I've noticed my adopts and many others haven't been selling like normal. People also haven't been advertising art shops or anything like that. Let's discuss.

Being here for a long, long, long while, I've seen the art community rise/fall/etc. I think as of right now, the main problem with the community "dying" is the prices. Artists want to be paid what they deserve, and they need it, but the problem is newer players have troubles getting mush/apples/etc. and can't/don't want to spend what they have. As well as the contests, I hardly see them get more than 5 entries at this point. Either artists are tired or they just don't know what to do.

You just gave me a justifyable reason to lower my art shop prices. ^^' Zivixia said: Being here for a long, long, long while, I've seen the art community rise/fall/etc. I think as of right now, the main problem with the community "dying" is the prices. Yeah I've noticed this too i just got back from a haitus and i would say my art improved a lot but my art now isn't selling as much as my mediocre art before even though the prices are kinda similar - on a slightly similar note i feel like the economy of wp has changed a lot too, like before I left apples were typically valued at around 1000 mush but now they go for like 500 and i think this could contribute to the art price thing too because if we have "inflation" then artists will charge higher which is only fair and new players who cant get their hands on 20+ apples easily just dont have the chance to buy art, and it seems to me like a lot of the older more known players are moving away from the site a bit so that would also lower the demand for art - thanks for coming to my ted talk Edited at September 20, 2023 10:56 PM by Futon_Stalker

Absolutely, like Futon said there's been an enormous inflation on here. Also the fact that many artists left a couple of years ago and the art community never really took root like that again :c I remember very well what is was like back then

This is great to bring up again and again! As it stands, the art market on wolfplay fluctuates, a lot, and always will!
Some artists will just get too busy and have to drop doing art on here for their own reasonings and sometimes when they come back, the inflation and pricing standard may have dropped and may now, not be worth their time. Artists always have to change and adapt, but if prices are pushed too far low for the amount of work they do its hard to really build anything up.
As of now, the community is trying to still build back up the economy after long time players have slowed logging in, or have left after all this time. Its still very broken from what it used to be, especially in the boosts and defects breeding and sale side of things.
Another problem is that some rules, changes and the handling of these topics will often chase many artists away, scare them off, or discourage them entirely, while others may allow for more artists freedom, theres so much regulation on content posting (i.e The fandom rule)
Its just a bit discouraging when you can't share art you've done of some of your favorite things, or even talk about the things that inspire you, which can and will make you withdraw from posting on here entirely! This gives artists a lot of drive and inpiration and just not being able to mention these things is a little disheartening. (speaking from experience :,D)
One big one I know made many people drop and opt out of doing commissions or adopts was this;
While I understand it was reminded and is a rule to reinforce and protect commissioners, it removes the artists protection and they now have to take extra precautions to get their payments without out art being taken and them getting ghosted and blocked when its time for payment.
I know many people who this has unfortunately happened to and they often get upset and put off from doing art on the site D:
While there are a lot of steps to try and balance both Artist and Buyer protection, it can be entirely difficult to do and handle. Sometimes a step can tried to be taken, and your put two steps behind.
