When Atria woke, she was in a bed that smelled strongly of antiseptic. She sat upright, nearly knocking her head with the medic who had been looking her over. She smiled shyly at the medic before regaining her wits and turning to her left to find Inferno in the cot next to her.

The color had returned to her roommate's face, and Atria let out a huff of air as she lay back down, content to allow the medic to finish his exam. When he was done, he handed her a sheet of paper - a discharge paper. Atria almost laughed - she was fine. Had been fine.

Rolling her eyes, she looked past Inferno to see Khaos lying in bed, wincing as a medic tended to his wounds. She cleared her throat to get his attention, then waved cheekily before hopping out of her bed and walking to his side. His wounds were extensive, but thankfully the magic the healers had used had mended many of the worst spots.

"You know, doggy boy, when they say to make a grand entrance, I don't think this is exactly what they have in mind."

Inferno had fallen asleep soon after the medic had started their healing process for her shock, her mind a blank abyss of darkness. Raze and Spark had left soon after, shooed out by some other medic, telling them that visiting time was over, and that they could come back tomorrow, but for now they had to go back to their own dorms for the night.

Khaos, once he heard a slightly familiar voice, stirred, opening his unusual indigo eyes, something that had set him apart from the other Hellhounds just as Inferno’s umbrakenisis had set her apart. It was one of the things that had brought them together, their strangeness, their differentness, even in the eyes of their own species.

He yelped and shot up as he saw unfamiliar faces swimming into his view. He looked around wildly, trying to find a face that he knew, that he recognized. A girl with ashy blond hair and dark green eyes stood to the side of the cot he was in. She said something to him in a different tongue, which confused him. He could only speak Hell-tongue, but for some reason, the girl in front of him thought he could speak another tongue. And, she spoke to him as if he knew her.

Glancing behind her, he saw the sleeping form of another girl, one with silky black hair and pale, freckled skin. He felt as if he should know both of the girls, but he didn’t remember them.

At all.

“I’m sorry, do I know you?” Khaos asked in Hell-tongue.

{Btw, Khaos lost his memory for some reason. He doesn’t remember anyone, and he lost the ability to speak in the regular supernatural tongue that all supernaturals learn to speak so that they can understand each other. He only remembers himself, his name, and how to speak his original tongue, Hell-tongue, which only Daemons and Hellhounds and other creatures of the Hellscape know. Thought it would bring in some ~drama~ into the storyline lmao!}

Atria gasped at the rasping of the tongue. She had heard Hell-tongue once, but even if she had studied it intensely, Fae would never truly be able to understand it. She was left gawking at him, waiting for a response; she imagined his confusion was reflected on her own face.

He said nothing. She said nothing. The two just stared, both waiting for a response neither would receive. After nearly a full minute of this, Atria shook herself out of her stupor, turning to the sleeping form of Inferno before gently shaking her awake.

Inferno jerked from her slumber, jolting up when she felt hands shaking her awake. Calming her breathing, she noticed Atria was the one standing over her, hands on her arm.

“Is everything alright? Are you okay?” She asked, looking over her roommate. She had been so caught up in her shock and grief that she never thought to look her friend over for injuries or anything.

Friend. Huh, when did I start calling her that?

Probably after she had possible saved her life when she brought her to the medical wing before her shock could really set in and possible stop some of her vital organs.

She got out of the bed, losing her balance a bit as she grabbed onto the bedframe for a bit of support until she regained her ability to balance correctly.

{sorry, i wasn't sure what all to do with that last one xD}

Atria snorted at her roommate's concern. She waved her off quickly, instead pointing to Khaos while Inferno stabilized herself.

"You doggy friend isn't speaking the normal tongue, I can't speak Hell-tonuge, and the other hounds are nowhere to be seen." Atria glanced at Khaos once more, settling herself on the edge of Inferno's cot. "So if you can so kindly translate or maybe fill him in and fill me in, or knock some sense into him, it would be greatly appreciated."

With that, Atria stood to find the medic. She wondered through the cots until the top of a head peaked out from one. Walking over, she saw the female medic from the previous night sorting through some medical equipment. Atria coughed politely to get her attention, before pointing to the bed Khaos was in. "My friend is awake, I figured I should let somebody know."

{You are totally fine lmao!}

Inferno looked at Atria retreating back and then back to Khaos, who was staring at her with confusion in his eyes.

“Khaos, you’re awake! Are you feeling alright?” Inferno asked, her natural tongue rolling off her tongue smoothly and naturally. Khaos stared at her for a few more seconds and then opened his mouth. “I feel fine, just the wounds in my body hurt and sting a little bit…I don’t even know where I got them from. But…who are you? And who’s that other girl? I feel like I should know you both, but…nothing’s coming to mind.”

Inferno looked at him in pure shock. “You don’t remember Artia? The Fae over there? You don’t remember ME?”

Khaos just shook his head sadly. “I’m sorry…I don’t remember anything other than myself and Hell-tongue. I don’t know who you are, what this place is, how I got here, or why I’m wounded.”

Classes resumed somewhat normally, despite the looming threat that lay in the woods. As the first week progressed, Atria had already gained considerable strength in controlling her hydrokinesis. She had yet to show the teachers her air shields, and had mentioned to even less the sparks that she recalled flying from her fingers - maybe it had been a hallucination.

She had tiptoed around Inferno, unsure of how to check on her roommate without risking triggering something unsavory. She stuck near her though, constantly monitoring the interactions she had with others. Just in case, she would tell herself.

Monday morning was no different; as Atria walked into that forsaken classroom, she grimaced at the seat Crescent would have occupied. She hoped Khaos would return soon; his memory loss had been a shock, to say the least.

Taking her seat, Atria looked to the Fae female beside her. She waved halfheartedly before opening her sketchbook and burying herself in her work.

She would find the killer.

The pages of her book were a jumbled mess of theories, drawings, and research on what, exactly, could kill a werewolf and do near-fatal damage to a Hellhound. She hadn't gotten far. As the teacher began to explain the days lesson, she tuned him out, so invested in her work that she wasn't even sure she would know when the class period was over.

Classes returned to normal after that day, Inferno not even trying to pay attention to the lessions. Everyone was giving her weird looks now, and she loathed it.

SHe had noticed the way Atria had seemed to tiptoe around her, wary of her state. SHe had noticed the small glances the other students gave her, their soft whispers gossiping about her, wondering how she had gotten in the state she had when she was escorted to the medical wings days prior, bloodied and pale.

Raze and Spark had stayed silent, only waving at her, and ever noe and again, checking up with her. They seemed to be doing almost as bad as she was. At this point, Inferno barely slept, pacing quietly within the room, being careful as to not wake up her roommate. Her mind was racing, and she knew she had no chance of sleep.

Khaos lost his memory. How? How would that be possible, for someone to lose every sigle memory but the most basic ones? To make someone forget a whole language? To forget their best friend? She was determined to find whoever had done thins and make them pay for the damage they had cause her and her friends, mentally and physically.

She caught peeks of what was in Atria’s sketchbook, and knew that if she could just get her roommate to talk to her, they could figure things out together.

That’s why, as soon as classes ended for the day, she stalked up to Atria and pulled her away from the other students, her grip on her friend’s arm tight. “You and I are going to study in the library tonight, after dinner.” She growled. “Don’t be late.”

Atria stumbled back, shocked. Inferno was talking. Not just that, Inferno had attitude. This was good.

She nodded, yanking her arm from her friend before stalking off. The next class had been cancelled for the day, and she had things to do before dinner.

Sneaking through the shadows and crevices in the walls, Atria made her way to the front door. Students hadn't been allowed in the forest since the incident, but that wouldn't stop her. Checking left and right, Atria waited until there was nobody in the main hall before silently running to the door. She opened it gently, thankful it didn't have squeaky hinges, and slunk through the narrow opening into the morning sun.

Creeping towards the forest, Atria nervously glanced back and forth - not for the killer, but for other students. She didn't need her parents to learn of what had been happening.

She followed the path into the woods until she reached the clearing she had been sleeping on. Only then did she relax slightly, before turning in the direction she thought the howl had come from that night; she wasn't entirely sure, but a general direction was all she needed.

Making her way through the brush, Atria passed the rotting corpse of a deer - the one her friends had been about to eat. She shuddered in disgust. Continuing on, she began to pick up the scent of iron - blood.

Using her nose to guide her, Atria made her way to the scent, nearly gagging as she beheld the scene: blood covered everything. Rotted chunks of flesh, ripped from her friends, clung to the ground. The scent of blood was thick, but underneath it, she could still barely scent her friends. Taking a deep breath, she separated the scents until - there!

The killer's smell was intermixed, fainter than the rest. She couldn't tell what it smelled like, but she had the strange feeling that it was unnatural, even more so than the creatures at the school. Taking a deep breath, Atria prepared to do her own investigating, and she had no better place than the scene of the crime.

Infenro watched as the Fae walked away, looking like she had something to do. She was partially tempted to follow her, to make sure that her roommate made it back to the room alright, but decided against it. She could sense that Atria had grown stronger than she was when they first met. Granted, she hadn’t been paying nearly enough attention to the students around her due to her sleep-deprived state, but she had enough sense in her that she could feel the change in Atria’s power.

Slipping into the shadows so she didn’t have to risk bumping into any students, or risk being seen by the other students, Inferno shifted quickly and padded silently towards the library. Usuing the shadows that the giant bookcases provided, she managed to make it to the ancient part of the library unseen by anyone.

She shifted back into her humanoid form, only because she could reach and see further up the bookcases like that, and ran her hand alone the spines of the dusty books, ruby eyes skimming the titles and authors as she looked for a book that could help her.

{Sorry it's short, I'm really tired cause I haven't been sleeping very well, and I'm about to hop off for bed right now, actually! I can write more tomorrow, sorry XD}
