants a job done right, and hates to see a job rushed.

Horses - Particularly horseback riding, a skill he is working to perfect. Hunting expeditions and free-riding would be done on his horse. A stallion he named Altivo, though the horse is not in Yreka, it is back home.

Dragons - This one is more obvious, he has been fascinated with them since he was little.

Rude behavior - He will not tolerate any towards himself or his friends. He finds it rather annoying.

Pointless conversation - If you are going to take up his precious time talking about the pattern of the clouds or how you just noticed that the woodchips surrounding the plants are a shade off their normal color, or some bullshit, he doesn't want to hear it.

Tight spaces - The man likes his room.

Appearance -
Theo is a rather short male only reaching the height of a female his age which is around 5'4 - 5'5. Though he has slightly more muscle around his arms and legs though they can hardly be seen, a faint outline of a six-pack can be picked up if you look hard enough. A beautiful dirty blond (light fawn) rests upon his head a couple of braids spread around. His eyes are something from a fairy tale a beautiful light green with hints of blue swimming around shining in the moonlight.

For clothes, he normally wears a tight pure white shirt that reaches his thighs though most of the time it is tucked into a pair of skinny black jeans that hug his legs perfectly. Wrapped around his waist is a large dark purple coat, that can easily hide his body. Hanging around his neck is a beautiful necklace made out of a single totem of a dragon's head made out of sliver. A small dagger is placed on his right leg and a large one is settled on his back with a black and purple handle.

On special occasions, he will wear more formal gear a pure black button-up dress shirt with dark blue and white jeans giving him the royal look. Attached to his shoulders will be a large fluffy black cape, used as a clock or a jumper for when he wants to hide or keep warm. Around his right arm, he wraps a large piece of purple thread so he always has something he can use as a weapon.

Like every great dragon rider, Theo also has a story to tell and the scars to prove it though knowing the story is something only the closest people to him know. Claiming his top right collar bone running down to his bottom left v-line is a large scar. The story may be even worse than the scar itself.

Personality -
To outsiders and newcomers, his personality can be very different some describe it as two-faced and mysterious. The male always keeps to himself and observes others before he approaches or even talks to them. Normally forced to talk to them by a higher up or when the situation calls for him too, talking isn't his strong suit. He may show his cold side to them but he will always make sure they do their best and are pushed sot hey can achieve what they want. Though he acts like that it does not mean that he trusts you he only respects you. to gain respect you need to show it.

To close friends and family his personality completely changes to a kind, cuddly, and protective stage making sure those who do manage to get close to him are healthy and happy. Not having many friends he tends to be a bit overprotective though he won't let that show as they do need their own space. Sacrificing himself to save them will always be something he will do no questions asked. Though he does tend to go off without telling them as trust issues prevent him from fulling trusting anyone. He is not afraid to die.

To his dragon, he says that he will make sure it is fed, water, and healthy making sure all its needs are up to date. Being serious around the creature when around others though as soon as the crowds die down his true personality will show to the east kind, caring, protective, and serious giving the creature space and trust be hopes he can get that back. Sitting on the top of a cliff that almost touches the sky just being in the presents of the beast will be something he loves.

All these different personalities hide in the one male some may be similar to ones he trusts and different from those he doesn't. Trusting the male or even giving him respect back will definitely make a difference in how the male sees you.

Appearance: Kereska is fairly medium-sized for her type, standing at 22 feet at the shoulder. Her build is lithe and leanly muscled, built for speed rather than strength. Kereska has a very aerodynamic and serpentine form, with her length being about 45% tail and 30% neck. Her tail narrows to a point at the end, and can be used rather like a whip to draw blood or snatch things out of the air. A short, dull black fin regularly interspersed with electric yellow spines for support runs from the crown of her head to the tip of her tail, and can be flattened at will or as a signal for her mood. The crest is tallest at her head and shoulders, and shortest at the end of her tail. Kereska has fairly short legs and stands rather low to the ground, with each of her feet ending in four forward-facing claws and one sideways-facing claw curved like scimitars. Her scales range from a glossy ebony to blinding ivory, and are arranged in a gradient that is darkest at her spine and head and lightest at her belly. The scales themselves are in the shape of a rounded triangle, and interlock with little overlap in order to give the appearance and flexibility of snakeskin. Most are unmarred, but there are a few scars on her belly and legs leftover from fights. She also has a prominent white scar on the right side of her snout behind her nostrils.

Like the rest of her, Kereska’s head is sleek and snakelike, perfect for flying into the wind with little resistance. She has a pair of thin nostril slits on the end of her snout, but primarily smells by flicking her forked tongue out to collect scents and bringing them back in to a sensory organ. The tongue is a dull black, and is surrounded by serrated white teeth on both the upper and lower jaws except for a gap at the front of the mouth, which is flanked by two great fangs on the roof of her mouth. None of her teeth protrude when her mouth is closed. Kereska’s eyes are on the sides of her head, giving her nearly 360 degree vision, and are slightly forward and below the start of her spinal crest. The irises are electric yellow, and surround black slitted pupils. The eyes themselves are oval-shaped. A bit behind her eyes are her ears, which are simple holes with a membranous frill resting over them reminiscent of her dorsal fin. She can control the frills so that they spread to the sides of her head to make her appear bigger. Finally, on either side of the spinal frill are two long, gently curving horns. The horns mirror the curve of her neck, and taper to sharp black points. The rest of the horns are the same color as her claws, the yellow-white of old bones. Last but not least is Kereska’s most eye-catching feature, her wings. Around 150 feet when fully spread, the wings are a soft gray color on the membranes and an almost-black indigo blue on the bony framework. The elbow joints of the wings are each topped with a small hornlike protrusion the same electric yellow as her eyes. No matter where she is, Kereska always smells faintly of rain and ozone.

Personality: Kereska is a fairly adventurous dragon, and most of her time is spent exploring new places and meeting new dragons. She is exceptionally curious, and frequently gets into scrapes by forgetting to look before she leaps. Her biggest interests are dragon history and culture, and she is always on the lookout for new scraps of information or artifacts from the past. She is friendly and approachable, but only maintains a few true friends. She is an excellent listener and has a gift for making others feel heard and valued. To those she cares about, Kereska is dependable and loyal. She’ll keep your secrets to the grave and fight to the death to defend you. However, to those who get on her bad side, she can harbor grudges for decades. She normally isn’t aggressive, and instead will show her displeasure through malicious pranks such as giving the one who annoyed her a vicious shock. The best way to get on her good side is to bring her a gift, particularly one that pertains to her interest in history. However Kereska also has a soft spot for art, specifically of the carving and sculpting variety. A handmade gift will do more to endear you to her than pretty words ever will.

On the other hand, Kereska hates liars and those who don’t follow through on their promises. While she usually doesn’t display her disapproval openly, if pushed far enough she will voice her true feelings, usually loudly and angrily. Kereska would only resort to pre-emptive violence if she felt that someone she cared about was threatened, and otherwise would never start a physical fight. For the most part Kereska is confident and capable, though she is not a natural leader and adapts poorly to being placed in charge of others. She works well as a member of a team, and will even follow orders blindly if they come from someone she trusts. Essentially, Kereska is known for her loyalty, curiosity, and friendliness.

Claustrophobia. Kereska is a big girl made for the open sky, thus she doesn’t do well in dense forests and cramped caves

Fighting. Her scales are made for flexibility rather than hardness, and though her claws and teeth are sharp she doesn’t have the strength to get through most dragon hides

Endurance. Her speed comes in short bursts, and she can’t handle long flights at slower paces

Heat. She dehydrates fast and prefers rainy climates

Likes:

Her favorite food is fish, particularly catfish varieties

She loves thunderstorms and the smell of rain

Shiny things, but specifically metals that she can play with by charging them with electricity

Swimming, even though she isn’t particularly good at it

Hot or arid weather

Birds, the feathers get stuck in her teeth

People who lie to her or hurt those close to her

Backstory: Kereska lives with the same flock she was born in. Because the females of the flock rear their young communally, Kereska was encouraged to think of every female besides her mother as an aunt and every adult male as an uncle. Aside from her direct siblings, the other dragons her age were considered her cousins. She has two brothers, both of which left the flock upon maturity as was customary. During that time new males have joined the flock, but none of them have caught Kereska’s eye so far. Both males and females of the flock take part in hunting and bringing back prey, and the oldest and youngest members get first crack at every kill. The flock is migratory, and Kereska grew up not associating any one place as home, but rather the individuals she spent her time with as home.
