Hi, I know the ask me anything turns into a big trend but I'm boring

But!! My job isn't!

Hi, I am an ASE certified car mechanic and I work on cars daily, so here's to asking any questions regarding

- Brakes

- Engine Repair

- Engine Performance

- Suspensions

- Transmissions

etc

or whatever else you want to ask! I'm not very familiar with high end European models like Audi, BMW, Mercedes, etc but I can answer the basics about them!

HONDAS !!!

I love you Honda,,,

Very easy to work with and very simple as well! Sturdy reliable cars and a great brand for a first car because maintaining them is cheap!

Modding them out is also very fun TEEHEE

Dodge is also pretty high up there but sometimes they're a pain 😔

I feel like it's not appreciated enough how different car culture is at different parts of the world; what's like, the most common type/brand of car in your region, or the US in general? Does it tend to skew more modern or is it common for people to drive cars that are older than you and will fall apart if you look at it too hard (like they do here)

Manual or Automatic?

When in a manual, you shift the gears using the lever! It's connected to the transmission via linkages. Linkages are connected to a piece called the Shift Fork and it uses a synchronizer gear to match speeds between two gears so you can shift!

They're really complex but in a nutshell;

Engine spin

Transmission no spin

Piece makes transmission spin with engine

Congrat you shifted

Oil changes and tire rotations! Basic maintenance intervals. Alignments are another big one followed by inspections.

Ford definitely.

Dodge is a high second and Toyotas/Hondas kinda fill in the rest

Since I live in the middle of nowhere, my whole state is pretty poor unless you own a farm so older cars are very prominent.

If you take care of them, an older car will outlast a newer car any day. Planned obsolence is a thing in the manufacturing world unfortunately.

Be nice to your beat up 98 camry, it'll get you farther than anything nowadays.
