Plot:

The Zombie apocalypse has happened. But keep your boots on, y'all, because it's not what you think it is. These hive-mind like zombies are sentient and gain an amassing every single second. While animals are free to roam, humans are their target. Why? Eh, who knows.

Those who survive? Good luck.

Jackson Sharp

Age: 24

Gender: Male

-Appearance-
With a blond Californian beach-boy sort of look to him at the first glance, Jackson stands with broad shoulders and gentle fair skin that has been sun-tanned over years. His fair skin, though, is peppered with gentle freckles over his cheeks and his shoulders. Despite that, his eyes are a vibrant blue color and windows to the soul.

While his wardrobe has been limited to one outfit--because hello the world ending seems to have a hand in that. He wears a grey shirt, golden locket, pants that are ... well-worn and occasionally pulls around a brown leather jacket. His red all-stars are well worn as well but he refuses to even try and replace them.

-Personality-
If tired isn't the first vibe you get from Jackson then he's probably lying to you. This man is tired. He has survived this far because he has to, or so he tells himself. As far as he knows, he's one of the last ones alive and not infected. That's counting for something.

His initial fear kept him alive. Now he's just... subtly reckless with a lot of hope, luck and some thinking. A lot of thinking. Most people would probably gain a headache with the amount of thinking that Jackson does on a daily basis. He doesn't like to rest for long, because resting makes him vulnerable.

Usually if he does fall asleep or do something of the sort, he's strung a hammock across some ruined buildings. Locked himself in a room with a window access or something of the sort. Always thinking. Always moving.

If he should find a live human? Oh he's going to attach himself to them so quickly and do his best to keep them uninfected.

•Vanessa Everette•
Age: 22
Gender: Female
~Appearance~
With an innocent look about her, this little woman could easily be determined dead sooner than later. Her chocolatey brown hair reaches just past her shoulder in silky waves, complimenting her porcelain skin. She has a slim, athletic body littered in little scars from the sticky situations she's been in before. Her big, beautiful eyes are a delightful shade of amber, only adding to that innocent look.

With clothing being limited, Vanessa tends to adorn black leggings with loose fitting long sleeve shirts. As she seems to always be cold, she keeps a dark green flannel on hand at all times. Her feet have been graced with sturdy, yet worn combat boots that have served her well all throughout the apocalypse thus far.

~Personality~
Unlucky. Vanessa is likely the most lucky unlucky person you'll ever meet. The world has been determined to take her out since day one, but she's driven by way too much fear to give up now. She's too cautious of most people, scared that if she gets too close she might be used as an escape route.

However, she's gone so long without human contact now, who's to say she wouldn't cling to them like her life depended on it? She'd need someone with her energy, as she stays on the move, never stopping for long. She'd been chased by one too many hordes on the account of lagging around.

Despite always being on the go, Vanessa never seems to tire. A ball of nervous energy is what she is. When she does stop, it's like in a place much too cramped for anything else to fit in, and always well hidden. After all, no one wants to wake up to getting torn apart.

A bustling city with the lights that might have reached up to reflect the stars above was not exactly the first place that Jackson had expected to find himself. But, then again, there wasn't much that would surprise him anymore. He had been fairly surprised to get survive this long at least. So the remains of a bustling city with the shuffling, the faint hum of the hive-mind? Wasn't terribly concerning... but it was at the same time.

His hands had slid into denim pockets as he leaned against the top of one of the buildings, letting out a slow exhale. This was fine. It was fine. Theoretically.

Quillus watched, with blue red eyes, the crowd that slowly dispersed from place to place. They all either moved at the same time or in a rhythmic step. That... that was the cold and chilling part. Aimless for the most part until they found a trail or something of the sort then the frenzy started. Chaos... oh he couldn't imagine being one of those. Heaven forbid.

The rising sun, just barely reaching over the morning horizon, stretched out with an uncaring hand to throw its heat over the city.

One... two... three... run!
Vanessa's small form streaked across the street, avoiding the eyes of the undead. Despite the city being full of shuffling bodies, she somehow managed to remain undetected. So far, Vanessa's luck had been treating her well, aiding in her sneaky ways. If so much as one of the infected heard or saw her, she'd be in a world of trouble. Outrunning that collective mind was very, very hard.

Oh, and the stench. The smell of rancid, rotting flesh. It was absolutely putrid, only fueling her desire to get as far away as possible.

In a matter of seconds, her destination came to view. A grocery store. If she could get in and out without being caught, she'd be able to restock her supply. However, as she approached the ajar door, her worst fear was knocking on her door. That bone chilling shriek... In a panick, Vanessa looked around frantically for anywhere to go. Her best choice was a narrow alley way, which she scrambled towards faster than she'd ever moved.

Only, to her severe disappointment, it was a dead end. Taking a deep breath, the woman did the one choice she had left other than die, and that was to climb. The alley was narrow enough that she could chimney climb, so she boosted herself up, quickly pushing herself up towards the top of buildings. Her muscles were already tired, but she didn't stop until she was hanging onto the roof top of the lower building, leaving the sea of dead beneath her.

Jackson's deep eyes scanned along the roads, one arm on his knee while the other rested at his side. The undead rose a horrible stench that lessened in the chill of night, but once the sun rose? Oh, the smell just wafted and filtered everything. After a few years of it now, he was sure... he was more or less nose blind to it. Or it was something else, he wasn't exactly an expert.

A few minutes and some of them shuffled to the side, creating a ripple effect as every single one moved to the side too. It was strange for a moment or two and the man couldn't figure out where... it was going. Or where it started from either.

But that metallic screech from behind him got his attention almost immediately... as well as most of the hoard beneath him. The man turned on his heel, his heart hammering for a long moment as the loud shuffling began to tear through the roads and alleyways. Jackson stayed put until the fingers and hands reached up over the edge.

His eyes widened for a moment or two, slowly creeping forward toward the edge, and looked over. He probably stared for a good minute or so before reaching down to grab her arms, pulling the woman up and over the edge.

"You're alive?!" He finally exclaimed, his voice was hoarse and quiet, barely used.

Vanessa's golden gaze bore into the man in return, having nearly let go from being startled. The last thing she'd expected to see was the face of another living breathing human being. The sight of him made her anxious, but also excited that she'd have someone other than herself to speak to.

Vanessa squealed quietly, her voice struggling to exit her throat as he pulled her over the edge. Her limbs were quaking, pure adrenaline having been the only thing that kept the small woman from falling back down into the alley. Vanessa slowly rose to her feet, her legs threatening to fail her.

Vanessa nodded, steadying herself as he thrumming heart started to return to a slightly normal pace. "A-Alive and well.. Thank you," she responded, her voice cracking as she spoke for the first time in ages. "I can't believe it," she managed to say, shaking her head as she stared at the man. In all the years that came to pass, he was the only living person she'd seen in at least a year.

Alive and well.

Jackson's eyebrows furrowed in concern for a long moment before he shook his head in return, his blond hair tussled and tossing back and forth before he leaned back against the nearest object. A former furnace but without regular electricity, it was useless. Utterly useless.

But either way, despite seeing the woman in front of him, he knew they didn't have time for formalities. Not with the hoard slowly figuring out a way to get up to where they were.

"I know you just climbed up that, but how good are you with climbing a rope?" Jackson finally said, turning straight to business as he stood up straight and walked to the edge of the building. Technically, there was a power line that hung from one end to the next building. He was used to crossing them like tightropes. But if she wasn't? He'd find a way around.

"They'll be up here in no time, we have to move."

Vanessa was ever aware of the horde below, scratching at the brick work as they searched for a way up. As the man stood straight and walked to the edge, Vanessa followed, not minding the shift the business. After all, she wished to stay alive, preferably with him. She'd been alone too long to let her distrustful nature push away this man.

Vanessa bit at her lip, looking at the power line strung out before her. "I can handle a bit of rope climbing," she confirmed as their impending doom brought forth a surge of energy. Her muscles were still tired, but she refused to let it stop her as she knew she could push her self on. The sound of shuffling growing closer sent chills down her spine. "We gotta go now. They're almost up here," she warned, stepping forward.

Jackson glanced back for a moment, looking over the much smaller young woman. While he didn't doubt that she could climb across, it was far more of a subtle moment of wonder in his eyes. Mostly the wonder of 'did she really just point that out?' He had ears and eyes and knew full well the hoard was pushing doors, climbing stairs and--the worst part, doorknobs.

It couldn't be the type that were stupid and slow. No. They had their minds and their dexterity. While rotting, dead and hivemind... the dexterity of their fingers still remained.

He didn't say much more and instead turned to make his way across the former power line. Step after step, his arms out. It was like a slack line. "Then you'd best be moving eh?" He called back.
